do to night, same thing we do every night, pinky
(00:41):
try to take over the world. All right, what's up
everybody and welcome. It is that time time for the
Fantasy Basebar with me Matt Striker and joining me as
always the one, the only, the guy that likes to
pick up over time and take shifts for all his
buddy does, no matter what he has to do in life.
(01:02):
Mike the Rohodo Cop going on man, not much. You
guys can follow me at Mike the Rhoto Cop on Twitter.
It's been exciting forty eight hours Matt since the last
time we spoke. Oscar Mercado got called up for the
Indians and Nicky Lopez got called up for the Royals,
Austin Riley is coming up to the Atlanta Braves, Chris
Sale had seventeen strikeouts, and Vladi Jr. Had two home runs. Now, Mike,
(01:25):
what is to tell you that I own every single name?
You just said? That tells me that you are ahead
of the curve. Yeah, now, so you you mentioned Mercado, Lopez, Riley,
Hera came up. So in the past, Uh, I'd say
twenty four hours, I've been really tinkering with my teams
because I have a problem. I have an addiction. Hi,
(01:47):
my name is Matt and I'm addicted to Fantasy Baseball.
That should be one of our commercials because anytime a
hot prospect comes up, especially a hitter, with the way
pitching has been going this year, I scrambled to own
this player. And sometimes times haste makes waste and I say, oh,
should I drop Brandon Nimoh should I drop Hernandez? And
I did for both of those guys, actually, and uh,
(02:10):
Hernandez is only disappointment is the position eligibility. But in
the past, like twenty four hours, my waiver wire has
been jumping, and uh, I want to know, do you
own any Mercado, any Lopez, any Heura, any Rodriguez, any
Riley as of this morning. Yeah, I went in on
Mercado and Lopez and my my daily Yahoo league Austin Riley.
(02:31):
I it happened while I was sleeping, so I missed
out on him. I missed out. I'm Keston, who are
at by three minutes yesterday? Actually three minutes I missed
out when that happens, And it was actually because my
my work schedule changed, And if it didn't change, I
believe that I would have got him when when the
news broke r even before the news broke that he
was definitely getting cold up. So I was a little
(02:52):
bummed out about that. Mercado and uh oh for yesterday
with three strikeouts, so he didn't look too great at
the play. Niki Lopez did get a base NOx, so
I was I was exciting, but I wanted a touch
on the vlad Junior trade that I discussed last episode
when I was offered fresh the listeners ahead. So I
was offered Tommy Fan, uh My, Tommy Fan and Mike
(03:12):
Chris Paddock for Vladimir Guarreo Jr. And Will Smith, and
I counter that and after a couple of counters. I
finally settled on my Mitch Hanigher and my Chris Paddock
for his Vladimir Guerreo Jr. And his Jordan Hicks. So
just a little display, a little disclaimer about the Yahoo leagues.
(03:34):
You only need seven innings minimum pitch for the Yahoo
pro Leagues, so it's a way different kind of format
than most people are used to. So having elite relief
pitchers kind of plays a big part. So I compare
Hicks now with my Edwin Diaz, Josh Hayter and Blake
Parker who's quietly having a very good season, Wow Wheeling
and Deal and Mike the Rhodo Cop. I guess you
(03:55):
realize that this owner was coveting Paddock. Throwing in Hanniger
as interesting because he has been underperforming as as the
team as of late. But you and I talked last
episode about holding onto Hanny, so that's interesting. But I
guess you really love getting Vlody and Hicks. I think
you win this trade room. Yeah, and then Vladi hit
the two homers last night, which I was happy about,
(04:16):
even though Hanninger has homer back to back games. But
I think, uh, let's take off time for Vladdy. Yeah,
and I started Vladdy yesterday. I put in two DFS
lineups and it's funny because I sat on these lineups
all day Estra Stack and on vlody. So so I'm
happy about that, But I don't want to lose sight
(04:36):
of what I think a lot of owners may be
going through right now, and that is looking on the waiver.
While you know we're coming up to Memorial Day, you
have all these young call ups. Do I drop this guy?
Do I pick up this guy? So on and so forth? So, um,
I want to know what is your waiver wire look
like in some of your leagues and is there a
guy or two out there that let's just go with
(04:57):
I don't know under own so for less than four
to ten people in a group will own this player.
Is there anyone that you can put our listeners onto
that that maybe uh sneaky sexy? Yeah, So keep in
mind all those guys who named above, if you're in
either Yahoo's CBSSPN leagues, who're not gonna be able to
get him on NFPC until Monday, So Monday's fab is
probably gonna be a crazy one. I like to look
(05:19):
at my Yahoo league to gauge the percentage Jones. So
one guy that's very very low and I'm sure it's
gonna rise throughout the weekend. Is I made these Diaz,
who's currently three percent on. He's eligible all over the diamond, first, second, third,
and short without two on the d L. The playing
times there he's he's homeworking three of his last four
games now nine RBIs in that span, and he's pretty
(05:40):
much on par with with league averages across the board.
He's going to Boston this weekend and he's missing Chris Sale,
so that's always a good sign. So I think I
made these Daz would be a hot pick up Wilmore
Flores as another bat who's eleven percent owned. He's eligible
at first, second, and third base. And it's kind of
weird because Flora isn't really a stack asked here as
(06:00):
I like to call him. His prophils are aren't jumping
off the page at you. But he did have a
three forty eight uh average draft price before the season,
and a lot of people got excited when he got
traded to Arizona. Lefty mass Her playing every day now.
He did start off slow, but the last fourteen days
coming into last night He's sixteen for forty two, which
is three and one with two homers, nine RBIs. He's
(06:21):
up to two eight d of the season. He's facing
the Giants this weekend. They're throwing Jeffson margin. I don't
even know if the Giants know who they're throwing the
rest of that series. But the position flexibility between those
two guys, I think those are two very good ads.
Before I get into a picture, I'll let you take
it away with your hitter's head. So I'm a big
fan of position eligibility, especially in daily leagues. That's why
(06:42):
I love players like Eco Good, Room Drifts and profile
kek Hernandez. Even though the last two guys I mentioned
have been disappointing me, but position eligibility is something that
I find intriguing and I also like so I like
a young guy, a guy no one knows. But at
the same time, it bothers me when this play air
ends up on say the Detroit Tigers, because I don't
(07:03):
know about the protection of the lineup. But I am
going to because I have just picked this guy up.
He's only owned in Yahoo leagues, and that's Ronnie Rodriguez.
He gives you all the infield position eligibility, he's been
fairly hot, and uh, I just think this is a
guy right now he's clubbing home runs and he's knocking
guys in. He strikes out a little bit too much
(07:23):
for for my enjoyment. But beyond that, I think Ronnie
Rodriguez is a guy that if you need someone and
you have the position eligibility, you go out and you
find him. What do you think? Yeah, I think Ryan
Riguez is definitely making a name for himself this year.
He is ops is over ten fifty at this point.
He's one of the bright spots in that in that
Detroit lineup so far. Yeah, also two other guys and
(07:47):
I'm split on them. When A. J. Pollock went down,
everyone was talking about Alex Verdugo getting the reps, and uh,
I just I don't know if Verdugo is going to
break out. I mean, all the metrics say he is,
and he's only owned in Yahoo League. So so there
might be a guy that you know, you get a
good lineup, you get a hot stud, you know he's
(08:08):
gonna have playing time. Thing of this nature. On the flip,
this guy's fifty owned. They know it goes against what
we're doing here. But you had brought him up and
he just homeward again, and that's Robbie. Toronto's on Houston
again a favorable lineup, and also the position captured does
not have a lot to offer. I think Mitchie Garford
just went down yesterday. So if you're in one of
(08:29):
these leagues and you're having some catcher issue when you're
trying to get productivity from a position that you normally
you know, don't win or lose leagues on, maybe Toronto's
might be a good fit. Your thoughts on Verdugo and Saroni's, Yeah,
Verdugo is interesting because at the beginning of the season
he wasn't facing left hand and pitching, and he finally
the Dodgers finally came around to putt him in the
lineup and he strived. He's had a really good year
(08:50):
so far, and he's definitely shown a lot of potential
in uh in l A. As far as Chernos goes,
he's been a top ten catcher pretty much since the
start of the season. I know there's a couple of
guys up there, like James McCann is in three sixties six.
He's only forty four percent on. I think we discussed
him on the previous show Omar Novayez, Mitch Garver, like
you said, got hurt yesterday. So Catcher hasn't really been
(09:12):
uh what we expected as far as the top ten goes.
But Torino should should ride that way the whole entire season.
One UM one picture. I wanted to get to who's
forty two percent on? I'm sorry for for breaking the
rules here, Matt. But Spencer Turnbull, who I really think
is very under under owned a forty two pent in Yahoo,
forty four point two winnings, forty four strikeouts to two
(09:34):
four two e r a one point two one whip.
So he's got a four seam sinker slider change up
ninety four on the fastball VELO average for the fourth seam,
his o swing, first bitch strike and swinging striker take
a tack above league average, and he's his next His
next three starts are home against Oakland, on the road
against Miami, and on the road against the Orioles, so
(09:55):
those are three stars. He should definitely definitely striving. And
if you want to pick up Spencer turn but not
just for his next start, but for the two after
I think that would definitely be a good idea. Yeah,
as far as pitching goes, it's it's a fluid situation.
And I can tell you to go grab a Kyle
Gibson who pitched, uh pretty decently as the last start
against the Angels, pitched really well against the Blue Jays,
(10:17):
and his start before that. His next start coming up
is on the road at Seattle. Uh. There isn't a
lot of sexy on the on the pitching waiver wire,
which is how it should be. Um, you know, so
I'm gonna really refrain and I'll just kind of tag
onto what Mike said about Spencer Turnbull. I have had
him and used him in a streaming situation. He's certainly
someone that is uh, that is worth a look anyone
(10:39):
else that you think is out there on the waiver
wire aside from and look, don't sleep. Mercado may still
be open in your league. Lopez may still be opening
your league. Riley. People may not have have even listened.
You look at my waiver wire and you can see
the times that I make my moves. You can tell
that I'm a loser. You can tell that I'm up
at two fifty in the morning while my Coward is
(11:01):
a sleet nets to me and I'm just strolling the
waiver wire. Some people troll Tinder. I trolled the waiver wire.
Um anybody else there? Mike, not much. Corbin Martin's thirty
nine percent on. I think he's just he's a definite.
Shawn Anderson's making his debut for the Giants this week.
He's at three percent on. Still, I'm sure that will
go up if he has a good start. Obviously, Garcia
(11:22):
is twelve percent on. He's he's having a breakout of
the year considering what he did last year. He's hitting
three hundred seven homers, seventeen albies and and three swipes.
Even so, that would be a guy to to ride
while he's hot. Other than that, I don't see too
much out here. Um Griffin Canning, you could give another go.
He's starting against Kansas City this week. He's only twenty
(11:43):
two percent on. He's had some flashes, but other than that,
I don't know. I don't see much of you. One thing,
Mike and I take seriously our our sabor metrics. When
I first started to get into sabor metrics, I'll be honest,
I did not understand what a lot of these things
meant and I started to go into the ab to tinker.
And that's where Mike and I are going right now,
(12:04):
All right, mont roto cop Metright, You're going to the lab.
We break down a metric that some of you may
hear but really not know what it means. And those
of you that do know what it means, you have
an extreme advantage over those that don't. Mike and I
in the past have discussed fifth and how it really
affects a picture. It gives you a better picture. Uh.
(12:24):
Last week we discussed WHOBA and how that gives you
a much better picture. This week we are going to
discuss BABIT, which stands for batting average on balls in play,
the balls and B A B I P. And basically,
if I'm explaining this to Michael's mother, definitely the road
out cop Hello, you have not seen me in a
(12:46):
few episodes. I've been working. I've been going to costco.
Let me tell you, Michael is eating me out of
house and home. If I am explaining bab it to Beverly,
the roto cop it basically is how often a ball
in play goes for a hit. Now, Mike, you and
I talked about this. I think bab it's important because
it basically it takes away defense, luck, things like that
(13:11):
and just really takes into consideration what a ball does
once it leaves a player's bat. Um. Can you give
us a quick little intro on your thoughts on Babbit,
why you use it, etcetera. Yeah, I think it's definitely
a good determination of where to predict. I know you
can't predict it on the nose, but to predict how
a player's season is going to go through the ups
and downs. This is kind of your your brain child here,
(13:34):
Matt the Lab. And even though we're doing bad today,
which some people might might might look at as a
as a more basic tool that they could use, some
people out there don't don't use it. So that's the
that's the goal. In this segment and throughout the weeks,
we're gonna be going in depth on different different metrics
that you could use to determine the future of try
and predict the future out as very best as you can.
(13:55):
As far as Babbit goes, there's a lot of things
to keep in mind. And I know I know you
know this, and I know most listeners out there know this,
But for those who don't. So when you're talking about
pictures and their babbits, a picture, even a batter with
a specific batted profile, a battaball profile, whether it be groundballs, flyouts,
line drives, might be prone to hire or lower babbits.
(14:16):
So that's something to keep an eye on. And it's
not necessarily a sign a look. But if a babbit
is higher or lower than a career average, but if
it's substantially different than it usually is. So if you've
got a guy like David Doald this year who's bad
up is up above four hundred, that's an extreme so
obviously that's gonna regress. But for guys like uh, Mike Trout,
who's babbits around three fifty every year, he's one of
(14:37):
the best hitters in the league, that's gonna be staggnant
almost because he's such a good hitter. So unless David
dal turns into Mike Trout, that bob is gonna dip
a lot in the in the near future. And the
highest um I believe it was the highest babbit ever
with for a player with more than four thousand career
played appearances, it's three eight, So I don't know what
(14:57):
Trouts is at the moment, but I'm sure he'll be
around that, So that's that's just a gauge to determine
bab um. One other very key note is that before
Babib stabilizes, it needs a large sample, So you can't
be done with small sample sizes when you're talking about Babbitt.
So research shows that eight hundred balls in play for
a hitter stabilize and two thousand for a picture to stabilize,
(15:19):
So just keep that in mind. Also when you're when
you're looking at bab and trying to figure out if
a player is going to go on a hot street
or gonna go cold. Just it takes a big sample
size to to really evaluate Babbitt. And that's why Babbo
is so great because of the large sample size. A
lot of times. And listen, I took statistics four times
in college and not because I liked the class Wink wink.
(15:40):
So basically, you need a large sample size to truly
give value to a statistic um. And you threw out
these great numbers with with Dolly leading and trouts consistency,
basically the the average just three D on Babbitt. So
now you have a gauge on what to look at.
If a guy's babbitt was too sixty, then you have
to look at some of the other things going on.
(16:03):
Is he invents guys have really good luck as you're
playing against a great defense. Things of this nature. Three
hundred is usually the barometer where guys are going to
settle into. Now you mentioned for pictures as well, that
there is a babbit listeners. Basically, what a lot of
these metrics do is they look at what happens once
the ball is out of control of the player, and
(16:24):
that's something we need to take into consideration here. Once
the ball leaves the back of a batter, we have lit.
I could go one for five in a game. You
could look at the box cord and say, oh, strikers
stakes hit two hundreds. But you don't see is that
Mike made three diving plays at second and short because
he shifted on me or whatever. That doesn't show up
in a box ward. That will show up in your
(16:45):
babbit and it will give you a much better indicator
as to the hitter's propensity for reaching bates is based
successfully and having a successful um, what's the word. I'm
looking for a successful event as he steps up to
the plate as far as the pick here goes, ball
leaves his hand, and that's fit More than this, he
really has nothing he can do. So it's not to
(17:07):
say that some pictures can't control their babbit. I'm reading
this off for fan grass Clinton Kershaw, for example. Have
you heard of him, Mike, Yes, I have actually beat
our guy Chris Paddock last night. He beat our guy,
and then you traded our guy. Clinton Kershaw typically has
a lower than average babbit because he's a flyball pitcher
right flyball's ball for hits less off than the ground balls.
And he also has a high strike out rags and
(17:28):
he has a long history of limiting opposing babit. But
most pictures, year to year, the babbit doesn't tell you
much about their future babbit, and Mike pointed that out.
So use babbit in large sample sizes to get a
better view of what a hitter or a picture does,
but be careful about trying to predict. Use these tools,
(17:48):
but don't necessarily rely only on them. Anything else you
want to add to that, bad No. I just wanted
to give a quick example of a guy who will
probably go down in average is I'm that Rosario currently
has a three seventy one bad but which is good
for like top fifteen in the league right now, and
he's in two eighty four, So obviously, I'm med Rosario
(18:09):
is not gonna have a three seventy one ball this season.
He had a three ten last year over a hundred
fifty four games and almost six hundred plate appearances, and
he finished with the two fifty six average. So that
two eighty four average out of med Rosario sporting right now.
I know there's some speed involved in that and a
lot of ground balls, but that that two eighty four
is really gonna take a dip, and I would expect
it to come soon as uh as a tougher pitching
(18:31):
ahead and for the Mets. Alright, Mike and I gon
exit the lab. Sometimes Mike likes to stay behind. He's
watched too much Breaking Bad, but that is for another episode. Mike,
you like when I make these timely television references. They're
very good. You're not You're not dating yourself for any means?
I like them? Are there are other things in your
life that that give you joy outside of DFS and
(18:53):
fantasy baseball? Yeah? They usually involve sports. The nixt not
getting the number one pick is not one of those
things that that hurt. See the Pelicans get number one
and the Knicks probably lose out on Zion Williamson and
Anthony Davis all in a matter of five seconds there.
So that was Yeah, that was typical Knicks. But uh,
(19:14):
and the Warriors winning last night, I wasn't too happy
about either. I'm ready to see that that dynasty come
to an end, but that's not happening anytime soonbody. The
Blazers didn't have any sense of urgency last night, so
that that kind of hurt as well. And then Chris
Paddock got tagged up. So last night wasn't the greatest
night ever, that's for sure. Well, hopefully tonight and tomorrow
(19:35):
I will be better for you because there are a
lot of d f S options. So let's go in
right now to the DFS world. All right, Today Slate
is intriguing to me. I do want to try to
avoid the obvious. And the obvious that I see is
there is a double header. Uh Is that true? Yes? No,
that is not that is true. Yeah, you got Jay
(19:58):
Hopp going it's David Hessan Domingo Herman going against Andrew
cash Er, are you on either Yankee Rubber Guy or
any Yankee stacks today? Yeah, Domingo Harman is actually my
picture of choice for today. Before I get into Domingo Harman,
I just want to throw out there before I before
it gets lost in the podcast world. My two picks
(20:19):
last week for my two picks on Monday for DFS
where Marlon Gonzalez on Monday and Calton Wong on Tuesday.
Mar Gonzalez one for four with the homer and two
RBIs Monday. Calton Wong went two for five with the
homer and three RBIs on Tuesday. So both of the
picks homer. So all that means is Venmo, meet your
money and I'll take half of whatever you want. Domingo
Herman starting the first game of the double header against
(20:41):
the Orioles today, and I owned him everywhere in UH
season long leagues. He's having a phenomena or two point
seventy or right innings pitch forty four strikeouts, he has
seven wins already, seven and one, and he's sporting a
four seam sinker change up curve. All those pictures are
plus pitches. His curve bow, especially as a pitch value
of six on five with the one eleven batting average
(21:02):
against on his curveball, plus chase rate plus doing a
strike rate, and the Orioles really have three problems. It's curveballs,
chasing pitches, and whiffs, and Dominor Hamman has the makeup
to get them to do all three. And like I said,
he has all the tools for just the year old.
I would definitely roster him today against the Orioles. I
don't know what's your picture for today. Yeah, So I
(21:23):
just want to say that to all the listeners, everything
that Mike and I talked about in DFS, I put
my money where my moth is and I laid my
money down on a lot of our picks. And yeah,
in the last few days I mentioned that I paid
for Mother's Day dinner like a baller, and I sat
out Monday yesterday I did well. I just think that
if you listen and you play your money right, and
(21:43):
you put in one or two wine ups, don't go crazy,
you're going to win month. I mean, I had a
friend Jay who only wins like five bucks every time,
and that's good for him. But then you know, if
if you're a big boy and you want to win
a couple of hundred bucks a day. That's a car payment,
that's that's grocery shopping. That's a night out to dinner
with your girl, unless you go out with my girl,
(22:03):
and then that's just drinks. All right. Um, I'm getting
a little chalky here, but I do see that Justin
Verlander is going against the Tigers. I think he's gonna
have motivation. Six and one or two point five e
r A six GG strikeouts fitching against Gregory Soto, who
I think I may or may not have went to
high school with the kid named Gregory Soto. Uh sot
(22:24):
r A. I think Verlander. I'm almost afraid because I
think Verlanders seems too easy of a pick looking at
some of the other games. Maybe, Mike Sarroca, although the
Cardinal bats are hot, um, beyond that, there there's really
nothing other than what you mentioned. Uh maybe no, maybe not. Yeah,
(22:44):
that that's really it. That's what I like today as
far as pictures go. What kind of hitters do you
like today, Mike, I gotta hit it for Thursday. Yeah,
for Thursday, which is tomorrow. Alex Gordon against lance Lynn
Gordon is ten for nineteen against Lynna. Usually I would
say this is kind of an obvious one, but it
is just too good to stay away because Gordon's experiencing
(23:06):
a career resurgence to seven eight homers. Thirty one rbisent
on X well, but seventy six percent on X slugging,
which might not seem like numbers that jump off the page,
but for Alex Gordon definitely jumps off the page. Lancelin
has a five point four A d r A this
year with the whip of one point five and forty
seven innings. Somehow he has four winds, don't ask me how.
(23:27):
He does have a decent pitch mix and he does
throw hard, but he just can't get enough swings and
misses and doesn't get hitters to chase. So Gordon should
be relatively cheap tomorrow. I think that's a good play.
Um Hunter Pence is also a good play. Marcel Zun
is a good play. And for the picture for tomorrow,
I'm gonna double down on Spencer Turnbull, who I mentioned before,
and I really think he's gonna do very well against Open.
(23:48):
So if you, if you still have the opportunity, you
get Spencer Turnbull, I would go after it. Alright, some
hitters that I like for today, And again the lineups
aren't out, but I just see that Andrew mccutcheons numbers again,
Geo Gonzalez are very very good. I also see that
Ryan Braun who it's funny and he's available in one
of my leagues, and I'm just like, how do I
not pick him up? He just really seems to to
(24:10):
be hitting a lot of home runs facing Jake Arietta.
So so he's an interesting guy for me to take
a look at. That would be for today. For tomorrow,
you mentioned him, So what do you want me to do?
You still my thunder. I do like Marcello zu and
I like his numbers very much. Um and I also
think Cardinal Backs are hot right now. They put up
a ten or twelve runs last night. Something like that.
(24:32):
I don't know because I don't live on this planet.
And other than I don't Other than that, you had mentioned, Hey,
maybe Adam there you go. Maybe Adam Eaton is sexy
against Zach Wheeler for tomorrow. It's a one o'clock game,
so that could be something. Also with my dfs, I
like to see what time the game started. I don't
want to wait a round until seven o'clock to start
(24:54):
biting my nails and care at the one o'clock game.
You know, especially tomorrow here in New York is gonna
be very very ice. It will be a nice study day.
I can win some money there. Uh, pictures for the
tomorrow matchup you had given yours? Um, honestly, nothing really
jumps off the page. Maybe Marcus Stroman at the White Sox,
(25:14):
he said, with a question mark. Beyond that, nothing is
really that's sexy to me. You gave your pictures for tomorrow.
Let me just do a quick look at the probable
pictures from MLB dot com. We have Zach wheel Are
going against Annie Sanchez knows, Zach Navies against Zach Eflin. No,
Chris Bassett against our famous TB d That might be
a good one. Chris Bassett against Tiger Bats, Kintana and Castillo.
(25:37):
That should be fun. Oh how about this one? I
almost think this should be off the board. Trevor Bauers
facing the Orioles. Um, how about Trevor Bauer versus anyone?
The oriole might flan again. I don't care who they
throw out there. I think it would be expensive. You're
definitely gonna pay for it. Yeah, definitely, definitely be expensive.
(25:58):
Beyond that way, No against Ron Dylan Covey starting against
the Blue Jays, against Swanson Williams against Lower maybe, but yeah,
those are my my pictures for tomorrow. So we've given
you dfs for today hitters and pictures, dfs for tomorrow
hitters and pictures. Mike is begging you to give him
ten percent. I say, other than that, what do you
(26:21):
What do you got? Mikey got not much. Paddock says,
it'll be fun to watch my next start. That's all
I gotta say, and then one of the l A
fans commented, it's fun. It's fun watching tonight's game, That's
all I gotta say. So I thought that was pretty funny. Um,
huge day for for wrestling. A W is going to TV,
t N T or TBS, t N, t t N,
(26:44):
T t NT back on t NT. Right, that's where
w CW was when I was probably ten years old.
I think, wasn't you see that? Maybe they were on
the National Network, but either way, it is in the
Turner family, and it's nice that Turner wants to get
back into wrestling, and I think it's great the guys
over to a W two have. That's the one thing
that anyone that tries to challenge Vince McMann at w
(27:05):
W you cannot do it without major television. You just can't.
And we've seen it. I love Ring a bnor, but
how many people have that channel? I love Impact, But
if you ask me where to watch it, I mean
I know where to watch it, but he asked the
average guy on the street where to watch it, it's difficult.
Even luch underground and it's primed, people would go, oh,
(27:26):
L Ray network, what is that? Do I get that
everyone gets T n T. I think it's part of
basic cable. So I think that in and of itself
makes a e W incredibly viable. Earl he is now
only he will be a referee for a W. I
don't know if you saw that. Yeah, I saw that
they were announcing referees. A couple of my friends, Rick Knox,
(27:47):
Paul Turner, now Earl Hevner. Uh. You know, to the
listener out there, it's interesting and pro wrestling, a good
referee can can make a match the same way a
bad umpire can make a So having a referee that
you know is competent and also, listen, I know when
I was wrestling all the time, I knew which rest
which referees were not as bright as others. I knew
(28:10):
one referee was legally blind in his left eye. So
anytime I was gonna, you know, cheat or whatever, I'd
make sure I did it on the left side of
this particular referee. There's a lot of interesting things that
that go into, uh, the referee for the match. Let
me let me ask you a question, since you're an insider,
what is Earl? Haven't there the best referee of all time? Listen?
(28:31):
Best is a subjective term. What is the criteria? What
are you asking? What are you looking for? What makes
a good referee? If you're putting together your dream match
between any two wrestlers that ever lived, and you needed
a referee to ref that match, who would you pick?
That's a great question. I have always enjoyed a guy
named Mike Kyota from w w E. He was kind
(28:52):
of a very lenient ref He's one of these let
these kids play, he lets the guys fight. And then
there's are other referees that they're just you know, real sticklers,
like a guy named Micky Henson. He was Mickey j Man.
Even if you made a fist, he'd step right in
front of you and go, oh, you can't do that.
He would make sure your tape was proper. He would
make sure that your your boots were laced right. So
it depends on who I'm wrestling. If I'm wrestling like
(29:12):
a curd angle and I just I need all the
help I can get, then you know, maybe I grab
a Nickpatrick or someone like that. But if I just
want to go out there, and Scott Armstrong was my
referee for WrestleMania, and he just let those guys kick
the crap out of me. So, um, I don't know,
that's a good question. I'd have to think about that.
That's what I did. I come up with good questions. Yeah,
(29:34):
once once in a lifetime to come up with the question.
So yeah, a w has TV um to be interesting
to see which day they fall on. I'm actually heading
out to Las Vegas for the Double or Nothing week
long of events and podcast ROW will be star cast.
I may have to do a Fantasy Baseball Hour Alive
(29:55):
from there. I know that you can't get out to
Vegas because you'll be busy protecting the world. I wish
I wish also, but listen, you you do a great
service to everybody and we appreciate you. UM. A lot
going on, so there's wrestling, and there's basketball, and there's football.
But for me, right now, it's the perfect time for
(30:15):
baseball because come July or August, a lot of shows
are gonna shift their gears towards fantasy football. And I
think right now this is where people are gonna win
and lose their leads. And it's because of things we
talked about, working your waiver wire while everyone else is
out there living their life. UM, you know, things like that.
(30:35):
I also like to watch who does people in my
league dropped? You know, I really watched the waiver wire,
not just for who I can pick up, but who
did Mike drop? Oh look at that he dropped. I'm
making it up. Kent to my Aida. I'm gonna put
a bid on Kent to my aid because Mike's an idiot.
Things of this nature I think are very very important.
How often do you watch your waiver wire every day? Um?
(30:59):
And one of my n F see lings, Corey Klueber,
was dropped on Sunday night, So that's definitely gonna be
an interesting fab fab Sunday, especially with all the work
he's coming up. I don't know how much I'm gonna
bid on Clueber. I haven't decided yet. I'm definitely gonna
throw a bit out there because he could he could
take you to the next level if he comes back
and by the end of the year, and it is
the Corey Clubber that we know. So I'm always watching
(31:21):
the waiver a while. I'm always watching who people drop,
not just who people had, but who people drop. Yeah,
and uh, when I see a guy dropped, I want
to know, what does this owner know that I don't.
You know, it's not lost on me that I don't
know everything. Unlike Mike, who you cannot have a conversation.
He's like my mother, no matter what you talk about.
He's got a better at love people like that. But
(31:43):
I like to look at the metrics and see, oh,
he dropped him, because these numbers indicate this. And I
don't want to be the goof that goes and picks
him up. But one man's uh flore as another man's stealing?
Is that a thing? Um, Mike, I'm trying to come
up with and I have been for for a minute now.
We want to come up with some kind of advanced
(32:04):
metrics for wrestling. How often Cody Rhodes hits his dropkick
versus how often he throws it? I think that's actually
a genius. Nobody's done that. I know. How many times
does Seth Rollins go for a cover in a match
versus how many times? You know how quickly the match
ends thereafter? Do you realize this comic? Us? Rich? Okay,
(32:24):
so here we are. It's proprietary, I own it. How
do we do this? How do we come up with
I don't know, but I will think every day for
the next week to find out, because that is exactly
what wrestling needs that revolutionize the business. If there's a
match going on the screen, and you know how like
in the NBA when a guy's tripling towards the hoop
and the percentage goes closer, and yeah, where go You
(32:47):
know exactly what I'm talking about, right, So, yes, exactly.
But like if Seth Rollins goes for a pin in
the first minute of the match, and you can put
up the percentage on the screen and a say like
seven percent success, right, Seth Rollins wins matches on first pin,
like as the pins going on second pin seth Ron's
wins of his matches using on a second pin attempt.
(33:11):
You know, now, when I was in w W, I
brought forth this idea and it was it was shot down.
I wanted to do fantasy wrestling, but the problem that
I run into, and let's just be honest here, the
outcomes are not as authentic as baseball outcomes. But you
can bet on wrestling, so you can, then you could
do fantasy wrestling. You're allowed to bet on wrestling, you can.
(33:33):
But if I'm if if if John Cena versus match Striker,
you're an idiot. If you bet on match striker, what
you have to bet on is how much offense does
match striker get in? How many times does match striker
go for an arm drag? Prop bets almost are the
way to make money on on fantasy wrestling, as opposed
to John Cena is gonna win. A wrestler's propensity for
(33:56):
doing something is something that you could calculate and try
to put a number on. So I'm glad you like this.
I'm glad you're gonna be thinking about this like a
mad man. Well, now we have a connection to tow
Cody Roads and a w maybe this is something that
we could tinker with and and pitch, you know, and
added to their broadcast. I don't make their broadcast different.
(34:18):
You don't think it would. I think it would. But
it's actually really interesting, and I think I'm gonna go
and call somebody right now. I actually you have to
be honest with um, like before we go. So when
I was younger, I used to wear a lot of
wrestling apparel. My good friends over Pro Wrestling Tease dot
Com really make some great stuff. But now more than ever,
(34:41):
I like to wear baseball apparel. Are you a baseball
apparel guy? Yes? I am. What do you like to wear?
Who do you like to wear? I'm more of a
jersey kind of guy. The church jersey is is really
my thing. There's not too many places you can go
around wearing baseball jerseys, in my opinion, except when you
undercover police officer at work. Those guys were a lot
(35:02):
of baseball jerseys. So that's why I've always wanted to
go in the cover so I could walk around in
a Felix Fernandez jersey in the middle of New York City.
So I thought that like, like like that doesn't scream
cop right there. That to all of our degenerates watching.
Anytime you see a grown man in the baseball jersey
walking around, you might want to assume that he's undercover.
(35:24):
But yeah, like I said, I'm more of a jersey guy.
So there's a jersey of a player that I like,
I will definitely go out there and get it. Yeah,
there's a lot of good a lot of good friends
that we have out there in the social media world.
And as the weeks roll on, will be doing giveaways
and we'll be doing uh order, what does it? Use
this promo code to get x percent off of it?
(35:45):
You can tell I'm already gonna be Yeah, I'm gonna
be a great pitch man, Like use the code Mike's
mother to get percent off a Christmasticks jersey. I too,
I like jerseys as well. I think they're pretty cool.
But what I like is when, like you just said,
so I live in New York, of course I'm gonna
see and it annoys me when I see the name
on the back of a Yankee shirt. So I'll see
(36:07):
twenty seven Stanton and his name isn't on the back
of the you know, stop it. I want to find
a Chris Stabo T shirt. I want to find a
Tony Gwyn T shirt. That, to me is what's cool.
And I always have my girlfriend scouring the interwebs to
try to find me stuff. But it's only kids sizes
and that will only fit you, not everybody's at w
(36:29):
W wrestler former w W wrestler. This is true. This
is true, all right. So we've gone over the waiver wire.
We've gone over what babbit means, We've gone over the DFS.
We've gone over what closed Mike likes to wear. We've
gone over some wrestling. We put out some ideas for
some metrics, Mike, anything else that you want to do
before we let the kids go on with their day. No,
