York Times bestselling author. You can hear his show here

News he is the great. One Mark levin with a
new book out called On. Power, mark thanks for calling this.
Morning how are, You?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Mike how are you my?
Speaker 1 (00:22):
BROTHER i am doing very, well. Sir it's great to
talk to you and great to hear your. Voice so
let's talk about the book At saijah over the. Weekend
talking about a little. Bit and you, know it's really
funny when you talk about. Power those in power want
to keep, it those who don't have it want to
get it. Back and it's this elusive, thing and it's.
Different it means different things to different people with different.
(00:45):
Ideologies talk about it for a.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Second, YEAH i think this is a very important. Topic
may it may sound, like, oh, well we understand. That,
NO i think it's it's a lot. DEEPER i, Mean
i'll give you an. Example when you look at The
declaration Of, independence what is that? About it's about? Power
and that IS i call it positive, power negative, power
AND i break it down into other categories, Too and
that's this why are we so different than Say marxist,
(01:09):
regimes are fascist, regimes or Even islami's. Regimes and it
was the thinking behind the, mindset behind the ideas behind
the founding Of america and what was the revolutionary? War
photover sought over. Power people think liberty and, rights and
it was actually photo of a power who gets to
decide what if you read the declaration carefully and you
look at our, history and we understand that they relied
(01:32):
on The Judeo christian belief. Systems whether people don't believe
in it or, not it's beside the. Point that's what
they relied. On and they relied on fusing that with The.
Enlightenment that's how we got this fantastic. Country it's the
only kind of country of its kind. Ever and that's,
why in other, words they, believe AND i think, rightly
So god is the sovereign and here on earth his
(01:54):
children are the. Sovereign and That's Judeo christian belief system
in a. Nutshell and then they, said, well so how
do we manifest this here on? Earth the earthly manifestation of.
This and they looked at The enlightenment and what does
The enlightenment. Say it says a lot of, things but
mostly you've got to divide, power power checking. Power and
so when you look at The, declaration our founding, document
(02:17):
when you look at The constitution which flows from The,
declaration you can see what a fantastic system was set.
Up and in, Fact John, locke who was probably the
most important philosopher during the revolutionary period for us from The,
enlightenment you, know they were questioning him In europe because you,
know they, said where does this place exist that you're
(02:38):
trying to describe this social contract in civil society and
all the rest of this. Stuff he Said, America america
is a clean, slate Unlike, europe which had feudalism and
monarchs and all the rest Of america's never had these.
Things and so this is the starting off point in the.
Book it's much more involved than, that WHERE i want
people to understand how fortunate we are for a lot of.
(03:00):
Reasons people know viscerally people are, patriotic but we need
to be able to fight The marxists and The islamists
and the leftists and explain, why and this whole idea of.
Power we look at the Modern Democrat. Party it's all
about gaining, power holding, power changing election, systems opening the
border to change the, population figuring out ways to subvert the,
(03:22):
constitution about the concentration of, power centralization of power in
The Democrat, party and people like me but like the
opposite saying, no, no, no. No we have to win elections
to make sure that kind of power doesn't. Exist SO
i get into. That we talk about language and thought,
control we, MEET i talk about, RIGHTS i talk about
what do we mean by? Liberty and so the book
(03:44):
is the most compact Book i've ever. Written it's probably
the most powerful Book i've ever. Written there's heavy, issues
but it's in very Plain. English SO i hope that
everyone can just really dive into.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
It speaking With Mark, levan his new book is Called
On Power meant The. CONSTITUTION a minute, Ago, mark AND
i was probably A b plus history. Student but If
i'm not, mistaken the original purpose of THE Us constitution
was to limit governmental. Power and you, know we've recently
seen in a couple of recent administrations that how that's
(04:19):
not the. Case how did we get off?
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Track with, that, well you make a great. Point the
constitution was set up to avoid two. Things number, one
mobocracy pure democracy because your rights are, unalienable people don't
get the vote on. Them and also to prevent what
they fought a seven and a half revolutionary war, against
which was a dictatorship of. Monarchy the, trajectory AND i
(04:43):
read about this in the book, too because it's a
great point you. Raised the trajectory in The west is
towards WHAT i call authoritarian. Democracy that, is we go
through the motions of. Elections we go through the motions
in many cases when you look at the radical courts
of having a court system and due process and all these.
Things and because we have a court system and because
(05:03):
we have elections and so, forth we view ourselves as
this great democracy OR i should say small r. Republic
but we have elements within our, country within political, parties within,
academia and we're also importing. Them they don't believe any of.
That they're happy to go through the. Process but the
process is the, process and that's all they care about
(05:26):
because in, reality if they win, elections, Great if they lose,
elections they turn to the permanent, Government they turn to
the unelected. Judges and this comes out of the early
so called progressives who were really the children Of, marx these,
intellectuals and that Includes Woodrow, wilson and so this Is,
look every democracy has the seed of its own. Demise
(05:49):
and this is the problem right. Here the Von mesies
talks about we all sound Like marxists, now we all
talk Like marxists, Now and to some extent he's. Right
so this book is intended to be a huge pushback
against this, mindset against this, trajectory to take on the,
mandamis to take on all these radical, leftists The Bernie,
(06:10):
sanders and to give us, arguments positive affirmative arguments to push.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Back, Mark i'm glad you mentioned the activist judges, too
because that's A i think that is an, understated undercovered
aspect to all of. This these judges that are in, place,
unelected they're making. Policy that is a, huge huge. Problem
AND i do want to get, into you, know cultural
power and the dominance by the, left starting with like
(06:37):
media and. Education where how did we lose? That how
when did the media shift so far? Left when did
our schools shift so far? Left and how do we
get it?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Back, well this is a big. Problem and the way
we get it back is through school, choice which is
something the president's fighting. For it's by parents educating their
children go to these government schools because they can't afford anything.
Else at the dinner table and the breakfast. Table but
What i'm trying to do here is not only break
down what is taking, place but make the case for
(07:11):
what we need to do about. It and so what's
happened is might be the left has taken over the.
Culture that's what they've. Done and they've taken over, Academia
they've taken over the, Media they've taken over. IT i
mean even museums and whatever you look, at they've taken it. Over,
well this is a dawning. Task so what are they.
(07:31):
Doing they're promoting their, Ideas they're, indoctrinating they are undermining our.
Country and so we need to have stronger. Ideas we
need to confront, them we need to push. Back so
we need a combination of, that which is crucial ideas
make all the difference in the, world and then, activism
that is to actually move into these areas of, society
(07:54):
be willing to move into these areas of. Society, look
there's tens and tens of millions of us who don't
like what's going. On and we understand The President, trump
from my, perspective is, outstanding but he's got three and
a half years and you, know elections and elections and,
elections we can't win them. All and then we have
these blue states that are problem so that they during the,
pandemic these guys grabbed as much power as they possibly,
(08:16):
could as if we didn't have any more independent liberty
and so, forth and so this book kind of deals
with all. That it's kind of hard to explain it
in a few, minutes as you can, imagine but the
issue does come down to. Power and when people understand
that The Democrat, party The, marxists The, islamist the Hard,
left that they're about the accumulation of. Power they're opposed
(08:37):
to things like The bill Of. Rights they want conformity and.
Uniformity they manipulate, language they manipulate. Thought this whole idea
of wocism is to change the, language to create new,
words to limit what people can say and think and
argue without destroying their. Careers when people understand fundamentally what's going,
(08:59):
on we're up against and there's there is a difference
between using power in a positive sense and using power
in a negative. SENSE i think we're going to be
the least on the road to pushing back hard and
taking back these. Institutions
