On a what looks to be a pretty rainy holiday weekend. Unfortunately,
if we get to seventy today, which is the forecast
and high, we may not see seventy again until Monday.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Okay, thanks for that.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
I'm just again, I'm just reporting the facts, my man
U fifty eight Tomorrow, sixty one Friday, sixty seven Saturday,
and a chance of rain kind of in intermixed throughout
the couple of days here, so not ideal.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
You know what, I don't care. I will be grilling
this weekend.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
I bet you will.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Absolutely I will have the umbrella up and over the
grill or the smoker, and I don't care if it's
fifty five degrees and pouring down. I'm getting some dead
cow over flame. That sounds grow some fantastic all at
the same time, Yes, I'm going to be sleeping in.
Good for you. And uh yeah, well you've got next

Yeah, I have been. And that one just being honest, like,
let's go.

I saw the alert come across my phone yesterday afternoon,
and when I said to hear about, George went, yeah, George,
of course, Uh no, me, Norm most notably known from Cheers.
He was seventy six years old. His family said he
died Tuesday morning, early, peacefully in his sleep while at home.
And yeah, I mean, just a classic character on Cheers

with George Went and Normy.

Need everybody do you know?

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Not enough?

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Cut the small tug and give me a beer?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Hey, I was life drinking you Nom, I just ran
over its dog.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
That's perfect.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
I mean every episode, every time norm walked in, you
had had a quick one liner like that.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
I mean, that's this classic.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
My favorite one is when Sam asked him, a norm
what are you up to? When he said my ideal
weight if I were eight feet tall. It is still
one of the greatest ones.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
It's so good.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, I mean, in the in the the prime lineup
of Cheers with Ted Danson, Shelley Long, Rha, Pearlman, Kelsey Grammer,
John Ratzenberger as Cliff, Kirsty Ally, Woody Harrelson, of course
George Went. I mean, there was there was no better
show on television. I can remember my parents laughing out loud.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Oh, my parents too.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Yeah, and I got to see the reruns obviously as
I got older, but that was part of that Thursday
Night lineup that just skyrocketed NBC.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
H I mean, they were every they were all over
the place.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
And the funny thing about George Went is is he
really did love beer. He wrote books about beer. He
wrote a book called Drinking with George, A Barstool Professionals
Guide to Beer.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
I bet it's accurate as all get out too.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
He said.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
At one point, George Went said that Will Rogers famously
said he's never met a man he didn't like.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
He feels the same about beer. Awesome. He's a couple
of books about beer, so he was. He was pretty
true to character. There, so a rest in peace, George w.

TDN Sports Matthew, you're a you're a Cheers guy man?

Speaker 5 (03:11):
That was my show. Yeah you can't. But you mentioned
Thursday Night that's where must see TV. That's still use
that today TV. That was NBC's Thursday Night motto. That's
where that came from. Cosby Show and Cheers and all
that La Law Night Court.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
I think was in that line family ties. The writing
on some of those shows. I mean, look, I get
that people are streaming TV now like it's just insane
how many different shows and series there are out but
just the writing then was so crisp and so spot on,
so efficient that there was no fluff. It was just

one liner after one liner after one liner. It was
so good.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
It was really good. You know, George went. His nephew
has gone on to be rather popular. Jason did Sadekas.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Oh, you're kidding, that's his nephew.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
That is his nephew, Jason Sadeika's ted Lasso. You know,
yeh Saturday Ight Live. That that's his nephew and his godson. Wow,
that's really cool. Yeah, so it runs in the family
there or the success there. But yeah, he one of
the great character actors and all time TV characters, Normy.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
The Great and his wife, by the way, was the
voice his real wife was the voice of Vera, who
was his fictional wife on Cheers who he would reference
and sometimes she would be on the phone because she
would call at the bar looking for norm and you
would hear her voice in the back on the phone
that

That was his real life wife, No kidding, Yeah, it
was pretty cool.
