(00:00):
Mine. He is the owner EventRisk Security Services. Eric Rose is joining
us now, and Eric, howare you brother? Doing great? Doing
great? Great to catch up andtalk to here. Yeah, man,
thank you very much for jumping onwith us. So you are, you're
basically you're running security for the RepublicanNational Convention and uh, gosh, man,

(00:24):
where do I start with this?Holy cow, last I spoke to
you, It's been a little while, but uh man, your trajectory since
we last spoke from here, youknow, being here in local law enforcement
in this area to now running securityfor the Republican National Convention and owner of
Event Risk Security Services, And gosh, man, where do we start with

(00:45):
this? First of all? Actually, I think we'll start with Saturday for
the attempted assassination of President Trump. You had people in Butler County at the
rally. Correct. Correct, Yeah, we were not in charge of the
venue, but we did have aprotection on a media component that was there.
Yeah, So take us through whatyou learned from your guys there,

(01:11):
And there's so much. I feellike, there's so much about what happened
on Saturday that maybe you know, depending on how much digging the person that's
listening right now, has done orhow much they've watched or seen. There's
a lot of stuff kind of ifyou will, behind the scenes that I
feel like is incredibly pertinent to thiswhole situation. One being how local law

(01:34):
enforcement was involved Saturday in Butler Countybecause here locally, to tie that together,
you were involved in, you know, way back in being local law
enforcement when presidents came to town, weren't you. Yeah, yeah, actually
so. Rickenbacker Airport is typically thelanding hub for Air Force One. So

(01:56):
again back in the day, MadisonTownship, any cotas detail that came through
because I was in the canine group, but I was tasked to So the
interesting thing about that that correlates withSaturday is that you know, all these
agencies, So let's just let's breakit down to central Ohio. You have
Madison Township Police Department, Columbus PoliceDepartment, Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Ohio

(02:17):
State Higher Patrol, Secret Service, and any of the other federal agencies.
Sometimes the Marshall's Office jumps in there, but we are all on different communication
channels and they do their best tomake a common channel where you know,
we can talk to CPD and viceversa. But the issue in the lag

(02:38):
time is that the direct connect withSecret Service is usually where there's a gap,
and it looks like Saturday, thatis very likely what occurred there as
well. The sources that I gotof what occurred is that the local law
enforcement, which was a township officerthere at Butler Township, had actually can

(03:00):
front of the suspect on the rooftop, had no means to get fully up
onto the roof, so he wasstaying on the shoulders of another officer.
And this whole time that communication routegoes through their dispatch then to the point
of contact with Secret Service, andthe Secret Service to the field. If
that makes sense. Yeah, Andas a result, it's interesting that you

(03:23):
point that out with regard to it'sbeing reported that a local law enforcement officer
did end up realizing that the shooterwas on the roof of said building and
began to investigate that situation, buthad a gun put in his face.

(03:44):
Is that what you're hearing as well? And then at that point he was
trying to I mean, did heyou mentioned he was on another officer shoulders.
They didn't have the ability to geton the roof of this building.
Via a ladder or what have you. From what I understand, the shooter
used HVAC somehow to climb up ontop. Correct. Yeah, so they

(04:04):
mounted and again they were getting reportsfrom from ongoers that also saw the shooter
on top of the building. Theofficers, from my understanding, again did
the old school get on my shoulders, peek up there, see what's going
on. The officer was head level, verbally engaged the suspect and then turn
and pointed to ar at the officer, who obviously took cover as a reflex.

(04:28):
Then that suspect turned around and firedoff the shots. So are you
hearing We're talking to Eric Rose, who is running security at the Republican National
Convention, owner of Event Risk SecurityServices. Are you hearing that right now
that local police they were responsible forthe building where the shooter fired from.
They're reporting that the things that wekind of just talked about that they that

(04:55):
is being reported and that they saidthey it was. Let see, I'm
trying to I've got so much informationin front of me that yeah, they
were responsible for that building. Butyou know, you and I talked about
the length what was it of onehundred and thirty yards roughly is where this

(05:15):
rooftop was from the event with astraight line like the line of sight right
to President Trump while he was speaking. I mean, none of this is
making sense. Do you have athought, based on your years and years
and years being in the security andlaw enforcement world, do you have any
thoughts on what could have possibly happenedhere? Clearly it was either a breakdown,

(05:39):
it's some sort of inside thing thathappened. I mean, gosh,
I guess the sky's the limit onwhat could have happened here. There was
a colossal breakdown of some sort.Yeah. Absolutely, So at the end
of the day, the US SecretService has total control and command over that
area, right, and so thefield office, likely out of Pittsburgh would
have conducted in it advance at leasta week at a time where they go

(06:03):
through and survey the area. Now, the reality is this that the Secret
Service detail that's assigned the President Trumpis not the typical package. And what
I mean by that is when you'reno longer an active president, your detailed
package changes significantly. The support thatyou have, the staffing that you have,
even the vehicle motorcade that you have. So what it likely occurred is

(06:27):
that those position or choke points thatwere identified in the advance, hopefully if
the advance was conducted, those wereassigned to various local agencies. Again,
a myriad of different agencies were there. Now whether they specifically were tasked with
posting on that building or not isunknown. But the Secret Service, again,

(06:48):
you know, they have a veryconfident drone program that is used for
reconnaissance and counter surveillance, and that'stypically included in those packages that potus and
even former would have for an outdoorspeaking engagement. And then two, at
the end of the day, youhave Secret Service and elevated positions that are

(07:09):
you know, those those overwatch positionsthat are supposed to be surveying all that.
So there definitely is probably a dropsomewhere in the chain at the end
of the day, though all fingersare going to point to Secret Service.
So once Saturday happened, the attemptedassassination of President Trump, once that happened,
and you being you know, runningsecurity there, owner of event Risk

(07:30):
Security Services there at a Republican Nationalconvention, once this all happened, I
bet your protocol changed or or didit for Saturday for you know, what's
happening this week in Milwaukee. Yeah. Yeah, so I didn't get much
sleep from Saturday and through Sunday,I bet. But without getting specific into
numbers, I can tell you thatour our support UH was doubled, and

(07:58):
so what that means is, youknow, we had to fly in folks
from other states and cities for support. You have to then circumvent to go
direct with Secret Service tour ay credentialquite a long process, but I can
tell you this that and even today, you know, it's dramatically different than

(08:18):
what we were looking at Friday whenwe were there and doing the load in
and things like that, to wherethe access points are different. The credentialing
has changed. People that could getinto certain areas can no longer do so,
and so they're taking it very serious, very confident, and very impressed
honestly with the Secret Services on theground here in Milwaukee. Eric Rose,

(08:43):
running security for the Republican National Conventionthere in Milwaukee, owner of Event Risk
Security Services. Eric, it's greatto hear hear your voice and catch up
with you man and on behalf ofeverybody who is at the Republican National Convention.
Thank you for your hard work, your team's hard work and continued success
to you. I'm incredibly proud tocall you my friend and to see how

(09:05):
well you're doing it. It's amazing. Thank you so much. Yeah,
I appreciate it much. Love,Clumbus
