Speaker 1 (00:00):
Man.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
He is part of our best Buckeye coverage and Jeff
Logan is joining us right now, and LOGI, good afternoon,
Happy Friday, how are you, brother?
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Happy Friday to you.
Speaker 4 (00:10):
And how about the fact that we're getting ready to
play the very last home game for this Ohio State
Buckeye football team in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
I know, I know, real quick before we get to that,
I wanted to get your thoughts on I don't I
don't know if you've seen any of the highlights or
you even watched, but you know, the Jackets were fantastic
last night in Toronto. I know you're you're a Jackets
fan and and we're a season ticket holder for a
long time.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
But they went in ot last night. It was the
funniest thing.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
LOGI like, I'm I'm watching it, watching the game, and
you know, time expires and it's two to two and
we're going to overtime. And I think it was Steve Mears,
it was one of the one of the guys. It
may have it may have been Jody, I'm not sure,
but they went and the Jackets are going to overtime again.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
You know, they were like, what's new? And then they
started laying it out.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
I think it was like sixty percent of the league
have had like more than one OT this year so far,
something like that.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
It was like, Wow, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
But yeah, Adam fan Tilly was fantastic, and they're gonna
need all they got heading to Detroit tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
They got a day game at one o'clock.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
And Elvis is gonna go between the pipes for him tomorrow,
and obviously that's going to be right during the Buckeye game.
So I'm gonna be in heaven flipping back and forth.
I'll just say it, man, So.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Well, it's standard standard Blue Jackets fashion to be up
two to nothing in a game and let themselves get.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Tied up and have to win it over time. I know.
It's just, you know, we used to joke back in.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
The days when we were season ticket holders, there was
always kind of a mantra for each season, you know,
And the one that I really enjoyed the most was
when they said it's Jackets time, and that was kind
of the thing that everybody kind of chanted that year.
Jackets Time. Well, what we found out was Jackets time
was when you had a lead and gave it up.
(02:08):
I mean's that's what Jackets time became. And once again
they were doing that again last night. But fortunately they've
got people like Fantilly that have the ability to put
the puck in the net. So good for them. And
I can't think of a better way to start beat
Michigan Week than for our hockey team to go up
and win one in the state of Michigan against the
(02:29):
Detroit Red Rings.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
That would be beautiful. You're right.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
The Jackets now are eleven eight and two, which is
a better record than they were at this exact time
last season, So that is promising.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
To say the least.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
The road games though, it's been a little a little
tougher for the Jackets this year, but we'll see how
it goes because they're only halfway through this road trip. So,
like I said, yeah, that's a great way to start
beat Michigan week.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
You're right to do it. Start by beating them tomorrow
and then.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
We'll take it from there, Jackets, I think I should
say with regard to the Buckeyes, so yeah, like I was, like,
you were kind of pointing out, it's the last home
game in the Shoe tomorrow, and man, how good has
this weather been?
Speaker 1 (03:12):
I mean, we've been really lucking out. We could.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
You know, this time of year, it is certainly possible
to be crazy cold, to have snow and all of
this stuff. But it has been a really good weather
season for the Buckeyes in addition to everything else here
in the shoe, don't you agree?
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, no doubt about it.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
And you know, this week has been awful, and I'm
sure that Ohio State has practiced for the most part
all indoors because of the rain and crap that we've
had this week. But it looks like by noon tomorrow
it should be clearing skies and close to fifty degrees.
And if you're playing a game in November and it's
like that, man, you just want to count your blessings
and move on with it, because I ought too often
(03:53):
remember some of the Michigan games that we played here
at the end of November at this time, and they
were nothing like what we're going to have tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Had a good, sloppy, nasty ball, slipping around, can't get
your traction, Oh my gosh, which way is he in
z own?
Speaker 6 (04:07):
Game in a long time.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
I'm looking forward to it, baby, But I think we
need a twenty game season now.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Because that's all that's all we need right now is
staying in the playoffs and let everybody in and then
we can just call it soccer.
Speaker 7 (04:21):
Yeah, why not? I just I can't. I'm not ready
to be done yet, Jeff. This is not right, man.
I just, I'm just And oh, brother, we're far from done.
Let me tell us.
Speaker 6 (04:31):
I know what.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Buckeye team is on fire in Flego for our Hispanic friends.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
They're on fire right now. So we're far from over,
that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Yeah, hey, Blazer.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
The one thing that the one thing that I think
is important for people to understand is that with all
of the success that Ohio State has had dating back
to when Ryan Date took over this program, his record
is off the charts. In fact, in ninety games that
he has been the head football coach, he has the
winning record of the best winning percentage of any Football
(05:06):
Bowl Subdivision coach the fps the Big Schools of any
coach in the history of college football, current or retired
in their first ninety games. Now, having said that, nobody
on this team, no players on this team, have been
to Indianapolis for a Big Ten championship game, which it just.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Blows my mind.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
That here's a team that won the national championship last
year but didn't get into Indianapolis to play for that
title of the Big Ten champion championship. So it's amazing
to me. And I think these seniors, these guys that
are playing their last season at Ohio State, not only
want to finish on a high note with the national championship,
but they've got to beat the team up north. They've
(05:51):
got to get to Indianapolis, and they've got to win
that title and go back to back. And if you
do that, now all of a sudden, you have a
dynasty that you can bank.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
All right, that sounds easy enough to me. We just
uh well, just draw it up. It sounds like sounds
like coach Day. We can just hand that off to
him and be like, here's all you gotta do. Listen.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
It's funny because you know that if there's anybody on
this planet who knows what they have to do, it's
coach Day. Here's a thing too, if well, you know what,
I don't want to do, the what if if we
go up there and disaster strikes and all of that.
The thing that I think is interesting though about the
and I we'll get to Rutgers here in a second.
(06:31):
But when you look at next week already, the Buckeys
are only favored by three and a half versus Michigan.
And I don't know, I mean, what what does that say?
Because that makes me a little bit nervous that Vegas
is looking at that, like, I go, what three and
a half? Are you serious? That's that's I mean, do
you have any thoughts on that? I don't even know
(06:53):
if you knew that or had seen that, And you
might be going, well, look, man, we're we're a game
away from that. Let's get through tomorrow first before we start.
But I just found that shocking when I saw I
looked it up and I went, wow, that's it.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
That's all.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
We're favorite. I get it, We're going up there. But
Michigan has been anything but you know, impressive this year.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Well, the original line, the original line that came out
a couple of days ago, was almost two touchdown favorite.
And I don't know if there is a inside information
as it relates to maybe our two wide receivers that
will or will not play Saturday. We don't know what
that's about or how long term it might be. But
that's the only thing that I could imagine that would
(07:33):
have moved that line from close to two touchdowns down
to three.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
And a half.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Well, sorry, you caught me mid swig there. Sorry.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
And speaking of those guys, speaking of those receivers, Carnell
Tjermiah Smith, we know, well, we don't know for sure,
or do we they're not probably going to play tomorrow,
or for sure they're not playing tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
We don't know anything for sure.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
I would say that they.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Last week going into the game, Carneal Tate was on
the will not participate list and a surprise was Jeremiah
Smith on the questionable And Jeremiah Smith did play the
first quarter, had four catches for forty yards.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
And then took himself out of the game.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
And so we don't have any advance confirmation on what's
going to happen. I think it may be, you know,
maybe it's a game time decision, maybe not. But I
would think that if they can rest both of those guys,
if they are even just close to being ready, why
not sit them one more week and get them ready
for the stretch run, which starts in an arbor.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
A press conference to let the fans know what's going
on with it. You know, I keep I go back
and Mark is making the poopoo face. Emmy, I can't help.
But going back to the Clorette stinger, you know we're
all sitting around going is he going to play?
Speaker 6 (08:48):
Is he okay? What's going on with? Nobody knew and
that anticipation.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Including your opponent.
Speaker 6 (08:53):
If we know.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
We'll have them back for the Michigan game, it would
you know, a lot of heart rates would go down.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
No question about it, no question about it. And I
just think it's going to be one of those things
that you know. The thing it's different today during the
versus the Maurice Clarette thing is that now this gambling
part is legal. In fact, all of the teams are
required two hours before kickoff to put up their availability report,
(09:21):
so it will become public whether these guys are going
to be available or not, but not before two hours
before kick.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
All right, so last week the Buckeyes covered, Boy, howdy
did they?
Speaker 1 (09:34):
I guess?
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Right at the end, they score another touchdown within two
minutes to cover what.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Let's see what was that last week?
Speaker 3 (09:43):
I'm forty eight to ten.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Yeah, eight to ten was the final, and we were
like thirty one point favorite.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Yeah, thirty two and a half was the closing odds
last week at least that's I don't know whatever, either
way they covered and it was towards the very end,
and so yeah, you're right, that is that's huge right
now with the Buckeyes and and as far as you
know the betting market with with you know, OSU and
all of that. I think a lot of people at
(10:10):
three and a half, I mean, who's not going to
jump on that? Because I feel like, and I heard
Coach Conley say it last night, LOGI I was listening,
you know, to you guys for the best Buckeye coverage
the Bucks line, and you know, I heard Coach Conley
remind everybody.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Not that you needed reminded or or you know, Matt
or or even.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Roy for that matter, which I know he wasn't on
with you guys last night, but it's like, hey, defense,
defense is the thing that wins championship. Defense is the
thing that wins a lot of games and so on,
and our defense that's the one constant even if we
don't have Carnel Taate or Jeremiah Smith or you know,
we go up there next week and maybe we only
have one of them, or maybe they're both being rested
(10:52):
because we're getting ready for you know, the playoffs or whatever.
But our defense, I like three and a half. Oh
my gosh. I mean, I can't imagine anybody's not going
to jump all over that. Even though we're going up there,
it's such a small margin. And you think about the
intensity and the type of mindset that the Buckeyes have
(11:12):
going up there, given you know, it's been a long
time since we've come away with a victory versus Michigan.
I just feel like we're gonna run over them next week.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
Well, it's interesting because on paper, when you look at
all the rankings and everything else, and what Ohio State
has done this year, especially on defense, if they don't
score a point, we can't lose. I mean, that's the
simplicity of it. And defense is critically important in this game.
But I'll take you back to a year ago when
Ohio State was a three touchdown favorite against the team
(11:45):
up north and we lose the game, you know, by
three or four points. So you know, there's a lot
of times where the wrecords don't mean anything. It's who's
going to show up and what is it all going
to be you know, when it comes out, you know
what's it going to look like. I think it'll be
really interesting to see how things go down and.
Speaker 6 (12:03):
What did coach say? They wanted it more? That was it.
They wanted it more. And I don't think that's the
case this year.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
Man.
Speaker 6 (12:10):
There are too many points to make, too much, too
much legend to continue.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
I don't think Michigan can possibly want it more than
the buck guys and wanted this year.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Yeah, I'm reading right now because you caught me off
guard on this three and a half points. The betting
line opened with the Buckeyes favored by twelve and a half.
Since then, that line has moved to thirteen and a
half on FanDuel. So I want to make sure you're
getting good information there that that spread is down to
(12:41):
three and a half points, because everything I'm reading is
showing that the spread is still thirteen and a half.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Well, that's interesting.
Speaker 8 (12:47):
I yeah, I mean it was on I was on
one of the sports well sports mobile, the app that
you know that I typically look at.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
They're usually they're usually maybe they haven't updated it yet.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
I could have incorrect information there, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
Yeah, just interested in maybe some of your listeners that
are more into it can send a message to you guys.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
On I don't bet games. I don't that's not my thing.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
But I would be shocked if it went from the
twelve and a half that had opened down to three
and a half. I think it may have been a
misprint therey the odds may have gone up to thirteen
and a half, which makes the last ten minutes of
our conversation mean absolutely nothing at all.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
No, oh, no disaster, Holy cow. Yeah, I get.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
That's why I decided to bring it up LOGI because
when I saw it on my on my betting app,
I was like, well, it's a sports mobile app. Like
I said, it's not a betting app, but it does
you know they do put you know, put the lines
on there. And when I saw it, I went I
did the cartoon if if you could see my eyes that.
Speaker 6 (13:55):
Were like, whoa, what is that sound?
Speaker 4 (13:57):
Again?
Speaker 6 (13:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (13:59):
I was like wow, I couldn't believe it.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
And it turns out there's a reason I shouldn't have
been believing it, I guess, because it ain't real.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
All right, Well, you'll have a chance to be able
to correct things or adjust as is necessary. But the
Buck guy's got to take care of Rutgers first this weekend,
as we know. And you know what's interesting about this
Rutgers football team is there five and five, They've got
to get one more win under their belts to become
Bowl eligible. And if you are from Rutgers, bowl eligibility
(14:27):
is the determination of a successful season. That doesn't go
well in Columbus, Ohio, but it's good enough for them.
Their problem is they've got Ohio State tomorrow and then
their last game of the season will be against Penn
State at home.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
And God only knows.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
What Penn State's going to look like when they show
up at Rutgers, but they're going to try and get
themselves a win to.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Become Bowl eligible.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
And what's really interesting Greg Ciano is we all know
as they head football coach there. He's from New Jersey,
He used to coach there, came to Ohio State as
our defensive coordinator, then back to Rutgers to become their
head football coach. And in the time that he has
been there, Rutgers has blocked seventy six kicks that includes
(15:10):
forty six punts, seventeen field goals, thirteen extra points. Under Ciano,
and they've already got three block kicks this season. So
special teams are a big part of what they do.
And the other part of it is if we look
back going back to twenty twenty, since Schiano has been there,
they have fifteen one five fifteen non offensive touchdowns under
(15:34):
Greg Ciano meaning pick sixes, punt returns, kick returns, scoop
and scores something like that. So they are a very
opportunistic team. If you make mistakes again them against them
and don't pay attention to your special teams, they will
make you pay the price. And that's one of the
things that we don't want to get into tomorrow. So
one of the measures of success tomorrow for Ohio State
(15:57):
will be that our punter never leaves the bet no
punts tomorrow against Rutgers.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
He's been pretty bored most of this year, wouldn't you say?
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Good? Good? You had to stay that way.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
It's just what it's amounted to each week is just
basically practice for him, and then oh yeah he's there,
but just chilling, you know, not a whole lot going on, which, like.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
You said, is great, that's what we want.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
Right So yeah, well, there's the real possibilities. Some of
that may happen because if you look at the defensive
stats for Rutgers in total defense, they rank one hundred
and twentieth in the country in total defense and there's
only one hundred and thirty five of them out there playing.
So guys, we ranked number one in total defense, they ranked.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Number one twenty.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
My guess is we will not punt the ball tomorrow
against Rutgers.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Buck guys are thirty two and a half point favorites
and the over unders fifty five and a half tomorrow
in the Shoe, Like you said, the final home game
for the Buckeyes, the final game in the Shoe regular
season home game in Isshue, And yeah, I see this
one happening and then arward it up or when we
start to beat Ischigan week right after that.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
So I'm going to love it, and we want to
let everybody know that will not only be on Tomorrow
from nine to twelve before kickoff on six to ten
WTVN with our pregame show, but on Monday night we'll
be out at Edison Brewing Company for the Driven Foundation
Beat Michigan edition of Bucks Line. And there may still
(17:30):
be a couple of tickets available if anybody's interesting. You
go to bucks line live dot com I think it
is our bucksline dot com and you can get tickets.
They're forty nine dollars and all the money goes directly
to the Driven Foundation that Roy Hall started along with
Antonio Smith that does a terrific job of providing meals
and other benefits to those in need around the holiday season.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
So hopefully we'll have a packhouse.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
I think there are only a few tickets still available,
so hop on.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
That as quickly as you can.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
If you want to join us on Monday night for
Beet Michigan at Edison Brewing Company out on the East Side.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
That's right, The tickets are forty nine bucks Logi it's

great weekend, and of course any bucks.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Yeah yeah, thank you guys and go bucks.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
All right, very good? All right.
