like that, man, you just want to count your blessings
and move on with it, because I ought too often

of the success that Ohio State has had dating back
to when Ryan Date took over this program, his record
is off the charts. In fact, in ninety games that
he has been the head football coach, he has the
winning record of the best winning percentage of any Football

coach in the history of college football, current or retired
in their first ninety games. Now, having said that, nobody
on this team, no players on this team, have been
to Indianapolis for a Big Ten championship game, which it just.

That here's a team that won the national championship last

intensity and the type of mindset that the Buckeyes have

time since we've come away with a victory versus Michigan.
I just feel like we're gonna run over them next week.

Well, it's interesting because on paper, when you look at
all the rankings and everything else, and what Ohio State
has done this year, especially on defense, if they don't
score a point, we can't lose. I mean, that's the
simplicity of it. And defense is critically important in this game.
But I'll take you back to a year ago when
Ohio State was a three touchdown favorite against the team

up north and we lose the game, you know, by
three or four points. So you know, there's a lot
of times where the wrecords don't mean anything. It's who's
going to show up and what is it all going
to be you know, when it comes out, you know
what's it going to look like. I think it'll be
really interesting to see how things go down and.

Bowl eligible. And if you are from Rutgers, bowl eligibility

is the determination of a successful season. That doesn't go
well in Columbus, Ohio, but it's good enough for them.
Their problem is they've got Ohio State tomorrow and then
their last game of the season will be against Penn
State at home.

What Penn State's going to look like when they show
up at Rutgers, but they're going to try and get
themselves a win to.

And what's really interesting Greg Ciano is we all know
as they head football coach there. He's from New Jersey,
He used to coach there, came to Ohio State as
our defensive coordinator, then back to Rutgers to become their
head football coach. And in the time that he has
been there, Rutgers has blocked seventy six kicks that includes

forty six punts, seventeen field goals, thirteen extra points. Under Ciano,
and they've already got three block kicks this season. So
special teams are a big part of what they do.
And the other part of it is if we look
back going back to twenty twenty, since Schiano has been there,
they have fifteen one five fifteen non offensive touchdowns under

Greg Ciano meaning pick sixes, punt returns, kick returns, scoop
and scores something like that. So they are a very
opportunistic team. If you make mistakes again them against them
and don't pay attention to your special teams, they will
make you pay the price. And that's one of the
things that we don't want to get into tomorrow. So
one of the measures of success tomorrow for Ohio State

will be that our punter never leaves the bet no
punts tomorrow against Rutgers.

want to finish on a high note with the national championship,
but they've got to beat the team up north. They've

got to get to Indianapolis, and they've got to win
that title and go back to back. And if you
do that, now all of a sudden, you have a
dynasty that you can bank.

if you knew that or had seen that, And you
might be going, well, look, man, we're we're a game
away from that. Let's get through tomorrow first before we start.
But I just found that shocking when I saw I
looked it up and I went, wow, that's it.

We're favorite. I get it, We're going up there. But
Michigan has been anything but you know, impressive this year.

Well, the original line, the original line that came out
a couple of days ago, was almost two touchdown favorite.

as it relates to maybe our two wide receivers that
will or will not play Saturday. We don't know what
that's about or how long term it might be. But
that's the only thing that I could imagine that would

have moved that line from close to two touchdowns down
to three.

And a half.

And speaking of those guys, speaking of those receivers, Carnell
Tjermiah Smith, we know, well, we don't know for sure,
or do we they're not probably going to play tomorrow,
or for sure they're not playing tomorrow.

I would say that they.

Last week going into the game, Carneal Tate was on
the will not participate list and a surprise was Jeremiah
Smith on the questionable And Jeremiah Smith did play the
first quarter, had four catches for forty yards.

And then took himself out of the game.

And so we don't have any advance confirmation on what's
going to happen. I think it may be, you know,
maybe it's a game time decision, maybe not. But I
would think that if they can rest both of those guys,
if they are even just close to being ready, why
not sit them one more week and get them ready
for the stretch run, which starts in an arbor.

A press conference to let the fans know what's going
on with it. You know, I keep I go back

But going back to the Clorette stinger, you know we're

required two hours before kickoff to put up their availability report,

so it will become public whether these guys are going
to be available or not, but not before two hours
before kick.

All right, so last week the Buckeyes covered, Boy, howdy

minutes to cover what.

now with the Buckeyes and and as far as you
know the betting market with with you know, OSU and

three and a half, I mean, who's not going to
jump on that? Because I feel like, and I heard
Coach Conley say it last night, LOGI I was listening,
you know, to you guys for the best Buckeye coverage
the Bucks line, and you know, I heard Coach Conley
remind everybody.

Not that you needed reminded or or you know, Matt

Roy for that matter, which I know he wasn't on
with you guys last night, but it's like, hey, defense,
defense is the thing that wins championship. Defense is the
thing that wins a lot of games and so on,
and our defense that's the one constant even if we
don't have Carnel Taate or Jeremiah Smith or you know,
we go up there next week and maybe we only
have one of them, or maybe they're both being rested

because we're getting ready for you know, the playoffs or whatever.
But our defense, I like three and a half. Oh
my gosh. I mean, I can't imagine anybody's not going
to jump all over that. Even though we're going up there,
it's such a small margin. And you think about the
intensity and the type of mindset that the Buckeyes have

going up there, given you know, it's been a long
time since we've come away with a victory versus Michigan.
I just feel like we're gonna run over them next week.

Well, it's interesting because on paper, when you look at
all the rankings and everything else, and what Ohio State
has done this year, especially on defense, if they don't
score a point, we can't lose. I mean, that's the
simplicity of it. And defense is critically important in this game.
But I'll take you back to a year ago when
Ohio State was a three touchdown favorite against the team

up north and we lose the game, you know, by
three or four points. So you know, there's a lot
of times where the wrecords don't mean anything. It's who's
going to show up and what is it all going
to be you know, when it comes out, you know
what's it going to look like. I think it'll be
really interesting to see how things go down and.

What did coach say? They wanted it more? That was it.
They wanted it more. And I don't think that's the
case this year.

There are too many points to make, too much, too

line opened with the Buckeyes favored by twelve and a half.
Since then, that line has moved to thirteen and a
half on FanDuel. So I want to make sure you're
getting good information there that that spread is down to

three and a half points, because everything I'm reading is
showing that the spread is still thirteen and a half.

I yeah, I mean it was on I was on

and a half. I think it may have been a
misprint therey the odds may have gone up to thirteen

our conversation mean absolutely nothing at all.

Buck guy's got to take care of Rutgers first this weekend,
as we know. And you know what's interesting about this
Rutgers football team is there five and five, They've got
to get one more win under their belts to become
Bowl eligible. And if you are from Rutgers, bowl eligibility

is the determination of a successful season. That doesn't go
well in Columbus, Ohio, but it's good enough for them.
Their problem is they've got Ohio State tomorrow and then
their last game of the season will be against Penn
State at home.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
And God only knows.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
What Penn State's going to look like when they show
up at Rutgers, but they're going to try and get
themselves a win to.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Become Bowl eligible.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
And what's really interesting Greg Ciano is we all know
as they head football coach there. He's from New Jersey,
He used to coach there, came to Ohio State as
our defensive coordinator, then back to Rutgers to become their
head football coach. And in the time that he has
been there, Rutgers has blocked seventy six kicks that includes
(15:10):
forty six punts, seventeen field goals, thirteen extra points. Under Ciano,
and they've already got three block kicks this season. So
special teams are a big part of what they do.
And the other part of it is if we look
back going back to twenty twenty, since Schiano has been there,
they have fifteen one five fifteen non offensive touchdowns under
(15:34):
Greg Ciano meaning pick sixes, punt returns, kick returns, scoop
and scores something like that. So they are a very
opportunistic team. If you make mistakes again them against them
and don't pay attention to your special teams, they will
make you pay the price. And that's one of the
things that we don't want to get into tomorrow. So
one of the measures of success tomorrow for Ohio State
(15:57):
will be that our punter never leaves the bet no
punts tomorrow against Rutgers.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
He's been pretty bored most of this year, wouldn't you say?

Good? Good? You had to stay that way.

It's just what it's amounted to each week is just
basically practice for him, and then oh yeah he's there,
but just chilling, you know, not a whole lot going on, which, like.

Right So yeah, well, there's the real possibilities. Some of
that may happen because if you look at the defensive
stats for Rutgers in total defense, they rank one hundred
and twentieth in the country in total defense and there's
only one hundred and thirty five of them out there playing.
So guys, we ranked number one in total defense, they ranked.

Number one twenty.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
My guess is we will not punt the ball tomorrow
against Rutgers.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Buck guys are thirty two and a half point favorites
and the over unders fifty five and a half tomorrow
in the Shoe, Like you said, the final home game
for the Buckeyes, the final game in the Shoe regular
season home game in Isshue, And yeah, I see this
one happening and then arward it up or when we
start to beat Ischigan week right after that.
