Speaker 1 (00:00):
Show.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
All right, here we go, Happy Friday.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Oh yeah, welcome in, Thank you for listening. He is
the radio voice of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Bob mcgalligan
will be in studio here momentarily. He's he's doing really
important stuff, which is why he's not in here yet.
Oh wait, it was hitting golf balls inside the horseshoe
and I think that was from today. Maga McCoy is
joining me in studio as well. I showed you the
(00:37):
video a second ago, and I don't know. I mean
his form looked Okay. He sent me a video, a
little quick clip of him hitting golf balls in there.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Do you know what that whole thing is about.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
Yeah, it's a upper deck golf in partnership with five
Hour Energy.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Oh geez, you know everything about it?
Speaker 5 (00:58):
Okay, yeah, because five hour Energy.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
He was just here dropped off a bunch of samples
if you want to try one, because they can make
you talk real quick when we get through the show
and hurry, uh.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Oh are you did you have any before we just now?
Speaker 6 (01:09):
Maybe you're like, maybe why you do have the deer
in the headlights thing.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
Going like new flavor called transfusion for golfers.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Oh boy, is it really?
Speaker 6 (01:23):
It's like design for well, you've heard of the vodka transfusion, right, yes, yes, yes,
the same type of thing. It's uh, without the vodka, correct,
but lots of caffeine, right, and well I see lots
of caffine.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
It's about the same as like a you know, Grande Starbucks. Okay,
two and thirty milligram. I think, yeah, so you don't
want to have more than two in a day.
Speaker 6 (01:45):
Wait wait would you two hundred and thirty milligram in
one of those?
Speaker 5 (01:50):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Yeah, so the so Chuck turned me on to And
Chuck's off today. I think he said he may be by.
He had something going and if it wrapped up, he
was gonna come by.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
Just FYI in casey, Yeah, I'm in his seat, so well,
yeah he can.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
But anyway, he turned me onto these.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
They're Gatorade Fast Twitch and it's two hundred milligrams of
caffeine and I thought those were pretty good.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
And Chuck's like, you got to kind of shoot these when.
Speaker 6 (02:21):
You and it's what twelve ounces, eight nine ten ounce
or something, so it's like an actual drink, is my point.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
And he's like, yeah, you need to just pound him.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
I'm like, I don't know if that's good. Yeah, I said, well, no,
I'm gonna probably sip on it.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
For a little bit, you know, because I've already had
a bunch of coffee already today earlier too.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
You got to regulate yourself a little bit.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Yeah, but those being that, I will definitely not not today,
but I will will try this.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
As a matter of fact, I let her in today the.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
Gal Oh okay.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Yeah, she was up by the front when I came in,
and I said, who are you here to see? And
she said McCoy And I go, oh, well he's a
pretty good guy. I'll let you in there. And so
I bring her in, and so I didn't know who
she's with, but that makes sense then.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
So she was Andrea from Five Hour Energy. She's from Dallas.
He is here just for the weekend for this, and
then I think they had someplace else.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Man. Yeah, I'll definitely I might take like a couple.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
Of those off in a bunch in my office. But
you can take a bunch because I will.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
I will. I'm definitely gonna do that. Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
So last night, Buckey's taken in the first round of
the draft, we had four of them, and I uh,
I was surprised that Traveon Henderson didn't go in first round.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
In the first round, well, most of the projections I saw,
I had him in the second.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
I've seen some really crazy ones, but a Meco Buca
was pretty much the consensus first Buckeye to be taken.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
Yeah, and that ended up to be true. What a
number nineteen.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Right, yeah? By the Bucks Buccaneers.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
What's also interesting was there were three U of M
people guys taken before I believe, no, at least two. No,
there was a I believe a third, and it made
that Yeah, you're right. Maybe the third was right after.
I don't have them right in front of me, but
I just kept thinking like, wow, look at them, well, wow,
look at them.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Another one for U of M.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
And then whoa another one and so a Mecca being
taken nineteenth overall pretty good. I you know, I halfway
follow the draft and halfway know what you know? Kind
of do they where does the signing bonus drop off?
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Roughly?
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Do you know?
Speaker 5 (04:33):
That's a great question.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
I think like fifth or sixth, Well, I would think
that there's there's probably a top ten.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
Okay, I really don't know.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
I'm speaking so we could spit ball. Yeah, I mean I.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Would think if you're in the first round, you're gonna
be okay. I mean, you're probably going to get a
signing bonus wherever you're drafted, just depending on where you are,
how much it is.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
The big big ones are like top five, right, bigger
sense to me? Yeah, yeah, and again I'm just guessing
on that. But you know, you think about those guys
coming down the hallway. Can you imagine were you watching
any of it?
Speaker 4 (05:04):
I didn't watch any of it the athletic and kind
of followed along there.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
Yeah, that's about it.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Yeah, I had it on and we were watching. We
literally watched the first couple of hours, and then I
ended up in bed before the Steelers chose. And then uh,
once that happened, you know, Derek Harmon out of Oregon
defensive tackle.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
I like it. I was hoping that kind of.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Secretly that we would because they started speculating on Jackson Dart.
I'm like, I'm like Will Howard, but Will's not projected
to go for well.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
They're saying pretty lately even the third, fourth, maybe even
the fifth round, right, Tom Brady was a sixth round pick.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Yeah, I mean he is the unicorn. Let's say it.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Well it is.
Speaker 6 (05:49):
Yeah, So I like the comparison in that there's it's
not like they go late and they have no chance.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
So I know about all that quite Frankly.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Will demonstrated to me this year, and I'm sure you
kind of and we talk about this kind of stuff
all the time, so I think you're kind of in
the same camp as I am, or the same line
of thought. Is he demonstrated to me after losing to
Michigan in such terrible fact, I mean, what an embarrassment
it was being a Buckeye fan watching that.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
You're like, what happened? Where is this?
Speaker 3 (06:18):
What is going? And then Tennessee is like and then
they just went They just rolled man. And so that's
a guy who picked himself up by the bootstraps. And look,
one man's not a teammate. I get all of that,
but everyone bought in and Will has the goods.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
I really feel like.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
And you know, another good point brought up to me
just a little bit ago by Ogre. He says to me,
he go, and he's a Steeler fan like you and
I and he says I said, man, I would love
to have you know, Will went and he's like, yep, yep,
I mean no question. I go, I know you're you're
he's a Michigan fan and all that, like you know,
ogre and he goes, no, no. I actually thought it
would have been a good idea. But the great point
(06:55):
that he brought up was he's used to throwing to
really good receivers, and we have some of those in Pittsburgh,
so that that almost like if he learned, and he
seems like a pretty cerebral guy, so he would be
a guy that I feel like would just step right in.
He could learn the system pretty quickly. Relative and I
know Tomlin was in town looking at him, watching him
(07:16):
work out.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
I think it would be a great pick. I really do.
By the way, Bob and Gelligate just to text me
he's at the back door.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Oh okay, is that right? Oh well yeah, actually we
could send Zach to go get him. Oh you can
do that, yeah yeah, because he we we don't have
to go to break for a few minutes.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
Oh okay, Zach attack and Zack he's at the back door.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Thanks man. Yeah, that's uh, yeah, I know I heard
Bob is that kind of a guy. He likes that door.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
But so yeah, yeah, I love how they they group
in there, like Howard joint talking about you know, Will,
they said he joins Shader Sanders and uh Jalen Monroe
and Tyler so they they they group and then with
those as the top available quarterbacks remaining on the board.
(08:00):
I don't know, man, I Sanders could be I don't
know what to think of him.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
I think that he's a competitor. I think he's definitely
athletic and gifted.
Speaker 6 (08:12):
Doesn't have the strongest arm, boy.
Speaker 5 (08:16):
I don't know, that's a really good question.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
I just I like Will Howard because he's almost like
he's almost like Josh Allen to me.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Makes yeah, I mean, boy, what a great comparison.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
If your Will, I you mean like stature, stature, He's.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
Got the ability to run.
Speaker 6 (08:38):
He may not have as big an arm as Josh Allen,
but he doesn't have his arms not weak.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Oh no, no, he's I feel like he's got the
good It's no question about that. The other thing with
regard to Shader Sanders, you know he's taken a beating
on socials. I know you're on social media all the time.
He is getting beat up pretty good. Good Skip Bayless
was one of the ones who's been running his trap
(09:04):
and you know, and I'm like, what how much did
did Dion pay you? You know, because that's what it
feels like to me, And you're going, I don't know
how to feel I'm laughing my ass off. I'll just
say it. Because the fact that he got left out,
he had a custom made draft room for himself or
somebody made it, and you know, legendaries everywhere, and you
(09:26):
know the fact that they retired his number already in Colorado.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
Yeah what?
Speaker 3 (09:32):
And then today some of the brutal stuff was people
put above the two on the.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Jersey day day two.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
So I mean it was pretty brutal, Like they were
being pretty brutal.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
I don't know, man, this this guy.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
You know, he has a speech and he says the
right stuff in the speech, but shame on his dad
for not really telling him exactly how this is going
to go in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Think about this.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
You got a guy who is dad who he is,
he's prime time, he's all these things, and then he's
gonna come into the league and whatever team he's gonna
be all the people that are there gonna go, look
at this guy.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
You got to earn your place just like everyone else.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
And they might God, geez, here he comes, you know,
kind of a thing.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
I feel like he should have been way more humble
than he was.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
And then when he's doing his speech or like doing
his little and Zach, hopefully you have that up and
ready to go, he's at the end, he's like legendary.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
I mean, he says that at the end of it.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
I'm like, dude, you you had a custom made draft
room and you're still on day two and you're still
you do that stuff in private, maybe you stare at
it while you're working out legendary, you know, and what
you don't run that up the flagpole when you're not legendary.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
I feel like, you know, I mean.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
That doesn't necessarily run in their family though they.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
They're not humble, are they? Yeah, you know, they're really not.
Here's his uh, here's the uh. It's a quick little
thing he said at the end where that he's surprised
clearly that you know, he didn't get taken on day one.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
We all didn't expect this, of course, but I feel
like with God, anything possible everything possible. I don't feel
like this happened, you know, for no reason. All this is,
of course fields to the fire and under no circumstances.
We all know this going to happen, but we we
understand we own the bigger and better things. Tomorrow's the
(11:26):
day we're gonna be happy to regardless.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
That's that's there.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Yeah, you just said legendary at the end. What that
all thirty two teams saw Diva? I think it's the
only way that I can kind of quantify this. Bob
mcgallaghan is joining us here at studio. I don't know
how much you've been paying attention to any of that
between zero to him.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
The golfing that you didn't care.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Why do we care?
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Why do we care? Ye, it's a story.
Speaker 5 (11:51):
It's a bad story.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
It's a storyline. We listen. It is not a nothing
story store Now I disagree.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
One because he stoy no, no, no, it was already
a story. I'm focusing, I'm turning a light on doing
it because it's a joke and it's funny.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Yes it is. He is a joke about it.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
The funny part is how he was supposed to go
number one and primetime his dad and all of this,
and it's like, that's funny to me.
Speaker 6 (12:17):
I worked with his dad for six weeks and it
was nothing like he is on TV.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Okay, I don't know about all the.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
Shocked.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
If you went across America and ask you know, a
million people, anybody that's never been around the guy, what
would they say based on what they've witnessed, what they've
witnessed in the prime.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
Ask you about all the things you see on TV
once the show Huh, the whole thing is a TV show.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
No, But I'm just saying the way that this has
played out.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
When you have a when you have a room made
and it says legendary and all of this stuff. This
is a guy who's not humble man, and and don't
you think you ought to be?
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Do you think that would work in the NHL? You
can come in and just be some.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
It will eventually if you're a bread Did Fantilly come.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
In that way?
Speaker 5 (13:05):
I said it will eventually.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
Fantilly did not come in that way?
Speaker 5 (13:09):
You know what I said?
Speaker 2 (13:10):
No, But I' pointing out now.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
It'll be just like that.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Well we're talking about today. What's thirty years have to do?
Speaker 5 (13:16):
Just saying football and baseball are already there. What do
you mean this with the athlete?
Speaker 2 (13:21):
I don't understand, Like, what do you mean a.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
Really different athletes? You can't even make a comparison. It's
apples and oranges. Well, there is a comparison because it's
pro athletes.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
It's pro.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
No, it's not it. There's no comparisons.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Well as far as what the demand is that culture is, well, yeah,
I don't.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
All I know is this is a story. Whether you
want to recognize it as a story or not. I
just I don't care. Okay, well, great, you don't care.
Speaker 6 (13:46):
I'm just saying it to me. I'm around athletes all
the time. This is this is nothing. This is drummed
up by many non sports people and many sports people
that want something that happened.
Speaker 5 (13:57):
That didn't happen. So like, to me, it's here's.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
The way I look at it with these things, I
think just because this is the time of year when
you know, obviously we have the the NFL Draft, so
there are gonna be stories that come out of the
NFL Draft, and people will you know, this is definitely
a story in that regard, in that people kind of
set this up to be, oh well, will should her
Sanders go in the first round with going the second,
(14:22):
blah blah blah, whatever it is. So you know for
a couple of days that that's a story. The question
really will be And he is gonna he's gonna get
picked by who's gonna get picked by?
Speaker 5 (14:32):
What happens then? And that's that's in his control, you
know how well he does? You know?
Speaker 4 (14:38):
And that and that's really going to tell the story
in the long run, because to Bob's point, what's happening
right now is probably not even going.
Speaker 5 (14:45):
To be remembered. Oh, it's going to be remembered.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Well, I think it won't be unless he goes in
and sets the league on fire.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
Well two things.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
That's the only way it becomes a memory or not
even a memory.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
Well, I think there's one way. One way it doesn't.
There are two ways it doesn't become a memory. One is,
like you just said, he doesn't that's the league on
fire too. He goes in and he's an afterthought at
this time next year. Either way, he's gone from the
memory banks. The news cycle just moves so fast.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
I just I the fact that he retired his number,
Well that's a Colorado. What is that that's a jackass
move and his dad's behind it?
Speaker 2 (15:20):
What is that?
Speaker 6 (15:21):
Well, Colorado retired his number, Yes, number two is retired.
Speaker 5 (15:26):
I mean outside of Eric the Enemy, who else came
from Colorado?
Speaker 3 (15:30):
I just don't understand it at all. I'm like, that's
just the jackass.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
How many things does Colorado have to hang a hand on.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
I as far as all that goes, it's all college career.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
It doesn't matter about a career Colorado not were you're
retiring a number?
Speaker 5 (15:44):
Oh, what's your qualifications?
Speaker 4 (15:47):
Well more than that, marijuana has been legal there for
a while, exactly.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
I just I have nothing against Dion. All I'm saying
is shame on him. Shame on him for I would
not have guessed that. I don't even I know him
for nobody. I'm just saying he should have shame on
him for not guiding his son better.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
I mean, this is stupid.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
You know your old man should be teaching you, especially
since he's walked in.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Those Can I just see somebody real quick. I would
have paid money to be here today to watch this. Well,
but I'm here for free, so this is fantastic.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
That's it.
Speaker 7 (16:27):
There, Weather Sports and the Mark Blazer show a six
ten WTVN.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
All right, so we found out it is not a
rain out.
Speaker 6 (16:42):
Actually today Chief Meteorologist Marshall McPeak is joining us, and
so Marshall, the rain that we're getting now, well not
right this second, but we have stuff moving in.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
But that's not going to make it a rain out
for the weekend either.
Speaker 8 (16:55):
No, I think your weekend forecast is actually improving a
whole lot. But it is a mess out there right now.
Ontown Columbus getting some pretty heavy rain. More of that
out near the airport, out into Gehanna, up into Westerville, Dublin, Powell,
drum Township, Ostrander, Delaware, Radnor, Waldo, everybody getting all of
this heavy rain. Marysville's got a downpour right now, Bell
Fountain and West Liberty. So if you're headed north on
(17:17):
twenty three, three fifteen or across the northern Outer Belt,
you're gonna find some pretty wet conditions. Southside looking okay
at the moment, but you're in line for more later on.
So showers and thunderstorms for a lot of the night
tonight fifty three for the eventual low, but the rain
will taper off before sunrise and it looks much better
for the Capsidy Half Marathon tomorrow morning. The runners are
(17:38):
probably still gonna have some puddles to contend with, but
it shouldn't be actively raining during the actual race. Temperatures
at racetime in the mid fifties, and then we'll climb
to sixty one in the afternoon Sunday sunshine and sixty eight.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
All right, marshall, thank you at seventy one right now.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Radio Voice for the Columbus Blue Jackets mcguelegan in studio,
also magat McCoy in here. So with the playoffs right now,
let's start with you, Maga. Yes, with regard to the playoffs,
anybody surprising you right now? Or or like conversely, are
you seeing the people that you thought the teams that
(18:19):
you thought.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Would be doing what they're doing doing. That's a great question.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
I haven't watched a lot of the West Coast games
because they start so late. I'm a little surprised that
Edmonton is where they are right now, although not totally surprised.
Let me just say that because there was definitely some
there were some issues heading into the playoffs for them,
and I do love to watch Connor McDavid play so
I'll be a little a little sad when they are
(18:44):
out of the playoffs because I just don't expect him,
playing the way they play now, to stick around very long.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
He's kind of good. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
Now the other side of that, the team that never
seems to play well. But I look at and I say,
these guys could really make a run, know Toronto could.
It could be a year for them. They look exceptional
right now. Did you see the pass from Mitch Marner
to uh Austin Matthews yesterday on that goal?
Speaker 5 (19:13):
Unreal?
Speaker 4 (19:14):
I want him, I want him badge, But I know,
I know it's it's it's a that's stupid, but still
it's not stupid.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
Just probably won't.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
Probably won't happened. Hey, offense is not our problem. Minnesota
is my surprise. Yeah, playing against Vegas. They've got the
lead in that series. Te yep, Yeah, they and they're
at home.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
So they won one on the road, which you always
you know, they say that you're not in trouble till
you lose at home. So Vegas loses one at home
and now Minnesota wins their first home game. They got
another one tomorrow, so they could uh, they could put
a get that in control there.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
Minnesota is tough to play against. Yeah, they're just they're
I hate them. I just I just I just tat
the whole state of hockey thing. You know.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
It's like we like we're better at it than anybody else.
I'm like, no, you're not. So I'm wearing anyway, we're
road hoodie right now. But see, here's the thing. As
much as I I don't like anything about Minnesota, I do.
Bill Garrin's a GM and he's awesome. He's a great guy.
Chris Keller, Heer's assistant GM. I know him. He's a
great guy. That makes it tough for men. You'd say,
(20:27):
or just or he was. Deon was more religious than
No Dion was. I was gonna say, I'm like, whoa,
that's tough. Anyway, when I was with Dion, he was
sent to save three people. He told me, no, Okay.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
I never figured out if I was on the list
or not. But anyway, did it work? If you were,
then you're probably weren't. Yeah, it didn't work.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
It didn't work.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
All I know is all I know is I'm sure
he wasn't playing baseball just because and I'm sure he
didn't leave in because he was going to lose a
couple of million bucks if he didn't show up at
Redskins training camp.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
I'm sure that's not. No, those two things.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Not Money's not important to that family. Not's. To get
something straight here.
Speaker 6 (21:12):
Dude, it would be important to me too when we're
talking that kind of money. I will tell you the
one thing ever, not ten bucks.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
It's tunny.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
I remember about Dion being a Yankee fan growing up
and I'm state New York when he was playing for
the Yankees, and the Yankees for the first team to
take a shot on him in baseball, he played against
Bo Jackson and it was Kansas City at the Yankees
and Dion hit an inside the park home run in
that game, and Bo was the guy who dove for
the ball and missed it, and then Dion was I
(21:42):
just Phil Rizuto's call at that point was was look
at him.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Go hey, I want to ask you back to the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
So, now that the Caps are going to Montreal, is
it a little and not that it's been easy for them,
because it has it, but it does do.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
Things even up a little more?
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Or does Montreal continue to not or to beat what
kind of we kind of thought they were because they
barely eked in there at the end.
Speaker 6 (22:10):
Well, it depends because and I say that, because if
Montreal plays well and the crowd is behind them, they'll
be fine. If their crowd turns against them, which they
do quite often, then it becomes a much bigger challenge
for them.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Let me ask you this those there's a lot of
chatter on social media about the hits, like especially the
one to Lane Hudson, the cross check to the face,
and how three of those have not been called in
this series?
Speaker 5 (22:37):
Have you seen those at all? Have you? Have you?
I barely watched that series. Okay, yeah, just I've seen
it on social media. I've watched it. I can't watch
it because I shouldn't be here.
Speaker 6 (22:46):
To go correct, correct, I think, And I will tell
you this, had the Blue Jackets made it in, they
would have presented a bigger challenge to the Washington Capitals
at this juncture on well they dedmonstrated that though well yeah,
those two games at the end one Sunday game, Well
so why because Ovechka wasn't there or what like?
Speaker 5 (23:08):
What wasn't there?
Speaker 6 (23:10):
Clearly he wasn't the only one that wasn't there, and
it was I mean, they they mailed that one in.
Speaker 5 (23:15):
But the Sunday game they tried.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Yes, they try, is what you're saying.
Speaker 5 (23:20):
Yes, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
Yeah, And then it was demonstrated that even though they
tried there, they came up short on whole ice.
Speaker 5 (23:29):
Not just by one either, Yeah, not just by one.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
Well that's where.
Speaker 6 (23:32):
So that's where like I'm looking at this, watching this
whole thing play out, and just going off of that.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Because those were the two games when we got down
to the final few for the Jackets for me, and
don't get me wrong, it was every unfortunately, every game.
Speaker 6 (23:47):
Leading up to those two, but those are the two.
In my mind, I go, these are probably going to
be the ones that go, You're done. We went to
Washington for the Sunday game. Yeah, I was like, this
has been great. I'm not surprised if it's over today.
And then the way that went then, I was like
a time out, Philly's next. They suck, right, and then
all you got to do is get a little bit
(24:08):
of help and then you should be able to beat
the Islanders too at the end.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
And they didn't get the help at the end.
Speaker 6 (24:12):
I know, but I just think I'm look and Montreal
is going in the right direction with what they're doing
and all that stuff. I just think the Blue Jackets
would have been a better adversary for the Capitals in
the first draft.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
That kid, damn it of is going to be the
real deal. He's special.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Pretty a voice for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Bob mcgawagan
in studio, Maga McCoy hanging with me today. Chuck is
off so every day, so where what do you?
Speaker 5 (24:49):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (24:50):
I know you're going to be doing some you do
stuff with the Clippers in the off season for the Jackets,
and then other than that, are you gonna work on
your golf game?
Speaker 2 (25:00):
I know you were today.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
I did today.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
It was not what is that?
Speaker 5 (25:04):
Wasn't real?
Speaker 3 (25:05):
You have to talk about that because it's at the
shoe yep, So like what is it?
Speaker 2 (25:10):
You go there and do you hit from different areas?
Speaker 6 (25:13):
Yes, you go there and you hit from the upper
deck of the stadium and yeah, you start. There's nine holes,
you get two balls per hole, and all the greens
if you will, are set up on the field. There's
nine different flags, different colors. So when you go to
each area, it'll tell you you're shooting at the dark blue
(25:34):
flag on this hole.
Speaker 5 (25:35):
That's where you're trying to go.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
So there's kind of a green, then there's another inner circle.
So if you're on the green, if you miss it
all together, it's a four. If you put it on
the green, it's the three. If you put it in
the circle, it's a birdie, and it's a two, and
then you can roll it in for a hole in one.
But yeah, so you go. You start in the starting
what would be the northwest corner, I guess, and then
you go around over on the other side, which will
(25:59):
be the visitors side.
Speaker 5 (26:00):
There. You hit three holes off of there, and then
you go over in the student section and hit a
couple and then you come back onto the home side
there and hit the rest of them. So what are
you hitting?
Speaker 6 (26:09):
Are you h you're hitting the most I think the
longest one is one hundred and twelve yards, so.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
You're hitting like sand wedge or pitching wedge.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
But you're so high, you know, it's like a seventy
yard shot. Yeah, and the wind is howling out there,
so you can't control that. And then the worst part
is even if you do hit something that looks like
it's going to be good.
Speaker 5 (26:28):
Yeah. It hits the turf and then it just runs.
Speaker 6 (26:30):
So I mean it if you're off by the slightest,
you just miss or it can roll off all that stuff.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Do you by the way, do you want pass this?
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Oh to do that?
Speaker 5 (26:39):
You should?
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Oh my god, I got right here. Yes you should.
I'd love it.
Speaker 5 (26:44):
Man, let me let me, I'd love it. I'll shoot
him a text. No, it's cool right because my son
volunteered and then today we went and played.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
So I'm in.
Speaker 5 (26:52):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
I would love to do that.
Speaker 5 (26:55):
Four. So what's that they offered us? Four?
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (26:58):
Yeah, so you should definitely go do it. I mean
it's it's different. It's you know, you gotta walk, you
climb a lot of stairs.
Speaker 5 (27:05):
I'll tell you that.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Yeah, I'm good.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
Yeah, I'm out.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Why because of that?
Speaker 4 (27:11):
No, my daughter is actually doing the musical at Buckeye
Valley this weekend.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
So it's this week you have to do it this weekend.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
It's Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Oh can I do something?
Speaker 6 (27:23):
Well?
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Wait, I was thinking it was.
Speaker 6 (27:25):
I was thinking it was kind of like you can
just whenever they're gonna do Yeah, man.
Speaker 5 (27:30):
I can't.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
I got baseball stuff.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
It's tomorrow. It's tomorrow hour to get through there. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Yeah, but it's too late to notice. Are you guys? Wait,
you guys both are married.
Speaker 5 (27:42):
Yeah. I just got to be in control, dude.
Speaker 6 (27:46):
Come on, man, how many times have I been to Vegas?
Speaker 5 (27:49):
I am not saying a word.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Boom your ass. How many times have I been to Vegas?
Speaker 1 (27:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (27:58):
Thank you for being at least transparent.
Speaker 6 (28:00):
It's like last week when I said I'm not going
to scrant to see my son, I just went there.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
I'm not going. Yeah, I was there. I know how
that goes.
Speaker 6 (28:07):
Yeah, come on, man, it happens to the best of us.
As long as it's not one hundred percent, that's the key.
As long as it's not every single time I lose.
As long as it's not that, you're good.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
If you're winning two percent of the time, you're okay.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
I went to Vegas eight times last year, two of
which she was with me.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
The other six she wasn't.
Speaker 6 (28:26):
All right, I'm just gonna ask you this question. Yeah,
you bring back money every time? Not every time really, no,
but for the year I'm up okay. Oh yeah, with
the in the past for that, don't you. Uh, yes,
because she likes spending money.
Speaker 5 (28:38):
There you go, and she gets it.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
She understands I'm in tournaments and stuff out there, you
know how.
Speaker 5 (28:41):
Good And she gets time away from you.
Speaker 6 (28:45):
I'm like, unlike your wife, she gets sad.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
She gets sad when she's away from me.
Speaker 6 (28:52):
Right, keep telling yourself that's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
Well, there's only that's the only way I stay married
to her. Trust me, over theigans that have been happening
over the twenty six years we've been together.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Trust me.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
Anyway, So you were gonna you said you had a
question though about is it the Jackets?
Speaker 6 (29:10):
Yeah, jackets, it's a Jackets question. Yeah, So it seemed Bob,
And you tell me if you agree. It felt like
the lines finally over the last you know, six seven,
eight games, really solidified at the end of the year,
and you're like, this team is good one through four, right,
one through four, and they're just rolling them out.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
Are we gonna see? I mean, first of all, do
you agree with that? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Or did they get lucky?
Speaker 3 (29:34):
No, as some people would try to It's just like,
what you don't get lucky that many games.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
I'll tell you this, I asked Dean Everson.
Speaker 6 (29:41):
This question the other day when I interviewed him, I said,
was it was it a blessing or was it a
challenge when everybody got healthy, because for the longest time
you were like, well, this guy's going to play because
this guy's unavailable.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Is the elephant in the row?
Speaker 5 (29:56):
Everybody's there?
Speaker 6 (29:58):
And he admitted he said, it took us time to
get the right combination.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
And it took him too much time. No offense, I like,
it really did.
Speaker 6 (30:08):
And for me personally, James Van Ringsdyke sitting for four
straight games was not good. Four too many, you know
what I mean. So so yeah, I do agree with that.
By the end, they had the right combination. So how
much of that are we going to see next year? Well,
it depends. Like with JVR as an example, he's a
free agent, right or he will be a free agent
(30:30):
unless they resign him. You've got to resign him, right
You think that that's a you know, I would, I mean,
I say yes right now. But if there's some like
he's playing on the second line at the end of
the year, right, if you can go get somebody in
a trade or another free agent, that's a player that's
going to be around longer. And all that stuff because
(30:50):
you're only going to sign him to a one year deal.
He's almost done. If you get a Mitch Marner, if
you do that, then that's different. But would I sign
him for another year? Yes, one hundred percent right now, so.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Almost done because of his age.
Speaker 6 (31:01):
Yeah, but it's you know, that's the only to me,
that's the only way it's really going to change the
fourth line.
Speaker 5 (31:09):
Corral he's none restricted free agent. I don't know that
he's coming back.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Does he want to come back? Do you know?
Speaker 6 (31:16):
Has he said Well, he hasn't said, Okay, I don't
want to put you in a push. He would come back.
I don't know if he's going to have that opportunity.
Justin dan For it's another guy he's played really well.
He's a small guy. He's had injuries. Do you want
to get bigger on your fourth line? Do you want
to have more size as Woodell that and he was
you know you'd like to get bigger. But that doesn't
(31:38):
mean that he's going to forego a guy like that
just to get bigger, because you know, you you know
Justin dan Forth know what he does.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
That's a jet's a small guy.
Speaker 6 (31:50):
Yeah, that's well small day six one and compared six one,
six one on the roster.
Speaker 5 (31:58):
Well and right in the case, right, let me tell
you that small guy to be here.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Oh oh, that's exactly what I said.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
Remember, we went through this conversation to day. We compared,
you know, his numbers over that short span to helli
Bucks numbers for the season.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
But wait a second, we actually broke it down.
Speaker 5 (32:21):
We broke it down.
Speaker 4 (32:22):
But to be a that level of goalie for an
entire season, you've got to win what he win forty
three he started sixty two one forty three.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
I think it was either that of forty six.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
Yeah, it might have been. It was it was. It
was about seventy five percent of the games. It was
a lot he won.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
It was a lot.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
It was a lot.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
So we're just trying to think of, like, if you
were going to be a starting goalie and if you're
going to be at that level, how many games do
you have to win in a year? And then, I
know a lot of that's oute of your control. Does
the team score goals?
Speaker 5 (32:56):
If you're not.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
Letting people you know score goals, you have a better
chance of winning. And obviously Hellabuck is top of the
heap right now? Right, so Jet if he would. But
we found the combination though ocoy.
Speaker 6 (33:09):
Yeah, I mean with with the Jackets and Jet and
our defense, like everything was just like it all dropped
into place.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
It was all like beautiful. It just kept clicking.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
Yeah, well, what about the thought was Sorows in Nashville
right now?
Speaker 5 (33:26):
He hasn't signed yet, right, so he's no, he's did
he sign?
Speaker 6 (33:29):
I thought he signed a long term last year they
were talking about trading him and then they signed him
to a long time.
Speaker 5 (33:34):
I thought I saw that.
Speaker 4 (33:35):
He was okay, all right, Well never mind, darn it.
There goes my whole theory. This is why I'm not
a general manager for a hockey club, by the way,
but Jets, that guy, I think, So do you think
he is? I think I think he's athletic enough. He's
come and Waddell saying that it's got one of the
quickest gloves I've ever seen.
Speaker 6 (33:52):
I was impressed by that because I love his glove. Yeah,
and you know, I'm being a big baseball guy. I
always bring up to him about you played shortstop growing up,
and I asked him and he kind of downplays it
because people will say what are you saying to European
goalie can't catch. I said, I've seen some that just can't, right,
they're not very good at it. But Jet is great
at it. But he's very confident with his glove. And
(34:14):
you know, he admits, like I played baseball in the summer,
I was just catching uptural. You know. The one thing
that he does with the glove that I think is
different from other guys, and this is a baseball thing.
He will reach across his body and make a catch,
whereas you know, most guys the gloves the gloves on
your glove side and you're using the blocker on the
other side, and he'll use the blocker, but if it's
within range, he'll just reach across.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
The best part about the glove too, is one sits
in the glove that plays over.
Speaker 5 (34:39):
Yeah right, no rebound. I just watched him play last night.
Speaker 6 (34:42):
They Cleveland won last night and overtime to take a
one game to none leading their series against Toronto, and
he was again. He gave up three, but I mean
one of them was at the end where Goalie pulled one.
They took a bad penalty when they were up by
two goals with four minutes left, but he was good again.
Speaker 5 (34:59):
I mean, he's he is going to be here. I
don't know what they're going to do with the other two,
but I'll tell you this, that guy's going to be here,
no doubt. I love that. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
One of the articles, it was either from this week
or last week, Columbus Bluejackets may go into twenty twenty five,
twenty six with a status quo in goaltending and then
they say they start off by going, don't think you've
seen the last of Elvis at this point, blah blah blah.
(35:28):
But they were like, don't be surprised if everything stays
exactly the same.
Speaker 5 (35:32):
What could and.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
That's well, stays the same, except I don't think that
the jet is in Cleveland. I think he's here. I think,
you know, potentially you could start with three. You could
start with three, but you also he could be the
number one guy and Elvis.
Speaker 6 (35:47):
Could be the number two, right, which creates a whole yeah,
different scenario, very weird. Yeah, and I don't know that
that's a good scenario. Well I don't know either, So
I'll just I need to try to get clarification. And
as far as that, I don't know if that creates
a good scenario, is it? Because you got millions of
reasons that it would not create a good scenario.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Is that what we're talking abouting it?
Speaker 6 (36:09):
You know, Elvis would have to embrace that and be
a He would have to be on board with that,
And that would be a hard pill swallow. If you've
been a number one guy and now you're not a
number one guy and you're still getting to save money.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
And how hard would the pill be to swallow? For
Jet If he is the number one guy and then
the number two guys making.
Speaker 2 (36:26):
A whole lot more than him, well, that's that's fine.
Speaker 5 (36:30):
Yeah, he's eventually gonna be that number one.
Speaker 6 (36:32):
He's got next year, he's got a one way deal,
which means he gets paid NHL money whether he plays here,
plays in Cleveland League minimum, I forget what it is, Okay,
but anyway, he's.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
A lot more than he's making now.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
Well, yeah, and he'll be fine with that.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
But as I said, even if he's playing and the
other guy's making a lot more money, that's not the
deal because the year after, at the end of next year,
the money's coming.
Speaker 5 (36:56):
Yeah, simple as that, I mean.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
And if he plays, yeah, next year, like he played
at the end of this year.
Speaker 5 (37:02):
A lot of money's coming, right.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
I just know we're all human before we're anything else.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
And if you're staring at that and you're on fire
and you're the starter, you know, that might start to
be and you might be going.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
Now I know him, it's not going to be, you know.
So that's just something that I But.
Speaker 5 (37:20):
That's another thing that's and that's a fair point. This kid.
Speaker 6 (37:25):
I'm telling you he cares about nothing except being the
best that he could be every day. It's believable, Like
and I talked to him, and whether it's in interviews
or whether it's outside of interviews, I'm telling you he's
He's real.
Speaker 5 (37:38):
He's just a real person. He's down to earth.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
And that's why guys buster tail to help him when
he plays, because he's just what you see is what
you get when you see him doing an interview on TV,
you hear him doing an interview on the radio, and
you hear that person. That's exactly who he is. There's
no fluff about it. I mean, he's no sed Sanders,
but he's getting there.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
He gonna go there again because even if he gets
the money, he's not building an extra room, and you.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
Know what, that's a step in the right direction.
Speaker 6 (38:09):
You know what, even if he does what he did
at the end of this year, he deserves to still
never call himself legendary. No, everybody else will, and it's
deservedly so.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
I might add Weather Sports and the Mark Blaser Show on.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Well, today's not one of those good days to have
exterior paint work done on your home. Chief Meteorologist Marshall McPeek.
He's joining it and having my house painted. And they
started yesterday, yeah, and then well yeah, today it.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Was like the old stall. Well, they came out because
it's having some of the boards.
Speaker 6 (38:51):
I live on a golf course and unfortunately they don't
always hit it straight, so there's some chunks missing out
of different parts of the board.
Speaker 5 (38:59):
So then the guy can't consult Marshall.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Yeah, all for the weather. No, that was on them.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
They were like, we'll get started, we're gonna put you know,
and I'm like that next on you.
Speaker 5 (39:09):
Well, if you had access to this guy and you
didn't ask him what the weather was going to be, like,
let them start, that's on you. I have Marshall on
speed dial. Trust me, I'm always consulting him, but he.
Speaker 8 (39:19):
Doesn't always the house one time and I'm like, so,
what's your rain plan?
Speaker 2 (39:23):
And they're like, no, no, no, not till three.
Speaker 8 (39:25):
I said, no, no, do you see that cloud right
there that's coming here in twenty minutes?
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Like trust me, I know, oh not till three o'clock.
Speaker 8 (39:33):
I'm like, okay, no, Well the guy's doing ref It
was a huge mess, and yeah, I'm like okay.
Speaker 6 (39:41):
Yeah, So anyway, the guy is they're doing repairs today,
which they can work and do in the rain.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
So and it wasn't like pouring this morning.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
Anyway in my negative would so, oh, it's very wet
at your house right now?
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Oh well, hopefully he finished.
Speaker 6 (39:57):
Very wet now, you said to so Radner, it's bad
up there right now.
Speaker 8 (40:02):
Right it is absolutely pouring in Prospect and Radner. Right now,
Ashley is getting a complete downpour.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
Marion is very wet.
Speaker 8 (40:11):
City of Delaware, Sunbury, Westerville, drum Township, Marysville, everybody's getting
all kinds of rain right now. So it is coming
down pretty good. Northern Outer Belt is kind of the
southern edge of southern edge of a big batch of
rain right now. But there's more coming up from the south,
it's a little lighter, but that's getting into Grove City
and Circleville.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
So we're not done with this.
Speaker 8 (40:30):
We're still gonna have some showers and thunderstorms over the
next few hours, and then it'll taper off overnight.
Speaker 5 (40:35):
We'll drop to fifty three for the overnight low.
Speaker 8 (40:37):
Right now, we're looking at the maps a few minutes
ago between Fort Wayne.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
And Chicago, right which is not really that far.
Speaker 8 (40:44):
There is like a twenty five degree difference between the
two because that's where the cold front is. So you've
got Fort Wayne in like the seventy degree range and
Chicago's in like the mid fifties.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
So there's a big cold front out there.
Speaker 8 (40:58):
As that pushes through here, it'll move all this rain
by fifty three overnight tonight, sixty one for your day tomorrow,
should be relatively dry by the time we get to
the Cap City Half Marathon first thing in the morning, Sunday,
sunshine and sixty eight.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Marshall, thank you very much. Sixty eight right now.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
So also one of the angles in one of these.
Speaker 2 (41:17):
Articles that I was looking at.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
Bob mcgalligant, radio voice for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Maga
McCoy and studio, and so the Jackets can start extension
talks with mister thirty one Adam Fantilly as of July one,
open talks and yeah, they'll be they'll be extent.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
That will be a good one. And from the.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
Time he started to now, I feel like it's like
heads and tail. He came in and it was highly
touted and all of that, but boy, what he is
really kind of turning into.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
Is really nice. Only twenty super nice right now? Isn't
that weird? It feels like he's been here a long
time already.
Speaker 6 (41:53):
Let's go back to probably second week of December, and
I said to Jody Shelley, is this guy going to
figure it out?
Speaker 5 (42:02):
Like what's going on here?
Speaker 6 (42:03):
Didn't have very many points, wasn't scoring goals playing third
line center. And this is why I'm not a GM
by the way, yes, because then it was took off
when Sean Monahan got injured and he had to move
from the third line to the first line.
Speaker 5 (42:23):
I mean, the points go off the charts.
Speaker 6 (42:26):
He just but what he was doing, and Dean Evison
talked about this, and I talked to Dean about this
the other day. He said, because he was asked about it.
You know, Fantell, he's not scoring a lot. He goes,
I'm never going to tell guys not to score goals,
but there's other parts of the game they have to learn.
Speaker 5 (42:42):
And he was and it wasn't you know.
Speaker 6 (42:44):
It was hard to see at the time because you're
expecting him to be doing something else. But then once
he started scoring the goals and putting up the points,
then you could also see the defensive plays that he
was making to keep the puck out of the net.
So this guy, look, he went from twelve goals and
an injury shortened rookie season the thirty one goals in
(43:04):
season number two.
Speaker 5 (43:06):
And I asked a real deal, I asked Don Woodell.
I said, look, you.
Speaker 6 (43:10):
Have said that in the past that there are guys
that you would, you know, give long term contracts to
when they're coming out of their entry deal.
Speaker 5 (43:19):
Is this one of the guys?
Speaker 6 (43:20):
And he said, well, agents have different variations of how
they deal with this. You know, some agents like to
go they want to go with a long term deal
right away. Some like the bridge deals. We'll have to
see what his camp wants to go with when we
get to that point. So either way he's getting another contract.
Obviously for sure he's like great position.
Speaker 5 (43:40):
But yeah he is. He's in a fantastic position because
he can, you know, much like you go into Vegas.
He can roll the dice so that he could say,
I'll take a bridge contract, I'll take a shorter term
deal and prove that I can really do good things,
and then I'll take a long term deal, or i
can take the guarantee right away.
Speaker 4 (43:56):
So what's that the bridge deal is five and then
maybe or less?
Speaker 5 (44:03):
What billions? Well no, no, you're billions, No, no, millions.
Speaker 6 (44:07):
Billions, yeah yeah, no, yeah, exactly, because I'm thinking about years.
Speaker 5 (44:11):
Like you take a year deal.
Speaker 6 (44:13):
You take a three year bridge deal, so just to
prove that you can continue at that level, and then
you get the.
Speaker 5 (44:19):
Eight year deal. Well, then you're like an elite player.
You're making your ten plus.
Speaker 6 (44:23):
Because you're not going to make your like eight times
eight or eight times ten or whatever it's going to be.
Speaker 5 (44:29):
You know, are you going to get that right now?
Speaker 2 (44:31):
No?
Speaker 5 (44:31):
So what's a long term deal right now? Look like
if you're probably I don't know if.
Speaker 6 (44:35):
He's coming out of the let's say it takes a
even if he takes a three three year at four million.
I mean, even if you do that, you got twelve
million bucks, right, right, and then you know the next.
Speaker 5 (44:45):
One's going to be sixty four plus? Yeah right? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (44:50):
Well, I mean look at if you're if you are
at thirty one goals now at twenty years old, and
we really don't know what the ceiling is for this guy.
Everything that everybody points to his elite, elite level for him.
Even Austin Matthews this year after what a sixty semid
goal season last year was thirty two this year, right,
(45:11):
and he had some injuries, and he had some injuries.
I get that, but you know, Fantilly could be that
level of guy for sure, an Austin Matthews level.
Speaker 6 (45:20):
Well, and so that's what it comes down to. As
a player and as an agent, what do you what
do you want to do? Do you want to take
a shorter term deal and say I'll prove to you
I can be that guy, or do you want to
go eight years right now and say I think I
could be that guy, but I'm going to take the
guarantee anyway.
Speaker 5 (45:37):
You know, if I'm Fantilly, I'm taking the shorter term, right.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
Yeah, it seems like a no brainer to me when
you kind of lay it out like that.
Speaker 6 (45:45):
It's hard to go because he's twenty, because I don't
know if the organization goes by Maybe they do, I
don't know, But do you do you go like.
Speaker 5 (45:52):
Sixty four million bucks right out of your answer level?
Speaker 6 (45:55):
Deal?
Speaker 5 (45:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (45:56):
It's a tough one. I mean, unless you are if
that number wasn't thirty, that's what excuse it for me. Yeah, yeah,
because it was thirty one. Yeah, because now you're like, well,
now now you've got preaty think about it, right, you know,
now you got to think about it.
Speaker 5 (46:09):
If it's twenty, you go, oh that was nice?
Speaker 2 (46:11):
Yeah? But how many? How many were empty netters?
Speaker 5 (46:15):
Yeah? Right, only one I can think of.
Speaker 2 (46:17):
He's amazing man, especially given how old he is. And
it's ridiculous his IQ conversations to have, by the way, yeah, exactly.
His hockey IQ is like that of someone who's been
in the league for ten years.
Speaker 5 (46:33):
At this point.
Speaker 6 (46:33):
It feels like when you watch him play, his process
like the way he processes everything at least.
Speaker 5 (46:39):
Well he's you know, so, no, he's come a long
way in one year. He's come along the way,
