Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, welcome in Mark Blazer with Chuck Douglas and
you know with Wall Street and the ups and downs
that's happening right now, Chuck. I was thinking if the
Pittsburgh Steelers had some sort.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Of you know, a football team, well well that.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Yeah, but if they had some sort of stock right now,
it would be plummeting, because I absolutely I am in
shock that they are close to a deal with Aaron
Rodgers has been washed up, mister Obama. Keeley's forty one
years old, the only quarterback, by the way, to ever
beat us in a Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
But he's going to be the.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Best team on the other team or the best guy
on the other team's team.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
I don't come there with Justin Fields.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
I you know, I just I don't feel like he
ever got a chance to really grow into that role
as being his role. And I I'm if I were
searing the ship, I think I would take that chance.
I mean, is it going to get any worse than
what it was this past season?

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Well yeah, I'm not as far as this season and
goes was it respectable?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:01):
But Steeler fans, We're just not We're not built that way.
The DNA doesn't exist to just be okay or an
okay season.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
We're in kind of we're in quarterback purgatory right this second.
But Aaron Rodgers is not the answer. I don't understand
this at all. I really don't. This guy is old,
he can't move like he used to. We're gonna watch
interception after interception after interception. I don't care if he
has velocity all of those things. He doesn't have the
wheels at all. He's never really had wheels a little bit,

(01:34):
but now with his achilles, he's had to rehab that.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
It was really bad for him.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
If you'll remember, he was on the jets for about
four seconds before he went out hurt, you know, when
he first started with the again, head scratcher. For me,
I'm embarrassed as a Steeler fan that we are wandering
around like this. It's it's absolutely nuts.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Maybe they get something up their sleep, Maybe they maybe
they're I don't know. He's just a placeholder. Who knows
what behind closed door? His agreements have been made as
far as the draft and free agency and so forth.
Maybe there's something they got cooking.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Well, you'll be you're the only one with optimism here.
I think the rest of Steeler Nation that. No, no,
there isn't.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Any Madam Pinkles Fan. I gotta be optimistic.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Well yeah, but not about us, hopefully. I know secretly
you're going, yeah, well, you know, there's always that.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
All right, So let's bring him in.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
He's Don Ross, the retirement boss Ross Wealth Advisors eight
three three Don Ross. He's joining us now, and hey, brother,
welcome to the show. This is the Wall Street up
and down continues right now, man, But there is some
interesting news I saw just a little bit ago that
let me. I was actually trying to pull this up.

(02:49):
But it looks like, did you see this it's based
on Okay, wait a second, No, I was seeing that
there was some sort of an agreement. Sorry, I have
I'm I'm trying to move around here. I'm in a
I'm in a studio. I'm not used to there's been
some sort of an agreement or it looks like there
could be some good positive movement with regard to Ukraine

(03:14):
and Russia right now. I don't know if you saw that.
It was literally in just I think the last twenty
minutes or so.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
Well, I'm assuming ninety percent of your listeners maybe watch
Fox News too, so that that would be ginormous news.
I don't know the details, obviously, I'm not privy to
that intel, but that'd be just absolutely huge because not
only is that poor country defins decimated, it just creates uncertainty.
And like I say over and over, Mark is don't

(03:43):
like uncertain We have a lot of that going on
right now.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yeah, I just found that Ukraine accepting deal. Marco Rubio
is putting this out. We'll take We'll take this to
the Russians, and they accepted a deal. Ukraine accepted a
deal put forward by the Trump administration. And this was
a meeting in Saudi Arabia, by the way, and they
call this as a significant step forward and securing the

(04:06):
ceasefire agreement and clearly getting an end to this war
that's going on. So we'll take this offer. Now, they
go on to say to the Russians, and we'll hope
they say yes. That was Secretary Marco Rubia saying this.
So you and I we were talking earlier. You were saying,
excuse me something about with regard to this, if they
get something kind of figured out or at least start

(04:27):
to move in a positive direction, this could help settle
the markets a little.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
Yes, I believe it's one of numerous components. You know,
we got tariffs, we've got fears of recession. The market
doesn't like that. So it's you know, it's maybe approaching
correction territory. But you know, the same old, same old
goes on. You know, have a plan that suited for
your needs. And if I preach that a lot, it's

(04:54):
because it's truly the device out there. And but yes,
that's going to be one awesome problem to solve, and
that's just going to be really helpful in the overall
what's going on because of the unknowns that creates, and
people are dying, A lot of people are dying.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Terrific Yeah, yeah, absolutely, and got you have. I'm sure
people reaching out to you. This always happens whenever there's
a dip or we have a roller coaster ride and
they contact you. I would imagine saying, you know, hey,
do I need to make a move or whatever. What
I think is interesting about that somebody who is for you,

(05:35):
like with Ross Wealth Advisors, it's clearly your company. And
if there was something a move that needed to be made,
I can't imagine that it would take long enough for
them to contact you, you would already be contacting them
and going, hey, I have an idea. You know, maybe
we should do this or that differently. At least I'm
guessing that that could be the case.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
You're guessing correct. I mean, I'm in the the reach
out mode asap. Have been reaching out to a lot
of clients today. Daniel in our office has too, and
you know, I'm getting Hey, we're good. We build a
plan together that addresses my needs. We talk about pullbacks

(06:16):
or corrections like this. We do have some downside protection
a lot of our client's portfolios and they know it.
Plus we're giving conservative advice. We're not swinging for the fences.
You know, you swing for the fences, you get hurt,
and then you get emotional, and then you just start
making bad decisions to take you down the wrong rabbit hole.
And we don't want that. No one should have that

(06:40):
for their retirement savings or life savings.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Right.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Also, I saw Congress is going to be voting on
the stopgap funding bill today as well. I have it
on good authority. It's going to be happening a little
over an hour from now, around four thirty. And you know,
Speaker Johnson is saying he believes. He's like I feel
I feel good. I think we have the votes. And
so the deadline, of course is Friday. This is to

(07:05):
keep the government open and prevent the government shut down,
and it's House Republican. They've proposed a proposed a six
month continuing resolution extends current funding levels through the end
of September. They go on and then start breaking it down.
It's a lot of stuff where your eyes kind of
glaze over. I guess you can start reading it.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
But the.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Gist of this is that when and if I believe
it sounds like it's going to be approved, it's going
to get through. It's going to have enough votes. I
would imagine that still yet will help the markets. Again,
we'll have to probably look at and I don't know,
maybe I'm saying it wrong for futures because clearly this
is going to the vote is going to take place
after the bell today, So.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
Correct, correct, And again, if you're like me and you
have a checklist of you know, your to do items
on the weekend, and you check off you know what
needs to be done, this is what we're doing. This
is what common sense leaders with Donald Trump you know,
we're checking off these items and we're gonna make this
country just so amazingly better. I think we're gonna have

(08:10):
a little pain though, to you know, to get to
that pleasure. But it has to be done. I mean
this debt and the budget and all that. So the
dude just getting stuff done. And that's what's beautiful about him.
Love him or hate him, because there's plenty of each.
But we're taking care of business.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Yeah, that's the thing too.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
When you talk about we're gonna have this pain, that's
where I kind of cringe because we've heard the president
saying it now and look, we know it's reality, but
in my you know, just being I don't know, having
all this pride and so on.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Now we have to watch the Democrats going to yeh see,
he told you he's gonna screw up the country.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
And it's like and the ones that are screaming that
the loudest will not be the ones who come around
once it is not screwed up and say I was wrong.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
They just won't be posting anything.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
I want to say so bad to people who are
posting all this negativity about everything, will you come back
on and say I was wrong when it happens when
when the country does start flourishing. Unfortunately, there's a lot
he has to flush right now, and we got to
get all of this figured out.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Look, it's above my pay grade.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
I don't exactly understand what what's going on right now
as well. I look at some of this and I'm like, oh,
this is not good. This is not good. But that's
just in the short term. It's a it's a long
term solution. And again, we're not going to have anybody
admitting I was wrong about it. They're just going to complain.
Now the boo birds are coming out and saying I
told you so, and this guy's screwing everything up, and

(09:38):
it's it's frustrating.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Man, as a conservative, I know you know exactly what
I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
Don Yeah, yeah. And that's that's why every Friday we
send you know, we send out a video to our
whole our client base every Friday to hear from us
on what's going on the market, how's affecting them, and
it's important and and like I said, everybody has to
have a plan and a lot of them will look
at their four one K and go oh, here it
is a two oh one k. You know that turn
back in the after the tech bubble. But I've been

(10:06):
doing this thirty plus years. I've seen everything. At the
end of the day, after we have a correction or
downturn like this, hold on because it's it's an awesome
gain after that.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
And I think are Speedwagon said it best, ride in
the Storm out.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Got to ride the storm out?

Speaker 5 (10:23):
Right, So so can I on on that term? Can
I divest a little bit? So? Speaking of sports, the
Upper Arlington Golden Bears hockey team won States and I
was a hockey bear one hundred and fifty years ago,
so proud of that. And and when we came and yes,
I warmed the bench. I'm humble when we came. When

(10:45):
we came out of the ice of the old OSU,
a ice rink there by the Saint John's. Guess what
song we played?

Speaker 2 (10:52):
What is it?

Speaker 5 (10:53):
Ride in the Storm Out from Wagon there it is? Yeah,
So I had to I had to put a plug
in there for the Golden Bears.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Well that's cool, though, man, you gotta love it local
hockey and them doing what that's good.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
That's really plus.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Yeah, you played, but uh just for a little while,
and clearly it didn't. It didn't leak into your adult life,
but the competitive did, but not the not the hockey part.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
They're also known as the Golden Cubs back then.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Cubs, right yeah, class of eighty one s or anybody
doing the math. So we have some great players and
the nearest team we played, we had to drive all
the way over to Centerville, Ohio, and they're dog gone
hockey players were football players, and they knew how to hit.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
So yeah, that's all they knew.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
It sounds like probably that's all they knew how to do,
is my guess. He is Don Ross, the retirement boss
with Ross Weld Advisors. Don, thanks for jumping on with
us today and here's too. Hopefully everything settling down then
the games begin again on Wall Street.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
But thanks brother for jumping on. Appreciate you.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
You bet all right, all right, we'll

Speaker 2 (11:56):
See you man,
