Speaker 1 (00:00):
Former l RP chair and Trump campaign advisor Bapa Doucheck
in studio with me, and uh, he's if I didn't
know better, I'd think you're trying to talk me into
doing a podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Well, no, it's not necessarily with you, not with you.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
We just came up with a great name for it.
I mean, you came up with a great name for it.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
He wants me.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
And you know what, because I I am very fluent
in blackjack. I've played, you know, hundreds of thousands of hands,
and I've been in so many tournaments and you win
and I and I've been at final tables and so on.
You know, I was, I was actually even you know,
I was told that that would be something that possibly
I should really explore or consider, just because of how

(00:41):
passionate I am about it. And I said, what if
we called it splitting Queens? And which is the double
name for a podcast? Which is the double on Tandra?
You're never supposed to split face cards in.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
Blackjack for people that play blackjack.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
You sort of have to explain that because if somebody's
never played blackjack before, you know, don't know that when
you have a pair of queens or kings or a
king and a queen. You've got twenty and you want
to stay.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Exactly and there are people who are dumb and we'll
split those. And Alex Stone's joining us now for ABC News. Alex,
do you play Blackjack?

Speaker 5 (01:16):
No, I don't.

Speaker 6 (01:16):
I have no idea what you're talking about. Okay, I
mean I kind of know what you're talking about. I've
played before, but I'm not. I'm not I'm not big
into it.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Yeah, yeah, but yeah, that's one. I just lose money,
that's all that's bad.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
But yeah, that's clearly it's one of the perils when
you sit down at a black deda.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
But that's where so yeah, Bob and I were talking
about it during the break and I was like, yeah,
but I need a good name for it. I don't
want just like you know, And so I don't know
that they are splitting queens. People who play Blackjack are
looking around for a podcast about it.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Would know exactly what that is.

Speaker 5 (01:52):
If they got your podcast voice going on though, you
need to.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Talk softer, And I do know, yeah, you know, I
didn't know that.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
I feel like so many of them sound that way.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Oh so am I trying to be informational or turn
them on. I mean, which which is that? Or should
I try for both?

Speaker 5 (02:09):
For both? Now?

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Oh, I love he's so transparent.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
I love Alex.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Oh boy. The other name that came off the top
of my head was hold them with one hand, and.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
I think that could be something else.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Exactly exactly So, when you play double deck blackjack and
they're dealing the cards to you and you're allowed to
pick them up, which isn't every casino does not offer that.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Caesar's, for instance.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Does in high limit they have double deck blackjack, and
double deck is just what it sounds like.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
It's two decks that they're working off of, and they do.
They deal you the cards.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
They're face down and you're allowed to pick the cards up,
and nobody else sees your cards, and so as a result,
they don't like other people to see you cards because
people that are counting cards are making a plus minus
or the count. They can see your cards and then
that that adds to their count, where you know the
advantage is either increasing or decreasing in that situation, well,

(03:13):
you're not allowed to add a second hand.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
When you're holding the cards.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
It's they and they the the I swear the dealer
is always like one hand only, please, one hand only,
Like they have to constantly remind people that sit down
now that isn't That is a really long explanation for
the name of a podcast. So that tells me probably
out that yeah, that one's not a good one, Uh
for sure, Alex. Do you want to hear about Wendy's

(03:39):
new grilled cheese cheeseburger or Kim Kardashian graduating from law school?

Speaker 6 (03:44):
I want to hear about the cheeseburger? Yeah, can I
get you?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Every day Kardashian gets beat out by a Wendy's.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
Hey, I don't care about Kardashian, but what about the
Wendy Well.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Look at this.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
They're doing the grilled cheese cheeseburger, and it's what it
sounds like. The buns are grilled cheese.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
You know.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
They invented that. It's called a paddy melt.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Oh but no, no, no, no, that's different. This is
a grilled cheese sandwich. A grilled cheese sandwich on the
bottom and then the meat in the middle, like it's
an actual sandwich on the top bond, the top bun
and then the bottom bun as well.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Is a grilled cheese you know, It sounds like a
bypass to me.

Speaker 6 (04:24):
Yeah, it sounds horrible for you, but does sound good?
It sounds cheesy.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Well guess what. It's only in Canada. And this is
why it makes me so mad. I'm like, how does.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Wendy's do that? Why would they do that to us?
You guys have Wendy's right out there?

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Oh yeah, okay, all right, they got in and out.
I mean that's really where you want to go for
a bird.

Speaker 6 (04:43):
Right, Yeah, that's what a hamburger is all about. Yep,
that's their slogan, in and out, here we go. That's
what a Hamburgers all about? Is that what they the jingle?
Oh yeah, that's catchy. It's available as a single double.
Can you imagine somebody ordering a triple three.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Pieces of three pieces of meat between a grilled cheese
on the top and a grilled cheese on the bottom.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
What is it that's gonna clock about?

Speaker 5 (05:08):
Brickwilled cheese burger grilled cheese thing?

Speaker 2 (05:11):
He please?

Speaker 6 (05:11):
Yeah, that's a lot of calories.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
It's gonna be twenty eight hundred, I mean, something dumb,
just like stupid. So it is in Canada right now only,
but they're they're contemplating bringing it here. Aren't we the
fattest nation?

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Really? The US is fatter than Canada.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
I think, oh yeah, yeah, so I'm sure it's gonna
make its way here.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
That would be that huge splash.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
That was in America if they would do that here,
I think that would be that would be huge. So,
as we know, it's the Memorial Day weekend, we're on uh,
it's upon us here, and the travel by the numbers
looks like we're gonna possibly be breaking some records out.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
Yeah, a bunch of them.

Speaker 6 (05:49):
Remember a couple of months ago when all the airlines
were like, oh, bookings are all down because of economic stuff,
and now it seems like the people are are definitely traveling,
at least for now. So all the problems of late
at Newark and the weather on the East Coast, with
all that, it actually looks pretty good today. Only seventy
eight canceled flights in the US, which is great compared
to times where it's a big day and we're talking

(06:10):
thousands of flights canceled. Boston and Ford Lauderdale they've had
a couple of cancelations because of weather, but Ford Lauderdale
it's like fourteen total seven in seven out of departures
and arrivals, so it's really smooth overall. Still, if you're
going to the airport, especially any of the big airports,
big long lines. As people are getting out this one
in Chicago, she showed up, went, whoa, this is crazy.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
When I walked in, hopefully we can make our flight.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
She made it.

Speaker 6 (06:39):
And United says today is its busiest day, about half
million passengers flying today. Other airlines said, well, it's yesterday
and today. Yesterday the nor'easter up the East Coast created problems,
and at Newark, which is a big United hub, they've
cut way back on their flights to deal with all
that air traffic control, staffing stuff that they've got. So
tripa A says about forty five million people are traveling

(07:02):
over Memorial Day weekend, that is a record, About four
million of them are by air. This guy heading out
to the big trouble spot and even he says, it
looks good.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
We are flying to New York. So it's arguably the
worst airport in the world.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
But so far, so good.

Speaker 6 (07:18):
Yeah, they've kind of dealt with it and figured out
how to deal with it. So the top places domestically
people are going, what do you think is number one?

Speaker 2 (07:24):
I would say it would be can't be Vegas?

Speaker 5 (07:29):
Vegas is number four. It's up there.

Speaker 6 (07:33):
Trimple A says, Orlando, then Seattle, then New York and
then Vegas. And internationally it goes Rome, Vancouver, Paris, and London.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
For folks who are going overseas.

Speaker 6 (07:45):
And a little tidbit from Expedia, they say, if you
want a beach destination, remember back when Hawaii was like
super cheap because the fires, nobody was going there. Yeah,
they say, now the airfare price is there through the roof,
so Tampa or for Lauderdale will save you about fifty
percent on airfare going there over Hawaii, and then flights
to two lakes and mountains are big this year. Colorado

(08:07):
and Rhode Island are up thirty percent over last year,
according to Expedia, and United says about three hundred thousand
more travelers this Memorial Day than last Memorial Day. Triple
A's numbers are records as well that they've they've been
keeping these, they keep score. They've been doing it since
two thousand, so twenty five years. They've never seen numbers
this high, so looks pretty good, but it looks busy

(08:29):
as well.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Orlando. It's because of disney World, right.

Speaker 6 (08:34):
Yeh, Disney World and everything else, Universal and everything else.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Oh yeah, because disney Land is there with that is Yeah,
that's here, California. I have to like hash that out.
That makes sense. How many times have you been to Hawaii?

Speaker 6 (08:48):
Quite a few if you grew up in California. That's
kind of the place everybody goes. I mean in my life,
I don't know, maybe a dozen.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
So your flights from there, since you're originating there and
going there, it's obviously much cheaper, correct.

Speaker 6 (09:01):
Yeah, I mean it's like four and a half hours
I guess coming back because then you're with the wind
five hours going four and a half hours coming back.
And it can be cheap, you know, it depends on
what you get, or can be really expensive if a
lot of people are going.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Yeah, have you been to all the different islands for
the most part, For the.

Speaker 6 (09:17):
Most part, yeah, I think I've been to call them. Yeah,
it's gorgeous, it's pretty amazing.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
I'm so jealous because you should go, Ben, I haven't been.

Speaker 6 (09:25):
You're flying so much. Now use your miles and book
to Hawaii. Southwest goes there.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
I should.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
I should, man, you know what I'm going to all right,
I gotta go. I'm gonna book right, you're going right now.
But yeah, we are on the temperature. I always kind
of like to wrap it up with this, but how
warm are you today in La?

Speaker 5 (09:43):
What are we at? Let me see? Seventy eight right now?

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Man, you got us by twenty degrees. We're sucking right now.
It's awful, awful, awful.

Speaker 6 (09:53):
It's seventy eight perfect degrees. It's not a cloud in
the sky. It's you know, like inside room temperature right now.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Well, enjoy it, man, And.

Speaker 6 (10:02):
You gotta have a wonderful holiday weekend, both of you,
and hopefully you're doing something nice.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
I will, and I'm headed to Vegas in the morning,
so of course you will all turn every weekend. I'll
turn west and wave right northwest from there. All right,
very good, thanks.

Speaker 6 (10:16):
I'll turn something else and wave back to you that way,
all right, goodbye.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Thanks man, see it all right? Also for Memorial Day,
the weekend gas prices.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
And this is the thing that I love when these
facts come out and there's no way around it for them.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
They have to say the things.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
That are available right now and or fact, and even
if it reflects positively on forty seven and this one
does that gas prices for this Memorial Day as opposed
to last Memorial Day fifty cents a gallon less for
this Memorial Day than twenty twenty four. Because I feel like,

(10:57):
by and large, legacy media tries to somehow spin it,
compress it, hide it. You know, if there's some sort
of a headline that reflects positively on this administration, that
would be one that reflects positively on this administration.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
And it's right here in black and white, right in
front of me.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Fifty cents less today than it was in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Pretty crazy, right, yeah? Right.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
As a matter of fact, cheapest prices for gas by
the state, These are the top ten. So it starts with, well,
we'll start with the most expensive. North Carolina is at
two eighty seven a gallon right now. Then you go
Kentucky to eighty five, then Texas it's to seventy seven.
Then you got Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, South Carolina all at

(11:47):
two seventy seven. Then you go to seventy two in Alabama,
then two sixty nine in Louisiana, Mississippi two sixty four.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Those are the cheapest gas prices by state, the top
ten right now. The most expensive gas prices still really
aren't that bad.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Idaho at three twenty seven, Pennsylvania three thirty one, then
you got Arizona three thirty seven, three forty two in Illinois,
then Alaska, then Nevada, then Oregon, then Washington. Hawaii is
at four forty six. California is at four eighty three
right now.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
So yeah, refinery capacity has a lot to do with that.
So some of those states that are low, Louisiana a
lot of refinery capacity.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
Some of those are high.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
So the geography is what you're talkingou.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Just just they have the capability to refine their own gas,
like Idaho. They I'm sure the gas that uses were
fined out of California.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Well, with so many potatoes there, do you think, given
that logic, that vodka's cheaper there.

Speaker 4 (12:50):
Well, you don't make good vodka out of potato.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Not good vodka, but some great, great vodka comes from
winter wheat.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
Oh I didn't know that. I thought like most of
the vodka was no, no, no, see I tells you so.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Grey goose is not gray goose is not good vodka.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
Sorry, well no, I didn't mean that. I think it's I.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Think it's rubbish, butot is an aftertaste to it.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Man, So what's your favorite vodka?

Speaker 3 (13:17):
One guy, Snow Queen from Kazakhstan, I think is the
best vodka.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Snow Queen.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Yeah, and it's got a really cool bottle.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Yeah, it's a snow Queen's on the bottle, but no
after attractive Kazakhstani woman on it. Oh yeah, but no aftertaste,
no smooth, it's fantastic.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
So and that's something like that. You would not use that,
the Kazakhstan vodka. You were just in a drink that.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
Was never use any mixer with vodka unless it was
tonic water.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
So you that's the only way that you'll drink it.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
No, I drink it usually on the rocks or straight
chilled or what about a martini?

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Yeah, same thing?

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Yeah, okay, right, I just.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
Like, look at the vermouth bottle. I don't actually pick
it up and pour in the end.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
That's all it takes. That's right, Just barely look at
it and that's enough. That's all you need. And exactly, yeah,
you can overdo it and it's just like
