Speaker 5 (03:08):
Wednesday morning, lawmakers and leaders from Chicago's Latino community will
share their concerns about President Donald trump plan to possibly
deploy the National Guard troops to Chicago now. In a
post on social media, the president said, in part, a
really daily weekend in Chicago, six dead, twenty seven, herd
and crimes breeze all over the city. Panic stricken Governor

(03:29):
Prinsker says that crime is under control, when in fact
it's just the opposite. He is an incompetent governor who
should call me for help. Who said that a president
Trump now police data shows three people were in fact
kill this weekend, not six. Mayor Brandon Johnson said, if
the president really wanted to address violence, he would have
not cut off hundreds of millions of dollars for violence prevention.

(03:51):
They don't want our communities to be safer for all
of us. They just want to play on people's fears
and anxieties to seize more power for themselves. So Latino
lawmakers playing to hold a news conference condemning Trump's playing
later this morning at Federal Plaza.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
We gotta go somewhere else.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yeah, it be that one place.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
Yeah, Brandon Johnson says, Hey, the city's grappling with a
one point one billion dollar budget shortfall. He says, I
know how we can close the gap. Raise the taxes
on the ultra rich. He said the city's budget needs
to prioritize working families over the wealthy. He says he's

(04:58):
toying with a corporate head tax, which would charge businesses
of a certain size for each Chicago employee, and it's
estimated to raise about twenty five million annually if approved.
He says, budgets historically have been balanced on the backs
of black and brown and working people in Chicago, and
it's time as a city we reject that form of
budgeting and we get to pursue what I believe is

(05:20):
a more righteous budget.

Speaker 6 (05:22):
Okay, I just hope the retaliation wouldn't be them they moved.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
Or they moved, or they take their businesses move. We'll
see though, But as long as you don't raise property tax.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Charlie Mack. And who else is Shaquille O'Neill.

Speaker 1 (07:43):

Mack box. Yeah, So it uses up a little bit
when you got the skill set and the other person's
just big. That might I know that, but I mean

play for the Chicago Bears. Well, he's doing a little
jail time. He had a DUI case. They closed it

All right, all right, so we got a lot of today,
says dear Dear.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Leon and Zach.

Speaker 6 (15:12):
I am in a situation where I honestly don't know
who to believe. My homegirl swear she saw my man
hugged up with another woman. I confronted him and he
tells me she's lying because she low key like him.
At first, I brush it off until he showed me
dms she sent him late at night flirting. Now here's

(15:33):
where things get tricky. My friend says those d ms
are fake. She claims she screenshot at old messages, cut
him up and made it look a certain way. And
to be real, he does work in I T so
he could know how to do something like that. But
at the same time, I've caught my friend being too
friendly around him before, so I can't rule her out either.

(15:55):
So what do I do Do I believe my man
and rich throwing away a good friendship, or believe my
friend and possibly walk away from a good man somebody
lying for both stories sound believable. Love really shitt.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Beat his horse.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Hit is out clueless on this one. A six six
eight five seven five hit it's up man, it's GC.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
I I'd rather lie then to lose your girl. I'd
rather lie then confuse your girl. Truth is we love them, they.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Want us gone.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Truth as they can.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Handle me at the time, I'd rather spare you that
details my love.

Speaker 5 (16:45):
Yeah, go one who is number one for hip hop
and R and B. That was Glowrilla, Yeah, glow. We'll
smack dab in the middle of loving or leave them.
Man got a whold some decisions to make.

Speaker 6 (16:57):
Yeah, so uh, basically she got A lady wrote in
she said a homegirl swear she saw her man hugged
up with another woman when he was from confronted. He said,
now your friend be trying to get on that get
at me. Look at these dms. So he showed that
to us her friends. She was like, hey, man, she
got d ms of you. And then she was like, nah,
that might be photo, you know, might be it in
the photoshop that ain't real or whatever.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
And she don't know who to believe. She don't know
what to believe. A man, she don't know whether to
believe the lady. She like, what's going on? What should
she do?

Speaker 5 (17:26):
A six six eight A five one seven five. Let's
go to the phone line to this where you check.

Speaker 6 (17:30):
It in from This is Melissa from Rothbert.

Speaker 9 (17:33):
She need to leave both of them alone.

Speaker 7 (17:36):
He knew that the messages.

Speaker 8 (17:38):
Were already sent to him, and he ain't never said
nothing because she confer to him she need to leave
both of them alone.

Speaker 9 (17:43):
And she ain't no good friends either, m.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
Man, she said, drop them both like a hot potato.

Speaker 9 (17:47):
Hunh yep, their liabilities.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
Mmmmm.

Speaker 5 (17:51):
You know what I'm jack, I'm in that boat leaving
both alone. Because that's a tough decision, you know, because
if buddy is nice with the computer, he can I've
seen it done.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
You can necess that.

Speaker 5 (18:02):
And then you know, and shorty, you know that ain't
a good friend. If you got doubts about your friend
like that already, man, he might not.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
That ain't a good friends the thing.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Trust your guy.

Speaker 6 (18:13):
So you knew in your gut that she was playing
in your face. Trust your man. Unless he came back
with the DMS. Like if you confronted him and he
pulled out his phone right then and showed it to you,
then I believe him. Now if he waited and was like, look,
you had to get in the lab. If he came
back two hours later, like I could prove it. I
mean he got in the lab and chopped them dms

(18:35):
up and leave his ass since he lied. If he
found the proof an hour later, he was he was
in there chopping it up.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
Could two things be true?

Speaker 9 (18:45):
Though?

Speaker 5 (18:46):
What could both of them be on bs and they playing,
both of them playing in our face? Dude could have
been out with other chicks and old girl could have
tried to shoot at him.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Yeah, but if she, if he made up DM he
and he lied, you didn't see what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (19:01):
Like if he made up, yeah, if he if he
if he if he was with the other chick, Yeah,
he out out there and he trying to cover it up.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
If he docked it up the d ms, now like
I said.

Speaker 6 (19:10):
If he pulled it out immediately and showed you, I
believe that if he said that, wait one second, he
went to the lab.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
All right, We hope we helped you. If we didn't,
we never do.

Speaker 4 (19:23):

Be a huge problem.

Speaker 5 (22:39):
We would only make the problem worse for the citizens
and not help all right. A six six eight eight
five one seven five. I personally, you know, don't think
it's that serious. I think, uh, it might sound crazy,
but we need to do a better job and.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
Preventive police work instead of reacting.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
You know, like when they talk about these flash mobs
and stuff on Facebook. You know, you know that stuff
is coming down. So have people on site, you know,
ready to deal with that. And like I said, preventive
and start you know, putting money, putting money in the communities.
You know what I'm saying, putting money in the communities. Man,
Let's open up some construction jobs and you know, anything

(23:21):
stuff like that. Nah, I'll be perfectly honest to On
the other side, unpopular opinion. I don't know's it's some
out there that I don't care how many jobs you
offer and how much revenue you shot put in their pocket.
They still gonna be on what they're gonna be on.
But I think that's the few compared to the many

(23:41):
that invested in the communities will help.

Speaker 6 (23:43):
I just think that I'm not gonna be oblivious to
the fact that there is we have crime and different things.
But I also look at a lot of times I
think our stuff is exaggerated.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
So if you look at if you look at.

Speaker 6 (23:56):
The stats, you know what I'm saying, per amount of
people that we have to live in the city, you're
not even in the top ten when it comes to viving
crimes and different things. Not saying that there aren't any issues,
but and that things don't happen.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
I understand that. But this is a huge city almost
there's three million people, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (24:14):
So a lot of times you hit these headlines, you
get these news they be like, oh, three people were
you know what I'm saying, And that sounds bad. I'm
not saying that it is. It is bad. Every life matters,
But I do I just worry about the National Guard
coming in because then that's just like to me, I
just feel like our do they have the proper training,
they don't de escalate situation? They don't, or will they

(24:36):
make it worse and then will it Well, our communities
just accept right, you know what I'm saying, Like, does
that come with extra harassment for people who aren't criminals?
Like stopping fresh and what does a let's ask the
National Guard in police and people who are doing this,
what's a criminal look like?

Speaker 1 (24:54):
What suspicions look like?

Speaker 5 (24:55):
Yeah, because everybody, everybody's gonna fall under the veil. Yeah,
that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (24:59):
So I just don't know if that if they have
to be training to de escalate.

Speaker 5 (25:03):
Well, you know what we would need, Well, soldiers are not.
Soldiers are not trained to like police officers are trained
when they come on the scene their business and find
out what's happening and de escalate the situation. Usually when
soldiers are called, it's it's a storm anyway, a sugar
honey iced ty storm anyway.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
So they come in there to stop the threat. So
a lot of soldiers are not.

Speaker 5 (25:23):
Trained to uh, hey guys, and they train that when
we get here, whatever is causing the problem, let's get
it out of their equation. So and I think that's
that'll be a bad thing too. But we want to
know what you all think. Sixty six A A five
one seven five. What are your thoughts on the National
Guard possibly coming to Chicago?

Speaker 4 (25:41):
Are you for it or are you against it? SI?

Speaker 1 (25:56):
This is in my hood, like Novoda, search out outside?

Speaker 4 (26:00):
Are turn the thousand?

Speaker 1 (26:02):
Let just catch out on the town.

Speaker 5 (26:04):
The bat got learnt that.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
Who is where you check it in from?

Speaker 8 (26:09):
Just on the south side? Is Norman Paul calling there?

Speaker 4 (26:12):
How you doing something?

Speaker 8 (26:13):
I'm just as I'm doing all right, man, I think
they should stay where they at. Come on making it
make sense? If you shit the National Guards, then how
the police gonna feel? They feel like we're stepping on
their toes and what And we're not doing our job.
People go to jail every day obviously they doing their job.
So National Guards hasted her or the city of Chicago.
We can handle our own business. You don't mean nobody
coming here stepping on our territory.

Speaker 5 (26:35):
Never never took it from that respective, So like you say,
the officers will be a little upset.

Speaker 8 (26:39):
Yes, it's just like I got police officer to my
family and got Cook Country cheffs. They go back and forth,
like the Cook County Sheriffs should not get paid as
much as they get paid because the police officers is
out here risinly lives every day in the Cook County
Sheriffs there's babysity, but they getting just as much money
as we getting. That's not fair. And that's the same thing.
How they gonna feel. Police gonna feel the same thing,
Like it's not sure for nobody coming out coming to honest,

(27:00):
he's trying to terrorize us. But like you say, they're
not gonna just terroorrafe the criminals. They're gonna carafe as people.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
Hey, yeah, I feel I feel what you're saying.

Speaker 5 (27:11):
But I got a little pushback on the Cook County
Sheriff to police officer thing because the Cook County sheriff
only thing that separate them from the prisoner as a uniform.
And you got two to three officers on the deck
with seventy five criminals that could go bad at any time.
So they put that they put their bodies and lives
on the line too, Maybe not in the same way,

(27:32):
but it's still it's still it's still a scary situation
to be behind the wall all day with somebody that's
gonna be there for the rest of their life.

Speaker 8 (27:41):
They got none to lose because they already locked.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
Up exactly exactly. Yeah, so I did it.

Speaker 5 (27:49):
But but thanks for you calling brob A six six
eight A five one seven five continue to hit us up.

Speaker 4 (27:55):

Speaker 3 (27:56):

Speaker 1 (28:20):

Speaker 3 (28:26):

Speaker 4 (28:27):
Where you checking in from?

Speaker 9 (28:28):
Hey, I'm checking in from the West side of Chicago.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Nicole.

Speaker 5 (28:32):
Okay, Nicole from the West Side. What do you think
about our sound off topic for today?

Speaker 9 (28:36):
I think personally that it may be a good thing
that National Guards come because we have no structure here.
You know, it's stuff happening everywhere and we need help.
People die every day, many more people you got to
get killed. Oh but nonsense, Our kids are leaving us
every day.

Speaker 6 (28:53):
Do you feel like we may with some people may
be unfairly targeted, because some communities may be unfairly targeted.

Speaker 9 (28:58):
Yeah, I do feel that, But at the same time,
I feel like, you know, like I said, our kids
are leaving us every day over gun violence. Like we
need some type of structure. These teenagers not listening to
their own parents. Their parents not caring, Like, what are
we supposed to do if they keep passing away and
getting killed?

Speaker 1 (29:16):
Just appreciate it.
