Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's go twenty five miles due south of Columbus right
down US twenty three to Circleville and the one hundred
and eighteenth Circleville Pumpkin Festival. On the Legacy Retirement Group
dot com phone line from the Pumpkin Festival, It's Jenny Rhoades.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Jenny, good morning. How are you?
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Good morning? I'm great, Thanks.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
For spending time with us. So you guys got underway yesterday?
Did you have the Pumpkin Way Off yesterday?
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Yes, we had the Giant Pumpkin Way Off yesterday and
it's already been a great pumpkin show so far with
the weather and just all the great people that have
been coming out.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
So did the Liggett family win it again?
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Because they have won the Pumpkin Giant Pumpkin Way Off
for a number of years.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
He's won around seventeen times, I think, but he did
not win this year. He got second place this year.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
So what was how heavy? How big was the winning pumpkin?
And who grew it?
Speaker 3 (00:49):
So the heaviest pumpkin was nineteen seventy two, so nineteen
hundred and seventy two pounds and that was grew grown
by Mike and Dusty Helberg.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Congratulations to them. That's a big gourd. That is that
is a big pumpkin, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
So the show is underway, yes, as of yesterday, runs
through Saturday, and you are ten am to ten pm.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Is that about right? Is that what I have?
Speaker 3 (01:13):
That's correct? Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:14):
All right? So what can we expect if people come
down today?
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Lots of pumpkin goodies, anything pumpkin you can think of,
from apparel to food to just a really good time
of even a Pumpkin Show song. I don't know if
you're aware of that. So just a family tradition and
just a wonderful fall festival.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Absolutely, I did not know about the Pumpkin Show song.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Oh yeah, yeah, I don't think i'll I mean, do
you want me to sing it for you?
Speaker 1 (01:40):
I absolutely do want you to sing it for us, The.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Pumpkin Show, the Pumpkin Show. I'm on the way to
the Pumpkin Show about starting.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Well done.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
I'll let you off the hook there, but well done.
That's Jenny Rhodes from the Circle of O Pumpkin Show.
So talk about some of the most popular pumpkin food
and we all know you know, pumpkin pie, obviously pumpkin chili.
What else is out there for folks who want to
come and try something? Maybe they haven't tried. The's pumpkin flavored.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
So I've enjoyed having the pumpkin pancakes every morning for
breakfast this year. I also discovered deep fried pumpkin pie
and pumpkin pizza too, which is sweet rather than savory.
I love that too. There's pumpkin soup, pretty much anything pumpkin.
Someone will try it, someone will try to make it pumpkiny.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
And the Pumpkin Show is all free, right, often referred
to as the greatest free show on earth.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
That is true. You can experience everything without spending a dollar.
There's shows, entertainment, all kinds of fun stuff to do
and see. If you want to spend money for food
or drink, that's up to you. But there's a lot
to see. Sure talk about parking parking, so street parking
is free. There are also some shuttle options from a
(02:53):
couple ends of town. So at pumpkinshow dot com there's
more information about shuttle services. That's kind of nice because
you don't have to remember where you parked your car.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, yeah, that's big.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
That's big and so if you can't make it today tomorrow,
Saturday is the final day.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Is there anything? Is there a big finale or anything
planned Saturday.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
So we've got our Queen's Parade in the evening on Saturday,
and that will feature queens from festivals from across the
state of Ohio. We also have some staple events like
the pumpkin pie eating contest, where there was a guy
last year I think he ate a whole pie in
eight seconds, So that's something you've got to see.
