Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, it's another pack show today and I'm going to
have to tell you one thing that occurred yesterday in Cincinnati.
Uh it, it's so disappointing. It has me furious, and
we're going to talk about it today. All that and
much much more up next on on Target. Good afternoon,
Welcome down Target. We're breadcasting live from the studios of

(00:21):
l EPD Firearms Range and Training Facility.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
We're located at nine nine to nine Bethel Road.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Apparently a lot of people know where that's at, JC
because it's packed in here, maybe because it's raining.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Who look at that crowd? Is that standing room only? JC?
I know it?

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Guys, Uh wow, what this stuff going on in Cincinnati.
We're going to get to it here at the bottom
of the hour.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
It is on our desk. I wonder what that means.
So that's had?

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Is that for you, Jason?

Speaker 1 (00:51):
I mean, it's it's just infuriating And for those of
you who don't know what happened twelve thirty, we're going
to talk about it in greater detail with FOP President
from down in Cincinnati Cincinnati area.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
We are the owners of LPED Farms Range and we
are active in law enforcement, but for one hour on Saturdays,
we put together a group of firearm experts to discuss
new products in the market, training tips, and oftentimes political
topics surrounding this Second Amendment.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Our commitment, though, has always been to bring you.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Facts about our industry and help listeners and customers with safe,
responsible ownership of firearms.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Jac.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
There are some things in life that just make you smile.
You know, the first time you go out to the
range and you fire your new gun, or teaching the
next generation about the importance of the Second Amendment, or
sometimes then this happened to me just recently, you go
into that box of holters that we all have and
you find a holster that you've had that fits your

(01:44):
new gun.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
I mean, that's just brings a smile to your face.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
I got about seventeen or eight into those sitting in
a box.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I haven't yes found a.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
New one yet.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
What also makes you smile is when Hiccock forty five
does a shout out to his eight million viewers about
LPD and on target.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Now, that makes you smile, Jac, So.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
That made me. That made me very happy.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
So did you see that out there?

Speaker 4 (02:08):
I mean I read it, I listened to it three times.
I said, I twice when I went and listened to
it another time this morning. It was really nice of
him to do that. I mean, he's got take million followers.
He could talk about anything. But having him on the
show was amazing. And when I saw the photograph of
all of us together, I didn't realize how short I
was in comparison with his six eight frame.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
But h Martin, you know who Hiccock forty five?

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Okay, well, he was with us for our five hundred
show two weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Drove up. I mean totally. You know, everyone's like, well,
how much does that cost cost? No?

Speaker 1 (02:39):
He I was talking to him and he's like, I'm
coming up for that. And then on his next video
when he says, hey, I'm back in town. I was
out of town for a few days. I was in
he says, something to the effecting and I was up
in Kentucky. Well, actually the trip was for to go
to Columbus, Ohio to sit with my friends over at
ELPD And he went on for two or three minutes.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
It was super neat.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
That's pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
It's just the type of guy he is. I mean,
he is just a down to earth, come and sit
with you.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
And I know this afternoon, when I get down here,
I'm gonna go pull it up and watch it.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah, it definitely it's definitely worth It's on our Facebook
page if you when to go see it.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Next week I want to talk about next week our
friend Spencer, who was the CPD officer who was fired
a few weeks ago, probably about couple months ago. Now,
we did a raffle raffling off a Smith and Weston FPC.
I believe the tickets are sold and we're gonna do
the drawing live on air next week. So for those
of you who bought raffle tickets next week, we'll be

(03:36):
doing that up here soon. We're gonna get JC in
the news. So much stuff. There was so much JC.
We spoke for what an hour and a half last night.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
I stayed up another hour and a half after that,
I figured, yes, we were there at the end of
the week.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
This week is sponsored by Jackson Egress Windows. It is
really neat. It's one we've been anticipating getting in super Neat,
had a bunch of people talking about it this week.
Wouldn't get to that up shortly. And then also there's
a there's something else too. It's kind of a gun
of the week two point oh that we're going to
talk about. It's not even a gun, but we're gonna
go through it in more detail next week. But it's

(04:10):
worth mentioning this week because it just came in the
door and again many people are talking about it. I
got to thank our friend mad from Lead and Steel
who came in came on last week. I want do
you know those guys? Do you know the Lead and
Steel guys that they make optics and stuff right here
in Columbus.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
I do not know?

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Really a neat company. And the owner and founder was on.
He grew up in Dublin, went to Ohio High State
with it, got his or his law degree and started
this company.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
It's really some good products. I have to show you
one later and stuff.

Speaker 6 (04:43):
Eric.

Speaker 5 (04:43):
We're two minutes of this already and I've got four
hours worth of research to do.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
I know, sorry, I.

Speaker 6 (04:50):
Know.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Guys. At twelve, yeah, give your head start.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Welcome to Jac's world.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
At twelve thirty, guys, we're gonna talk to Ken Kober.
He's Queen City, the FOP Lodge sixty nine president, and
we're gonna talk to him about an incident that occurred
in Cincinnati yesterday.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
We need to speak out about it. We have to
all be furious.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Whether you're in law enforcement or you're just a you know,
a citizen of the state. We need to talk about
it and be furious and say this is not acceptable
in our society and we need to speak out.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
It's just sickening what happened.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
So we're gonna talk about that at twelve thirty twelve
forty five. Our good friend Joe King from Black Wing.
Apparently we're too good for him to come in person,
and maybe the rain, you know, keeps him in and stuff,
but he's gonna come here. We're gonna talk about it
in an event that is happening in May ninth at
Black Wing. And along with that conversation, our good friend
Mark Leach's right here sitting with us today.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Well, thank you, sir.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
I know you didn't think you were ever gonna get
the invite back, did you.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
I thought I got fired permanently.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
But I know no, You're always welcome back here.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Well, I'm following up after hiccocks, so it can't be.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
All bad, right, That is true. That is true.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
We ran out of people to call him like, Hey,
that Mark guy. You know, maybe we need to have
him back over. But in all honesty, we're gonna have
our discussion with Joe at twelve forty five something. We're
all a part of Mark being with Vance Outdoors, Joe,
with Black Wing, US here at LPD. We all get
together and actually we get together quite a bit through
calls and stuff for an organization that's super important.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
Yes, when Scott first came to me a little over
three years ago about about what do you want to
do and what his goal was, I thought it was
going to be a ten minute conversation. We talked for
almost two hours and we've been running a hundred mine
hour for over three years now.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Right left side, Ohio is what we're talking about.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
And what a great organization we've been fortunate to be
a part of from the ground up.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Yes, so we're going to talk.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
About that in greater detail at twelve forty five. Got
to thank our sponsors US law Shield great company there
here a couple of times this week and who else
Jackson Egress Windows, who's sponsored the gun of the week
this week?

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Black Wing Shooting.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Centers, our friends up north in rivers Enation, cutlery all
who make the.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Show possible each week. So joining me today, of course
you heard the voice of j C. J C.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Yeah, And I'm just gonna say I'm feeling a little
anxious today. Uh if I but you know, my uh
my grandson is supposed to come. I was supposed to
see him, supposed to be here like two days ago.
Never showed up and so you know, a little little
concerned about him. So uh uh you know he's kind
of a mama's boy.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yeah, I've heard that second with my daughter all along.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
But uh, anyway, if he doesn't show up today, hopefully
I'll get to see him tomorrow as they induce his birth.
So my grandson Carson will be joining us tomorrow, come
hell on the show or not yet?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Well, I don't know. Maybe I could do that. You
know what's interesting.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
Uh you know I bought him his first rifle here
at this door about seven or eight years ago for
the little for the little rascal. Uh and actually that's
what I bought. It was a savage little rascal. But
uh and I know it's never too we're ready to
teach gun safety. But my wife says, you know, first
day out of the womb is probably not the time.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
To present him with all this stuff.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
May not have the impact as will later on, but anyway,
so awesome my first grandson.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
At least by Sunday.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
So awesome.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
I'm excited. It's great, great, great.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
That's not gonna impact you been here next week though? Right?

Speaker 3 (08:17):
No, it depends what Chris, my daughter says. I have
babysitting duties. Okay, I guess that's we just healthy, healthy
baby looks good so far.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
So Mark, are you available next week? In case Jay
he does the news every week, Well.

Speaker 5 (08:29):
I'm available, but probably not the expert that you have
because both my grandchildren are daughters. Okay, one is two
months old. Yeah, the other is seventeen and she has
her own firearms.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
The call still keeps for her, yes.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
Yeah, but we've had her in the shop several times,
cleaning and taking things. Nine years old. She was taken
apart by three twenty oh. Perfect, all right, perfect JC.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
One thing I want to just hit on briefly because
it was such an anticipated item we got into week.
The burner cls this, which is the small version of
the ever popular burnout that we long.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Telly, and then they have a smaller one that they have,
but this they just came out with this and this
concealed carry version and you look online. It truly is amazing.
I'm showing the audience here. It's like, you know, less
than one point two inches wide, so it's it's very
it's only seven inches long, pretty much a.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
Little over that. But he lays a.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Cell phone on if it's a big cell phone, pretty
much covers the whole thing. There's no safety and it's
built for concealed carry, and they've reduced the size. But
it's amazing. There's a video out there for on alternative
concealed carry.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
I forget the General's say.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
It's about half an hour long, but you know, he
goes into every detail mathematically, how this is reduced caliber
compared to the regular one. The other one sixty eight
caliber that they've come out with the burner for the home,
but more p people want to carry. So he came
up with this. They had to reduce the calendar to
sixty one a caliber, but which is about twenty seven

(10:09):
percent less volume than the sixty eight when it comes
to CS gas and pepper gas.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
But.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
It has more energy.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
It comes out faster and when you do the math,
which they do for you in the video on how
many jewels of energy. It actually has more energy and
hits harder than the larger caliber. But it is out here.
It is really is amazing, and you know how this works.
It's powered by CO two cartridges. It's concealed so it's small,

(10:38):
so it uses the twelve or the instead of the
twelve gram, uses the eight gram cartridges. But the velocity
after the first shot, which is one half of what
the normal velocity is because you carry it. It's got
a CO two cartridge in here. First shot punctures it
and fires out at about half the normal velocity, but
the next one's come out almost at four hundred feet

(10:58):
per second. It maintains a lot all the way till
the cartridges is empty. And what is like thirty rounds
or something. So I'm really excited about this, and they
are here now on a good job.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Actually we sold half of the first bats the first day,
but there is still some here in more coming next week.
Hopefully have burn on with us to talk all that
you about.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Ask about the trigger poll out there in the audience.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
The first one, because you're you know, puncturing a cartridge
comes out the first ones is around ten or nine pounds.
Nine point one pounds for the first one. All the
rest of them till it's empty are two point one
pound trigger polls. So you could whip this thing off
as fast as you can. So it's really an exciting
for non lethal ye and it could knock people down,

(11:44):
you know, out for like forty five minutes with the
right you know gets the regnation.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Yeah, and the Kinnecticut rounds can break car windows too, they.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
Said, yeah, bruises he shot against his son and he's
got a bruise about that big over a week ago
through through heavy clothing.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
So yeah, it comes out. I'm excited, guys.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
If you missed a show, you can always catch the
podcasts on six to ten w TV and it's on iHeartRadio.
We're on iTunes or on Spotify, spreaker.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Facebook, YouTube, all those places you can go back and
watch past shows. Jac Let's get to a little bit
of news here before the first break.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
What do you got?

Speaker 4 (12:15):
There's so much news and unfortunately I've left about fourteen
of them because they haven't been settled yet. But they
have all these pending bills and cases out there, and
most of them are the anti gun states.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
But all right, I'll got Hawaii on here twice. We'll
talk about that.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
There's some really important news that we really need to
discuss a little bit.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
But Hawaii anyway, they passed a bill. They're the Aloha state.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
They want to ban all modern sporting rifles period from
the island and all standard magazines. That's what they wanted
to do, and sure enough they almost got to it.
It seemed destined to pass, but just on Friday it
came to kind of a dead on arrival, but not
because they were trying to override. It was one vote

(13:01):
short from passing and going to the governor, who says
bringing his hands excited about signing this band. But what
happened was, even though pasted all the committees in Hawaii,
you know, the Senate, the House, everyone passed it, it
was one vote away, and then one of the anti gunners,
her name is Joy Buena Ventura, happened to look at

(13:23):
it realize that there's no provision for any any grandfather,
grandfather or anything, and they said it would instantly make
so many people felons in in in one fell swoop.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
So it's just one vote away, so they hurried up,
they got.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
A new amendment to it, got it all pass ready
to go, except the legislative session ended before they could
vote on it, so it ended on Friday. So it's
right now, it's the dead end. But unfortunately, I think
it's going to raise its uglyhead to get I thought,
Adam Schiff, I wish we can't he dry up. So
they've introduced on Capitol Hill, both in the Senate and

(14:01):
the House, Adam Schiff. And then someone i'd never heard of,
a representative, Lucy McBeth of Georgia, introduced legislation simply to
ban modern sporting rifles. And it's just called the Assault
Weapons Ban of twenty twenty five, to pick up right
where the one was in two thousand and four where
Diane Feinstein passes. So there's over thirty million just you know, ars,

(14:26):
and not counting all the rest of the guns that
would fall underneath this. And you know, the more common
we've always said in than the Ford one to fifty
pickup truck yet, and it's in direct conflict with the
US Supreme Court holding and heller and and Bruin. But
they don't care. Democrats don't care. They just want to
take stuff away. So anyway, that's been introduced and we'll
keep you keep track of that. On the good side,

(14:47):
this is a horrible name for an act, but US
Representative Sherry Biggs, who's out of South Carolina, introduced a
bill to support our constitutional rights. But it's called the
Protecting the Mailing of Firearms Act. And what law of
people don't realize is is under the former Democratic administrations,

(15:07):
they made a federal probation prohibition against mailing any kind
of concealable firearm through the.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
US Postal Service.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
And so that prevents you from sending something in for repair,
even parts, even a frame to be worked on. It's
against the law. But they want to propose to bring
that back. The legislation currently right now is you know,
in conflict also with what what the Supreme Court has
has rolled on and ruined. But anyway, they're going to
try to pass that act, and we hope that comes

(15:35):
comes up quickly.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Hey, JC, let's go to the break. When we come back,
hit the new we'll hit some more news and hit
the gun of the week. The bottom of the hour,
we'll I'll talk about we're backcasting a life from the
studios of LPD farms range.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
We'll be back right after the break. Guys.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
It's just this whole Cincinnati thing is really man has
me fired up and stuff. Well, we're going to get
to that up here shortly and everything. But I mean,
any time an officer loses her life is bad. But
when it's senseless is this one? You'll hear it. It
infuriates you, guys. Welcome back to on Tiger. I'm your host,
Eric joined today in the LAPD studios. I got JC

(16:12):
to my left and I got Marked to my right.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Mark.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
For those of you who don't know works over Advance
Outdoors are good friend over there. And you know what
you know what I say about Mark JC, I say
he is the one who shows you that.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Troopers do have a heart. I mean they do. I
mean right here is evidence.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
I carry it right here in my pocket.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Now, our good friend Mark Weeks Advanced Outdoors here. We're
gonna get to that sorely as well.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
JC. I know you have a little bit more news
here before the end of the.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
This could be a really, really, really big one because
this is the United States Department of Justice has filed
an amagus grief to the Supreme Court of the United
States in a case out of Hawaii Wolford versus low
Pez And this challenges the states authority in this case
Hawaii that has barred concealed carry license holders from carrying

(17:02):
a firearm on private property that is not posted. Yes,
you're allowed to do this. This is gas stations, supermarkets,
any private property. They're saying that you have to post
a sign. If there's no sign there, it's a legal
few to carry even if you have your concealed carry license.
And how he opened it up. And this is being
presented by the US Solicitor General of the United States, d.

(17:24):
John Sower, And he opened it up in writing, of course,
presented to the Supreme Court. The United States has a
substantial interest in the preservation of the right to keep
and bear arms and in the proper interpretation of the
Second Amendment. So they argued that the Supreme Court should
grant a centenary in this particular case because quote Hawaii's.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Novel default rule defies.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
Indeed effectively nulliflies, the general right to publicly carry that
Bruin has said was okay in their Supreme Court case.
So after Bruin, five states, including Hawaii, have inverted the
long standing presumption and enacted novel default rules which deny
individuals the right to carry on private property. They can

(18:10):
carry only if the owner posts a sign on the property.
Gas stations, supermarkets, all the public place, public parking lots.
If they're not posted, then that would make you illegal
to carry on subject to arrest. So they just said, look,
this is time. One of the a senior fellow of
the Independent Studies. His name is Stephen Hallbrook, very bright

(18:33):
fellow wrote a book America's Rifle, The Case for the
ar fifteen. When examining what Slitter General presented, he just said, look,
you know, there are so many justice justices and judges
are seeking guidance from the Supreme.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Court, so they're looking for where.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Can arms be carried and also what type of arms
people may possess. So this would be pushing it to
the forefront and saying all right, Supreme Court, get off
your deft. They have done nothing with several cases, but
now the Department of Justice is pushing this, so we
have to see where this goes.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
This could be We definitely need direction on this. There's
too many of these up and downs. Continuing what else got.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
Jason just a two on on glock of the Illinois lawmakers, by.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
The way, their fourth appellate court upheld the states of.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
A firearms owner of the FOID card saying it's not
against the Second Amendment.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
So now it's got to proceed up from that.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
But also the lawmakers introduce a bill to ban glock
sales the state of Illinois. So at the behest of
anti gunner a billionaire Michael Bloomberg's through the through Mom's
demand action, the lawmakers both they introduced two bills, a
House bill and a companion Senate bill that allows and

(19:47):
the way it's written, allows anyone who sells, who purchases,
who receives, who manufactures, who imports or transfers a what
they call convertible gun, again the glock. Because it can
can take illegal switch, they can be charged with unlawful
possession of a weapon, which is a class for felony

(20:07):
in the state. It's punishable by a minimum of one
year in prison up to three years behind bars and
a minimum and a twenty five thousand dollars fine, So
a year in prison of twenty five thousand dollars fine
for violating any one of those it's targeted at glock
and that's who they're They are bringing.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
The crazy, So it's targeted at them because the guns
can be altered by a criminal right to.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
Do a legal part right, and that's what they're choosing.
And by the way, Chicago police and Illinois State Police
both carry clock handguns. But they're making But think about that,
you know, looks mandatory.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
You're in prison. Who make you?

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Who comes up with these ideas?

Speaker 3 (20:47):
Cracks?

Speaker 4 (20:48):
The ones who want to take away your firearms?

Speaker 1 (20:51):
It's just asine. I mean, it just doesn't. It's it's
not logical.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
Well, here's another one, another lawsuit against glock and this
this came out of years old, three years ago.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
Oh it's pardon about that. I thought that was off. Okay,
I throw that away. Okay, yeah, I got that, got
rid of that.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
So there's a Brooklyn mass shooting three years ago in April,
and there were two victims of the result of that
mass shooting on the subway they marketed as a direct
result of the gun maker's glocks marketing. So the two
folks that got wounded, one was Fu Wong who and
the other is Zuan Ye.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
Who Ye crowded? So who ye?

Speaker 4 (21:34):
They're filing the suit and they said that, of course
this gentleman not a gentleman. He's now serving life term
in prison. He illegally purchased, but he legally purchased block
seventeen nine millimeter and used it and he shot up
about twenty nine people.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
But the lawsuit, here's what I like.

Speaker 4 (21:49):
The lawsuit from these two folks basically argues that the
Australian based Glock has endangered the public with its marketing strategy,
including failing to stop.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
The glorification of the glock.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
That's a quote, failing to stop the glorification of the
glock because it's featured in rap lyrics and in movies
and in TV and they have not done anything to
stop that glorification. They also emphasize because of the glock,
also emphasizes the high capacity of the magazine and easy concealment.
I don't know how easy a glock siventeen to conceal.

(22:23):
But they also say it's charged that the company intentionally
makes more firearms than the legitimate market could bear and
that creates an illegal secondary market and I'm going really
making more more firearms, so as a consequence, they're selling
to the civilian market individuals unfit to operate these excessive

(22:46):
weapons that they have out there and get gain to them.
Another one. This is the second time. The first one
I even liked better. This was also a result of
the shooting. Allen Stewart sued back in twenty twenty two
doing Block for its marketing, claiming that the companies knows
its product quote is it's unsuited for personal defense and recreation,

(23:07):
which is the whole reason why we buy them. It's
unsuited for that because it enables an individual to inflict unparalleled,
unparalleled civilian card.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
You know, like you've always said, Jac, it's a death
by a thousand cuts with these manufacturers. I know, how
long can they put up with these frivolous suits time
and time again? Guys, we got to jump to the
bottom of the hour news. When we come back on
the other side, we're going to talk to Ken Kober.
He is the fop Lies number sixty nine president out
of Cincinnati. That much much more raw talk, a breadcasting
life from the studios a LAPD Farms range.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
We'll be back right after the news. Are you there, sir?

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Yep?

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Yeah, how are you doing today?

Speaker 5 (23:46):
But you man?

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Good?

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Good?

Speaker 3 (23:48):
Hey.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
I hate to have you on under these circumstances. A
lot of us up here I don't think we're aware
of what's gone on the last couple of days in Cincinnati,
but I thought it's important for you to jump on
and hear firsthand, to let our listeners hear firsthand what's
been going on in Cincinnati the last couple of days,
and really to share in your grieving in the outrage

(24:10):
that we all should be feeling with this. So I
really really appreciate you coming on. For those listeners who
haven't heard of the events from yesterday, specifically, can you
bring us up to speed what happened in Cincinnati a
few days ago with the Cincinnati PD.

Speaker 6 (24:26):
Yes, since Thursday morning, we had some officers, some plane
clothes officers as well as uniform officers that were investigating
a stolen vehicle. They located the vehicle as a dead
end of an apartment complex. They recognized that it was occupied,
so the plane closed officers pulled out until the uniform
officers were there. They got there, they approached the vehicle

(24:47):
and four subjects get out of the vehicle to take
off running. One of them armed with a handgun flee
from the police. Drops the handgun, picks it up again
and then it encounters one of the police Spend points
a gun at him. Policeman ends up shooting him.

Speaker 7 (25:03):
That the suspect deceased.

Speaker 6 (25:06):
Tragic enough as it was, you know, this is all
all on the suspect that forced this officer to save
his own life. So we get through that Thursday, Friday afternoon,
about one o'clock, get a report of an officer that's down.
Ended up being a sheriff's deputy in Hamilton County. Was

(25:28):
working traffic control for University of Cincinnati's graduation. Come to
find out that this auto accident wasn't an auto accident.
It was a deliberate attempt to kill a police officer.
And it ends up being the father of the suspect
that was killed the day prior.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
So obviously an intentional act.

Speaker 6 (25:51):
It made it clear that it was intentional. In fact,
this morning at arraignment, there were about forty deputies in
what's called our room, a where he was being a rank.
And afterwards he looked back at the deputies and told
him you're never going to see him again. He's gone forever.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
It just.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
It's hard to describe, you know, and you know we
go back and we look at a lot of these
cases here on the show. But the incident that spurred
all this from a couple of days ago. Stolen vehicle.
It's my understanding there was a stolen firearm in the vehicle.
The suspect that was shot and killed eighteen years old.
I believe I'm not legally able to purchase a gun.

(26:31):
We're not talking about an upstanding citizen. You know, if
he he might have been a good kid, like his
father said, but on that day, he's in a stolen
vehicle with a firearm with an extended magazine and points
it at police. In my book, that that's a thug
who who got what was coming to him that day?

Speaker 4 (26:50):
And if the story isn't and he had it, but
he dropped it, but then he went back to retrieve
it and then pointed that that that add.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
It just I don't know, you know, how do you
get your arms drowned?

Speaker 1 (27:01):
I mean, the men and women in law enforcement are
faced with with tremendous dangers every day, and you know
that putting on your uniform and mark, I mean you
know that as a trooper and you expect certain things,
you know, when you go into dangerous situations. But many
of us have worked these events where it's you know,

(27:21):
relatively low key event. You're there, you're directing traffic to
get you know, citizens in and out of an event.
We do it all the time here at Ohio State.
It is furthest from your mind thinking that someone's going
to intentionally try to hurt you.

Speaker 6 (27:35):
Yeah, with with without a doubt.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
You're there trying to help and just have a good
time and enjoy it, let people in and out and
make it efficient, make them happen. And when the tragedy
like this happens accidentally, it's difficult to deal with. But
it's an intentional act. It just makes you wonder what's
going on in the world.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
And it was a Cincinnati police officer that ended up
having to defend his life and shoot the guy.

Speaker 4 (27:58):
But he is a Hamilkin in the Hamilton County Sheriff
directing traffic that he chose to just purposely run over.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
And Ken you said, obviously no remorse from this from
this father whatsoever.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Obviously in court today.

Speaker 6 (28:15):
No none whatsoever. In fact, it had family members since
that have been making death threats towards Cincinnati police officers.
You know, one was made in very a vague form
that one of the family members was going to come
to a Cincinnati Reds home game last night and tried
to attack an officer. It's at the point now where

(28:37):
we've got officers that are all doubled up and patrol
in two man cars just as a precaution, because it's
just spiral ring out of control right now in Cincinnati,
all because this all started with an eighteen year old
that had been arrested in several different counties at least
two different states. And my understanding through this investigation, these

(29:00):
four that were in this stolen car with two guns,
one of them stolen, were there waiting to commit a
robbery and the police just ended up stopping it before
it could happen.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
In this dad, who obviously did an upstanding job raising
his thug son, is out now with trying to have revenge.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
It's just it's sickening. How do you how do you
rally the troops so well?

Speaker 1 (29:23):
I mean, what do you tell the men and women,
uh that have to go out there today and you
know now watching watching their back more than than the
normal day.

Speaker 6 (29:34):
Yeah, I mean it's difficulty. You know, we have our
flying pig Marathon this weekend. There's a bunch of events
Saturday and Sunday that's gonna draw hundreds of thousands of
people down here, and it's just, you know, everybody's kind
of on edge, you know it is. You know, you
got a lot of people that are gonna be on
traffic post and everybody's just got to make sure that,
you know, we are even more vigilant than we normally
would be to make sure that these events go off

(29:56):
with a hitch and that we're all safe. That way,
we get to go home to our families.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
And sir, we're talking to Ken Kober, he's the Lodge
sixty nine FLP president down in Cincinnati. We have up
here in Columbus. We have the OSU commencement tomorrow, and
I know there's a full detail of officers and troopers
and sheriff's deputies going to be there directing. I mean,
it's it's part of the conversation that we're hearing here
as well.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
The officer who lost.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
His life is my understanding, he was a retired deputy
who was just back staying in the mix doing some
special duty.

Speaker 6 (30:29):
Yeah, you just retired a couple months ago and then
came back as a special deputy, just you know, to
fill in the gaps and you'll work a little bit
of extra duty just as a retirement job.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
Wow wow, well, sir, our thoughts and prayers up here
are definitely with you and your troops down there. If
there's anything that we can do of assistance up here,
you let us know. But we'll be thinking about you guys,
and you know, keep the faith down there.

Speaker 6 (30:57):
That's a much appreciated thanks.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
For having all right.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
Tragedy yep, guy, that was King Kober, Queen City lies
number sixty nine, FOP President.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
It's mark. I don't even know where I mean. You know,
you expect stuff, you know when a.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
When a trooper or an officer dies in a car accident.
I mean it's tragic, but something so so callous? Is
this so calculated? And and for not that's the first
I heard. For this thug to now be in court
and be taunting that the deputies.

Speaker 3 (31:29):
Taunting the deputies in court.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
It's it's difficult to digest. I don't want to go
into personal attacks sort there, but I lived by and
took the example of my parents. I see it here
in this room as well as its parents at the

(31:52):
example the standards for which children are there's always that exception,
But in most cases, this is a perfect example of
something went wrong long before what happened two days ago.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
Absolutely, And you know the thing is is it's it's
hard enough being out there for the men and women
in law enforcement, and as much as you try and
you train, there's gonna be circumstances where there's loss of life.
And maybe it wasn't you know, maybe it could have
been a mistake, or maybe it wasn't warranted, or maybe

(32:25):
it didn't look right in the public's eye.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
This was one hundred percent a good shoot.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
This wasn't an accidental you know, it was someone you
know running and a man. It was a mistaken identity.
I mean, not that you can justify it even if
it was that, But this is furthest from that.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
He was trying to kill an officer just right right
who they were, right eighteen years old.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
I mean, how often are we seeing this here in
our own community, these thugs. We talk about it all
the time that get let out, let out, let out
let out, until it rises to this level. I would
love to see this, this punk's juvenile record. I guarantee
you he didn't just start, you know, a life of
crime at age eighteen.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
Ah, it's just frustrating, is yep?

Speaker 3 (33:11):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
We are going to jump to a break on the
other side. On the other side, we're gonna get to
our good friend Joe King, who calls in from black
Wing Shooting Center and have a little discussion on an event.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
That's coming up there shortly.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
We're all Target broadcasting live from the studios of l
EPD Farms.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Arrange. We'll be back right up to the break.

Speaker 4 (33:34):
It's a slow, burnt, great song.

Speaker 2 (33:40):
Yep, Yo, it does a pretty good job. Mark.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
You know, we talked bad about her off air, but
you know, really the one it comes down to. She
does a welcome to on Target. I'm here, Derek joined
today in the LPD studio. I got JC to my left.
This is like fighting music, JC, JC to left. I
got Marked to my right. Mark from Vans Outdoors, retired
law enforcement and on the line with us right now.

(34:04):
Apparently too good to be here in person. Maybe the rain,
I don't know, Maybe he melts. Mark, I don't know.
We have Joe from Blackwing.

Speaker 7 (34:10):
You there, sir, Glad to be here again. Eric good
to talk to you, buddy.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
Yeah, well you apparently don't come out in the rain.

Speaker 7 (34:16):
Or well, you know, when you're giving away two hundred
guns that costs. It takes all hands on deck. And
I know I'll see you up here tomorrow. That's the
only time year you coming buy guns from me.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
Guys, why are we here? Yeah, if they're giving away
guns that cost up there.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
That was poor planning on somebody's fault.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
We should be broadcasting from up there. I mean, it
ain't like the LAPD Black Friday. Will we just give
away guns. I can't expect people to do that, but
I mean it costs, Joe, that's pretty good.

Speaker 7 (34:42):
Yeah, it's it's something we do once a year. We've
got about two hundred guns in the banquet room. We
popped the tent in front of the banquet room so
we can hold true to the tent sale. But yeah,
just some inventory we've been sitting on and just pass
it off at employee costs. And it's going pretty good.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
So we're talking like high points and stuff like that.

Speaker 7 (34:58):
I mean, I've walked out a couple of Browning shotguns
and some Bretta shotguns, and there's some nice Smith and Wesson,
like five hundred revolvers. I mean, there's a good mix
of guns up here.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
Well, apparently I messed up. Mark.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
You think we'd have some insight.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
I know, yeah, really like you know, hey, it's coming.
Maybe you guys need to come up here and that
maybe we do a remote tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (35:19):
We have tomorrow as well.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
Okay, okay, I'll try to pass that off to the
wife to spend yet another day in a gun store.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
That's okay.

Speaker 7 (35:29):
Laurie's lovely. She'll let you come up here.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
There you go, guys, those of us run the table.
It goes without saying. We have a passion for the
firearms industry, whether it be coming from the hunting world
or law enforcement, military. We've all enjoy the shooting sports,
and like many other things out there in society, car
enthusiasts or even those who enjoy a simple drink, there

(35:53):
is tragedy that can come within the industry, and the
gun industry is no.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Exception to that.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Listen to this stat and this is not a good
stat Every year, about sixty percent of the deaths attributed
to firearms are from suicides.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
Sixty percent.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
I mean, that's that is a huge number. And so
a few years ago, our good friend Scott Light came
to all of us. They reached out and they said,
would you guys want to be a part of something
that's going to be called Life Side Ohio. And it's
an organization to bring awareness to suicides and to my
friends Mark and Joe and stuff, and that's something we

(36:31):
all deal with in this industry. And so at the
time they wanted us to do a commercial and I said,
what am I going to do a commercial with some
country guy up north and some trooper were going to
talk slow or whatever. But we did a commercial and
since then we've all been a part of this.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Yes we have. It's been a great journey.

Speaker 5 (36:54):
It's been interesting because no matter what side of the
aisle you're on, we're talking about safety. We're talking about
state fanding on firearms, but more importantly, we're talking about
mental health, not just first responders, not just military, not
just firearms owners. But those are our three primary targets,
and we're able to have a conversation, an intelligent conversation,

(37:17):
to supportive conversation, and a way to bring this to
the surface and actually become comfortable talking about it.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
I know what happened for me. Yep, it took me
years after leaving.

Speaker 5 (37:29):
I've had some issues myself, and I've talked to the
post traumatic stress in classes for years and knew there
was something, but always buried at myself. And it's so
much nicer for me to be able to talk about
it right and being able to bring other people to
be able to talk about it right.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
And it means so much more hearing it from people
like you who've been through that. And Joe, I know
you've had stories up there you talked about when you
were down here last time. Personal experiences with people who
you know, you could you identif fight is me maybe
being someone who wasn't having the best of days. And
that's something we all struggle with in the firearms industry.

(38:06):
I mean, that is something that is top of mind
every day. We talked to our employees about it, and
I'm sure I mean, you guys all, we all do
the same. It's so important to try to help identify
those people and get them help and to talk about it.
Make it something that's not in the you know, hidden
in the back room any longer exactly.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
Even Sorry, Joe, you're still here.

Speaker 7 (38:25):
Right, Yeah, Yeah, you're good.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (38:28):
Even before Scott came to us, the three of us
and some other range runners in the Central Ohio area
got together had a contact. We still have an email
contact where if we have somebody coming in that gives
us those stigmas, whatever, we can share with each other
and just be able to save a life. Then and
now we've come not just Central Ohio, but all of Ohio,

(38:49):
and there are other states that are mocking or modifying
or stealing what Scott and the Advisory Board and all
the contributing members of Lifetile Ohio been able to do.

Speaker 3 (39:01):
So it's fantastic. Good let them steal away.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
That's good. Right, that's good. You were talking before the show.
You have something that's airing here, sorely. I wasn't aware
of this until we talked about it. It's that's super.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
Neat tell us a little about what's coming up here shortly.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Well, it's a NBC four is doing a special.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
This starts this Wednesday, May seventh at seven thirty pm
on NBC where it's called Be a Voice and it's
four of us sitting around all discussing male mental health
and the risk of suicide and the different factors that
take into it. But not only that, but how you

(39:39):
can get help that It's not that uncommon. One of
the things that we hear now is it's okay to
not be okay, but it's not okay to not be
okay and not do anything about it. You know, we
all have issues, we all have trauma, we all have
things in our life that bother us. If I broke
my own I wouldn't say, well, my arm's broken, I'm

(40:02):
gonna have to live with that rest of life and
hide it from everybody.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
I'd go get it fixed.

Speaker 5 (40:06):
Well, things aren't clicking right It's okay to say things
aren't clicking right now, let's go get it fixed.

Speaker 1 (40:11):
In Mark, especially in the law enforcement and military commilitary
is a huge population that is prone to suicides and
harming themselves. I mean it's it's really the men and
women who protect us every day. I mean that that
is a population that we that that were helping.

Speaker 4 (40:29):
I think with this in one of the stories that
I didn't have to say, but just it's involves the
NSSFUH was talking about the federal committees within the Senate
and the House there Veterans Affairs Committee and developing and
being more active and trying to prevent this, you know,
suicides among the military and the PTSD.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
Folks out there. So that was news this week that
they're they're.

Speaker 5 (40:53):
Joe's too modest bringing them himself. But he actually won
an award this year from his county. Talk talk to
about that a little bit, Joe, please.

Speaker 7 (41:02):
Yeah, So I got a award from the Delaware Coalition
that I'm a I'm a part of with the community
connected this award. So a lot of times you're just
given to somebody, you know, a doctor, a clinician, But
you know, I think they solve a value in a
range and retailer like us, to identify a place where
it's like, you know what, I'm not okay, but I
know I can go talk to those guys because they're

(41:24):
not going to talk quietly and shamefully about mental health anymore.
And so they can come here for a comfortable environment,
like minded somebody and we can have that conversation. And
I think that's one of the best things that Life
Side has brought to the table. You know, made it
okay for Vance's lapd black Wing to be like, no,
it's okay to not be good come talk to me.
Let's let's let's hash it out.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (41:43):
And to that, Joe.

Speaker 1 (41:45):
A big event coming up at the annual Life Side
event at Black Wing that's home May ninth, correct, Yeah, that's.

Speaker 7 (41:53):
Right, Uh Friday there, there's a great fundraiser. It helps
fund Lifetile Ohio allows let's keep doing work we do.
You know, the participants come out, have a great time
shooting fifty sporting clay targets, a lot of good fellowships
and you know, fun prizes and things like that. But
a great way to help support the cause of Life
Side Ohio and and ost F as well.

Speaker 5 (42:15):
Great, you're gonna be at them, Mark, Absolutely, I wouldn't
miss it. Go up there and trespass on Black Wing
and right, it's.

Speaker 7 (42:22):
The one week, it's the one day a year. I
let advance tent go up in my back.

Speaker 3 (42:27):
But it depends on the rain. I'll try and leave
the t at home.

Speaker 5 (42:30):
Hopefully we're gonna have beautiful weather and U and not
have to worry about that, Joe.

Speaker 7 (42:34):
But I'll die weather for us, don't worry.

Speaker 5 (42:37):
Yeah, it's a fantastic facility up there. It's nice to
be a part of what you're doing up there. It's
great to be a part of Life Side Ohio, and
in the relationship that we've built, the three of us
and and the rest of the Life Side members people.

Speaker 7 (42:51):
We all have fun together.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
Oh yes, absolutely we did.

Speaker 5 (42:55):
I don't know if you were on that that uh
uh that zoom call the other day. It's been a
couple months ago, but all of a sudden behind me
on my own picture, Eric had put up a LAPD slash,
black wing.

Speaker 2 (43:07):
And a little quick photoshop.

Speaker 3 (43:09):
Yeah. But it's great to have a relationship.

Speaker 5 (43:13):
But more importantly, it's great to see people coming to
us or or finding the direction the need, or helping
the need and being able to face these issue. And
if we save one life, fantastic. If we save two
lives even.

Speaker 1 (43:26):
Better, yep, great, great, Joe, We're gonna have to let
you go. Tent sail going on through tomorrow, correct, yep.

Speaker 7 (43:34):
All the way through tomorrow, five o'clock. Come up and
see us and Eric. I got a special parking spot
for you. Thank you, guys for classics. I love being
associated with you. Thanks for having me, gentlemen.

Speaker 2 (43:43):
Great good, always good to talk to you. Joe.

Speaker 3 (43:45):
We'll see you Friday. Joe thanks.

Speaker 1 (43:48):
He's getting me back. Was when he was on the
last couple of weeks ago. I started out by saying,
I can't believe you bought that from us here. That's
something you don't carry up there, and so I think.

Speaker 7 (43:58):
I've been holding on to that.

Speaker 2 (43:59):
I know it, I know it. Guys, Thanks for spending
the last hour with us. Jesus goes super quick.

Speaker 1 (44:05):
Next week, we're gonna hopefully get a little more in
depth about Burna and we will do the Gun of
the Week, and there was some news as well. We
didn't get to, but we wanted to thank Joe for
popping on can. Of course, my good buddy Mark sitting
here beside us. Guys, have a good week, stay dry
and as always, let's be careful out there.
