Speaker 1 (00:00):
I don't know if you noticed jed or out, you know,
with gas lead at two dollars and twenty cents a
gallon here in central Ohio. But the government shut down
and uh it's today is two weeks now of the
federal government shut down. And uh, I I know at
some level a lot of people have noticed it. I've
only noticed it basically in the news coverage. It is
a frustrating thing, and I know we all want to

(00:23):
get past it, just so we can move on in
kind of regular fashion. Congressance. Jim Jordan is joining me
right now. And what are you what are you doing
to occupy yourself these days? Just kind of hanging around
waiting for a demograph to show up?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Now I'm actually in DC today. We got some I
got some meetings tomorrow and doing a TV thing tonight
on NewsNation, and and we broke some news about you know,
we're we're looking to bring Jack Smith in for a deposition.
So you know, you look at look at what we've
learned of late with some of the some of the
lawyers who work for him. Uh, they've come in and

(00:54):
taken the fifth would answer some of our key questions.
Of course, we know how Jack Smith conducted that investigation,
with the raid on Mari Lago, with the gag order
they imposed in a host of other things. And so
we think it's important that in light of the fact
that two of the three lawyers who worked for the
Special Council, mister Smith, have exercised their Fifth Amendment rights
when we brought them in for depositions, we think it's

(01:15):
now time to bring in mister Smith. So we're working
on that today as well. And but yeah, it's like
I thought you were getting ready to say that, you know,
the government shuts down, the gas prices go down. I
thought that was the correlation you were making there. But
I don't know, So I don't know if there's anything there.
But what I do know is what President Trump has
accomplished in uh In in the Middle East and releases

(01:35):
the hostages. I think, and I'm working with our our
dear and great friend the state of Israel has been
just truly amazing. And uh so the president got that
done while Chuck Schumer shutting down the government. I think
that's that's to take away a lot of a lot
of folks polease from the fourth District of Ohio. I
think have at this time.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
I'm glad you got the you know you're pursuing, mister Smith,
because the you know, when you're the administration is the
step child of what was supposed to be the most
transparent administration ever in the history of the country. And
everybody refuses to answer questions on the grounds that it
might incriminate them. That should tell you something. And you know,
going after these people relentlessly, I think is really the

(02:15):
only way. And frankly, this is prime time to do it.
With gasoline prices going down, with I believe the economy
getting stronger, with the Middle Eastern situation in Israel and
Hamas and freed hostages and so forth, this is the
time to do it because I think more people in
this country who have not been receptive to this point

(02:36):
may open their eyes and ears a little bit and say, well,
let me see this guy's on a roll. Let me
let me see what's going on, and this could be
a good thing.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah. Well, the president president certainly in a role. I mean,
you know, look, the border secure taxes have been cut,
the big beautiful bill did a lot of good things
I think that help American families, and of course is
what he's done in the foreign policy realm with a
number of places where he has ended intoed wars, into hostilities,
and of course nothing bigger than what happened here in
the last several days, uh with with with the state

(03:07):
of Israel. So yeah, he is, he's definitely on a roll.
And what I always say is he's doing what he
told the voters he was going to do. He campaigned
on these kinds of things. And actually, you know, I
say all the time, I think we make the job
too complicated. It's pretty basic. What did you tell the
voters you were going to do if you get elected,
go do that? And President Trump has has done that,

(03:27):
and of course the left doesn't like it, and they
tried to get him for a decade. And Jack Smith
was an integral part of that, that law fair and
that weaponization of the Justice Department, the gag order, the
raid on his home, manipulating evidence that they seize from
his from his home, in the in the in the
classified Documents case, prosecutors taking the phone prosecutes to work

(03:48):
for Jacksmith, taking the phone of a sitting member of Congress,
Congressman Terry from Pennsylvania. And then of course we learned
just the last week that they were actually spying on
other members of Congress, eight senators and another member of
the House. All those things happened. And then when we
bring in the lawyers who were all part of that,
who work for Jack Smith, they take the Fifth Amendment,

(04:08):
which they're allowed to do under our amazing Constitution. But
we think that all warrants bringing in bringing in Jack
Smith for a deposition.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
This is Congressman Jim Jordan on the Legacyetirement Group dot
Com phone lines. You'll recall back when Donald Trump was
just Kennedy Trump, he tried to tell people they're spying,
they're tapping my phones or tapping Trump Tower, they're spying,
and everybody said, ah, he's crazy. He's just orange and crazy.
And now once again, you know his alleged paranoid and

(04:36):
crazy stuff is coming out as being truth and we
need more of that.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Well, their response would be Jack Smith would say, oh,
we're doing the normal surveillance that you do when you're
doing an investigation. Well, I don't know that it's normal
to get the toll analysis, the phone analysis who members
of Congress and members and I say, Senate, who they're calling,
what time of day? They called the number that the
call went to. I mean, that's the kind of stuff
they were doing. Two members of Congress when they took

(05:04):
Scott Perry's phone, Congressman Perry's phone, they actually did spy
on him prior to doing so, because we saw the
order at the FBI says we want to know where
he lives, they want to know what kind of vehicle
he drives. They were doing those kind of things. So
this is this is all going on by uh bye bye,
by our Justice Department. And again they did it. And
remember Jack Smith was named special counsel literally a week

(05:29):
after President Trump announces that he's going to run for
president again. It's like, okay, here comes Jack Smith. Now
this and they believe they were going to take President
Trump down, that they were going to stop him. I
think it was that political, And of course we think
there are questions that that mister Smith needs answered.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Did you think it was just really really sweet for
mister Biden to issue a statement complimenting Donald Trump on
his statement My administration worked relentlessly to get those hostages released,
and uh and congratulations did Donald Trump for getting him
across the finish line or something like that.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
I thought you a little Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Well you have to take credit for yourself and and
and your failed administration. Just just say good job Donald
Trump and move on.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Yeah, yeah, you would, you would think so. But of
course they I saw Jake Sullivan, who was one of
those National Security advisors when when in the Biden administration,
and he did he did sort of the same thing
on Sunday he was on he was on the Dana
bast Show after I was actually on that show too,
but I've watched him a little later and he said
basically the same kind of thing that you know, we
laid a lot of groundwork for this, and we've worked

(06:34):
so it's sort of the same message. But yeah, I mean,
I would argue this doesn't happen if President Trump doesn't.
Doesn't President Trump in the state of Israel, our military,
don't take out Iran's nuclear capabilities. That that the that
that established the context and framework and and and and
enabled this to happen. Just like back in his first term,
you don't get the Abraham Accords if you first don't

(06:54):
put the embassy in Jerusalem, which is something in President
Trump promised to do in that in that campaign in sixteen.
So when you have a a commander in chief, a
president who projects strength, does what he says, shows resolve
like President Trump has. That's when you get the results. Uh.
And and he's demonstrated that now time and time again.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Sunday shows made me nuts this week. I tell every
Democrat on every network it was. It reminded me of gravitas.
It was they all were saying exactly the same thing,
with the same words, pounding home the same points over
and over again. You can't tell me that this isn't
orchestrated and rehearsed. It's it's almost sad that they have
no independent ideas.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah, no, they're they're pretty good at singing off the
same singing on the same hymnal or off the song
page I guess, or whatever that statement goes. But the
facts of the facts. And look, Chuck Schumer voted six
months ago to fund the government. This is the same
level of funding he voted for them, but he won't
do it now. You know this, this is really a

(07:54):
debate between Chuck Schumer and himself. Uh. And he should
pick the common sense, Uh, you know version Chuck Schumer
that he voted for six months ago versus the you know,
siding with the left, the hard left that controls his
UH controls his party. So we'll see, let's uh. It's
the good news is President Trump is indicated they're gonna
they're gonna find the resources to make sure our troops

(08:16):
get paid. And we'll keep seeing if the Democrats can
get past this big no King's rally, this left radical
rallies they are having, uh this weekend, and once that's
over us, they'll get back to common sense and actually
open the do.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
I just hope they're not naked for this one.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
I mean all of that. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Before I say goodbye to you, I don't want to
blindside you. But this has popped up on my my
news feed about twenty minutes ago, and I don't know
if it's significant to the United States or not. What
do you know about Madagascar?

Speaker 2 (08:45):
I don't know. I haven't heard anything, okayident today.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Yeah, president has fled the country. The military has taken over,
and I don't I heard them.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Yeah, I've not seen that. So we'll check into it.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
All of this good news out of out of and Israel,
and then boom, something else happens. It Just like I
didn't know if that was a big significance to the
United States interest or not, because I've heard obviously of
the country, but I didn't know if we had any
kind of relationship or affiliation.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Well, well, Metagascar's what. That's the island that's way around on
the on the east side of Africa, I believe, but
i'd not heard anything about that.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
All right, let's hope we don't don't have to hear
too much about it. Congratulations on maintaining your sunny disposition
in the face of all of this silliness. What is
this day fifteen something along those lines.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
I think it is.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
I appreciate you, and we'll talk to you again next week.
Congressman Jim Jordan, he is he is down in DC
for what it's worth. As the federal government, have you noticed,
by the way, Zach has I mean, I guess national
parks and they've cut back some things. Some air traffic
controllers are not showing up or using sick time or whatever.

(09:55):
But just in your day to day world, have you
noticed anything and and said, oh my gosh, it's because
the government shut down, not at all?

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Zero percent.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Note this, and so when Trump says I'm going to
use this opportunity to get rid of a bunch of
federal employees. If we're not missing them after two weeks
of of this, maybe they should be. God. I mean
that's you know, you don't want to see people unemployed.
But by the same token, if they're if they are

(10:27):
not what you know is required to run the country
on a on a day to day basis, maybe there
there is some room to uh to eliminate some jobs.
I just I don't know, as I said, I know
that there are some services and some uh some uh
uh what do you call it offices? I guess of
the government where it is going to be noticeable. Social

(10:50):
Security office. You can't just go in there and get
a new card or something right now. And uh, the
National Parks, I understand, are you know, understaffed because they're
down to bare bones in the number of people that
are working there. But you know, the IRS is still functioning,
although they're running on about half. But remember the Obama

(11:11):
administration brought an eighty seven thousand new IRS agents, so
that if they are the ones who aren't there, well,
we didn't want them in the first place. I'm just
saying it's if it was impacting us more, maybe we
would care more. But I don't think and maybe it's
just me, but I don't think for most people on

(11:34):
a day to day basis, I don't think we're waking
up in the morning going, oh no, the government's still closed.
What am I going to do? Unless you know, we're
just we're furloughed from our government job. That's about the
only way that it gets in your face and says
hello every time you open your eyes in the morning.
