Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alright, just about seven forty and we'll check you in
(00:03):
on the Legacy Retirement Group dot com phone line.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Fox News Ryan Schmells.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
First of all, Schmellzy, did you were you around the
military parade on Saturday evening? Uh?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
In DC?
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I was, Yeah, I was covering it for the Layoff School.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
And so talk about that for a second before we
jump in on Senator Padilla.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
What's the what was the the overall feeling and how'd
that look?
Speaker 3 (00:27):
It was hot, so that was my first takeaway. It
was like ninety degrees plus one hundred percent humidity, So
it was it was rough at first. I mean, we
were expecting rain. We never got the rain, which is nice.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
And look, it was probably one of the shortest speeches
I've ever seen President Trump give. It was very you know,
if it started at least thirty minutes early, so it
was it was really a quick process. Now, of course,
you know, there was a lot of I.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Thought, I thought people really liked the fact that you
got the old school uniforms and some of the old
school weapons and artillery and all that, and then they
kind of got into a lot of modern day tanks
and everything that went on from there. But eventually it
wrapped up. Lee Greenwood sang and everyone got out of there.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Perfect.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Couldn't have scripted it any better. I'm glad that that
went well. And how was the How were the crowds
for it? Were there were there any protesters in the
area there?
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Good? It's funny is that in my position, I probably
am actually the worst person to ask about the crowds.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Because you know, I was right up.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Close and personal with all this, and I saw the
crowds behind us, but you know, I couldn't really see,
you know, what it looks like on the parade rout
and everything like that.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
So I mean I probably had.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Probably the worst seat in the house to be able
to evaluate the crowd side.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Very good.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Speaking with Bryan Schmellos, Fox News. So, talk about this
situation last week with Senator Alex Padilla, who was force
really removed from the Homeland Security press conference. This was
all a press conference regarding the California riots, right, Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Well, yeah, that was for the most part. Yet that's
why the press conference was happening. Padilla wanted questions answered about,
you know, certain arrests that ICE had made and all
that stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
So, so what happened then, so he he they didn't
like his line of questioning or what was the story there?
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Well, you know, he just thought he was He started,
you know, asking a question. He showed up to this
press conference. I don't know if he he definitely doesn't
seem like he was invited. He started asking a question, Chris.
You know, eventually officers started grabbing him and forcibly removed
him from the room, which eventually led to that video
of him being taken down, uh, to the ground and
(02:41):
hints he said afterwards he was not detained, he was
not arrested, but he is. The point he was trying
to make was that if they're willing to do this
to a US senator, imagine what they're willing to do
to somebody who was.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Not a US senator. So this probably couldn't have gone
more perfectly for him. Did did he?
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Do you think maybe he had this in his head
when he went in there to try to kind of
get some attention and dust some things up.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Yeah, no idea. I don't think that question has been
posed to him yet, so we'll see. I mean, he
definitely got attention for it, no doubt about it.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
So politically, any fallout for him on this.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
There could be a central resolution down the road. We'll
see if that actually the Senate goes through with that.
You know, the House is a lot was very willing
to do things like this, But whether or not the
Senate's going to be willing to center one of their own,
it hasn't happened in a very long time, so I
don't know if it's going to happen in this case.
