Speaker 1 (00:00):
North of the world famous Las Vegas Strip, on the
east end of the world famous Fremont Street. The iHeart
Las Vegas Studios is where I am, and all the
way across the United States is where two of my
favorite people on earth are today, Congressman Troy Balterson GOP
strategist Bob Clegg joining me.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Gentlemen.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
I would say, nice to see you, but I can't
see it, but thank you, Thank you guys for jumping
on with me today.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
This is very, very cool and a first I think
for both of you.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Right.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Yeah, for me, at least it is. I don't know
about Troy.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
It is definitely my first two Blazer. It's pretty cool
that'dre out there and sin setting.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Yeah, And you know what I was even saying. I've
been saying this all week, and this forecast has been
in place since I got here. I've been here since
last Friday, and I'm looking at the forecast and all
week long, and I'm watching local Fox here, Fox five Local,
and I'm watching it all week. They've been predicting Thursday
was the day when it was gonna be really windy
and drizzly and rainy and like fifty three for the

(01:04):
high and man, it held up. It is terrible outside,
and then you guys are beautiful seventy one, and then
you got seventy seven tomorrow, seventy six on Saturday with
a little bit of rain. But you guys, it's like
I swapped. I flew right past the good weather coming
out here. That went right to Ohio.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
I don't want to throw Bob under the bus, but
I mean, like boss and shorts.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Zach'son shorts now.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
I got I got business to do later on, so
I'm in long pants. But everybody else is feeling pretty
good here.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Blazer, Well, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
What, you guys are lucky because Zach has tried all week.
He thought, you know, when Chuck moved to mornings for
the last couple of days.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
He's like, yes, I don't have to wear pants now
when I come into the studio. So you're lucky. You
got him in shorts at least today.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
That's close anyway, that's close to not wearing anything.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
He tried.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
That was supposed to be just between me and you.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Oh, nobody listens to the show. Dude, you're good. Nobody's
really near any of this. Man, You're You're absolutely good.
I when I first asked both of you guys to
be on with me today. It was by design that
hopefully it ended up like this, because clearly we've done
the one event.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Where was that at Troy.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
It was all the way out like near your neck
of the woods, like it seems like a million years
ago when we were talking.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
To down in Zanesville, Ohio, Miss Kingham County. That was fun.
That was a good People are still talking about that.
They all comeing, they did. They really enjoyed that.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
They enjoyed the perspective of of what you guys did
on stage.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
You know.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
The interesting thing Troy about that event for me was
that was when I first started thinking Issue one might
go down because at that event you had a ton.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Of people number one, uh and.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Number two they were talking about Issue and I just
had not you know, I didn't think people were that
plugged in, but they were obviously.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Yeah, they got plugged in. And look, we had a
big crowd there because you and Blazer with.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
No in spite of the fact were there exactly.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Yeah, most people run the other way they hear I'm
gonna be there.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Not that guy. The guy he's he's he looks much
better on the radio.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
We don't want to really want to look at him
like in person, real quick. Tonight, the Jackets are back
in action. Kind of a dreadful road trip for them.
They went one for three, one and three on the
road trip, so tonight the good thing is being on
nationwide arena ice.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
The Jackets are really, really good.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
As a matter of fact, they have twenty three of
their last twenty seven home games.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
They have points, so that's a good part of this.
And right now they are sitting in a wild card spot.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
So all eyes are on the Jackets as we wrap
up the last I don't know, I don't have the
number in front of me. Many games are left, but
it is crunch time and every one of these games
so so critical. So the Jackets tonight, they got their
work cut out for him. I said goodbye to the
team Las Vegas, the Golden Knights. They left here and
then went there, so they're there tonight versus the Jackets.

(04:17):
So the thirty one, twenty five and eight Jackets versus
the thirty eight, nineteen and seven Las Vegas Golden Knights,
a very good, very good club. And like I said,
the Jackets have their work cutout for him. Puck drops
at seven. But go Jackets, man, this is this could
be a very end up being a very special year
for them. So I'm following, and man, I'm just so
hopeful for everything going on in the Jackets organization right now.

(04:40):
I'm I'm so in. I'm so I bought so in
almost to like stealer level. And if you know me,
you know how much.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
I love my Steelers.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
That's really into it.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Yeah, yeah, no doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Hey, So, so you one of the things that was
Troy for you, Congressman Balderson, one of the things for
you you were like, as far as being available today
and coming on, You're like, well, we got to vote
for this cr We got to vote to keep the
government hopefully from shutting down.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Tomorrow is the day.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
So talk to me about obviously, what was it like
two seventeen to two thirteen, I think Troy something too
somewhere all.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
To seventeen, one Democrat Jared Golden from Maine was the
lone Democrat that.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Voted for it. Who's in a Trump district.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
He's in a Trump district. That's one the last He's
one every I mean, and look if he is really
a good guy He's a marine veteran served in Iraq,
so he sawid He votes with Republicans a lot, so
he knows how to manage that. He votes his district
and God bless him for that.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
So Senate Democrats, yeah, they yeah, I mean right now
they're considering a plan that they're trying to put this
whole thing on ice and tomorrow. I believe, Well, it
looks like based on what I was reading it, if
you want to just take this, you can as far
as telling me what procedurally is going to happen now,
now tomorrow. If it doesn't get through, then the government

(06:10):
will shut down if there's no funding.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Correct, now, Blazer, it's the Schumer shut down. It is
not the government shutting down. Okay, And Bob and I
talked about that. This is on Shumor so well, and
you know the irony here, Troy is a fact.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
For the last two years, all we've heard from the
Democrats and Chuck Schumer is, oh, those Republicans better not
shut down the government. That would be catastrophe. Oh, but
now let's see what they're going to do.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
They did.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
The Republicans have done a really good job sticking together.
Mike Johnson has managed this well. Donald Trump has been
very helpful in managing this whole process. JD came to
our conference the other morning advocating for this CR and
getting it so we can move to the next level
of President Trump's agenda.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
So we're all in. It's fun. It's really fun right now.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
Oh yeah, I'm loving it because I just love the
hypocrisy on the Democrat side.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Now, try, what do you think is gonna happen here?

Speaker 5 (07:10):
I mean, if you had to put money down, like
you're in Vegas and you had to put money down, and.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Where can I vote on this? After I get Troy's
insider information here today, Mark.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
You should check that out.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
Some of those casinos may have a comed iness whether
the government shuts down.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
They probably do.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
I was reading Republicans need sixty votes to invote cloture
and advance the measure, meaning it's going to need the
support of some Democrats to get the vote on final passage.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
This is the part that I struggle with Troy.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
First of all, I've told you many times, and you too, Bob,
for that matter. I'm like, Man, I have a small brain,
and then I have an extra small political brain.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
And when it comes to this stuff. It really doesn't
make sense to me.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
But I think I'm probably in the majority of America
that government doesn't make sense when you start trying to
process the way this stuff works.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
And this is something that I read from one of
the you know, one.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Of the articles this morning, and I'm just like, wait,
they you know, it's not just going to be the
Senate and they vote, and then the majority of the
Senate says, yes, let's do this, let's move forward, and
then we're good to go. It's it's this whole process, right,
I mean, it's it's so confusing to me.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
It is confusing, and Bob can certainly agree with that,
but I think do I think it'll I think it's
gonna be tough.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Fetterman is the.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
Only Democrat right now as of today that it's not enough. No,
it's not enough, and then you'll lose Rampaul Ram's not
voting for it. So that negates that whole whole process.
So the next thing that could potentially happen is is
they do a thirty day extension.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
But do we even put that out there for them?
I mean, that's like a lifeline. Why should we do that?
I hope we don't.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
I mean, we shouldn't do We shouldn't let them do this.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Yeah, now you know, so no, thirty day means it
shuts down. It's kind of what you're saying.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Right, it's a partial shutdown.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Some's already been appropriated, so it's a partial shutdown.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
But it's a shutdown.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Shumer.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Let's get this going to that down. We got to
get that going.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
So I'm with Bob, don't give him that lifeline. They
wouldn't do.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
It for us. I can guarantee you would do it
for us.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
So why does this always happen? I'm sorry to oh man,
this makes me crazy. Why does this always happen to Republicans?

Speaker 2 (09:29):
We are always the ones that acquiesce. This makes me crazy.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
You guys are both going, yeah, they would never do
this for us, And I know it's not you, Troy particularly,
but it's just man, this is the irritating part about
being conservative.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
It really is. Man.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
We watch this time and time again as they run
over us, and they all stay together for the most part,
and then we're all fragmenting. You got Thomas Massey doing
what he's doing right now. I don't know exactly what's happening.
But it is so fresh to hear this. It seems
like with almost every situation.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
It happens a lot.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
But look, let's talk about the new piece that we're
dealing with Herey Norow. We had one Republican descend from
that the other day, and I mean, I'm going to
tell you, on Saturday morning, Speaker Johnson had a conference
call with all the Republican conference. There was more than
one potential no vote for that CR. I mean, you

(10:27):
had several members that had not voted for a CR.
You had several members that didn't vote. This is the
same CR that was passed in December, so they didn't
vote for that. Now that CR, President Trump wanted us
to put the debt ceiling piece in there at that time.
So there were thirty eight Republicans that did not vote
for this last CR with the debt ceiling in it. Also,

(10:50):
So to get what we got two days.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Ago is a big win.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
And I'm with you, Blazer, it's frustrating, frustrating, but look,
President Trump is leading this and it gives Mike Johnson
the ability to maneuver and you know, make peace with
his members to get this job done. And look, all
the Republican Conference, all the members know that this is
the next step. Then we go to the reconciliation piece

(11:18):
that we need to get done too, so and you
know Mike Johnson, I mean his goal is to have
that done by the end of April. Now, look, let's
put dates. Good luck, good luck, and it'll be a struggle.
But you know, the budget piece that we had to do,
we got that done three weeks ago. Now now we

(11:38):
got this uh CR done onto the next so hopefully.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
You know it goes through.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
You guys did what you can do. I mean you
can't obviously the Senate. The Senate is the Senate, so
they have to.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
I mean, it's just you guys are out until the
twenty fourth.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
I think I read Troy right that next week.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Now, if something would happen, you know, we're all call
so so if they change, if they change in any way.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
In the Senate, you guys have to come back. We
have to come back. Yeah, Okay, you gotta do all
that before midnight tomorrow. Correct.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
So you kept your you kept the jet, you kept
it started and fuel.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
It's warming enough.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
It's not a jet, it's American Airlines.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
It's commercial oh, it's not your private jets. Okay. You
know It's funny though, a lot of people.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
And I remember back when I first started talking about
all this try I'm like, you guys flying back and
forth constantly, and I'm like, man, do you guys take
your jet or Jordan's or Mike carries Whose jet are
you using?

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Troy is not Nancy Pelosi, although he does it for
a long time.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
He knows that you you're a man of the people. Troy.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
You like Kroger ice cream, not Jenny's, right, I mean,
come on, Tom's.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Ice cream ball, Tom's ice cream.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Ball, Tom, Sorry, I got that incorrect. Congressman Troy Balterson
GOP strategist Bob clegg I Studio appreciate you guys being here.
