Speaker 1 (00:00):
The rain this afternoon, could see some storms that moved through.
Some of those could be strong to severe this afternoon.
But I think we can use a little rain, and
we can use not only for the you know, the
landscape and the lawns and that's that's the kind of thing,
but also to kind of clear the air. The allergies
now are in peak peak season. The tree pollen, the

(00:21):
grass pollen is wreaking havoc on those who suffer. At
my younger son is just if you look at his eyes, yeah,
he could just see it. His eyes are puffy and
the red and he just looks miserable.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yeah, it's the worst feeling. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
And here's a kid who's outside after school and he
comes home and you know, plays outside. You know, it's
not hockey season anymore, so he's not at the rank
as much, but he's playing the cross. So he's out
in the field, you know, in these wooded areas and
running around in the lawns and the grass, and he's.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Just like, I can't forget me.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
It's for me.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
It's asthma. It's the the paly gets in the lungs
and I get I call him the wheezy get a
little short.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Yeah, it's just you get the whistle, you know you
were and it sounds like you're whistling.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
That's the worst. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
At my my truck, it's black and you can see
the fine pollen mist.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
If I leave it outside.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Oh yeah, see that little pollen that dust, Yeah, on
the on the hood and so yeah, that's the tree pollen.
It's the grass pollen. Haven't really seen the ragweed and mold.
Those counts remain low right now, but those and those
typically hit in the fall. I think those are more severe. Yeah,
but you know, they always say keep your windows and

(01:29):
doors closed, especially on a windy day, because it can
blow that stuff in the house and then it's really hard.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Be happy you're not in Georgia. You see, it's springtime
in Georgia. It looks like snow. I mean, it's that
thick the pollen. So, I mean, there's at least a
little respite being in Ohio, but man, a lot it's
still it's just annoying.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
It is. It's just annoying.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Hopefully you just some over the counter type stuff, would
you know, help clear that up, whether it's some eye
drops or just some some allergy medicine. The hard rain
will be our and then a hard rain would kind
of clear it out at least for a little while, temporarily,
kind of cleans the air out a little bit. But
you start getting to these tempts like it was yesterday.
Yesterday was beautiful. Don't get me wrong. I loved yesterday,

(02:11):
but we got up near eighty degrees and the warmer,
it gets the stuff just really starts to pop into
the air and it just makes it makes it difficult
for people who suffer from allergies.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
It did feel so good, thought it was nice. Felt
so good.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yeah, we had we had to We went to we
had a lacross game yesterday that go.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yeah, they won.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
They went out to Jonathan Alder Middle School yesterday, which
and I live kind of in town and.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
That's a that's a day trip. That was a hike.
Oh sure that was up there.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Yeah, but uh yeah, the boys played well and I
got the wind. So but yeah, we're outside and in
shorts and T shirts. I felt really really nice. Hockey
without skates it's pretty much it. Yeah, I mean those
guys are physical, it is. It's a tremendous sport. But
having a lot of fun doing that and one hundred
days for President Trump in office, and you won't hear
many victory stories depending on what news outlets you choose.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
If you you know, watch.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
ABC News or NBC or CBS or CNN or MSNBC
or pretty much every print operation in the country, or
you know these some of these online news outlets, you
won't hear a lot of positivity.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
And to be fair, there is.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Some positive notes in Trump's first one hundred days, starting
with the border.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
It's secure, plain and simple. You know.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
I think Trump's line, as turns out, we didn't need
new policies, we needed a new president. And that couldn't
be more true. Just enforce the rules on the books
and you're good. And that's what they've done. They've stopped
the flights. I mean they think about that. The Biden
administration was flying people to this country on your dime. Yeah,
that's maddening. So border secure inflation is down. It's still

(03:56):
not quite where you want it to be. I think
it's set two percent or a little less than that
is kind of the ideal range. Where we're at two
six ish, but it's down from the three percent range
it was. So inflation down a little bit DEI. You know,
some of the social justice type stuff is being exposed
and eliminated.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
That's going to take some time, but we're off to
a good start there.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
And then the wasteful spending cutting wasteful spending billions and
built one hundred and sixty billion dollars in government waste
and fraud has been eliminated from Elon Musk's Doze group.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
That's a big deal.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
If you could, if you, you know, paired that down
and you realize you were wasting one hundred and sixty
bucks a month on crap and you figured out how
to eliminate that, that's a win.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
I don't I don't care who you are.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
I don't like it so that it's only one hundred days.
I would rather have an evaluation after a year. One
hundred days is awfully short, and even get you any
president you're going to see, depending on who you are, are
going to see more negative or more positive ending.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
But it's three months. I mean, that's a that's a
drop in the bucket.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
So yes, an awful lot has been accomplished in those
one hundred days.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
But I'm still one of those guys like to you,
a year is more of a.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
I think it would be more of a a guiding
post or you can.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
An evaluate, right, because you can you can then see
the results. We don't know yet. It's too soon to
see the results of terrorists.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Right. It's a big country. Nothing moves fast.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
And if you want to be critical, let's be fair.
I'm an open minded guy most of the time. If
you want to be you can be critical of the
way that some of the tariffs were implemented and sort
of the hurky jerky way that you know they're on,
then they're paused, now they're back on again. So if

(05:48):
you want to be critical and point the finger at something,
that would be something I would look at and say, well,
you know, but then again, and then I'm going to
contradict myself. If you're ripping the band aid off, you're
gonna feel a little bit of a sting, but you
rip the band aid off quickly to avoid a longer sting.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Right, the band aid comes off quick.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Yeah, it's not ideal, but you rip the band aid
off to eliminate the long term pain. So to your point,
camp be, we won't know the results of tariffs for
a while. I think we need to get some time
under our belt, and again, they could be eliminated before
they even really get started. And that's what we're gonna
check in with Ryan Schmels on Ryan Smells, Fox News.

(06:29):
Trump's first one hundred days and he is in Michigan.
Largely it's believed that he's going to at least pause
or roll back some of the automotive tariffs today.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
What are you hearing, Ryan, Yeah, I've not heard that,
but yeah, now I wouldn't be shocked. You know, he's
already put a pause on a number of them. He's
going to Michigan, which is a huge state for auto manufacturing,
so you know, I would expect this to be a
big focus of the speech to I think he's gonna
probably focus a lot of his time on the border too,
because you know, that's probably one of the things that
Republicans consistently point to as the biggestcomplishment of the first

(07:00):
one hundred days because it's been such a drastic change.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, I just you said you weren't up to speed
on the rolling back or at least some discussions of
there's good faith efforts to move manufacturing back to the US,
and they're going to really discuss the trade the tariffs
in Michigan today with respect to automakers, and you know,
the reduction will prevent automakers who are already paying tariffs

(07:27):
from also being hit with some duties on steel and aluminum,
so they're not necessarily getting you know, the double whammy here.
So that's what's expected that Trump's going to say today,
which would be good news for the auto industry.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
Yeah, certainly. Yeah, And we just got this memo from
the White House not so long ago about his economic numbers.
You know, they're talking about statistics here. President Trump has
created three hundred and forty five thousand jobs and taking
offs in January. One hundred and eighty eight thousand, fifty
percentities were non government and government adjacent sectors. Of dramatic

(08:00):
improvements in the last two years of the Biden administration,
win three fourths of all new jobs were in government
or government adjacent sectors. So you also tying into the
government funding side of things too there.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yeah, And then you know you mentioned cutting wasteful spending
before you got on in the first one hundred days,
which I think is a weird and we can talk
about that separately. It's sort of a weird mile post
a weird benchmark. One hundred days. Really, it's hard to
accomplish much of anything in one hundred days. But look
at Doge and Elon Musk. I mean, according to that organization,

(08:35):
they have cut over one hundred and sixty billion dollars
in wasteful government spending.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
I mean that's I.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Don't care who you are, where you line up, cutting
wasteful anything is a good thing.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
Yeah. Of course, Democrats are probably pushed back and say
that not all of that was wasteful spending, because there
have been programs that they cut and they were trying
to bring them back. But what's interesting is that we
are expecting to get our first Recisions package this week,
which is a package the White House can send to
Congress and pretty much Congress can pass it on a

(09:06):
simple majority, and therefore, any government funding that's in that
Recisions package, it's gone and it's legal, and it's going
to be very hard to challenge those things legally. That
Democrats have used the courtrooms so far in order to
stop some of this stuff, Well, if Congress passes a
recisions package, it's gone for good. So with the first one,
we're expecting we'll have cuts the NPR, PBS as well

(09:29):
as USAI d.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Interesting and that when is that expected to be voted on.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
They're going to get delivered this week. The chairwoman for
the House up actually told me yesterday an interview that
it is going to be voted on, likely next week
