Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Mark Blazer Show with Chuck Douglas. Also, Matt Skellen,
owner of Kitchen Tune Up, is here with me. Matt
is a diehard golf guy. And Matt, what do you
what's your handicap right now? Roughly around a three handicap,
So I have never been a three. As a matter
of fact, you could add about ten to that and
that's my handicap. I'm about twelve thirteen somewhere around there

(00:22):
or whatever.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
And then so yeah, there we go.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
That's I just want to make sure you're on there
so everybody can hear you, Chuck, I gotta so this
is never This is a once in a lifetime thing
that happened to me.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
And it was while I was golfing on Tuesday.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
And this is the third day in a row that
I played while I was in Vegas. I didn't think
I knew I was going to be playing twice, but
I ended up playing a third time. And this third
round of golf was at the Win Golf Course, which
is behind Win Encore. As a matter of fact, it
is just east of the strip. I mean it's right
behind his two properties there, Win and Encore. It's in

(00:59):
the shadow of the sphere. This place is absolutely every
blade of grass is perfect. I mean, we're going along.
I ended up with some people that I didn't even know.
They put me with, which is kind of what they'll do.
So you're not out there by yourself with a caddy,
and then you're playing faster than the other foursms that
are out there and so on.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
So we're standing there, I think we were on about.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Maybe thirteen or so, and these guys come rolling up
in a golf cart and I thought, uh, great, like
something like you know, with some riff raff here, like
what's going on because these guys looked official.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
So they roll up.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
And they get out, they get out of the golf
cart and they come up to us and they go, so,
we're gonna need to search your guys as We're gonna
need to search your golf bags, and we're gonna need
to wand you guys down. And I was like staring
at him, going to say say what, like.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
And the guys like, yeah, we need to we're with
the United States Secret Service. We need to to check
out all of your stuff. And I'm just I'm staring
at the guy, going are we getting punked, Like what
what is it?

Speaker 2 (02:04):
I was like, what is he? I'm starting to get
excited for you? Now what else?

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Come on?

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Come on?

Speaker 1 (02:08):
And so I'm like just staring at the guy and
the other guy sitting back in the cart. It's almost
like he was like back up in case somebody decided
to get squirrely with the first guy. He's far enough
away where he can just start shooting people, is what
I'm thinking.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
But he says to me then he go, I go, well,
what is all? Did he single you out or the
entire force? All of us?

Speaker 1 (02:28):
So he just said we're gonna need to look through
all your guys' stuff. And I said you're with who again?
And he said we're your United States Secret Service. You've
heard of us, right, And I go then he just
kind of a smart ass. I go, yeah, I've heard
of you, and he goes, yeah, well, we we're gonna
need to search you guys.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
I said, what is this about? What do you need
to search our stuff?

Speaker 1 (02:48):
And he goes, well, Vice President Vance is out here
playing and we need to make sure everybody out here
is you know, everything's good. And I look at my
caddie and he nods like yeah, that's true. So he
knew when we were teeing off that Vice President Vance
was going to be there. So I go, well, listen,
where is he? And he go and you should have

(03:09):
seen the guy look on his face. He goes, he's
out there somewhere.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
It's a secret where the Secret Service. Weren't you listening?

Speaker 1 (03:17):
He was like a wise ass. He's like, he's out there.
And I go, well, listen, I gotta tell you. Please,
when you go back, tell him that Blazer is here
from Ohio. And I said, I help get the freaking
guy elected as senator in Ohio.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
I go.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
I had him on the show probably twelve times with me.
He'll know exactly who I am, I promise you.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
And I go. I got his phone number in my phone.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
For the love of god, you should have seen the
way that Secret Service guy was looking at me. He
looked at me like I had three heads. It was
the funniest look on his face. And I was like,
just tell him, please, just tell him Blazer is over here.
And I go, so where is he? And the guy goes,
I told you he's over there somewhere. I'm not sure
exactly where, but we're vetting the rest of the course
here we got to go all around when we see

(04:00):
people and I'm just like okay. So they look through everything.
Thank god nobody in our group because I didn't know
the other three guys with us. Thank God they didn't
have anything stupid going on, because I thought, holy cow,
we're all gonna get there's something dumb's gonna happen here.
Somebody's gonna have a gun or something stupid. And it
turns out they didn't. Well, so we start to drive away.
We get on the next hole and I see, like

(04:22):
I don't know, ten carts coming down the fairway and
like he's JD's in the middle of them, and uh
and the second cart who's playing with him? I think
there was a woman I didn't even reckon. So I
saw him like JD. I'm like yelling. I'm like JD,
and there's there's secret service on foot who they like.
I get their attention and they start moving toward me.

(04:44):
And JD didn't hear me. He didn't even he wasn't
even looking over. But I was yelling and they they
started and I go, oh my god, these guys are
gonna tackle me right here. I better stop, man, So
I actually texted him, and I don't even know if
he has the same phone number it was when he
was senator. And look, I'll say it, I had it
just because he used to call in.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
It's probably not even his real number or whatever.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
I probably shouldn't have said all this on the air
that but once upon a time I did have it
if that was the real number.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
But anyway, so I didn't end up.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
I thought I better stop because these these secret service
they look like they're gonna run over here, like take
me out or whatever. But what are the odds we're
out there when when Vice President Advance is out there.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
He was in town for.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
A bitcoin some sort of bitcoin thing or something in Vegas.
But he was out there and I didn't even get
to see him hit a shot. I wanted to see
like what, like how good of a golfer he was?

Speaker 2 (05:34):
But more importantly I want to say hi to him.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
And then, like two other guys in my group, they
didn't know what I did for a living. So right
then they started going, so you host a talk show,
really conservative, and they were like nice, you know they
these guys were like, oh man, we gotta start listening.
So we got we got people that are gonna be listening,
I think in Chicago, Chuck, just so you know, this
guy was like a stockbroker or something, so.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
The conservative in Chicago really go figure.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
And he was young too, I swear to god, this
guy was maybe thirty if that.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Are you familiar with the term act like you've been
here before? Yeah, well nay.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Look I'm off Dark Tank Jay Day.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
You know, the Secret Service going Yep, he's from Ohio.
But I just kept telling him, I'm like, I'm from Ohio.
I was like, he's from Middletown.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Man. I was like just and I was like saying,
it's just so funny looking at the Secret Service in
their face. It was just hilarious, Like, yeah, whatever, buddy,
we get this all the time.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Sure you're good friends with him or whatever. I mean,
what are the odds think about for them?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
What are the odds they roll up on a guy
who's had him on the radio with him probably twelve times,
you know what I mean. And so it was just
a funny, just kind of a funny story. But I
was just like, wow, that is that's the story from
that trip, you know, from from that trip the lot
jn over here JN so funny.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
You should have. If you're gonna do something like that,
you gotta make it interesting, though. I mean, I don't
just nodw jny, I'm having your baby now for that.
I guarantee you the cart stops when he hears that.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Yeah, it stops, all right, and the guys on foot
probably start aiming their weapons at me, going get down
on the ground, you know, or whatever.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Suppless to say, you probably didn't get a text back
from him. I did not. I did not.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
I don't think that even I don't even know if
that's his. He probably doesn't have I mean, think about it.
As vice president, he's not gonna have the same phone
number now, I'm guessing, and the people who matter he's
gonna go, hey, here's my newte number.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Yeah. I was left off of that list somehow, mister
vice president. What the heck? Come on, man,
