you had your seat and I had my seat and
we both fell asleep. If that's the case, then I
slept with one hundred and thirty eight people this week.
Everybody falls asleep on the plane. That don't mean you

R and B and Chicago.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Let me tell you, even though I sit in the room.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
With two brothers that have degrees in Ryan and Zach Buok,
I still feel like the level of intelligence is not
high enough.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
So that's why we have our jests here. Mister yusef D.
Jackson is in the building, and how you doing? Thank you?
Thank you for raising intelligence.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
In the room.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
How you doing today, sir?

Speaker 7 (02:45):
I know you know I want you University of Virginia, Okay,
sure that I probably I'll probably bring it down from
Jackson State.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Cavalier, Cavalier Pride.

Speaker 8 (02:53):
What you got going on?

Speaker 9 (02:54):
Man?

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Brings you here today.

Speaker 7 (02:56):
I'm here because this is one of the most consequential
periods in our lives. We hear that a lot been overstated,
but I will tell you what most people fail to realize.
You wake up in the morning, turn eighteen. You're allowed
to vote, you can go to a school you got
health care. That's not because you were born. That's because
of the law. And the law is what gives you
your rights. The law is what we fought for in
sixty four, sixty five, and sixty eight win legislation to

(03:18):
change the law to end legal segregation. And so now
all of what we fought for, literally with the courts
and with the administration is under attack. And so now
we've seen almost two hundred days of administration that has
systematically attacked our rights to go to school, our right
to work, the right to have our art installations and
art museums, our teachers, our healthcare, all of that's under attack.

(03:39):
And so we're coming together June twelve through fourteen in
Chicago at the National Rainbow Push Coalition to have our
annual conference, a people's call to action.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
We're not just sitting on the sideline. We're acting.

Speaker 7 (03:49):
So on Thursday, June to twelve, we start with a
luncheon at twelve thirty headlined by Reven Al Sharpton, a
number of ministers and civic organizations, and then we go
into a protest at Target led by Reverend Jamal Bryant.
He's coming in town from Atlanta to spend time with
us and teach us why uh this boycott is so important?
And then this and then Thursday night we're at Fellowship

(04:11):
Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend with Reverend Sharp for a
Reverend Clay Evans gospel concert with Marcus D.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Wiley.

Speaker 7 (04:18):
Start off with some comedy the Right Darius Brooks, and
then Jaquelin Carr is going to bring the house down
that night. The next day we come back with an
amazing event, this co sponsored with me, brother Les Coney
and Tory Barrett at his place at the Park and
we're gonna do John Hope Bryant and Georcey Fraser talking
about Black wealth and AI. And on Friday night it's

(04:38):
gonna be a special elevated event. We're having our Women's event.
It's not a luncheon this year. It's an evening with
women at the Soho House in Chicago. It's a special one.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
I want to be at the Elevated Women. It's gonna
be women with degrees, good things going on.

Speaker 9 (04:57):
Good.

Speaker 7 (04:58):
Yes, We're gonna take it up a not yes, yeah, no, no.
And then we're going to come back with two hundred
days Reflections with the Jim Zogby and John Nichols, and
then the state of the Media because the media is
under attack. And then we come back at Rainbow Push
on Saturday morning for our broadcast. It's going to be
extended two hours from ten to twelve. For two hours,
we're going to give a political have a political rally,
and do our Saturday Morning form which we've done every

(05:20):
Saturday since nineteen seventy one for a while.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
This weekend is popping. It's poppuln. Get your outfits written,
because I see you got a lot. Y'all got a
lot going on. I do want to ask you what
do you think the policies that what policies do you
think black voters or just black people in general should
be paying attention to with this current administration.

Speaker 7 (05:38):
The first thing you have to understand is we can't
wait for politicians to give us policy, which is one
of the reasons we're holding the stompers. You think about
the Heritage Foundation, which your Heritage Society, which you probably
heard a lot about. You've heard of the Federalist Society,
which these organizations, the evangelicals, they didn't wait for Republicans
to give them policy.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
They gave the Republicans policy, and so this is what
we want.

Speaker 7 (05:59):
And then they both in great numbers to elect someone
who would affect the policy changes in the court system
and administration that we that we see today. So we're
coming together to give Democrats and other folks who listen
our policy. Why because our narrow minorities when we're together,
become the overwhelming majority. Most people in this country are

(06:19):
not rich. Most of us are struggling. We work every day,
work several jobs. I can't tell you how many people
I see every day sing, hey, do you have any
extra work for me?

Speaker 2 (06:27):
And they're working full time. So people are working hard.

Speaker 7 (06:29):
They're doing with my dad Jack, catching the early books,
and so this narrative that poor people are not working
is absolutely false and wrong. And then we're disroportionately represented
in that number is we're working too. So the foundation
of it is education. When you challenge our rights to
get an education, you're really making it impossible for us
to get out of the poverty zone.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Right.

Speaker 7 (06:49):
The second thing is we have to be able to
plan an equal and a fair playing field. So if
we can't have access to capital, what are we here for.
So those are two of the policies. I think we
have to start with education, health, and access to capitol.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Well there it is. Yeah, alright, this is gonna be
a powerful thing.

Speaker 9 (07:04):
Man.

Speaker 4 (07:05):

going on.

any surprises going on? Well at all?

Speaker 4 (09:10):
By events man, we do three major events a year.

Speaker 9 (09:12):
We tick off the summer with the golf event, and
then in August we do it back to School rally
in peace Fest where we have a bunch of performance
artists and different things like that. And then we ended
in October with the Black Taie Galla on Kleo's birthday.
And so at the golf out of this year, you
can expect all the elected officials to be out there,
and we've got about one hundred and twenty six registered
golfers right now. But even if you don't want golf,
you want to come post up at the bar and

(09:33):
hang out, you can do that as well.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
Sounds all right, And I'm going to ask you this
before I let you get up out of here, because
y'all been serving the Chicago land community since two thousand
and seven, and since you've been doing this golf out,
how many of the elected officials and celebrities that come
my straight trash like is it trash talking going on?
Like you got it only seventy five yards off the

(09:55):
tee just trash.

brother Now we kind of drive around and check everybody out.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
We try to tee off with everybody.

Speaker 9 (10:04):
And most of the elected officials that come out, they
don't actually play. They come out and shake hands. Yeah,
take pictures that babies. Yeah yeah yeah, but it's cool though.
I appreciate their support, and I appreciate the city support.

So I got a letter today. It says, Dear Leon
and Zach, I'm stuck between the most two important women
in my life. I've been married for two years, okay,
and every time me and my wife go around my family,
it's tension. My mom is slick with the comments, always
got something to say about how my wife cooks, cleans
and even dresses. My wife be trying to hold it together,

(20:15):
but I can see she's fed up. And she told
me straight up, either I checked my mom or she's
out now. But how do I choose between my wife
and my mother? My mom raised me gave me everything,
but my wife, who is built who I'm building a
life with. Now I'm tired of talking to my mom,
but she says, my wife is just too sensitive and
trying to take me away.

(21:23):
loves the most.

Speaker 4 (21:24):

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Man, This guy wrote in basically said his mother is
overbearing and criticizes the way his wife does everything, the
way she cooks, the way she cleaned, the way she
dressed everything, And his mom is like, well, she's sensitive,
you know, because he wudn't talk to her about it.
But he really loves his mom, don't want to make
her mad either, and he's trying to find a way
to set boundaries with his mom without damaging the relationship

(21:45):
with his wife. So there it is.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
What should he do?

Speaker 5 (21:48):

You check it in?

Speaker 5 (21:52):
From this shay?

Speaker 9 (21:54):
What side?

Speaker 4 (21:55):
What side check it in?

Speaker 2 (21:56):
What should this young man do?

Speaker 6 (21:57):
He should see what has been because if his daddy
was around, the mama won't have nothing to say because
she'll be mad at her own beat.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Mmm, you dine brought it in his daddy.

Speaker 6 (22:07):
Yes, his daddy need to step in and intervene and
tell him that that's a grown man. He got his
own family, his own household. I don't care if his
wife can't cook, clean or dress.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
He love it.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
So why you mad?

Speaker 4 (22:18):
Fat gedy? Where you're diddy?

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Where you did.

Speaker 6 (22:24):
Have a great morning y'all?

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Yeah, that's what you say. Call your mama say go home,
mama gone now? Yeah, I mean, what's the rulers?

Speaker 4 (22:32):
God? Man, wife, kids, family in that order.

Speaker 5 (22:37):
So, and if you got a real mama, she want
understand that you're gonna take your wife's side because that's
your partner. That's who you're gonna leave the rest of
your life with. So Mama, mind your business. I like it,
and I like that little thing she do when you
ain't around. So yeah, her cooking can be terrible, the
way she dressed can be terrible, but that little thing
she do at night. Boy, Hey, mama, gonne mind your business.

(22:59):
Find and find another daddy. I don't know if daddy's
still around or not. Find you another one, go to
bingo or something. But over here, yeah, I'll eat a
TV donner every night. But that little thing she do
later on eleven dinner crazy, ten thirty eleven, after the
bee two wards go out.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
Yeah, uh huh, yes up. So mind your business, mama.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
I also want to know from the side of like,
is he sneaking over there with his mama complaining? You
know what I'm saying that too. I want to know
that because it's you over there giving your mama grievances
and then she's saying something to the girl. You know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
But I will I'll say this though too, that even still, if.

Speaker 5 (23:38):
If I've ever had something with my wife and I
went and kind of like fussing and complaining around my
mama and Ma, Mama be like, I don't want.

Speaker 9 (23:45):
To hear that.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
You go talk to your wife and figure it out.
So a good mother is gonna be like, hey, work
it out. Don't be cause if you if you're gonna
do all that complaining and still stay shut up complaining.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
I understand that. But if you gonna don't go, don't
open up the pen the box to your mama either.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
You know what I'm saying. I'm saying I guess I'm
putting on this on. A real mother wouldn't take what
you've given her crazy.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
We're talking about this one right here, and she obviously
be going crazy. So you can't be telling her stuff.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
You can't try to take the toxicity out of people.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
You know, a great mother, right, brother, we wouldn't had
his letter, That's true, all right. We a we helped you, but.

why you will always be Brandy's little brother. Nobody's ever

be quiet for about three months.

Speaker 5 (26:39):
Just be quiet, ray J. We don't wanna hear nothing
from you, nothing about you. You gave that girl half
fast an apology.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
That was terrible. Now, don't get me wrong, maybe sleeping

They had Kevin Hart host and they had legends performing
from Snoop Dogg to they did the Jamie Fox tribute.

is the second best one ever done that.

Speaker 5 (29:37):
You still think the Will Smith and Jada one that
they hosted and they put together was top tier. I'll
go this one second. And then the one where Monique
did what Monique hosted, I think I want to say
it wasn't two thousand and three when she did Crazy
in Love.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
That was the third best one.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
I I like Tianna Taylor's performing. Oh my god, let's
I think we need to talk about Snoops performing. Hey

Yeah man. It went down b e t twenty twenty
five went on Sister Park tribute. Glorrilla performed Franklin Jamie
Fox one that we didn't talk about that. I think

snapped Tanna Taylor choreogly rays with the choreography she was.

Speaker 4 (33:27):
Ro the android joint when she went up in the air.

Speaker 2 (33:30):

his mic down and walked off all over the dead bodies.

He snapped, that was one of my Yeah that it too,
Snoop Snoop and Snoop and Snoop went crazy, brought out
Charlie Wilson. I thought it was a vibe. Ryan, which
one you mean did you like? What performance was your favorite?

Speaker 11 (34:10):
Honestly, to be honest, I liked all of them. I
thought BT got every performance, every tribute right. They had
the icons there, the one on System Park I think
we were talking about off Mike. They chose the right
artist and the right song to do to recap that
era from bow Wow to bringing out Jermaine Duprieu to
B two k even reuniting back on stage.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
I mean it was. They had Anne, Marie and Marie.
You know, Marie was the first that was that was
the first. That was the first video today I've ever
played Wow.

Speaker 11 (34:41):
M everybody so honestly for me, because you know, I'm
a gospel church kid. Kirk at the end best set overall,
but overall is a show, hands down, bet ten out
of ten.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
You see, Kirk had the best set. I think I think.

Speaker 11 (34:58):
Energy, energy, Kirk said, and he took it to another level.
It was gospel mixed with the BT vibe.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
No, I get it, I get it. It was I
just what I said. They really split the back this year.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
Kirk, take his shirt off?

Speaker 2 (35:11):
What I was talking about, Kurt.

Speaker 11 (35:12):
He brought out Money Long, Tamar and the Americano when
he all, yeah, So it was so many and he
had these young fly in.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
There was so many components. Kirk wouldn't take his shirt off. Man,
he was restraining itself. And I see why, I see
why they had him last.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
Yeah, the energy wasn't nobody gonna be able.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
To top that. Man, that was That was a cold show, man.
That was a BT. When y'all get it right, y'all
get it right, man, y'all got it right this time.
That was cold.

Speaker 5 (35:37):
That was a show from start to finish. Bust the rhymes.
Don't wear rings over leather gloves, that's it.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
They gotta do it.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
That was terrible.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Man, that's bust a ride.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
Don't do that up.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Five seventy five.

Speaker 5 (36:02):
Five w GC shows number one for hip hopping on
b Leon Rogers, Zach Bug, Big Ryan on the boards,
Man so best to have morning show Chicago and we're
talking b E T Award.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
Yeah, Man, BT Awards went down last night. Man, Jamie Fox,
he got the Icon Award. As we know, Jamie Fox
can do everything from acts scene. I mean, Jamie's probably
one of the one of those talented people in Hollywood period.

Speaker 5 (36:28):
Man.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
Threat.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
Yeah, and it's and it's you know, it's well worked.
From the Jamie Fox Show to the movies he's been in.
I mean, from comedies to serious roles to playing somebody
like Ray. I mean, you know, Jamie Fox is Jamie
Fox for a reason. Well, he received this Icon Award
and you know he came off the near death experience

(36:49):
and he got choked up, checked this out.

Speaker 9 (36:53):
Man.

Speaker 8 (36:53):
We used to take this scene for granted that God
is good. God is good and all the time.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
I cannot even begin to express the love that I
feel from everybody out there. I gotta, I gotta be honest.
When I saw the memoriam, when I saw that memoriam,

(37:25):
I was like, man, that could have been me. But
I don't know why I went through what I went through.
But I know my second chance I'm not gonna turn down.

Speaker 2 (37:39):
Yeah it is, man, Jamie Fox super dope man. His
daughters were in the audience. I really loved his tribute
from They had Babyface singing blame it on the alcohol.
Come on, man, Babyface came out, tea Pain performed with them,
Ludacris came out. I mean it was. It was one
of the ones.

Speaker 5 (37:56):
Man, that's gotta be overwhelming when you gotta let just
like that showing you love. Jennifer Hudson and e got
belting out one of your hits, Like, that's gotta be
That's gotta put a lot of stuff in perspective for you.
But Jamie Fox is one of the people of our time.
He's essential for the culture, absolutely essentral.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
Yeah it's just Jamie Baby. Come on, man, you can't
even front on that. No you can't, man. I really
enjoyed the BT Awards this shear dog. I really did.
I was sitting back like, hey, this is co man,
all right there it is. Let us know, man, what
you like. From the BT Awards, A sixty six, A
A five one on seven five hit us.

Speaker 5 (38:34):
Up ghos number one for hip hopping be the best
damn morning to show in Chicago, Leon Rodgers, Zach Book,
Big Ryan on the boards, man, were talking b E
T Awards. Man, we recap it, man, want to see
how y'all feel about it? A six six eight, A
five one oh seven five.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
Yeah, man, it went down. I think one of the
best performances and most inspirational performances. Who had to be
Kirk Franklin. Man BT Awards left it on the high note.
You know what I'm saying with Kirk right before we
get into this. This is what I want y'all to
sound like when we do Friday gospel with the child.
You want to sound like Kirk Franklin's when you award
went in quiet. Yes, that's just that's your expectations.

Speaker 11 (39:12):
It's grammy when we were about to play.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
This is how y'all need to sound on Friday. Okay,
play it. That's that's.

Speaker 4 (39:55):
Now.

Speaker 5 (39:56):
I can't speak for Zach, but I know I can't
sound like the choir, but I can sound like Kirk
coming in every three.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
Seconds from heaving. Yeah, I could, I could do that.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
I can't do it.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
What thirty seconds?

Speaker 4 (40:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (40:13):
That was cold?

Speaker 4 (40:13):
That was cold. I man, we ain't even listen, man,
we ain't finna go out around.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
But you're the gospel guy. You're supposed to be the
one coaching us on neck. You supposed to have hands,
signals or nothing. You just be sitting there like down
that heel Leon and Zach.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
He'd be like, figure it out. Yeah, you know what
I'm saying, you leave us out there. You know, Kurt
brought out money Loan, Tamar Braxton, Jamal Roberts to do
from yep Yo.

Speaker 5 (40:39):
I heard he's one of the coldest American idols to
ever do it, like far as winning. Like I didn't
get it to watch the show, but they said, yeah,
but I'm saying that just said even vocally they say,
like he's on another level.

Speaker 2 (40:50):
He cold, he cold. You gotta check him out, bro,
he cold. I'm excited. Well, you know what I like
most about this award show.

Speaker 5 (40:58):
You know a lot of times when you go to
these war shows, everybody be too cool to get up
and participate. Like it really seemed like because when when
they started, when they did the recop, like you know,
the one O six and part thing.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
People was in the our snapped in their glance and.

Speaker 5 (41:13):
Like they partied, Like I think that the energy of
the crowd sets the tone of the show, and they
was in that. They was in the stands, partying, dancing
with each other when Kurt came out and they was dancing,
dim praise, whatever they wanted to do. So I think
that that that kind of helps it too, because a
lot of them award shows, everybody be too cool and
get down and celebrate.

Speaker 11 (41:34):
Yeah, I think we're also having an understanding for the culture.
Though in such a time as this, it was important
to have an award show like last night. Well see, yeah,
the way that the world is, the government is happened
to black people specifically.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
That's why I liked that we had a lot of
icons like Tyler Perry.

Speaker 11 (41:52):
I was just so that those people we need more
and more of that because that's what takes BT and
the culture to another level.

Speaker 4 (41:57):
Tyler Perry' speech was crazy.

Speaker 2 (41:59):
I mean we had and the show the full spectrum
full from from from from uh from Glorella that Charlie
Wilson was on the stage last night, you know from
early two thousand, yeah, now from baby Face he was
on the stage.

Speaker 4 (42:16):
Snoop dog Snoop dog Ye had that. Yeah, it was
it was.

Speaker 2 (42:18):

and forming together. Yes, that was crazy, bridging the gap man. Man,
All right, man, there it is. We'll be right back.

Speaker 5 (44:10):

now you know why he married Why is that brother
where he married her? Because of the Muslim faith. You know,
you're not supposed to forny cake. So he married her
so he could see what that was about and didn't

and clear of anybody for ninety days.

Speaker 2 (44:28):
Yeah, I'm doing it because they have to try to
re reconcile. You know what I'm saying. I pray for them.

who looking at you, you looking at your relationship and
you think and it may be bad or it's not
doing good, just know it could be worse, okay, and
you get people out of fifty two days, that's it
