Speaker 1 (00:00):
Six forty six in the morning, Tuesday, December sixteenth. It's
Mike Elliott, Columbus Morning News. Let's check in on the
Legacy Retirement Group dot com phone line, NBC News Radios.
RORYO Neil. A little update on a number of different
stories developing. We'll call this the wheel of investigations. Rory.
We'll start with the terror plot that was thwarted. It
was planned for New Year's Eve. It was a bombing

(00:22):
plot in Los Angeles, and it's kind of a fringe
activist group. What do we know about these folks.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yeah, the group is the Turtle Island Liberation Front. Nope.
I had never heard of them either, but they are
far left pro Palestinian, anti government, anti capitalist gang. Four
people arrested, two men, two women. They were going to
set off some sort of chemical explosives at several different

(00:49):
companies in southern California. They were going online to try
to recruit more people for their cause. They say that
the targets were corporations quote engaged in activities effects interstate
and foreign commerce unquote. That means so. Yeah. They were
able to execute some search warrants over the weekend and
arrest before on conspiracy and possession of unregistered destructive devices.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Interesting, And I mean, I'm reading about these these people
that you know, they're this anti capitalist group, but they
all lived in like high end suburbs of Los Angeles
at like million dollar homes, which always sort of seems
to be the case. Well, that's that's a good news one.
The the arrest of Rob Reiner's son, this is just
a tragic, sad story.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Nick.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
I think he was He's thirty two years old.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Dealt.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
We talked about this yesterday. Is dealt with a number
of different issues. But I think he was behaving badly
at Conan and Brian's like Christmas party the night before.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Right, and that's where the falling out may have started.
That Rob and Nick Reiner were arguing quite loudly at
Conan's Christmas party, and then the killing may have happened
a short time later, and you know, and then the
bodies were discovered. So yeah, they're still trying to piece
together this timeline. But you know, the real red flag
came from the LAPD at that initial press conference when

(02:07):
they said they were not looking for any suspects. And
typically when they say that, that means it's either a murder,
suicide or something that had happened sort of within the family,
and that's apparently what happened in this case according to investigators.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Yeah, there's still an incredibly sad situation there with Rob
Reiner and Michelle Reiner and then the Brown University situation.
There's really no leads in the search for the gum
in there.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah, they got a little bit better video thanks to
some doorbell cams. The video captured just a couple of
hours before the shooting at the nearby just a couple
of blocks from that engineering building on College Hill in Providence.
And unfortunately, though the guy's wearing a face mask, you know,
one of those COVID masks, and you can't really see
his face, but you can tell. They say he's about

(02:52):
five foot eight and on the chubby side, so that helps.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Well, that upsets you if you're a bad guy and
you're watching the news and they say, you know this guy,
we don't know who he is, but he's a little chubby.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
I'm watching it again. I'm watching the TV reporters out
there in Providence. They're wearing mittens, Like, what are you
five gloves? Mit?

Speaker 1 (03:13):
When's the last time he put out a mitten.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
All right, I'm sure your fingers are together better he
wore me.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
I don't care, but be a man, put said, said
the guy in Orlando, Florida.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
All Right, you know
