Speaker 1 (00:00):
Which brings us to the Legacy Retirement Group dot com
phone line and we find Mark Summerson, Columbus Business First
dot Com. Mark, how are you this morning?

Speaker 2 (00:08):
I'm good. How are you?

Speaker 1 (00:10):
I'm doing well. I've got this little notebook that I
keep of all the restaurants that you and I are
going to go to, and I got to cross one
off the list before we even had a chance to
go to it, and that's Smith and Wilenski.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
I was going to say, I was going to take
you there when they reopened. I was going to treat
anything you wanted on the menu. But looks like it's
not going to happen now. Yeah, they closed at Easton
a year ago and they said, don't worry, we're not
leaving Columbus. We are going to reopen at a new location.

(00:41):
And it was supposed to be the ground floor of
the Hyatt in the Arena District. And then this week
they said it's not going to work out. They had
actually submitted plans to the city. We had seen the renderings.
It looked real nice. People were really excited about it.
Now they said they're going to concentrate on their growth
outside the United States, so they're looking at. They have

(01:03):
a new restaurant in Manila. I'll take you to that one.
They have additional locations planned in Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur.
Columbus is just not on that list right now. So yeah,
they have four remaining US restaurants Boston, Miami, Las Vegas,
and Chicago, and now Columbus is off the list. There

(01:23):
are still plenty of steak places I can take you to,
but we're gonna have to go Dutch. But yeah, I
really I'm really upset that our planned big feast over
at Smith Lenski's is not gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
I know. And as soon as I saw that story
on Columbus Business First dot Com, I thought about you.
But I'm more of a Jeff Ruby guy anyway.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
So oh, that's right across the street from where they
were going to go exactly. Maybe I've been to Jeff
Rubies exactly zero times. I'm a little scared of the
prices there, but I should go.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Come on, it's just money. Come on, Mark, it's just money.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
We need to get some of that six' ten.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Money and oh, yeah we're not going there then that's for, Sure,
Mark Columbus business first dot. Com we'll keep it in
the restaurant world for a. Second roosters And allan is
getting to. Reopen.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
YEAH i just drove by that the other day and
it's it's it looks the. Same it's. Nice, yeah they
had a fire last, year a kitchen. Fire it damaged the.
Building it was In july and it's been closed ever.
Since but good news is they told us this week
they're going to be open in the next few. Weeks
they didn't give an exact. Date and the good news
for patrons because it's a very popular. Spot they just

(02:37):
pent a million dollars to acquire a little more, land
zero point seventy five acre lots so they can have
additional guest parking on. It so that's good news for
people who want to go. There it's it's a Huge,
roosters it's very, popular and it's been missed in that.
AREA i was talking to some business leaders who work
up and down On tangy and they said that was

(02:58):
their lunch. Place now they're going to be able to
go back, there and that's good.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
News and the, FOOD i, mean that's probably more our speed. Anyway.
MARK i, mean the food's really. Good it's affordable AND
i still contend some of the best wings In.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Columbus, OH i. Agree, again we're going to have to Go,
dutch but, Yeah loo will have to go.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
One more. Restaurant and this is something else we could
probably put on our list to a. Doghouse is it's
a hot dog joint coming to The Gateway University.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
District, yeah this is A california founded hot dog and burger.
Joint they're starting renovation soon at these spaces at fifteen
seventy four to fifteen seventy Six North High. Street it's
their first Ever ohio. Restaurant they're known for crazy, dogs
so if you like a hot dog that has more
than just mustard on, it you'll be able to go

(03:45):
to this. Place they are filling a spot And, gateway
which is. Needed a lot of places opened up In
gateway and a lot of places Closing. Gateway this was
a twenty ten founded. Company it's grown to more than
fifty locations and has twenty new sites and. Development so
having them come To, columbus if you're a hot dogs,

(04:06):
fan you're gonna love. It they have a Black angus
beef burger and Play it based, burgers but, again all
beef hot. Dogs they have sausages and. Burgers they serve
them On King's wine, rolls which is just elegant and.
Wonderful so, Yeah i'm gonna have to try that because
it really sounds.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
GOOD i don't eat a ton of hot dogs, anymore
BUT i do like a Good. SEE i was a
AND i think they've. Closed do you Remember Phillips Coney? Island,
YES i MEAN i think they've, closed BUT i mean
and they were around for one hundred, years just a
Classic Coney. ISLAND i don't need a bunch of. CHEESE
i don't need a bunch Of just give me some coney,
sauce onions and, mustard And i'm fine if that's my hot.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Dog you don't want, avocados, tomatoes crispy, onions spicy basil.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Iol that sounds like a salad on a hot, dog
is what that sounds. Like but you know IT'S i
do love the. Concept back out the doghouse when it opens,
up we'll put that on the.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
List it's doghouse with and it's spelled The german, way
so it's. Haus because of course you have to remember
that brew dog has a doghouse in their Now winchester.
Site so you don't want to get those two. Confused
good good.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Point, yeah that would get you probably a phone call
from an attorney there speaking With Columbus Business, First Mark,
summerson And Crawford hoying is back at. It they're paying
a nice little chunk of change for A worthington office.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Building, well this is cool because this is Something worthington's
been looking. For they have a kind of a tired
office building. Section this is something that is On Wilson Bridge.
Road they paid eighteen point five million dollars for Five
worthington office. Buildings they at this point said they're going
to oversee operations and property. Management But Crawford hoying is

(05:52):
kind of known for big. Developments SO i have a
feeling that down the road this could be developed into something.
Large it could be a mix of office and, residential
it could be mixed. Use who, knows BUT i think
something is going to happen with these properties down the.
Road not sure at this. Point worthington is updating its comprehensive,
plan but they really do want to make that area

(06:15):
Of worthington a little more useful and a little more
visited because these are built in the seventies and. Eighties
they're still in decent. Shape It's CLASS b office. Space
it's not. Horrible it's on six, acres but that's sort
of What crawford And wang. Does so we'll go into a,
space make some decisions about it down the, road and

(06:35):
then possibly develop it. Again that is just my idea on.
THIS i don't know if that's going to, happen But
city Of worthington is very happy with. This their economic
developer told us that their team is a strong reputation
of adding vibrancy and bringing creativity to the communities they work,
in and that's Something worthington really wants right.
