Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's go over to the Legacy Retirement Group dot com
phone line and check in with NBC News Radio's Rory O'Neil. Rory,
I see, we had the confirmation yesterday, JFK Junior getting
in on Trump's cabinet.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Indeed, and by the way, is Everyo'm making it a
four day weekend? Did I miss the memo on that?
Is that? What's happening with everyone being out today?
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Everyone's out today and Monday? Yes, so yeah, I missed
the memo too. I mean, so it's you. I mean,
someone's got to work, Rory. It figures it's the two
hardest working guys, you and me. Apparently Johnny Hill is here,
Ella is here, But yeah, everybody else is off.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
God of plan that for next year, right, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Yeah, we're off Monday too, by the way, so you
can sleep in a little.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Bit there you go. Yeah. The RFK Junior, though now
the new Secretary of Health and Human Services, confirmed in
a Senate vote yesterday and quickly sworn in during ceremonies
in the Oval Office. The final vote was fifty two
to four eight. That means every Democrat, every Democrat, voted
against Robert F. Kennedy Junior. One Republican joined the Democrats.
(01:09):
Senator Mitch McConnell from Kentucky, the former Republican majority leaders
who survived Polio, said he couldn't support the Kennedy nomination
because of his views on vaccines, but at fifty two
to forty eight was enough to get him over the
finish line. And we're seeing more and more of these
cabinet positions get confirmed after a little bit of a
(01:29):
bumpy start and some thoughts that maybe folks like Kennedy
and Tulci Gabbard wouldn't be able to get enough votes,
but they did.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, Tulsi got in, heg Seth got in. Of course,
these are all some of the more controversial picks. RFK
Junior is in, and so who's left? Is it Cash
Patel as he expected to Where do we stand with
him for FBI director?
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Right? The Patel vote should be happening next week, so
that and it looks like he'll have enough votes to
get through there. You know. Really the only hiccup was
the Matt Gates nomination. That's right. I don't think technically
a nomination because it was announced before it was officially submitted,
So I think don't claim a one hundred percent success rate.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
And how long does it typically take for the president
or an administration to get their cabinet in place? Sometimes
this can go into March, can it?
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yeah it could, but probably not. You know, sometimes we've
seen these nominations get derailed and they have to start
the process all over again. You know, someone didn't pay
their gardner taxes appropriately, or their nannies, you didn't get
a W twos we've seen so decades ago. These days
that wouldn't even raise an eyebrow. But yeah, there have
been some nominations that have had to be withdrawn and
(02:38):
then confirmations take place later. But you know, look, this
Trump two point zero was clearly hitting the ground running.
They know how the system works and they were ready
to go.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
All right, Rory O'Neil, enjoy the weekend and we'll talk
to you on Tuesday morning. My man. I appreciate your
time this morning,
