Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague is joining us in studio, and hey,
it's great to meet you. Thank you for coming in
and how's things going so far like this holiday season
for you?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Well, thank you, Mark.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
I appreciate being on the show, and I also want
to thank you for not asking me the Travis Kelsey
question right off the bat. God bless you, my friend.
I really appreciate that. It was wondering where that was.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Going to go.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Well, are you one of those people that you know,
when they first started showing Taylor whatever? You know, Travis
would do something Travis over the middle for four yards
first down, and then they cut to her and she's
jumping up and down we you know, in the box
or whatever, and then social media goes crazy? Would they
stop showing Taylor.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Swift this football?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Are you one of those people like or do you
not even really watch football? Or where do you fall
on in that?
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Well, first of all, I'm not a Chiefs fan. You know,
I'm a Browns or a Bengals fan. Right being a
statewide elected official, of course, you love all of your children,
but Travis Kelsey's not one of them.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
So I think I'm in the camp of yeah, who cares, right, Okay,
I'm one hundred percent. I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I'm not didn't get triggered by that. But there are
so many people, I'm sure, as we were talking about
you are on socials and you see all of the
different people who lose their minds every time they would
show her. I'm one of the people.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
I happen to.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Think that she's very good looking. I for whatever reason,
I think she's smoking hot. And Chuck is one of
those people, is like, no way.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
She looks like the guy who played Napoleon Dynamo.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Ah see that is what's his name? I don't know,
but she looks just like him, John John Heater. That's it.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Yeah, once you see this, Robert, once you see what
he's like, the side by say, you'll never be able.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
To unsee it. I'm not buying that. I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
I don't see any resemblance at all between Taylor Swift
and the Napoleon Dynamite guy.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
There, it's uncanny and it's bizarre how somehow that kind
of But then does that.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Make me weird? Am I supposed to be? I am?
I supposed to think John here is a little freak kid.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
See you're looking at it, You're seeing exactly what we're
talking about.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
It's bizarre, isn't it.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
And you know that you put it in my mind,
I'm thinking, maybe you're right to write another hit.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Yeah exactly.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah, So all right, a little bit of like more,
you know, stuff like kind of what you do, take through,
take us through the way that you are grading or
feeling about President Trump during this first year of his
second term. What are you seeing so far besides the
stuff that and real quick, the stuff that I am
(02:49):
not surprised by is it's mainstream media still doing their thing,
still running their mouth, still spewing all this stuff, spinning
everything he does, no matter what it is, something's wrong
with it. He's doing it incorrectly, there's something illegal about it,
There's this, there's that. But what he is doing with
this country? How are you feeling about that right about now?
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Well, I will tell you that I voted for him.
I was one of the first people to endorse him
in his second presidential run in the state of Ohio.
And I believe in President Trump. I did not fully
believe that he would be able to stop all the
border crossings. If I'm being honest and he has done that.
We have had zero border crossings in the last four
(03:31):
months in our southern border, which is absolutely amazing. So
he has done what he has said he was going
to do, which is to stop the illegal immigration into
the United States of America that quite frankly, was driving
up a lot of the prices, the prices for housing,
the prices for food.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Right, all that additional.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Demand and you got supply and demand issues, and you know,
and then the inflation from Joe Biden that's still left
over and still the hangover from the Democrat administration, and
the affordable affordability issue which has now come to the
four And I give Donald Trump a lot of credit.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
I cannot.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
I'll tell you what's really interesting is he gets ten stars,
ten stars out of five for the Mid East Peace Plan.
Unbelievable that he was able to bring peace in the
ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinians. I mean, that's an
unbelievable thing that we would have given Jimmy Carter the
Nobel Peace Price a Knockham Bagan, and I mean, an
(04:29):
absolutely amazing thing that he's done.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
He gets zero credit for it. I really truly believe.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
So he was talking about that and said, yeah, now
the mainstream media wants to go, yeah, you didn't, you
didn't get Ukraine Russia. So he's like, you know, no
matter what, it's never a great job, mister president, fantastic.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
I can't believe you did this.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
There are some people, I guess maybe on the other
side that would have surprised you a little bit, going yeah, okay, yeah,
he's he's doing really well with the Israeli that whole
situation and getting that broker and getting that figured out.
And there was a little bit of that mentioned by
some of the but most of them, especially now, all
they're doing is focusing on, Yeah, he can't get Russia
(05:09):
and Ukraine, like I thought he was going to have
that done before he even took an office, you know
or whatever.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
It's just like that, He's never going.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
To get his due with these people, and there's just
no there's no getting around it. They're just not going
to do that. And I think at this point he
kind of realizes that yesterday we saw the footage and
you know, Bernie Marino standing behind him in the Oval office,
that's gonna be I mean, look to see you're smiling.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
That's like to see that and then to know JD. Vance.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
You know, he's our senator, and then he ends up
plucked by President Trump to be his VP. And it's
just like I was so proud because I was instrumental.
I helped him get elected senator here in Ohio. Say
Jad was on with me probably twenty five times during
you know, the lead up for that and so on.
Congressman Balderson yesterday standing in the Oval office with him yesterday.
(05:59):
I've become very good friends with Troy and also Congressman
Jim Jordan too, who's on every Monday with us, and
just to see like they're all around this whole thing,
this machine that's happening right now. It's very exciting, especially
if you're an Ohio politician.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
It's pretty neat, absolutely, and you know, Ohio's favorite son, JD. Vance,
being Vice President of the United States is something unique
and extraordinary. I think that he is the heir apparent
of the Trump the MAGA movement, and I'm looking forward
to seeing what he does next. And I think our
next Governor, Viveke Ramaswami is absolutely one of those people
(06:36):
who is going to take over the helm of the
MAGA movement. And I think also, and I was just
seeing Viveke the other night in Charlie Kirk's platform. As
a matter of fact, my son who's going at to
Miami University this year, went to go see Veveke last
night at Miami University. And I mean, he is just
an incredibly brilliant, talented leader who I think is going
(06:59):
to bring out Ohio's next chapter and it's going to
be fantastic. So I think all of this is very
good for Ohio politics.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Yeah, yeah, no question about that.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
I just I was looking over trying to find this
thing from The Inquisitor, which is online garbage news. But
as we were talking about the JD. Vans relationship there,
their latest headline that popped up on my feet this
afternoon was that Trump called JD Vance incompetent. And I'm like,
you know, see, this is the next thing. Now we've
got to create an imaginary which that has nothing to
do with Donald Trump and Jdvans. It has everything to
(07:30):
do with public perception. If we print it, if we
put it online, people are going to believe it. They'll
begin putting in on their social media the next thing,
you know, it's considered a legitimate thing. It's not. And
then you've got the story from CNN exactly the right outcome.
Minority Leader Jefferies reacts to Trump pardoning, Well, it was
a Texas Democrat that got a pardon from Donald Trump.
(07:52):
Exactly the right outcome. That's CNN. They are actually making
a peaceful headline between Jeffrey and Trump. You wouldn't expect that.
And well, at the same time, the inquisitors trying to
make you believe that the vice president and the president
are apparently not getting along and Trump thinks he's incompetent.
This next two years is going to be a clown
(08:13):
show when it comes to the manipulation the media coverage,
all the representations out there, and you talk about the
Ohio guys, I'm glad they're in there just because I'm
having some of my fingers. They've got some common sense
that some of these idiots just don't have.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
And you know the other thing too, Chuck, is you
want to talk about you're talking about it's going to
be a clown show man. As we're getting to the
mid terms here, this in twenty six, this is really
going to go to a like six different levels. This
is going to get worse and worse. The spin is
going to get spinnier and spinnier if you will, and
that kind of thing
