Speaker 1 (00:00):
Congressman Jim Jordan is joining us now and Congressman, welcome
again to the show. I wanted to I wanted to,
uh say, I didn't get to talk to you about this,
but I uh the last time you were on, I
forgot to mention it. But I played TBC Sawgrass, the
stadium course there in Panovidra Beach where the Players.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Championship is every year.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
So I played that, and uh, Russell, your guy that
I communicate with, he I had sent him a if
you can ask him because I sent the video.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
But so I pared. I parred one, two and three.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
I also parreed, I parred sixteen, and I parred seventeen.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Yeah, congratulation.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yes, let me tell you something.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
It was all day the I just could not stop
thinking about seventeen. And it was like heat index was
probably around one oh eight one oh six that day
and I my tea time was at ten am and
so it was pretty warm for most of the round.
But to and by the way, full discloser, I shot
(01:05):
ninety eight. I lost six golf balls, but I had
five really good holes.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
But there's Pete Dye who he designed that course.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
I mean, it is it is such a masterpiece.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
And I don't know if you've ever played it, but
there's so much water, so much sand, and it's different
hitting off that kind of grass and all of those things.
But when I got to seventeen, it was playing one
forty one. We played the Proteas, and that was the
Proteas that I played for the day. The rest of
it I did not play from the Proteas. But that
particular hole. Our Catie was like, I think everybody you know.
(01:40):
He he was saying, you know, he'd watched everybody. Oh da,
He's like, everybody can hit from here. This is not plus.
I want you to be able to kind of have
some sort of trophy if you will, because you're hitting
from the same teas that we watch all of the
coverage every year for the Players Championship.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
And it was one forty one.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Wind was kind of down from the left a little bit,
kind of helping a little bit, and I left it out.
It leaked a little bit. I'm sure you know the hole,
and so I carried, of course the bunker in the middle,
but it leaked a little bit to the right and
it landed where the pin would be on Sunday over
in that area.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Yeah, yeah, and then.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
It was about a fifteen footer fourteen footer uphill right
to left, and I ended up under the hole and
then tapped in, but I ended up parting.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
It was unbelievable. It was so cool, and I knew
you'd appreciate it being a.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
Golfer and so yeah, yeah, well I'm not sure ID
par seventeen, but I like to play from time to time,
so that by the way, you know, of course, the
dives are from Urbana, Ohio, and we have the first
first I think the first dive built course was the
Urbana country Club at Glann or one of these first
ones in the of course we haven't. We've had an
(02:50):
event there for I don't know twenty some years. Every
fall we do an event there at the Amana Country
Club and a little fundraising event. So yeah, we appreciate
what they've meant to often.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
That is awesome, And you're right, yeah, I did know
that they were from there. And people always talk about
how Pete die hates golfers because of the way he
designs the golf courses.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
Somewhere, yeah, I lost you, there's somewhere I apologize where
we're traveling today. So oh okay, I'm not yet.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Okay, you can still hear me though, right, yeah, okay, yeah,
people have people always lament that Pete die hates golfers
because you know the way he signs the golf courses
and they're they're pretty rough. I mean, that is a
you could see where you back up play the back teas.
It plays much longer than where I played it from
all day, And like I told you, I still that
(03:44):
was my first go around.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
But I feel so confident.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I feel confident that I could I could score a
lot better or just given another shot at it. Being
able to play it one time so far, but yeah,
what a very special place it was. Man, it was
so much fun being able to do that and then
also having having the video of me doing it as well.
I sent that to Russell so when you see him
go ye, it's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
It is.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Uh, It's definitely one of my one of my trophy moments,
there's no question about that. I was laughing by the
way your tweet that you sent out. I think it
may have been Thursday or so on last WI, but
it was like, can you imagine if Biden had to
negotiate with Putin, which I laughed out loud when I
saw that, because I feel like it went well. And
(04:32):
and your thoughts on that and then what we're witnessing,
and I don't know how much you've been able to
follow it today, Like you said, you're traveling, but you know,
President Trump having some of the a ton of European
leaders there in the White House along with President Zelenski
and so on, trying to get this thing handled. But
your thoughts on what you've you know, how you're feeling
so far about everything with this, well, I.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Think first of all, you're to the to the tweet.
I do think that if President Trump would have been
in the White House that I'm just not I just
don't think that. I just don't think Putin would have
went into Ukraine, that Russia would have in Ukraine. Second,
I think President Trump said he knows how to make
a deal, he knows how to negotiate, He's great at it.
Uh and he's a guy who has always come through
(05:15):
with what he said he was going to do. You know,
you look at he said he was going to secure
the border. He did. He said he was going to
uh cut tact as he did in the big beautiful
Bill said he'd getting in out of women's sports. He
said he get NATO countries to kick in more for
for NADO defense and on and on a go.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
So uh.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
He also said he was gonna he's going to figure
out a way if he could, to stop this conflict,
this war in Ukraine. So I think he'll be successful.
We just have to wait and see. I know their
meeting as we speak, I believe, so they're in the
White House, so we'll see how that that all shakes out.
But but I never forget when when shortly after Russia
invaded Ukraine, Mike Pompeo, former Secretary of State, was was
(05:51):
doing an interview and uh, the host asked him, you know,
would this has happened if if if President Trump were president,
and and I thought, I thought Trey pumpe gave the
best answer. He said. The short answer is, I don't know,
But I do know this. It didn't happen when President
Trump was within the White House. So I think that
says a lot the strength that he projects as commander
(06:13):
in chief and as leader of our country. So I'm
hopeful he can now solve what happened under Biden and
hopefully we can get this thing resolved.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
One of the reporters tweeted out German Chancellor voices some
resistance to the idea of peace negotiations without first achieving
a cease fire, and the quote was, to be honest,
we all would like to see a ceasefire at the
latest from the next meeting on. I can't imagine that
the next meeting would take place without a ceasefire. So
let's work on that, and let's try to put pressure on,
(06:43):
you know. And he goes on, and I say to myself,
you know, did.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
You guys step up? Did Germany? Are you?
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Did you guys step up and try to get everything
going here? I think this is President Trump's show. And
you know when I see something like that, hey, look,
you can put in your thoughts or whatever, but don't
be start don't don't don't try to start calling the
shots or saying it should.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Go this way. That's the end.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Look, man, I get riled up because you know, nobody
else and Chuck and I were having this conversation off air,
is like, you know, nobody else is trying to do anything.
This is President Trump trying to get this worked out.
And for the betterment of everybody. And I believe at
the root of all this his motive is pure in
that he's like, I want people to stop dying. We
(07:28):
got kids, We've got young men who are fighting, and
this is a BS war. And so this is something
that I feel like at the at the nuclear of
this whole thing is that he's trying to It's it's
pure in what he's trying to do. But when I
see stuff like that, I just want to go, you
know what, shut up you.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
You know, nobody ask you to try to step up here.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
You know, I agree.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
And again I'll go back to We've never had a
i think an elected official who's done more of what
he said he would use than President Trump. You go
back to his first term. He said he was, you know,
going to cut taxes. Then he did. He said he
was going to put conservatives on the court. He did.
He said he was going to put the embassy in
Jerusalem he did. You could use this term. He said
he was going to get the Reconciliation package through that
(08:12):
made sure tax cuts happened for the American people. He did.
He said he would secure the border. You know, you
can just keep going all the things so this is
another thing he talked about during an issue he talked
about during the campaign. He said he was going to
try to do everything he could get this this this
this ward end, and let's give him some time, and
let's let's let him, let's let him operate and and
(08:33):
and get this done, so hopefully it works out. I'll
be interested to see what what happened after this meeting,
what we hear about what took place in the White
House today with all these European leaders and President Zelinski
in there with the White U with with President Trump.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
I'm just wondering, Congressman, was there any uh, any indication
at all of any negatives coming from the Putin meeting,
because I I haven't even seen the press that normally
would love to tell you all the bad stuff. I
haven't even seen them covering the story and any you
were mentioning earlier. You don't think it would have happened
with Trump in office, even Vladimir Putin admitted with President
(09:10):
Trump in office there probably would have been no invasion.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Oh I lost you there again for a second.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Are we can hear?
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Yeah? Yeah, I mean you know the press is going
to be the press the left is going to be
the left. They're always critical of President Trump. But I
think you know, the one thing the press was say, well,
he didn't solve it at the very moment that they
walked in. You know, It's like that, that's sort of
the They always hold President Trump some different standard, most
(09:43):
most Democrat, uh to and certainly Democrat presidents too. So again,
I think we just let President Trump do what he's
good at, which is negotiating and working out deals, working
at agreements. Let's let him do that. He's got a
good team. I've been very impressed with Secretary of State
Rubio throughout the seven months there, you know that throughout
this uh this administration. So I think we just let them.
(10:06):
Let them do the things that they're capable of doing.
Mister Whitlock and the whole team. Just let them operate
and let's see if let's see if we can get
this alved.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Hey.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
You know what, also, I knew Gavin Newsom, Governor Newsom
is you know, I think we all kind of know
who he really is, his true colors and so on.
I don't the severe case of Trump derangement syndrome that's
going on right now is it is far exceeded anything
that I thought was really going on. And every time
(10:38):
he tweets something out, I'm saying to myself when I
look at it, I'm like, can this be real? Can
one man be this consumed and and think that he
is this and that? With regard to I don't know
how much of that you've been following, Congressman.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
But well, yeah, your thoughts on that, it's it's all
the coddle.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
It's all the coddle of the left. It's all the
pacify the left. And you know, we many times the
radical left controls their party. Not all Democrats are crazy,
but the left that controls their party is, and that
they so many of these elective officials think they have
to cozy up to the left because that's where the
energy is in the Democrat Party. And so I assume
(11:16):
it's it's all that. And the way you cozey up
to today's radical left is you think negative things about
President Trump. It's the only thing that unites the left
because all their other issues are crazy, all the other
issues that the country says that's ridiculous. As President Trump
likes to point out, I think it's very very accurate.
We're the party of common sense. They're the party are crazy,
(11:36):
and they're the party crazy because of the radical left.
Every every single issue seems to be this, even this
current issue with President Trump saying we're going to clean
up the streets in the crime in DC. Oh, it's
you know, they go crazy on that as well. So
I think that's what I think, that's what Governor Newsom
is up to. And obviously it seems like he's pointing
(11:58):
towards a possible run for.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
The And you know what, they also they've I think
they've already we've seen this movie before, right where their
whole platform is just anti Trump, anti Trump, and it
feels like they've gravitated right back towards that. And I
don't know where you come down. I go, keep hey,
keep going. You have zorin mom, Donnie have him be
your guy. Please make him the face of your party,
(12:22):
because you guys are going down in flames again. You know,
it's just like but it seems like they're just it's
the same playbook.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
They It's almost like they didn't learn anything. But you
know what, it could beat our it could be for
our benefit though.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
Right, yeah, we'll see, you know, we're we got to
win the midterms or they'll they'll go to their their
you know, impeachment and investigations and all the things that
they'll do to the president and to president orders. So
that's why it's important we win these midterms coming up.
And I think I think we're in a good position.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Congressman Jim Jordan, thanks for joining us on the road.
I appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Thanks see you man a right, did you have thoughts
like cause I don't know, if you want to.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
I could. I could spend forty five minutes very easily
talking to it. I would love to have had time
to get into, you know, the other house. Now this year,
you and I were talking off the yether with this
first Shared Brown commercial, and you know.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
For the past eight months, they've been killing America.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
And I want him it's Operation letter Talk Shared Brown style.
Let him talk, Yeah, because if that's the tack he takes,
I have a feeling he fails miserably.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Well on in one week when he joins us again.
It's not like that's all the way. The special election
next year anyway for Housted, Senator Houstead. But but we
can we can get Congressman thoughts on that you know, so.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Fifteen minutes after the announcement for the commercials to start.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Though I know he's already is.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Going to be long drawn out and expensive.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
He's on the trail already
