Speaker 1 (00:00):
Six forty six, Friday morning, Columbus Morning News.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
It's Mike Elliott over to the Legacy Retirement Group dot
com phone lines, where we see Rory O'Neil NBC News Radio.
Happy Friday, Rory, and the Nobel Peace Prize has been announced.
And sadly you and I not on the list.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Right, better luck next year. I got a pizza prize
on a Friday. But that's the Peace Pride News was
official from Norway this morning, naming Maria Corrina Machado, Venezuelan
opposition leader as this year's recipient at the prize. They
cited her work in trying to bring back democracy to Venezuela,

(00:34):
the fact that she's now living essentially in hiding and
has been in hiding for months now fearing for her safety.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Yes, she is a free market capitalist.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
She has opposed the socialist governments of Hugo Chavez and
Nicholas Maduro for decades, so not a bad choice. A
lot of people are disappointed that it wasn't President Trump.
I don't know that it was as much of a
snub this year as a timing issue for this year's
Peace Prize.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Well right, and look, it's not like the Oscars. It's
not like you have to have a performance out in
the past year, right, They can do these things years later.
It's still an option. There's next year, you know. So
it's it's it's interesting. I also wonder if it was
also because the president was campaigning so hard and obvious
for it.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
You know, it's a good point.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Look looked a little thirsty, as the kids might say.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Right, the more you want something, the less you're going
to get it. So maybe Af's like, I don't want
the prize, it's meaningless.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Then he'll get it.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I don't mention it, just don't mention this. Oh look me,
you know, versus I want that
