Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's spend a minute with Liz Peak on the Legacy
Retirement Group dot com phone line. You can see Liz
on Fox, you can see her on Fox Business. You
can read her work which I like to do weekly
at lizpeak dot com. And of course you can hear
here here most Wednesdays at about ten after eight Liz,
good morning. Let's talk about this mess in Minnesota. This
was a massive scandal involving almost all Somali immigrants setting

(00:23):
up these kind of bogus nonprofits and they basically stole
from the state, said they'd provide food for kids, and
they took the money and set up all the fake
meal sites and so forth, and then never provided the
food that they promised.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah, it's a really horrible scandal, of course, because it's
stealing from programs from the state welfare programs and federal
programs really that are needed by people, that are needed
by the needy. And you know, to have these Peak,
these fraudsters set up these enormously complicated business networks and

(01:02):
so forth where they were pretending to open feeding centers
for children, claiming to see tens of thousands of children
and basically pocketing the money that they got from the
state and federal agencies. It's a terrible story. It's also,
of course, a terrible story in the sense that local
politicians just basically turned a blind eye. I mean the numbers.

(01:24):
You know, they would go from projecting that the program
would cost two million dollars and all of a sudden
it was two hundred million dollars. There's no way in
a state the size of Minnesota that people were not
aware that this level of theft was going on. Now,
you know, during the pandemic, as we all know, hundreds

(01:45):
of billions of dollars went missing and were stolen basically
by people, but a lot of that was online. This
was a very personally engaged Somali community event. And you
know then, of course Chris you know, yesterday announced that
some fifty percent of the visas under which these Somalis

(02:05):
are in the United States are fraudulent. So it just
seems like there's really kind of a cesspool of corruption here.
And of course the fact that it was all under
the nose of Tim Woltz, who could have become Vice
President of the United States, just kind of make your
hair stand on end. I mean, clearly he is either
in that best case or corrupt, worst case or clueless

(02:28):
perhaps you know whatever, or he just doesn't care. And
I gotta say one of the other things that's happening.
I think there are twenty six states that are now
refusing to hand over data on SNAP benefits and Social
Security benefits. These are Democrat excusing run states that't like

(02:48):
New York and California and Illinois and so forth, who
are not cooperating with the feds. And what is it
that they're not cooperating on. It's rooting out this exact
same kind of fraud, the fact that there are, as
Elon Musk told us, millions of people receiving benefits who
should not be. So how is that good for the

(03:10):
Democrat brand to be sort of standing on the side
of fraud, waste, and abuse. Those things have become cliches.
But when you're a taxpayer and you look up and
see how much of your money is being stolen, it
is no longer a rounding area. These are significant amounts
of money, and it's really offensive, it really is.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
And you mentioned your hair standing on end with the
concept of potentially having a Kamala Harris tim Wall's administration
right now, I mean that's just I can't get past that.
That is so frightening. And again Trump administration not perfect,
but can you imagine where we would be then this
whole Snap benefits thing too. You know, why are they

(03:52):
refusing to share the immigration status? Like what would the
reason be behind that? Because I thought the Democrats told
us that illegals weren't receiving SNAP benefits. Now they want
to sue the Trump administration for cutting off SNAP benefits
for illegals. Well, which is it?

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah, it's really it's really monstrous because again SNAP benefits
are supposed to go to people Americans in our country
who need help. By the way, the whole program has
gotten sort of abused intensive the requirements were dumbed down
during COVID and before that during the Biden administration, I
mean the Obama administration, so that you know, these programs

(04:33):
like Medicaid and SNAP and so forth, which were really
meant mainly to help women with indigent women with children
who could not care for themselves. Now, as we all know,
there are an awful lot of able bodied single men
on these programs, people who should be going out to work.
And by the way, the national labor statistics reflect the

(04:54):
fact that we don't have enough people in the workforce.
I mean, there's just too many people sitting on the
sidelines receiving benefits. In any event, I do think the
sort of Democrat resistance to opening the books. You know
what if they say, sunlight's the best disinfectant. If there's
a problem here, let's address it, let's not just cover

(05:16):
it up. And to your point, we have how many
times during the government shutdown did Democrat officials come out
and say, oh, no, no, no one. You know, no
person illegally is here, illegally is receiving health care benefits.
We know that that's not true. We know that there
receiving all kinds of benefits in states like California and

(05:36):
New York. The government, the governors have been willing, if
not eager, to extend benefits to illegals. Why because it
attracts hundreds of thousands of people who are in the
country illegally to go live in their state, and that
protects their seats in Congress. That is the missing link
in all of this that I swear Donald Trump and

(05:59):
the GOP has got to address the fact that all
these Democrat run states are rewarded for attracting and benefiting
illegals is outrageous, and they're rewarded as your listeners. Remember
because in the census they count today, they count illegals.
And so if you have a million people living in

(06:21):
your state illegally, as California, does they help you. That
census determines how many seats you have in Congress. California
would be down four or five seats if illegals were removed,
and that is a real threat to Democrat superiority in Congress.
And that's why they hand out all these goodies to

(06:42):
people across the border. I mean, it's really unconscionable until
the citizens of these states wise up to what's going on.
It's the status quo, and I don't know how the
federal government can turn it around.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
You speaking with Liz Peak. You can see her work
at lizpeak dot com. You see her on Fox See
here on Fox Business, it's spend a minute on the
special election in Tennessee. The GOP congressional candidate there won
and this is a big win, defeating what they call
the AOC of Tennessee. This was a big deal last night.
And does this have any could this sort of be

(07:16):
a preview of midterms.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Well, I hope so, because there was a lot of drama,
a lot of speculation that a district in Tennessee which
hasn't had a Democrat elected for forty years and which
went for Trump by twenty two points. Mike flip Blue.
I never thought that was going to happen because, frankly,
the candidate was odious, She hated. She is on tape

(07:39):
saying she hates natural she hates she hates country music.
I mean, how can you be elected in a district
that you're kind of coming out and slamming and she
is very progressive and now this particular district is still
quite conservative. That f one by nine points. I laughed
because the New York Post wrote an article saying narrowly defeated. No,

(08:02):
nine points is not narrow. And by the way, the
differential between a presidential election and an off term election,
I suspect that there is always a narrowing of that
gap because you do get a blowback to the current administration.
It happens, happens in every midterm. We're going to see

(08:22):
it in November, and you see it in these special
elections too. But I think the idea that these young
radicals are going to just walk into these districts and win.
I think Democrats need to kind of reassess. And you know,
not all Democrats are on board with the Democratic socialists,
the socialist positions of a lot of these candidates. I mean,

(08:46):
most Americans don't agree with this. So to think that
that Mamdani in New York is emblematic of what may
happen across the country, I don't think. So that does
not mean Republicans can relax about the it terms. They
cannot Trump won't be on the ballot. They need turnout
and they're going to really have to push to get
people out to vote, and I think that happened in

(09:08):
this election.
