I did hear that is going on downtown and fairgrounds
and stuff. No.

No, I'm talking about about a big gathering like minded
people reinforcing the right to keep and bear arms in
the country.

LAPD Firearms Range and Training Facility, located at nine ninety

(01:18):

If you haven't been, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
If you haven't been here before, I don't know why,
because today it is the place to be.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
It is Block days, guys, Good day. I wore my
glock shirt. You wore your glock shirt. You probably have
a glock on. Yes, yes, thirty, Yes, my capable forty five.
There you go, There you go. JC. You're missing Block Days.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
I have. I've got my Model I team right here
by my side, so that's good. But yeah, I've left
my Model thirtieth faith has Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Jac's getting some weather today. We hear well, guys.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
We are the owners of LPD Firearms Range and Training Facility.
In our active in law enforcement but for when hour
on Saturdays, we put together a group of firearm experts
to discuss new products in the market, training tips, and
oftentimes political topics surrounding the Second Amendment. Our commandment, though,
has always been to bring you the facts about our
industry and help listeners and customers with safe, responsible ownership
of firearms. Today today on this show, this is going

(02:14):
to be a good one, Ed, not just because you're
here today on the show, Jac's going to get a
started with some news and Jac, you have some good
news today too, right, Oh.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
We got some good news at some unusual news. So unusual,
it's good. So yeah, a lot of good stuff happening.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Great, we're going to get to that here in a second.
Block Days is today at the store.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
We've been talking about it for a while.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
If you wanted to come test out that block, if
you're in the market for one, or you just want
to try out some of the new models they are
here today. You can go up on the range. You'll
give you a couple of rounds, try them out. They
have giveaways. You can purchase one at a sale price
at twenty dollars off any clock new are used in
the case. Not a bad deal. Great, you don't see
that too often. And so that is going on today

(02:56):
through four o'clock at twelve thirty. Though at twelve thirty
watching on Facebook or YouTube. See we have a couple
extra guests, uh sitting here with us and they are
our good friends, Bella and Steve, and we brought him
in today. We had gone on Steve had the podcast.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
What's it called?

Speaker 6 (03:11):
Yeah, you came on Lawyer Talk, Lawyer Talk, Yeah podcast.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Yep, and Bella in law school, yes, and considering buying
your first firearms. So we kind of went through that,
what that looks like, how that plays out, And today
we kind of reversed the roles. You came into the
store and we went through what it would take to
purchase your first firearm and maybe it's not the right
thing for you, but we did it. We went through everything,
went to the ranging shots. So at twelve thirty, we're

(03:35):
gonna talk a little bit about that experience. Yes, so
we're excited about that. And what else do we have here?
We're gonna actually talk about a few glocks. Actually, I
do see someone in the audience here that he might
be up here in a little bit with that, we're
gonna we're gonna leave him for a minute that we're
gonna tease that one and stuff.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
But what else here? So to the right of me,
I have, of course, big ed. Good to see you,
Big Aggs. After you know, I got to work with
your son last night. Always a pleasure working with your.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Son, I heard. Yeah, he had to keep you in
line as usual. Yeah, he did back me up a
few times out there, but it was good. It was
good stuff. Jc's on the line. How are you handling
the snow up there?

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Jc?

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Oh, well, it's fortunately. I'll be leading this and coming
to the one coming back home. The wonderful Columbus here
just in a couple of days. So yeah, snow's here,
and it's cozy outside and about fifty mile on our
winds and little snow, so it's kind of exciting. Anyway.
I started looking at this, Eric, and every story I
have is good. This will be the first time I

(04:30):
can't even imagine when I don't have a negative story.
I've got about ten of them and they're all good.
So that's good.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Yeah, Well, before we get to.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
The good, Before we get to the good stuff, let's
start out on the bad note. Edward, are you done
cleaning your glasses there? Because it's Chicago update, what's it
like in the Chicago City?

Speaker 7 (04:49):
You don't want to know me. Let me just put
it this way. You're lucky to be up there where
you are, John, and we're lucky to be in Ohio
because we got sixty four homicides Chicago this week. With
this year or this year, I'm yeah, it's Janiue, you
might as well be this week. Yeah, pretty fresh. Two
and forty three shot.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Can you imagine that we're only it's March first today,
right too much into the year. Two hundred and forty
three people shot already in the city Chicago, who is
known for being, you know, very not supportive of the
Second Amendment.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
How do we that's the hardest place to buy a gun? Exactly.
It doesn't seem to be working out too good with
them here. Class switches are on sale there too, are they. Yeah,
you don't prosecute? How do you? You don't no reason
just to stop doing it?

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Right, Guys, if you missed the show, you can always
catch the podcast that's at six' TEN wtv in dot com.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Or on iHeartRadio speaker really any place you get your.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Podcast we are out there also On Facebook live ed
looks like we're up today with the sound and stuff and.

Speaker 7 (05:47):
On everybody's everybody's checking in and apparently we're coming across
the screen real good because nobody's complaining.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Good, good, good GOOD jc before we go to, you
one THING i wanted to throw out, there just you,
know it's an interesting, point sure what it, means but
we did in honor Of Block days this, week we
put out a email blast like we often. Do probably
have five thousand, people ten thousand people in a, database
so we put it out there just telling people That
saturday is the day to come For Block. Days, well

(06:16):
it is interesting. Enough we look at the stats and
there are always a number of the emails that get,
bounced and sometimes it's people who've changed email. Addresses sometimes
it's their email box is. Full but we started to
notice a trend this week And jac AND, i you
AND i talked about it last. Night the vast majority
of the bounces we, had and it was several, hundred

(06:36):
all had email addresses.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Associated with the highest. State so it is.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Interesting if you want to do a little social experiment,
here we're gonna send out something else and maybe call,
it you, know free pot and see if it goes,
through because certainly the ones that say you, know block
days OR, lapd none of them got through to the
to the end.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
User so you're trying to say that.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Someone i'm just pointing out the, observation it is blocking.
You that's what it appears to, be because every single
one was blocked that went to a dot EDU osu
dot edu, Address so go figure. That but that's why
it's a perfectly safe. Campus and that's why and that's
Why belle is in here looking at guns. Today so but,
nonetheless it was an. Observation more to come on, THAT.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Jc what do you?

Speaker 5 (07:24):
Got oh, well a lot of. Stuff BUT i think
we're really. Fortunate. Uh the new director of THE, Fbi Cash,
bettel has also been named On monday as the acting
director of THE atf that is The alcohol The bureau Of, Alcohol,
Tobacco firearms And, explosives Which biden had weaponized to the

(07:46):
point that the attack on every angle The, democrats, honestly
there's not as a. Conspiracy they want to do everything
you can to take your rights to own a. Firearm
so what they were doing was cracking down who sells FIREARMS.
Ffl so they were trying to reduce the number Of
federal firearms licensees and every which way they. Can so

(08:08):
the industry is just applauding the fact that now we
Have Cash, betel who's the acting director until they appoint.
Director but now we're hoping that as The National Shooting
Sports foundation says that THE atf will return to its
proper role as a law enforcement agency focused on combating
violent crime and illegal firearms, trafficking and they're confident the

(08:30):
Acting Director, brittel will view members of the firearm, industry
including people like ourselves licensed firearms, dealers AS ats partners
on the front line of keeping firearms out of the
wrong hand and combating illegal firearms trafficking and preventing violent
crime involving the misuse of, firearms which is what we
should be, doing and that's the way it always had

(08:51):
been until The biden administration came in and made THE
atf basically our. Enemy so we're really well coming this,
change so looking, forward looking forward to. That another a good,
STORY i mean The bureau Of Industry INSECURITY i mentioned
last week or maybe this week, before but, anyway when

(09:14):
The trump came, in he decided to look at everything
that was going on on The avide. Administration, unfortunately he
paused the processing of all export licensing for all, products
and this of course affected the firearms. Industry but now
with The National Shooting Sports foundation had the discussion with
B I s and and so right now everything is

(09:34):
back to. Normal they listed all all the bands and
licenses are now being. Processed so that's a big aid to.
That here's a here's a big one that we need
to talk, about and we Mentioned i've mentioned it over the,
years but now The Houses senate committees are holding hearings
on Veterans Second amendments. RIGHTS i, mean there are six

(09:56):
million veterans out there over that in The United. States
and when The democrats came in Under, Clinton Bill clinton
had a, change a real negative change on veterans benefits
involving The Second. Amendment and so right now the chairman
of The house And senate committees On Veterans AFFAIRS us

(10:17):
Of Representative Mike bost And Senator Harry morgan and my
Favorite senator From, Louisiana John, kennedy they've introduced The Second,
amendment The Veterans Second Amendment Protection. Act in The, house
IT'S hr ten forty one if you want to look it.
Up in The, senate it's number for seventy. Eight but
this legislation would reverse the controversial and long standing policy

(10:42):
by which veterans are stripped of their constitutional right to
even possess a filon and this is without due process
simply because they've asked for assistance which is available through
The Veterans. Administrations they were they assigned a fiduciary to
help them manage going through all the paperwork and getting

(11:03):
that straightened. Away, well under The clinton, administration they have.
FOLKS i, mean these are just. Clerks they're unelected. Bureaucrats
and what they've done is if you ask for this
kind of assistance under The Veterans administration as a disabled,
veteran they automatically have marked you down and as a mental.

(11:27):
DEFECTIVE i mean there's no, adjudication it's just, oh you're
asking for this fiduciary help through THE. Va, well guess
what you are now considered a mental Defective and what
they do with that they turn it into mix The
National instancramental background a check system of THE, fbi and
so THE fbi marks it down and therefore you're marked

(11:47):
as a mental. Defective you cannot even possess a, firearm
let alone them purchase a new. One and this came
up several years ago where veterans are complaining that, hey you,
Know i'm going and get some help here THAT i
went to buy a firearm and they say, No i'm
permanently blocked from ever owning one or possessing. One and
When Senator grassley looked at this a couple of years,
ago he found out that people on the next list

(12:09):
that were marked mental defect of all, people ninety nine
percent of them were. Veterans and it turns out that
this is because of what The democrats did way back.
Then this has been going on since nineteen ninety. Eight,
well The Second amendment Of Protection act would prohibit THE
va from sending the veterans information to THE fbi check

(12:31):
put him on that list unless a judge or a
court has adjudicated this specific case and deemed that the
person would be a danger to themselves or. Others so before,
that this mental defective didn't require any finding that they
were a danger themselves from metally ill. Suicidal it just
puts you on that. List so hundreds of thousands and

(12:52):
so what has happened the words, Out so now veterans
are not going to seek any kind of, counseling they're
not having the finduciary stuff. Processed they know that if
they go in and do, that they'll be banned forever
For Second amendment. Rights and it's just these senators that
come up and you, know they, said this is so
wrong that they can continue to be stripped to these.

(13:15):
Rights so they want to get this bill. Passed they
want to send it to send it To President trump to.
Sign but think about that that these veterans are now knowing,
this are not even seeking out the benefits they're entitled
to because they know that they'll be able to put
them on this.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
List AND gc reporting on this almost as we've been
on the air and we have someone here who is a,
veteran is what's your thought on?

Speaker 1 (13:38):
That?

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Frank, yeah so this Is Frank lerosso has a secretary.

Speaker 8 (13:40):
State so it lacks common, sense, Right we want our
veterans to take advantage of the benefits that they are.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
Owed we also want these, people.

Speaker 8 (13:48):
Who are by the, way highly trained and proficient with
firearms to be able to protect themselves and their. Families
i've always had this very simple idea that the more
good guys and gals with, guns the, Better and this
just fails the common sense. Test just one of many
things that this, administration in This, congress in This senate
needs to put. Right it's about taking this the wrongs

(14:08):
of the past and and putting them.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Right and there's a lot of work to be.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
Done that is the voice of Mister.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Franklin either it Is Franklin road or a guy who
came in with the jacket that said.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
DAY i don't know these.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
Days i'm just shopping.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
HERE i, KNOW i.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
Know we drug you up, here. Guys let's jump to
a break and we come back on the other. Side
we're going to talk a little bit about, blocks a
little bit more. News we're On targio broadcasting live from
the studios of L Apd Firearms.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Range will be back after the.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Break little shout out to The Blue jackets game in
the highest stadium.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Today.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Huh there you go playing. Today huh in the highest. Stadium, yes,
side yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
SHOUTS i was, Kidding, ERIC i was. KIDDING i Was
bella on the weather. Too not bad for your first
time under. Pressure it's not.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
Bad she's not coming Every, saturday taking away my. Chance
if she shows, up Maybe i'll have her here Every. Saturday,
edward all, right welcome, back. Career there you, go it's
not too. Late welcome back To Ontario broadcasting live from
the studio of L Epd Firearms. Range just block days
here at L. Epd a lot of hustle and bustle going.
On come check out a glock if you've never shot one,

(15:08):
before you want to try a new model. Out it's
a really cool model Is actually we have a couple
here on the. Desk they've came out with a few
where the optic edward is integrated right in to the site.
Itself and these are aim points and what's neat about.
Them it's a model of an aim point that you
can't purchase. Otherwise and they come on the. Block we've

(15:29):
been when we can get and we've been selling a.
Bunch but they have a lot up there on the. Range, Stated,
shoot have you seen that?

Speaker 1 (15:33):
ONE i think not. Yet, yeah that's pretty. Cool, yep, yep. YEP,
Jc i'm telling you you're missing.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
It oh, yeah but it was worth it being, here
just listening To bella the Wonder weather wonder. Woman she
sounded great on the radio. Here thank, You, yeah, yeah. Terrific,
HEY i know you. Have this actually falls in line
with you because another news story Is The New York
times amazingly discovered that every Day america guns want gun,

(16:01):
ownership and they. Said The New York times published a
rare and honest look at the growing number of new
gun owners and found out that not only do Everyday
americans value gun, ownership but many of the new gun
owners are breaking the. Stereotypes so a lot of people go,
a it's a gun, owners it's got to be a.
Male and they're finding out that more and more women

(16:22):
are jumping on the bandwagon first. Time and the person
who did this, Article jenner russall give her a name
because it's such a good. Article, anyway she was Writing
The New York times discovered that those who never ever
thought they'd be gun owners suddenly are and the very
varied reasons Why Second amendment rights are. Important and so
she went all across the country and talked to them like, men, women, young, old, black, white, trans, gay.

(16:48):
Whatever she talked to everyone just to see what is
going on, here and it was amazing she. Did there's
a brief film on it that you, watch but she
is interviewing these everyone from a doctor Said i'll never
own a, gun and why he got one and he
lives In california and his reason was just a growing cultural,
unrest he, said just you, know people against me AND I,

(17:10):
semitism and then they have all sorts of other things
and the cartels are. Coming so that was his. Reason
another one who swore she would never ever own a,
gun but she happens to be, gay and she said
she feels sometimes threatened one outside going to some places
where people find that she's obviously, gay and she says,

(17:31):
that you, know she just feels what she needs. Protection another,
gentleman who is A chinese, guy just, said, hey this
entire family was wiped out in the wars in the,
past In World war two and, anyway AND i guess He's,
korean part of me World war two In, korea but
he just said self reliance was his. Reason but most of,
them you, know are just for the. Protection someone just

(17:53):
has a. Family they feel like they have to protect their.
Family and but the new, owners seemed to be women
are now predominantly the growth group out there as far
as owning. Guns people thought they'd never owned one are
now buying. It so it's a it's a great, story
and you may fall into one of those bella as
far as, Indeed and the other THING i loved about

(18:16):
it was the ones you interviewed said not that we
did not want to own, one but now we own.
Several one guy with.

Speaker 8 (18:22):
The Jabella, well and here's the built in advantage that
women have when it comes to Concealed carrie is If
eric was walking around carrying a, purse people would look
at him kind of.

Speaker 4 (18:31):
Funny but for women you kind of expect.

Speaker 8 (18:33):
It and there's some now that have custom made of
pouches in, it draw and everything.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
Else it's very convenient way to.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Conceal if these day jib doesn't work out for you
can come tell, here you, know right there and the other.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
Thing.

Speaker 5 (18:44):
Bella i've been an instructor for over twenty years and
for new people who are shooting women out shooting men
about eighty percent of the. Time what the new, folks
they just have this natural. Ability they don't have anything to.
Prove they just want to, learn want to, shoot and it's.
Amazing but but, yeah.

Speaker 9 (19:03):
It doesn't really surprise me too much BECAUSE i never
thought i'd own a. GUN i never thought i'd really
have to UNTIL i moved To columbus AND i live.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
Alone i'm a.

Speaker 9 (19:11):
GIRL i don't always feel safe leaving the, house especially at,
night SO i definitely wanted to look into, it and
then when you came on our, PODCAST.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
I was, Yeah AND i think there's a cultural shift, Too,
john because it when we, started it seemed to be
the younger generation almost was in grain kind of anti,
gun and now it's kind of is like a you,
know the cool thing to, do and we're getting a
lot of young people interested in. It doesn't mean they
have to carry every day or they buy a lot of,
guns but they're. Interested they're no longer shunning it because

(19:39):
oh it's the it's the awful. Gun so it's it's
kind of neat to see that bounce back and.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
When you try it you find, out, hey this is actually.
Fun you can do it in the winter or do
it outside, things and it's it's just it's. Good it's
good for coordination and it is a way to protect.
You the Old Colonel cole, said you, Know god created,
man But Colonel colt made him. Equal so it is an.
Equalizer so if you feel you, know when you have

(20:06):
it and you have mastered, it which you need to.
Do whoever buys one you need to get. Training just
go purchase one and stick it. Inodor you really need
to know how to use these, safely store them, safely
and be responsible with. Them so we have a lot of.
Training we OFFERED lapd for that.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Absolutely and you, Know jac we're talking about glock date
obviously the focus on glock today and we were talking
off air a little bit frank and that. TOO i
DIDN'T i didn't start out being a big block.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Fan just.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
WASN'T i, Mean AND i think to your, point you
know it's a plastic gun and.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Stuff tell us about your.

Speaker 8 (20:37):
EXPERIENCE i used to be one of those glock. SKEPTICS i, thought,
oh plastic parts are for, toys you know what it.
Is and then WHAT i had experience doing is traveling
To iraq AND o six we were there training The
Iraqi police. Force they were issued The glock. Nineteen so
we were out there doing missions with these. Guys we,
thought well we should carry what they're carrying so we
can cross level ammunition and that kind of. Thing so
we spent a lot of time on the range with

(20:58):
These iraqi police officers are shooting The glock, nineteen seeing
the thing actually in the, field it gets grit in,
it it still fires. Reliably it's a great. Firearm and
the Whole block. Range i've become a big. Fan i've
got a little forty three THAT i use for concealed.
Purposes IT'S i, mean The glock range is their great fire,
arms very, reliable AND i find that just it fits
in my, hand, well it shoots, well it's, comfortable great.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Gun, yeah and it's. True, Ed, YES i can't. Believe i'm.

Speaker 7 (21:25):
SORRY i was responding to a. CUSTOMER i like, YOU
i did not want to touch a. GLOCK i didn't
like the looks of the, glock BUT i was looking
for something that was, smaller that carried the forty, five
that gave me.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
More options on. Rounds.

Speaker 7 (21:38):
Yep and at the, time AND i still think pretty
much right, Now, yeah you're still the smallest frame thirty
sep that holds the maximum around forty five, rounds and
it's comfortable to, carry, Yep AND i carry it all
the time When i'm off dutey AND i love.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
It and we make fun of. Them there's, nothing there's
no faintiness about. Them they all pretty much look the.
Same but the advantage is they all look the, same
and whether you go from the three eighty to the
twenty two to the nine to the, ten it's the
exact that you know what you're, getting and there's.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Something to be said with.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
THAT i, mean it's IT'S i don't want to say
it's no, frills because they're certainly you, know they, work
and they work.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Well you can trick them. Out you got all this
stuff here to do that exactly.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
So and with the with the add and the optics
now and with what they're putting the optics right on
the slide and coming like, that it's a it's a game.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Changer so stop by and check them. Out. Guys we're
gona jump to theottom of the hour.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
News when we come, back we're gonna talk To bella
And steve talk to her about her experience and possibly

we verified that was meatballs.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
Too.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
Yeah, good and then yak, sausage lollipops, okay, yes coyote emphasados, okay,
okay and then we wrap that up with a python lettuce.

Speaker 6 (24:21):
Wrap it sounds, YEAH.

Speaker 8 (24:24):
I mean it's a green beret they used to call
a snake, eater so MAYBE i should.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Go i'm telling you walleye for the.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
Table and then the second, course we're gonna have A
cajun pheasant with bobcat. Chowder yeah, yep and then smoked
pheasant and bobcat sausage will also be on the. Table
got roasted duck coming after, that the dirty beans and
rice with ALLIGATOR i heard is.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
Great there now are something that tastes like, chicken, yes
venison steak and then what else we got?

Speaker 3 (24:51):
There all roast to duck and then we we ended
up with a dessert of peanut butter and bacon blondies
for the.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Table, wow it sounds.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
LIKE i got to check that.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
Out, yeah, seriously it is really.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
Good if you haven't if you haven't been to something like,
that and certainly tickets are still available out.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
There is our Buddy paul going to be, There, Yes
i'm sure.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
Yep And jim so guys at the table today we
talked About bella And. Steve we should probably do more formal. Introduction,
steve you are a defense attorney right here in.

Speaker 6 (25:19):
Town, Yeah Steve, palmer criminal, defense, lawyer, defense.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
And you do a lot of DEFENDING chl holders and so.

Speaker 6 (25:26):
FORTH i.

Speaker 10 (25:27):
Do I've i've defended people who have had to use
their weapon, unfortunately even charge with, murder and fortunately we've
we were successful one hundred percent on those so. Far But,
uh anybody out there thinks that just because you, can
you won't have a problem with the law enforcement.

Speaker 6 (25:40):
Later, uh it's always a. Concern.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Yep definitely definitely something to think about long before it ever.
Happens think about what happens if you're in this. Scenario
and Then, bella what's your?

Speaker 9 (25:49):
Story i'm currently a TWO l At Capitol Law. SCHOOL
i guest star On Steve palmer's. Podcast it's called lawyer.
Talk that's kind of how we ended up here.

Speaker 3 (25:59):
Too AND i think what started this relationship is you
had mentioned that you were interested in, it maybe your
first fire so still living by, yourself, younger female and.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Stuff so we thought we.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
Went, On we went on your, podcast talked a little
bit about, that and then today we kind of flipped.
It had you come in this door and kind of
started from, scratch asked, you, really you know, why why? Now,
why at this point in your life have you decided
that you, know WHAT i may consider a firearm and
maybe even carrying that Fire i'm going?

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Forward what brought you to that?

Speaker 9 (26:31):
Point kind of like WHAT i was saying, BEFORE i
never really THOUGHT i would need, one but NOW i live,
ALONE i live in Downtown. COLUMBUS i just don't feel
safe all the. Time MAYBE i watched the news too
much or maybe, not maybe not, enough BUT i just
wanted to feel safer WHEN i leave the. HOUSE i
wanted something small THAT i could keep with, me BUT
i for sure want to take courses and make.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
SURE i know how.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
To did you realize going into, it how many little?
NUANCES i, Mean i'm sure initially you, Thought, okay it's
to be a good. Thing but as we talk about
on your, Show steve and then here this, morning there's
a lot that goes with carrying a.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
Firearms it's a lot of.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
Responsibility and one of the things you have to ask
yourself is DO i have the ability within myself to
take to potentially take someone's.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
Life and that's a big. Thing and sometimes we get
people who come in and they, say, NO i just
want to scare. Them that's not for.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Them, yeah that's Not there's other things to, have other
avenues to go, down because you need to be confident
that if it's between me or, Them i'm going, home
my family's going home. Tonight and SORRY i had to
use force against you if death, Happened, hey you put
me in that. Position you have to have that fight,
mentality and so we talked about.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
THAT i think that was the.

Speaker 9 (27:40):
Hardest part for me for a long. Time my parents
have wanted me to get a gun or look into
getting a gun for a long, time but, yeah just that.
FACTOR i do have to take someone's life at the
end of the, day LIKE i, know it's me or,
Then but that still is.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
A lot of fun because we don't grow up in.
Society you don't grow up looking to hurt. Someone, typically
you know you don't grow up you know you don't
you don't want want to and still inflict harm on.
Someone but, unfortunately you have to take that attitude that
If i'm protecting myself and my, family it's it's me
or you And i'm going. Home or if you get
the best of, me it's going to be the hardest

(28:13):
person you got the best of you, Know i'm going
to go down.

Speaker 8 (28:16):
Fighting anybody that's nonchalant or like not serious about this
hasn't really thought about. It for people in law enforcement
or in the, military we've had to think about. This
for someone who's considering buying a, firearm you have to
think about the act of taking a life as a
incredibly Serious your life will change. Forever rights as a
defendant now in a criminal, case most likely you're going.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
To live with that for the rest of your.

Speaker 8 (28:40):
Life but you've got to be comfortable with this person
was threatening my, life trying to take my, life AND
i decided THAT i wanted to live to see my grandchildren,
right AND i want to be able to protect myself
and into.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
That you have to and we do it in law.
ENFORCEMENT i know you did in the.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
Military you have to think through those scenarios long before
they happen and prepare for.

Speaker 10 (28:58):
Them, yeah and you, know you guys are the you
know what to, do AND i get them on the
other side when people have had to use their, firearms
And i've had a number of situations where people pull
their firearms and.

Speaker 6 (29:07):
Weren't quite sure what to.

Speaker 10 (29:08):
Do and that's, why you, know when it came up
on our podcast with self, DEFENSE i was, LIKE i
got just the. Guy, yeah because training is, everything and
it would say it helps me help people, later, right
you know what they're.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
Doing and, So, belly you walked in the store, today
there's probably eight hundred guns in the.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Case were you a little?

Speaker 9 (29:23):
Overwhelmed, NO i didn't feel overwhelmed BECAUSE i KNEW i
was only gonna go for the smallest ones or what
you would recommend would be best for.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Me and that's where you. START i, mean that's the
first question we.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
Asked are you looking to purchase the firearms for home
defense and going to the range or is this something
you might consider carrying going.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
Forward and that really splits the cases in. Half and
then when you.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Start to look about you talk about you, know now
have you thought about? Carrying get you start to kind
of get a sense on the firearms that are in that.
Category and then we started going through, them and you
walked in today with the Revolver Smith Western, revolver one
of my, favorites and what was Your you thought that
that was going to be the.

Speaker 9 (30:01):
ONE i thought that would have been the one for
me because it seemed the most, simple if that makes,
sense to. Handle but when we actually went to shooting,
THEM i knew that that was my last choice out
of all of.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
Them.

Speaker 7 (30:13):
Yeah, well that's good that you got out there to
be able to see right then and, there, now this
is not WHAT i decided THAT i should.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Carry so were you surprised when you thought that maybe
the revolver wasn't right for? You what were some of
the things that pointed you towards the semiatos in?

Speaker 9 (30:29):
General i'm a little less kickback the, recoil, yep, Right
AND i was nervous about the other guns because of
pulling it. BACK i thought that would be tough for
me in the, moment but it really you get used.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
To it so. Correct there's a technique.

Speaker 9 (30:46):
To, it, Right SO i THINK i adjusted to that pretty.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
Easily, yeah you. Didn't that really was an.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
Issue you loaded the, mags, WELL i mean that's always,
something but there's speed loaders out there you can you
can get to.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
Help you with.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
That but so and then the other things that that
you picked up that you saw was we laid several out,
there was that sometimes a revolver isn't always that easy to.
Conceal it's, Small, yeah but the cylinder at the end
of the, day you still, have you, know the width
of that, cylinder that's kind of the governing part of
it that can, print you know as we call, it
depending on how you're carrying.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
It SO i think. That and then also you picked
up on the.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Capacity you, know five rounds should in most situations certainly be,
enough but sometimes having ten, rounds you, know having the
confidence that you have that with, you or that you
have a magazine that you can carry extra is comforting
or give you an extra level of comfort on.

Speaker 6 (31:39):
That you know WHAT i was most.

Speaker 10 (31:40):
Impressive i'm gonna throwing back at you because we came
in here and even before we started all, THIS i
talked to some of your sales folks over. Here they
treated me.

Speaker 6 (31:48):
It was an easy.

Speaker 10 (31:49):
Experience there was no, judgment there was no condescending. Tone
SO i guess the TAKEAWAY i saw here today is
if you're not comfortable with a gun or you don't
know what to, get this is the place to come
because you guys really really took the pressure off and
made it easy for somebody who has no idea what
they're doing.

Speaker 9 (32:05):
To figure it out, Right and that IS i was
just going to, SAY i do want to thank you
for being so patient with. ME i really am so
new to all.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
THIS i don't and, honestly that's where we. Thrive that's
what we. Love we love taking that new shooter who
knows a little, bit but but we can educate. Them
that is that is our.

Speaker 9 (32:23):
FORTEE i definitely want to take some of your classes
that you were telling me about in the other.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
Podcast and it's not about selling. AGAIN i, mean our
guys don't work on. COMMISSION i tell. Them there's often
times they'll, say you know what we're not going to
say again, today take a, class try some, out and
then come back and, well because the worst thing you
want to do is sell something to somebody and then
they take the class and, say, geez IF i would
have known all of, that then MAYBE i wouldn't have
gone in this.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Direction what do you THINK jc is being a twenty year.
Trainer jc's.

Speaker 8 (32:53):
Speechless, Well i'll say, this familiarity, matters. Right the more
rounds you put down, range the more comfortable you get with,
it with, stance, withdrawing and let's face, it the moment
you have to use, it god, forbid it's going to
be one of those heart, pumping you, know hard. Breathing
you're gonna have a lot that you're thinking. About what's
beyond your? Target is there a? Wall is the bullet

(33:14):
gonna pass through? It there's a lot of things going
through your. Mind and so the more time you spend
on the, range the better you're gonna be and the
more confident you're gonna.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Be and like we talked about when we went to the,
range if you are in that life or desk situation
where you have to use your firearm to defend, yourself
it is not gonna first be at a time and
place you're. Choosing it's not gonna happen when, HEY i
got my extra mag, today my guns here AND i
got it going on. Today, no, no, no it's going
to be the time where you throw it in real,
quick you're running up to get some, milk and that's the.

(33:42):
Day it's not going to be at a time and
place of your. Choosing the other thing, is it's not
like on the range where how many TIMES i say
put your feet short length the? Parks, no, no, no
it's gonna. Be it could be one, handed it's going
to be all. Balanced you're probably not going to use your.
Sights and that's kind of what we talk about in
some of our. Classes we want to get people proficient
at that point shooting that up, close getting that person

(34:04):
off of. You you have the advantage that you're not
a law enforcement officer who is committed to running into
that you, know bank that's being robbed or whatever the
case may. Be you can just focus on yourself and
your family and getting them out of the dangerous.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Situation.

Speaker 9 (34:19):
Right that's HOW i loved how you had me do
it with one hand and then my left hand, too
just So i'm familiar with.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
It if off handed shooting is so, hard.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
But it. Was it gave her a level of.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
CONFIDENCE i, MEAN i knew she could do, it but
when you walk in you really have a little experience with,
firearms and now you're shooting with a non dominant hand
and you're, like AND i think one of your best
shots of the day we're with that non dominant. Hand you're, like,
hey look at. That it starts to build that, confidence.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
And it's a you, know you need to be.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
Proficient it pos this a perishable. SKILL i, mean it
will go away if you don't come in for another
year type of. Thing so so let's you DARE jc.

Speaker 8 (35:00):
A DRILL i like to do with with new, shooters
And i've done this with there's J. Yeah but, yeah
a new shooter tends to anticipate the, kick, right and
then they flinch and that actually causes. Inaccuracy SO i
do the thing Where i'll hand them a weapon that
has around or not and then see if they're just
dry firing and.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
They Still glinch likes them to not have that.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
Reaction, yeah and SHE i mean new.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
SHOOTER i mean she had some of that anticipation early,
on and it happened to be one of the. Firearms
the slide didn't lock, back so she thought she was
going to have another, round and so it was a
click and she was straight as as an.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
Arrow she did good with, that not anticipating.

Speaker 5 (35:39):
That SO, jc what do you, Think, yeah, yeah, Yeah
i've been, listening BUT i GUESS i wasn't on, Anyway
i'm going to go back to the one of the
first things we talked, about as far as you, know
taking someone's. Life when we, train the focus is stop the.
Threat stop the. Threat you, know you have no right
to take anyone's. Life you're not judge and jury and

(35:59):
Execut but if you get the mindset well just to
stopping the, threat stopping the, threat you shoot until the
threat to. Stopped whatever the outcome, is your goal is
to stop the. Threat so that's a that's an Important
it really helps without worrying about shooting this. Guy you,
know you just don't, know but you stop the. Threat
but as far as the, gun everything you're saying is

(36:20):
just absolutely. RIGHT a gun that fits your. Hand we always,
say had two hundred dollars gun to pitch your hands
better than a two thousand dollars gun that. Doesn't so
that's really important when you're doing. This the practice is.
Important and just like like Actually eric was, saying when we,
shoot you shoot two, handed you shoot strong, handed you
shoot weak handed because it is not your. Choice you

(36:42):
could be you, know attacked in close. Range someone can
grab your right. Hand you need to know how to
function the gun with, right left hand or both. Hands
so that's important, too and that just comes with. Training
but as far as the comfort, goes, uh, yeah it's
just a practice and we are very very good at.
That it's a small gun store vast. Experience. Uh you

(37:04):
know a lot of our folks are police officers who,
had you, know forty years of experience and and, anyways
it's a great place to. Learn BUT i really think
this will be great for.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
You.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
Yep, absolutely. Guys let's jump to a.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
Break when we come back on the other, side let's
talk a little bit about what you actually shot on
the range and your experience actually shooting them and versus what.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
You saw out here in the.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
Showroom we're on talking broadcasting live from the studios OF
Lapd Farms.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
Range we'll be back or right after the. Break now
that's that. One, yeah you, know public speaking there, right,
True and don't forget to get registered to. Vote there you.
Go are we back on that kick?

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Already always we have another election in like sixty.

Speaker 1 (37:41):
DAYS i couldn't? They, Yeah, wow what's the big ticket on?

Speaker 8 (37:45):
There, well there's a statewide ballot. Question it's a it's
a bonding issue for you, know for public. Improvements and
then there are a bunch of local primaries you may,
have like a mayor's race or a city council.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
Race it depends on where you.

Speaker 8 (37:56):
Are you can check on our website Vote ohio dot
gov to see exactly what's on your. Ballot but while you're,
there make sure your registered to, vote your address is.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
Updated there you. Go, yep, guys welcome back on. Talking
i'm your.

Speaker 3 (38:05):
Host eric joined today in THE Lapd, STUDIOS jc is
on the live line with. US i got big ed,
HERE i Got secretary Of State Frank LeRose who popped
in four glock.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
Days always good to see. You and THEN i have
as Mister steve And.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
Bella we're talking about your first, Experience bella shooting several.
Firearms not your first experience shooting a, firearm but going
through the paces of potentially picking one. Out so let's
talk about we got a couple of minutes left about
your going to the. Rain so we took to the
range a couple of different. Things we took the smith
And WESSON j frame small. Revolver we took A cig
three sixty five and nine, millimeters so a very popular

(38:39):
small consial carry. Gun we took The smith And Wesson
bodyguard two point, zero which is the New smith And
Wesson bodyguard getting a lot of. Attention then we took
an ARUGER, lcp probably the most concealable of the. Bunch
not the most fun to, shoot per, se but something
that you could probably conceal pretty.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
Good what'd you?

Speaker 9 (38:56):
THINK i liked the bodyguard, one the new one you
were talking. ABOUT i like that, one AND i did
like the very very tiny. One but the one you showed.
Me you said it had a longer, pole, Right but
the newer ones don't have. That SO i think IF
i shot the newer, ONE i would like. THAT i
know you said it wasn't as.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
FUN i.

Speaker 9 (39:16):
Don't i'm doing it more just to have, it just
to be, safe of, course of, course so that's something
to keep in.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
Mind THE lcp line is a very small guns.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
Nothing it's nothing you would take to the ring necessarily
and fire one hundred rounds to, it although you want
to be, proficient but it's not as enjoyable to shoot
than A maybi a four sized gun.

Speaker 6 (39:35):
Stand and AS i have pointed, out you don't have
to have only one.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
Gun there you.

Speaker 6 (39:38):
Go you will never have plenty of.

Speaker 8 (39:41):
Options gun people like to have this debate about what
size caliber they want. Everything i'm a fan of the three.
Eighty if you use a hollow point and everything, else
it's it's got decent stopping. Power not the same as a,
nine certainly not the same as a forty or forty.
Five BUT i like the three eighty for concealment.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Person and, also like we talked, about it is what
you're going to carry if if you are you, know
if you, say, hey the three sixty, FIVE i, Love
but ninety percent of the time you don't carry it
because you don't have the right clothes on or. Whatever
it's not doing what it needs to. Do i'd rather
you be very proficient in A lcp or something smaller
and have it with you every. Day so as you
went through, these you did pretty are on good one

(40:16):
of the things you, Shot BUT i think all of
these left and right, handed were you?

Speaker 9 (40:21):
SURPRISED i was surprised at. First it actually made my
arm quite. SORE i was kind of Really, yeah, well
the revolver.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
Has a lot of.

Speaker 9 (40:31):
Power it's not expecting. That but, YEAH i think The
bodyguard one would be my favorite so. FAR i think
that was the easiest for me to. HANDLE i practice
with both. HANDS i THINK i did, Okay, YEAH i did.

Speaker 4 (40:45):
Good and that's WHAT i use When i'm. Running when
you're out on a.

Speaker 8 (40:49):
Run the last thing you wanted some big old hog
leg dlinking around and so that three eighty you can
get the things that you wear here or whatever.

Speaker 4 (40:55):
Else it's really easy to carry with you run out.

Speaker 1 (40:58):
Right, yeah not too.

Speaker 9 (40:59):
Heavy this one was very. HEAVY i don't know.

Speaker 1 (41:01):
Why and that's the lightweight, then, yeah definitely not the
gun from.

Speaker 3 (41:07):
It, yeah so you, started you got a good flavor
on the different sites for all of, these and you
started to get an. Idea we didn't have the target
out that. FAR i only had it out twelve, feet
which is indicative of a potential. ENCOUNTER i, mean if
you have if you're shooting at a target to defend
yourself and it's seventy five feet, away you're going to
need steve because you need to be able to justify.

Speaker 6 (41:26):
That, well she came in with the.

Speaker 10 (41:28):
Fiarm she had it it had a laser sight, on,
right and you had some interesting comments on that on
whether that was something to start, with something.

Speaker 5 (41:33):
Not to have her.

Speaker 1 (41:34):
Head it has this.

Speaker 3 (41:35):
Place we're not big fans of it here in general
because we see a lot of people who lose sight
of using their, sights and so they're on the range
and they're trying to find the laser and you have
to make sure that laser, is you, know zeroed into the.
Barrel the one good thing from a concealed carry standpoint
is it is a. Turrent so if you put that
beam on the bad guy and it's one last chance
for him or her to turn around and maybe to

(41:57):
decide to go the other, way then there is a
value for.

Speaker 1 (42:00):
That we just don't like seeing people rely on. It
you need to be proficient with your with your, sight.

Speaker 9 (42:04):
RIGHT i thought the laser would be something THAT i.
Wanted and, again BUT i liked how you had me
practice with the other ones that didn't have, one because
it really doesn't make that big of a, difference not.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
To me right, right and you start to see you
start to see the laser shake. In you're, Like i'm shake,
In i'm all over the. Place and then you're.

of the neat things that you did at the very,

Speaker 3 (42:27):
Targets so we put a you, know a man sized
target up, there just to get a flavor on where you're,
hitting because sometimes we use these small targets and you get,
up you, know set THAT i didn't hit in the black,
well you know that there's something about competition shooting and
trying to shoot the blackout versus self. Defense and so
we put that full sized target up. There we PUT
i think five rounds in the bodyguard three eighty AND i, said,

(42:48):
look fire these as fast as you can in a safe,
manner get back on target and everything.

Speaker 1 (42:51):
Else and where were your? SHOTS i, WAS i did pretty.

Speaker 9 (42:55):
WELL i wasn't directly in the, circle but your center
mask me come on straight on in the.

Speaker 1 (43:00):
Middle there you. Go it's all that matters.

Speaker 3 (43:02):
All every single one of those shots would have stopped
the threat or would have inhibited the. Threat they were good,
shots but it started to give you that comfort level that,
heck even in rapid, secession look at THAT i put
them on the. Target you, know and that was just
that technique of you, know having your your feet apart
and punching straight.

Speaker 1 (43:18):
