Speaker 1 (00:00):
The dumbest laws, the real dumb laws, the laws that
don't fix what they say they're supposed to fix because
you can't fix that, and those that those that are
so far behind the criminal element they really don't matter anyway.
Such is Assembly BILLT eleven twenty seven in the state
(00:21):
of California, where it is now going to be illegal
to sell a new block firearm. They specifically name block
or any other firearm which can be converted to a
machine gun with the illegal use of glock switches. But
(00:48):
you can sell them used. That's how it's going to be.
After July first, twenty twenty sixth of the State of California,
Gaven new Sim assigned that into law. Eric delbert Is
is someone who has been to California where you have
to apparently submit a DNA sample just to buy ammunition. Eric,
what's up?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Well, but Chuck, you know what, that's just a little
bit of what you have to go through for a
society without crime. I mean that's you know, you have
to give in.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
A little bit for that. This doesn't stop crime. You
can still sell used blocks, you can't sell new blocks legally.
And again, any a firearm which could be illegally converted
to an illegal machine gun with the illegal glock switch.
If those things are all illegal, why do you need
yet another law. It doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Chuck, It's crazy. I mean, how about we prosecute those
who have the block switch, and not only we prosecute
and we make examples out of them, Chuck, we put
them away so they don't see the light of day
for many years, and so they make it so darn
painful that the next guy says, you know what, I
don't think I'm going to put that on my gun.
(01:53):
How about that, rather than impeding the right of everyone
in California from being able to buy a perfectly legal firearm.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
When you're using a glock pistol, for example, you've got
what nineteen rounds? What's the highest what's the highest capacity clock?
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Probably nineteen okay, so.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
You've got nineteen rounds. Converting that to an automatic, a
fully automatic a machine gun is kind of pointless. I mean, really,
if you're trying to hit something that's going and having
nineteen rounds gone that quickly is not really helping with
your accuracy. So I don't know why anybody do it. Anyway,
The glock switches are coming from Where are they coming
(02:38):
from China? Are they coming from the Middle East? Do
we have a central point that is that's distributing.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
These I think initially they were coming from China. We're
for overseas. I'm hearing now that some of the ones
being recovered on the streets are three D printed. So
it is definitely a problem. But as you mentioned at
the top, we need to get in front of it
and really bring the hammer down. And that's I mean,
Frettin County is the same way we sit back oftentimes
(03:05):
and let these things fester and we don't do anything,
and they continue, and then we wonder why it's chaos
in the streets. There is no no reason whatsoever to
ban the tool in this case in California and hope
it's going to save the world. And it's kind of
a it's kind of a part ban even at that,
it's not even a total outright ban of them. It
(03:27):
will have absolutely zero effect on the crime in the
street there.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Okay, Now, if they're now they're starting to three D
print them here in the United States, then three D
printers are the problem. That's what should be illegal. I mean,
that makes as much sense as this makes. Or how
about using you know, spywear so that if you print
something that resembles a block swich your printer turns you in.
It's going to have to be connected to a computer
(03:53):
in order to do the printing. So your printer should
you know, notify authorities that you're printing blocks, which is
on your your home PC.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Right there you go.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
That makes just as much sense as this law. Do
we have anything comparable here in the state of Ohio
that I mean is equally as stupid when it comes
to that, I guess what I would call pointless legislation.
We think we're fixing a problem that we're really not
fixing at all. It's just posing for the cameras, Chuck.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
They've tried. I mean, we've talked about it many times
on our show, and I've talked about it with you. Luckily,
in Ohio we have the preemption preemption law, which says
that any of these goofy cities can't put a law
into place that pre imp state law in regarding to firearms.
And so right here in Columbus we had the attempt
at a magazine ban. You know, it's been a new
(04:42):
number of things over the years, But I mean it
is continue battle to fight against somebodies. We're not against
doing things that are going to affect change and prevent
the chaos. I mean, it's chaos on the street, chuck,
people stopping in the middle of the freeway, popping off rounds.
It's chaos. There's things that can be done, but the legislators,
(05:02):
I'm not sure they want to fix it, but they
certainly want to impede on the rights of law abiding citizens.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
This is Eric Delbert by the way. He is the
owner of a l EPD Firearms and ranged nine ninety
nine Bethel Road. He has on Target his radio show
on Saturdays at noon here on sixth NA WUTV. And
you know, he's the kind of the go to. You
have really become the central Ohio firearms go to for
all things media, television, radio. When people want to know
(05:28):
something about guns or whatever, they seem to come to you.
So I mean, congratulations to rising to that level of
basically you know the answer man.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Yeah, no, I appreciate. I mean we said it from
the beginning. We want to put the facts out there,
and I think we're getting recognized for that. Actually, we
just to the story today. That's going to air tonight
on the tragic death of the nine year old who
found the gun in his home and ultimately shot and
killed himself. But you know, we if we can help
with the message, you know, being a safe, responsible gun owner,
(05:59):
that's something will gladly step up for and try to
help out.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
You mentioned the you know magazine banning Columbus. Is that
still in court or have we given up on that?
Are thirty round magazines still illegal or is anybody fighting that?
What's the status there?
Speaker 2 (06:13):
It all went away because once again the Ohio Supreme Court,
i think for the third or fourth or fifth time,
said to these cities in this case Columbus, that preemption
is is a constitutional or a law that is applicable
in the state of Ohio, and therefore that does not
come into play. So it got knocked down again. And
(06:34):
here's the thing. Every time they go and do this,
the city is responsible for paying the attorney fees of
the other party. So every time they try this, and
they've tried it multiple times, now is us the taxpayers
who have to pay that bill for them just to
continue to throw things at the wall.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
So the Ohio Supreme Court has decided that my thirty
round magazines are okay.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
They decided that these cities can't put a law in
the plate that preempts the state law, and it is
allowed in the state. So therefore it's.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Good to go sacked. I'm no longer a felon. I'm
going to Disneyland. That's great. Yes, that's great. Now, now
do you have any extra twenty nine ers stuff that
you have to get rid of?
Speaker 2 (07:17):
I do still have some twenty nine ers because at
the time, as you know, we you know, took the
liberty because if our leaders are saying that thirty is bad,
chucked in twenty nine has to be okay, it has
to be. We took the liberty of putting out a
product where it would convert your magazine to twenty nine rounds.
So it'll be interesting to see if when we have
(07:37):
our guests in a couple of weeks, if if he
heard of that that push that we did at the time,
because he was one on the front lines pushing the
thirty round magazine.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Oh, now you know he's heard of it. That's Are
you okay with saying that I didn't want to let
any cats out of bags because I didn't know how
public you had been about that. But that's that's honestly,
it's a big get for you.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
It is, and it's you know what. And what we're
talking about is two week October twenty fifth, the bye
week for hast days. So no reason to not listen
to the show. We're going to have Columbus City prosecutors
that climb on our show, not just on our show,
but live in person with it at the studio.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
And even if I was free to be there, I
would not be because I want to I want to
make sure there's no distractions. I hope you have a
very productive conversation with him. I don't know how open
he's going to be. I already know he's got to
be apprehensive about coming in there. But again, commendations to
you for making the connection and getting him to do it.
Not many people would if that was on DraftKings, not
(08:36):
many people would have taken your chances very well.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Yeah, and Chuck and all in all sincerity. I mean,
we have been opposite on him on a lot of
things over the years, but I will give it to him.
He has agreed to come in and have a civil
discussion based around the facts and we're anxious to do so.
And if I can walk away learning something I didn't
know and maybe show him a couple points that he
obviously doesn't know, then maybe we're for the offer the
(09:01):
better forward here in the city.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
I would be remiss if I didn't ask you, because
I was in a store today and they already had
Christmas crap up. You got any big big stuff you're
playing for, like a big anti California glock sale for Christmas.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
It hasn't come up yet. We'll probably you know, we've
been known for giving away free guns on Black Friday,
so we'll probably end up.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Having to do that again, and just to regular like
customers right now, you don't just like go out on
the streets and look for crackheads.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
No, we just go out on the streets.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Just throw them out. Yeah here, everybody gramble.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
No. It is with the purchase of a membership of
the range. So we started about four or five years ago.
It gained a lot of attention and so we continue
to do that. So we'll probably do some aspect of
that again for Black Friday weekends.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
All right. L e PD Firearms and Range are located
at nine ninety nine Bethel Road just to the what
is that that east of Kenney Road? Pretty easy to find,
great range, great people, great inventory, and usually Eric's not there,
so you don't get annoyed when you go in. Perfect
Is that a good commercial? I appreciate you, buddy, Thanks
(10:04):
very much for your time this afternoon. We will talk
again again very soon. And I'm so proud of him
for getting Zach Klein. I really he's had the chief
of police, collumb his chief of police, and you know,
she's normally not not one to do that kind of thing,
and he got her in there and that went very well.
(10:24):
And now he's got Zach Klein coming in on the
twenty fifth, and that, as far as I'm concerned, that
is a very big get. And I hope, I hope
it's productive. I don't want I don't you know, don't
lay down, don't let the bs run down. He'll roll
over you. But you know, if you can develop a
(10:44):
conversation there and actually maybe get a dialogue going. I
don't know Klin well enough to know whether he will
hear or not, but I hope so, because there are
so many common sense things, and sometimes I truly believe
those people that are anti everything, are so wrapped up
in their world of yes people, that circle that just
(11:08):
constantly agrees with them and pushes them go on going.
You could, Yeah, they don't even know what's going on
outside of that circle. Sometime, so maybe this is an
opportunity for somebody to break that circle and some ideas
to be exchanged. And I'm looking forward to it. I'm
proud Eric for getting it done, and I wish him well.
(11:30):
And yes, I will be tuned into on Target definitely
on the twenty fifth at twelve noon right here on
six ten WUTVN
