Speaker 1 (00:00):
On the Legacy Retirement Group dot com phone line. Look

(00:02):
who it is. It's our buddy, Alex Trancephiliau. He is
the chairman in Ohio Republican Party. It's been a minute, Alex,
how are you, man?

Speaker 2 (00:08):
I'm doing great to be with you.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
You are a Cincinnati guy. Uh at your thoughts on
this situation with this this all. It's been a week now.
It was last weekend, this brawl. The video has gone
viral at three in the morning. I think there was
a music festival, there was a Reds game. There's a
lot of people downtown Cincinnati. I still don't know how

(00:30):
this fight got started, but it's become racial. But you
see the video of this grown man. These are not juveniles.
But these aren't kids in a in a gang type
of fight or something. These are adults. You see a
grown man punch a middle a sucker punch a middle
aged woman right in the head. She goes down. It's

(00:51):
hard to watch. Actually she goes down. Her eyes are open,
but she's not moving. It's now I see that the
FBI and the d o J are investigating the moab attack.
What are your thoughts? What do you know?

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Well, I have a lot of thoughts. First of all,
I'm embarrassed as a Cincinnati and as an Ohio political leader.
I'm you know, I'm committed fully more than I've ever been.
You know, guys, I won't give you my full resume,
but you know I was a prosecutor in my early career.
I was a judge in my community on two different courts.
I left being a judge, you know, gosh, seventeen eighteen

(01:22):
years ago now. But I will tell you that what
we have witnessed here is just the latest in what
has become the decay of America's big cities. And Cincinnati
now has made national news with our chaos, the chaos
that goes on practically every night, especially in the summer,
in our city. And it's unacceptable. And look, we see

(01:45):
strong action from Senator Marino. We've heard the governor chime in.
I mean, it's these cities run by Democrats exclusively, I
can tell you. In Cincinnati, the Democrats control almost all
of the judge ships, they control the entire Cincinnati City Council,
they control the County Commission. So the Democrats hand their
hands on the levers of power to enforce the law,

(02:06):
and just hand out tough sentences and to do what's necessary. Look,
my mantra has been and I've been living this out
on my social media really for years, and it's pretty simple.
It's more cops, more jails, and longer sentences that would
solve this problem or at least put a significant dent
in it. One more quick reaction though, and I you know,

(02:27):
crime statistics are some of the most misleading statistics in
all of American public life. Our crime number ought to
be close to zero. There should be no unsafe neighborhoods.
We tolerate too much of this, gentlemen, we tolerated as
a society. We have allowed and certain quote bad neighborhoods

(02:49):
do exist. No, no kid, I don't care where they live,
should feel unsafe. When Cincinnati, we've had two or three
kids take stray gunshots. We've had kids killed, chills, chldren
killed from stray gunshots, from the criminal element in our
city shooting at each other. No, that's not acceptable. So

(03:09):
we tolerate too much of this on Cincinnati's just the
latest example. The rot that's happening in these Democrat controlled
cities must end, and we as Republicans need to speak
out and I didn't tend to do that.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Well, you're you are spot on, my friend, because the
same situation is here in Columbus. I'm sure you heard
me in the lead in there with the crime. Here,
it's all being done by kids. It's all being done
by juveniles because the punishment isn't as steep and severe,
and the juvenile courts need to act and they need
to step up and stop this type of thing from happening.
But with regard to this, this this brawl, councilwoman Victoria

(03:47):
Parks in Cincinnati. Did you see this that she posted
on Facebook? There was a they post, someone posted the video,
she commented, and her her comment was quote, they begged
for that beat down. Now, I know that council umbers
don't necessarily have a political affiliation. She is a Democrat.
I think the entire city council in Cincinnati are made
up of Democrats. Listen, Alex, Nobody begged to get sucker

(04:10):
punched in the head. No one begged for that. She
should resign immediately.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
So that kind of overheated rhetoric, and we've heard it
from others as well, is disgusting. It's wrong. But you know, look,
we can focus on some of the social media and
everything else. But really, and I know you guys are
talking about this, and this is what I intend to
keep talking about. We have to get Democrats, frankly, to
understand that this won't be a part of an issue

(04:36):
if they would just take strong action and law enforcement
and begin to do what's necessary. Look, there is our
justice system in Cincinnati. And I shared with you guys
part of my background. It wasn't like this twenty years
ago when I was a prosecutor and a judge. It
just wasn't. It's a turnstyle now. I mean, we have
a couple floors of our jail in downtown Cincinnati that

(04:56):
are open with no inmates in it. When I was
coming up from this in the criminal justice in Cincinnati,
we needed more jail space. Things haven't gotten better, they've
just gotten worse. And people know and you know, look,
it's a small group of folks. It's not that many
folks who are recidibous, and you know they can be
pretty clearly identified. But we have these low bond settings.

(05:16):
We have again this revolving door in the justice system,
and you know, it's costing lives and you know that
that awful horrible assault, and you know, anyway, it's it's
it's an unfortunate period. I'm hoping that Democrats who control
these cities wake up and uh and begin to do
its right to do it, do it's right to protect lives.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Amen. Speaking with Alex Trantephila, Ohio GOP chairman, we'll switch
gears now, Alex, I hope that that situation gets resolved
and they continue to make arrest and the perpetrators get
there due punishment there. But let's talk about Ohio politics
and the governor's race. I would assume you've spent time
with the vake Ramaswami and the fundraising efforts continue with him.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Well, the vanke Ramaswami received our ear endorsement. We acted
early in this cycle in May of twenty twenty five.
Here we endorse the vike Ramaswami. His fundraising is off
the charts, over ten million dollars at this point raised.
I saw his I guess potentially one of his opponents
Amy act and talking about her one point seven million

(06:18):
or whatever that number was less than two million dollars raised.
You know, it looks money doesn't win elections, but it
certainly shows and demonstrates strong support and it will allow
us to get our message out. Vike Ramaswami is a
singularly talented individual. He's not owned by anybody. He's a
self made, supremely successful business guy. You know, working, you know,

(06:40):
grew up very middle class right in Cincinnati. I have
a long history with Vivegue, very proud of the campaign
that he's running right now. He's leading every single day.
He's going to do a town hall or some style
of public appearance here on Monday in Cincinnati to talk
about the violence that we've seen. So he's on the
day to day basis exhibiting great leadership. And you know,

(07:00):
we're thrilled that he's going to lead our ticket, and
we feel very very good about the vake and all
the things that he's going to bring to Ohio.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Have you heard anything about Shared Brown jumping in the
race on the Democrats side?

Speaker 2 (07:11):
You know, hear all these rumors, and you know, Sharon
Brown is yesterday. Is just no question. He's an old
school Bernie Sanders style far left extremist. He pretends to
be for working people, but his policies crushed working Ohio
and they woke up. They you know, they brought him
back here at Ohio. Bernie Marino, you know, beat him

(07:31):
last year, and I think that's that's yesterday. That's kind
of what the Democrats are about right now. It's a
bunch of you know, retreading an old politicians who just
have some similati of name identification. We are going to
talk about the future of the Vike. Ramaswami is the future.
He the Vike has a vision for this state, lowering
your taxes, making our streets safer, creating a world class

(07:54):
environment for people to grow businesses and raise their families.
So we're going to talk about the future. But yeah,
I hear these rumors about about the former senator retired
fired Senator Shared Brown
