Speaker 1 (00:00):
The list you sent me from Rolling Stone, the top
fifty bands? Is that a recent that's like pretty sorry
to put you on the spot like that, but you
sent that. You sent this to me, and I was
like thinking to myself, Okay, is this in the last
couple of weeks or is it? Do you happen to
know right off the top of your head?

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yeah, no, it changes a bit. I think this one.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Was just a guess is fine? I mean I mean
very recent okay, very recent? Good, so by very recent
within the last month, we'll say it, or even more
or even more recent than that, something like that, right, Yes, okay,
I don't know if you. I have very strong feelings
when I start seeing lists like this to the point

(00:46):
where Zach you know, because on the show sheet I
put Rolling Stone's top fifty bands of all time? Is
FT up? I saw your note, except I actually typed
out FT and it was in all caps because I
said to myself, who is the idiot who put this
list together? Now? This is the top fifty bands of

(01:07):
all time, of all time? How do you do that?
And Van Halen is not on this list? How can
that be? Are you freaking kidding me?

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Rush isn't on there either.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Russi is not on this list. Who's Top, Who's Top
Top fifty bands? Hold on, I'll get to that. Slow
down there, Hold on, Skippy, slow down? You know what's
funny as Don's I'm like, how long have we been
doing talk radio? Now for a little while? You don't
just go right to the payoff, don You gotta kind
of work up there anyway. No, So, where I'm going

(01:40):
with this is let me let me throw Van Halen
and Rush are not on this list. Top fifty bands
Best bands of all time? All right, let me give
you some of the names of bands that are on
this list. Arcade Fire okay, the band Okay? Have you

(02:02):
heard of either one of those? It's a no, I
don't know. And Zach you can, by all means jump in,
because I feel like your taste of music is clearly
different than mine. That may be largely due to our
ages partially, and then you, you know, the type of
stuff that you get into your car and turn on
and crank up or is going to be different than mine.

(02:23):
But I when I see this top fifty list and
you have a band like Metallica on this list at
number twenty five. Let me point out some of the
bands ahead of them on this top fifty list. Oasis,
Are you kidding me? Really? Oasis is ahead of Metallica,
had one hit? Wonder well? I mean they've got a

(02:45):
couple of hits. But what the Smiths are ahead of Metallica?
Never heard reallyre Em at number twenty five. Metallica fine,
and they can be smack dab in the middle of
this list. But when you're putting radio Head ahead of Metallica,

(03:06):
get the you know what out of here with that.
The Velvet Underground, they're in the number, they're in top ten.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
They're awful.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
What is happening here? All right? At number one, I'll
get to that now. The Beatles, I'm fine with that.
Let's see, I've heard of them. Yeah, okay, I'm fine
with the Beatles being right there at one. Interesting at
number two of the Rolling Stones, okay, absolutely at number three.
I personally hate this band. You two sucks. I'm saying it.

(03:41):
I don't care they suck. I hate Bono, I hate
everything he stands for. He is a he's a pretentious
a hole.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
The Glasses bother me too.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
I just that guy's full of it. He takes himself
way too serious. It's like, knock it off, Bono, you're
lead singer of a rock band. Knock it off, Bunny
with all of that. At number four, Pink Floyd, okay, fine,
I'm okay with that. At number five led Zeppelin, I
feel like largely in that top five they got it right,
except for you two. I don't and that's my own

(04:19):
personal I.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Don't think led Zeppelin should be a top five ooh.
I think they're a cover band who stole most of
their music and they cannot make a record without the blues.
That's why the Beatles are superior, even though I'm not
a big Beatles. Beatles didn't need to blues.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
To make songs. Yeah, Zeppelin can't do it. Yeah. Interesting,
Interesting that that's your take on led Zeppelin. Will agree
to disagree again. You do should not be at three.
I think Floyd and Zeppelin easily should be ahead of
you two, and as well as the Who, which is
at number six, they should be ahead of you two.
And then we're going, how did Radiohead make it to

(04:56):
the seventh best band in history? You kidding? Many songs
you have? I don't even know any what this is stupid.
Nirvana's at number eight. I love Nirvana.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
They shouldn't be in top ten though.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
As far as top ten, and we're talking bands of
all time, you know Nirvana belongs in the top fifty.
Sure somewhere.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
They only played ones that grunge music. They only make
three albums.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Right, yeah, yep. And then you got The Doors right there. Okay,
I'll go with you. They're at number ten. They should
be there. As far as the Clash, I that was
the first concert I went. The Clash sucks. I hate
the I hate the CLA one. I hate the Clash.
But they're at number eleven. Then you got the Birds
okay at twelve. I'll take that, Okay, I'm fine with that.

(05:40):
But Oasis at thirteen, No, Beach Boys at fourteen, okay,
the Smiths at fifteen. No the Police right there at sixteen.
That happens to be one of my favorite bands. Okay,
so I'm partial there. But on this list, when you
don't have Van Halen, and you don't have Rush in
the top fifty, yet you've got some of the He's
b Wilco at number six twenty six. Who the hell

(06:03):
is that? Who made the list? And what were the Parameters.
That's what I'm curious. Enemies on Public Enemy at forty four?
How did they make it? And Van Halen didn't? Eddie's
rolling over in his grave? Are you kidding me? Interesting?
The Ramones? I hate the Ramone, I hate Primal Scream,
I hate Sonic Youth. I can rit. I guess I'm
going to recognize sex pistols. That's fine. I don't really

(06:26):
like them, but I get that, you know, they have
some sort of an influence on stuff. Black Sabbath is
all the way at thirty nine? Oh yeah, are you
kidding me? Ac DC's at thirty seven? How can that be?
I mean, come on, CSN and Y. I don't even
know who that is. They're they're ahead of ac DC
in Sabbath after Steels, Nash and Young. Oh whoops, I

(06:48):
feel stupid now, but okay, I kind of okay, I
get that all right, So whoops. They didn't write that
all out. But thank you for helping me with that,
because I was like going, what I didn't put it
into Google to try to figure out whose initials are you?
Sly Stone is ahead of ACDs. Arcade Fire Genesis is
a really good band, but they're all the way at
thirty two. Yeah, CCR is in there, Cream is in there,

(07:12):
but they're all the way down the list at forty six.
Forty seven Almond Brothers, but how is Public Enemy ahead
of Almond Brothers, Cream and CCR and Renoft, Chili Peppers
and Dire Straits for that.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Matter, is all the way at twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Yeah, Pearl jam is at twenty seven. I just I
this is here's what I think. That's the list. That's
as far as I'm concerned. But he's still very he's
still very thankful. Stupidest list ever in the history of
list
