All right, it's Dr Rodo. Get out the insurance cards,
(00:23):
get out the code page offices open, my friends. Got
a lot to talk about today, some football, some baseball,
Gray al Bridal John me later. You know it's it's
it's a busy day, you know, you know, you think
it's like February, you know what's going on, But there's
football news like every minute really is. So let's let's
(00:44):
take a look what's going on to some football news
which I thought was very interesting here. So firstly, um,
Hunter Henry looks like he's going to get the franchise tag.
I think the Chargers are in a little bit of
this array here. Philip Rivers won't be back. Hunter Henry
is going to get the franchise tag. You know, the
(01:05):
players hate the franchise tag. Got to see what happens there.
So secondly, Sammy Watkins, he's not coming back at fourteen
mill He's not coming back. Now, let me tell you
something that you guys may not know about Sammy Watkins
because I told driving Inside Scoop on Sammy Watkins, his cousins,
(01:26):
my bank teller. Sammy is not about the money. Sammy
is about being happy, the comfort. I mean, he's not
gonna play for free. But don't be shocked to see
Sammy stay where he is and take like eleven mill
as opposed to being on the open market for fifteen
(01:50):
or sixteen mill right. I just think that's probably what's
gonna happen. I think he's gonna end up staying. Maybe
they give a little bit more money guaranteed. Maybe it's
a two year, two million dollar contract. He stays with
the team. He's happy, they try to win some championships together.
He's got Tyreek, he's got Kelsey, He's got other things
(02:11):
like that. Right, So he wants he wants to be happy,
to be comfortable. And I think that's what's gonna happen.
That's my guess. Now, remember something else that came out.
There's something else that came out. Did you here? I
(02:33):
don't know if you guys saw this. Now. I know
we spoke about this. I told you a couple of
weeks ago that I knew somebody who knew somebody right
who said that Tom Brady might end up with the Titans.
And I don't know if you saw this. Appearing on
(02:56):
The Rich Eyes and Show last week, Adam Schefter stated
he expects that Tiean's to be in on the mix
for Tom Brady. And then he said his friend at ESPN,
Jeff Darlington's handicapped the Titans as the favorites right now.
Oh my god, where did you get this news from? First?
(03:17):
A couple of weeks ago? Right here for me, Darlington
says Titans one, Raiders to Patriots three. Don't believe that
for a second. The Raid. He's not going to the Raiders.
Not going to the Raiders. Trust me on this. He
(03:39):
wants to win. He's not winning with the Raiders. Tom
Brady going to one of two places. One stay in
New England or to go to Tennessee. And Tennessee's got
a lot of balls in play. Why because Derrick Henry
has got to get paid and Tom Rady He's not
(04:00):
going to Tennessee unless Derrick Henry yet, unless Derrick Henry
is there, trust me on that Derrick Henry is not
in Tennessee. You will not see TB twelve. It'll be
t B D not TB right because there's no way,
no way Brady's going there without Derrick Henry. He needs
(04:23):
Derrick Henry. He needs the running game, he needs it.
Titans are playoff ready, right? They got there? There there?
What do you call that with the key? The key ready? Boom,
come right in, open the door, boom, boom, boom right
in win. Who knows that they are with the Patriots.
(04:45):
So I thought that was interesting. There's a lot of news.
I'm telling you, there's a lot of news. How about
news that actually surprised me today in the NFL that
my new team And if you guys know, listen to
the show. You don't have a new team right now
out the Giants are poo poo. I'm done with them.
(05:05):
But my new team, the Carolina Panthers have said that
Cam Newton will be their starting quarterback. Ian rabb Report
reports the Panthers are moving forward with Cam Newton as
the team's starting quarterback. At rules happy going to be cleared.
(05:31):
Could you trade on what are you gonna get for him?
Got a little bit more left on his deal? You
see what he can do. But Carolina goes and gets
a backup just in case. This year, Matt Rule will
draft somebody he likes. Right, Matt Rule draft somebody likes
Will Greer. Bye bye, Kyle Allen, Bye bye. Maybe Kyle
(05:52):
maybe one of those two sticks around. I don't know.
I think Matt Rule brings in somebody he likes just
in case. But Cameron Newton, we'll be a panther again.
Probably a good move. I mean, look, I don't really
like Cam Newton, you know that. But he's good for
the city. Fans love him. He's an athlete, and are
(06:16):
there that many better guys out there? You see what
you can do with Cam Newton. He's a winner. Say
what you will, but he's a winner, all right. Trent Williams.
Trent Williams is making nicely nicey with the Redskins. He
and Ron rivera of like smoking piece pipe and it's
(06:39):
all cool. And now they just gotta figure out how
to pay the dude. Only financial issues standing the way
of Trent Williams returning to the team. Now, this is crazy.
After this guy's like, I will never play for this
team ever ever again. Look, if you're gonna say something
like that, dude, file through come on, don't just say
(06:59):
it me name. If I say I'm never gonna work
for you again, I'm never gonna work for you again.
Not I'm never gonna work for you again. But if
you pay me a little bit, will come back. You know.
I can't take your threat so seriously anymore. Trent Williams.
But look, Ron Rivera did the right thing. Trent Williams
a great player. You need him right, You need him
(07:22):
and you without him you got nothing. You get no
offensive line. With him, you got Joyne Haskins has to
stay vertical because he's not very good. So when he's
running for his life, and the fact that he's not
good is it makes it worse. So at least if
he can stand upright, he's got a shot, all right.
(07:44):
Joe Burrow said he's gonna play with whoever drafts me. Davin.
He's from Ohio, since now he's gonna draft him. This
is not rocket science. This is easy peasy, easy peasy.
He ends up there, hometown boy. I'm happy for him,
all right. My former team, the Giants, Dave Gentleman said,
(08:07):
the team is open for business, open for business. Well, duh,
you already have a quarterback and there's a bunch of
teams who want a quarterback. You're gonna trade out off.
If you don't trade out from the fourth spot, you
(08:28):
may be the worst general manager in the history of
NFL and the history of the NFL. If you don't
trade out of this spot when you don't need a
quarterback and all these teams do, you are the worst.
You are officially the worst. I can't wait for that
day to happen. I just believe in my heart of
hearts it's gonna happen. That's why I can't root for
(08:50):
the Giants, because I bet you, gentleman's be like, well,
I really don't get the value I wanted, so we
took Isaiah Simmons linebacker. Really, no team in the NFL
offered you what you wanted. Don't you just know that's
going to happen? Seriously, it's cringe e But the Giants
(09:10):
have a pick that's movable. Same thing with Detroit. Detroit
and the Giants, they have their quarterbacks. Open for business,
open for business, all right. The Buccaneers have said that
the team is more than excited about what O. J.
Howard can do and his and the Bruce Arians offense
(09:33):
I'm not that excited. I've seen what what O. J.
Hied can do in this offense. Nothing. I think the
Buccaneers need to move this guy. I do. I think
the Buccaneers need need to move this guy. I think
he's got huge trade value around the league. You don't
think that the Patriots would give up a big pick
for him? For sure? This guy could be a monster.
(09:55):
I just don't think Bruce arians Ever likes using the
tight end. He used tith Miller begrudgingly because Ben Roethlisberger
wanted to throw to him. Jamis Winston is not fighting
for O. J. Howard, So I don't know how I
feel there. But there is a report of another tit
end that may be on his way out, Hayden Hurst
maybe out of out of Baltimore. Hayton Hurst maybe out
(10:20):
of Baltimore. And you know what, I like him, by
the way, next year in fantasy if he gets traded.
I'm in kind of like Trey Burton. When Trey Burton
went from the Eagles to the Bears. I was in
the same thing with Ayton Hurst. Where he goes, I
will follow, all right, that's a lot of football when
I come back, A lot of baseball. That's right, Fantasy Baseball,

(11:28):
All right, we're back, Dr Rhodo with your hair full
time Fantasy. All right. Fantasy Baseball news Courting Joe Sherman
of the New York Post, The Mets are considering going
without an official fifth starter and instead focusing on the
best matchups. Interesting, So the Mets are gonna have Jacob
(11:50):
deGrom one Noah's Sender God to Marcus Stroman three, Rick
Porcello four, and now they've got Mats or Michael Waka
bumb Maybe they go with Seth Lugo as an opener.
(12:11):
I don't know, man, I kind of like putting mats
out there every fifth day. I'm not really a fan
of Michael Walker, waka waka walka walka Walker, but this
is where teams are trying to be inventive. Look, you're
late to the party. Tampa Bay is already more inventive
than you are. Oh, hold off on our fifth starter.
(12:33):
Let's see what's going on there. Oh, where the Mets
were interesting? You're not that interesting. It's been done before.
I mean, the Mets at least have some depth now,
but Walk is not very good. I still think you
want to see if Steven Matts can give you five
to six innings. I've start that dude gives you five
to six in things very start. You are thrilled, thrilled, thrilled.
(12:57):
You get a hundred and fifty innings from Steven Matts done, seriously,
what more could the Nets one? You get one fifty
from him, You get a buck eighty from the Gram
maybe more. Synder Guard and Stroman give you about one.
You're you're you got some, you got a shot, you
(13:19):
got a shot. I don't want to use Lugo or
Zelman as oprahs. I want to do it. I want
to use them later in the game with Patances. I
want to make it so that these guys can throw
six innings and then the bullpen comes in for the
last three. Those the Yankees have perfected this. See, the
(13:41):
Yankees have perfected the way to win in baseball. You
have a great bullpen, a top notch closer, and you
have starters that give you six innings. And then you
have like one big guy. I mean, you have cole In,
the oldest Sabino you know had when he was healthy,
right long time ago. But you know, Tanaka goes six,
(14:04):
Half goes six, Montgomery goes six. It's all good. Turn
the ball over, Chad Green's there, Conley's there, Avino and
you're winning games. Yankees always did that. They were they
were smart. The Yankees always invested in a bullpen. Look
look at how many teams have done this Similarly. Have
(14:26):
you seen the Padres bullpen, Amelia Pecan, Castillo, Drew Pomerans.
They're putting guys in their bullpen. They're running the same
type of thing the Yankees are after Chris Paddock and
Dillison Lament. I mean, are you throw the Joey Luczy
all right? Maybe I'll give you three Garrett Richards, Zack
(14:48):
Davies who I mean that the end of that rotation
not very good. You're gonna need a good bullpen. The
teams with the best bullpens last the longest. Why do
you think Joe Kelly has value? By the way, the
Dodgers getting Bruce Darr Grader all love it, love it
(15:10):
for them. Blake train Wreck, Blake train Wreck is out
there right now. Why because God forbid something happens to
Kelly Jansen. You need depth in that bullpen. Or if
Kenny Jansen played, you know, gets two saves in a row.
You need somebody for the third day. Blake train Wreck
come right in. So the teams with the most and
(15:31):
best depth in the bullpen are the most successful. The
Mets have figured this out. But Tances Lugo, familiar Zelman
Daz it's not bad. It's not bad, right, you could
You couldn't win with that. You need DS to finally
(15:53):
step up and be the guy used to be. But
that's not a bad bullpen. Look at Atlanta. Atlanta's got Molanson,
Will Smith, Shane Green, Luke Jackson, Oh Day, Darren o'
day is saved games in the past. For the Orioles
deep bullpen. Do they have a great staff Volton Evitch
(16:15):
and Kyle Right and that'unds so great. They got a
couple of good starters, Sir Counfried, they got a good bullpen.
What we have to do, is fantasy Baseball owners, though,
is start embracing relievers more. I think that there is
way more use, especially on a good team. So I
(16:38):
say this quite often. If a reliever can get me
five wins, and he can get me eight to ten saves,
and he can have a good number of strikeouts and
keep the r A and whip nice and low, I'm
a fan. I don't need it. I don't need thirty
saves to be happy. Give me a couple of guys
(16:59):
like that, I'll be I'll be ecstatic, right because the
guy who may get me thirty saves might also have
a high e r A. Do I want? Ian Kennedy? Really?
Did I wake up this morning? One? Ian Kennedy? I
don't think so, right, So you've got to think that way. Remember,
the teams with the best bullpens are the most successful.
(17:25):
Look at the Astros, Davinski, Pressley, Assuna right, Tampa Bay Alvarado,
Diego Castillo, Nick Anderson, Chaz Row, Oliver Drake, Peter Fairbanks.
(17:51):
These teams know how to do it. You build your bullpen,
build that bullpen up, and you've got a shot. How
about the Nationals Doolittle, Hudson, Harris, Hunter, Strickland, Adam Rhona Salias. Right,
(18:12):
if you can't win with a rotation, you gotta win
with a bullpen. See. Even the Boston Red Sox have
figured this out. Because the Red Sox rotation is awful.
But Workman and Barnes and Walden and Brazier and Henry,
so it's not bad. If if the Boston Red Sox
stay afloat this year, it'll be because of that bullpen.
(18:36):
If the Red Sox stay close to ninety games this year,
it'll be their bullpen. If they win seventy games this year,
it'll be their bullpen. Right. If the bullpen doesn't play well,
it's over because that pitching staff is terrible. But if
a bullpen pitch as well, yeah, that the offense is
decent enough, they got a shot. You got a shot
(18:59):
keeping compare out of all. Right. Yankees manager Aaron Boone
said Tuesday that Aaron judge sees he gets in the
games next week, he's he's had some crankiness and his shoulder.
I've been even cranking this on my shoulder for years.
Hasn't kept me out of spring training. And again, I'm
not a professional. What can I tell you? But look,
(19:23):
Aaron Judge is an amazing player in fantasy baseball because
when he's right, he's really right. He's fifty home runs right,
And when he's wrong, he's still about home runs. So
when you draft Judge, you're hoping for those plate appearances.
(19:45):
You're hoping to get your five fifty, and you think
if he gets you five fifty, you get forty home
runs maybe more in this in today's landscape of baseball.
So is Aaron Judge the first round pick? No? But
is he a second round pick? Yeah? Right he is?
Or is he just a guy who's going to get
(20:07):
four and twenty bats because he can't stay healthy. I
don't know the answer to that question. I know that
it's worth drafting him because if you're right, boom, You're
you're really right. And I think that's something that that
I'm willing to take a chance on on that because
(20:30):
you know the skills are there. If he's healthy, he
gets five and fifty at bats. He's a game changer,
all right. Braves manager Brian Snittiker said Tuesday that Freddie
Freeman gonna rest a few days. Got some inflammation. Is
right elbow not good yet. Surgery and the elbow in October,
(20:52):
and look, they're gonna have to nurse this elbow. I'm
gonna have to watch him carefully. I mean, I'm a
Freddie Freeman kind of guy. I love this guy, is
one of my favorite hitters. But I don't know. Maybe
Austin maybe you have to give him some days off.
I think Travis Darneau is interesting because they brought him
to catch, but he could play a little first. Maybe
(21:13):
Austin Riley plays a little first. Maybe Camargo plays more third.
I think the Braves are gonna have to give Freddie
Freeman a few days off here and there. Right, I
would doubt. If you're asking me over under Freddie Freeman
six hundred bats, I'm taking the under. Now. I'm not
(21:35):
gonna go crazy on you and say four bats. I'm
gonna take the under, and I'm gonna say under six hundred,
right since two thousand, fourteen six or seven four sixteen
ninety seven. So he's had one, two, three years, four years,
very close to six hundred of bats. I say it's
going to be in that five fifty range. Still going
(21:58):
to draft him in the second ount, just late second, right,
late second for me. Still a great player, right, but
you just have to, you know, understand that that's where
he's gonna be a good player who's got a cranky elbow, right,
(22:22):
just like Judge has a cranky shoulder. The teams with
the most depth can give these guys abreast. That's why
when the Tampa Bay Rays have so many guys and
people like, well, when are they going to play all
these guys? Baseball is a long season. Give a guy
a day off here and there. So if a guy
plays five six days a week, that's all right. I
(22:43):
only need a guy playing seven. It's like the NBA.
Joy need Kauai Leonard playing every night. No, I need
him playing every night in the playoffs. During the season,
play fifty games. I'm cool during the playoffs every game.
Thank you. That's how you do it, m all right.
You know how you also win fantasy baseball leagues. You
(23:04):

right now we have my friend from razball dot com.
(24:30):
His name is Gray Albright. What's up? Grey? Hey? What's
going on? So question. Last last segment, I talked about
Freddie Freeman and he's got an elbow issue, and I said,
if I was in Vegas and there was an over
under for six hundred bats, I'm taking the under this year,
agree or disagree. And I was actually just looking, I'm
(24:56):
doing a a cut line beastball over at NFP seeing
and I was just looking at him at around the
twelfth pick, I think it was, and I was like,
I'm off it. Nah, I can't. I don't think I
can do Freddie Freeman right now until we at least
hear more information. But the fact that he had a
(25:16):
he had surgery, I believe last October. And then you know,
of course he says he's fine all winter because he's
not doing any baseball activities. But then within like two
games of spring training he's already feeling pain. Yeah, that's
some way off of that. Yeah, So let me ask
(25:38):
you this. It's the let's say you have the second
pick of the draft. It's the end of round two,
beginning of round three, you're taken Freddie Freeman. There is
a value too good or you just let it go,
and that's tough. You know, it depends kind of on
the size of the league, because in shallower leagues you
can get away with more mistakes because there's a larger waiverpool.
(26:01):
But if I'm in a team league or deeper and
I see Freeman there, it would be real hard for
me to pull the trigger on it. To be honest, Yeah,
I I actually I couldn't agree more. I think that
you know, you might see Travis Travis Darnault play a
little first space, Officer Riley play a little first space.
I think Freddie Freeman gets about five hundred and forty
(26:24):
bats this year, which is good, but it's not full
that and I don't want to pay full value for him,
which is second round pick. Yeah, yeah, no, we're hey,
we're coped pathetic on this one, my man. I know
it's rare for us. All right, let's talk about Aaron Judge,
who's got a cranky shoulder. Cranky spanky Judge here, Now
here's the deal. When he's right and he gets five
(26:46):
hundred and fifty bats, the guys should probably match forty
to fifty home runs. You're picking a round two, Do
you want to pick Aaron Judge? No, not at all.
I've been saying. I got a thought experiment on Aaron Judge.
So if he want to hit fifty plus homers two
years uh, two years ago, and then he followed that
(27:08):
up with seven homers in eighteen and nineteen, if he
were a normal size man, you wouldn't be even talking
about him in the second round. It's just surely because
of his physical size why we even consider him an
easy homer guy. But he's been anything but a forty
(27:30):
five or fifty homer guy. He's hit seven homers the
last two years. And I really feel like his size
is actually a detriment to him because he can't stay
on the field. Like one massive cut from him, one
massive swing and he goes down for thirty days. Right,
it's you know o bleak is usually I said, o'bleak
(27:50):
is three weeks, but total bleak for Judge could be
six weeks. He's so big, Yeah, exactly, alright. The Mets, grant,
if you read about the Mess, they are very clever.
They are one of the most teams in the thing
you've ever said they are. They're in on things, they
aren't on things before anybody they really know. They're just
(28:12):
brilliant they are, and they have decided, you know, after
really thinking this through that maybe just maybe they won't
use Steven Matts as an official fifth starter, that they'll
have four guys and then rotate Mats and walk on
Lugo and Zellman because they're just gonna be out clevering
everybody in the National League. That's how poorly are they run.
(28:35):
He didn't even you didn't even mention Porcella, or maybe
you did. Well, he's gonna be rotation. He's gonna be
rotation with the gum Syndergarten Stroman Man, Mats. You're gonna met.
That's one thing you could always count on. The Mets
will met no matter what. Actually, I just saw an
(28:56):
update that j D. Davis came out of the game
with a shoulder injury. Trainer had to walk him off
the field. I'm really kind of bummed on that one
because out of all the UH the Mets Mets thing,
I kind of I kind of like j D Davis
for the price he was going this year, but if
his shoulders injured, man, it kind of sucks. Yeah. No,
(29:19):
I like j D Davis too. What about UH suspects?
Do you think that he's going to be worthy? Drafting
the Mets is cracked me up, man, I mean, uh so, Pettis,
you know I would put him down for two seventy
(29:40):
at bats at the over under. Probably I probably faked
the under, but barely. Um, that's why it could over under.
But yeah, I don't I don't have any faith in
him getting on the field and staying on the field.
But yeah, I mean, you know, you never know. I
guess it's funny because I think J. D. Davis is
(30:02):
very important to this team because he can play third,
and he can play left, and he can play first,
and he's just a guy that that's very usable. But
without him, I think the team goes to two very
from very competitive and very thin very quickly. Yeah. No, completely. Now,
Jamie Davis, I was loving his price at like uh.
(30:23):
I think he was going around like two hundred overall,
and he looked like he could have played. You know,
he could have hit clean up and like you said,
he had he had some position flexibility, even though he's
really not a great defender. But the Mets are so
thin that he J. D. Davis was going to get
five plus at bats if he was healthy. Now, I
(30:46):
don't know, man, it's too early to say. With the injury.
Hopefully it's nothing and it's just a spring training thing,
you know. Otherwise the Mets are gonna be looking at
Dominic Smith and Jed Laughter. Such a freakingna h Lowry.
All right, let's talk about the twins here for a second.
The twins look like they're primed and ready to go.
Are you and Nelson Cruise kind of guy or is he?
(31:09):
Do you not prefer a guy who only plays utility? Now? Actually,
I drafted Nelson Cruise in a league last last week.
I did a league with Scott White over at CBS,
and I I drafted Nelson Cruise. It was a It
wasn't my favorite pick because he does really hinder your
(31:30):
flexibility when you're drafting, you know, so no longer can
you look at every hitter. You can only look at
the hitters where you have empty position because your utility
slought is felled. So that does hinder you. But I
think Nelson Cruise is pretty underrated. I mean, unless you're
unless you're just gonna, like, you know, take the gamble
(31:51):
that he's this is suddenly the year he's not going
to produce, which there's no there's no real track record
that says that's gonna happen, like you're you're basically you're
just betting against the house if you're if you're saying
that Nelson Cruz isn't gonna hit thirty five plus homers
because he does it every year. So I like them.
(32:11):
You know, the utility only kinda messes up your draft
room a little bit. All right, let's stay with the
Twins here for a second. Mitch Garver. Is he overvalued
or undervalued based on what he did last year? I
think he's pretty undervalued. To be honest, you look at
Mitch Garver, and even if you like, he hit thirty
(32:34):
one homers in nine games. So even if you were
to say, okay, he hits only twenty one homers, say
you take in a full season, say you take ten
homers off of his line, and you say you give
him an extra two hundreds of bats, or or or
a hundred and fifty bats, he's still twenty one homers
(32:59):
and a two sixty five average. I mean, how much
do you think you're getting Fromural Muto? I mean, I
love Mitch Garber. I feel like he's so underrated. He
could give you a top five catcher season and he's
belling around like I don't know, like to twenty overall.
All right, let me give you another twin here. Let's
(33:19):
just say we'll do a Minnesota Twins team preview. Here
we go Jose Bettyos, who I happen to like very much.
But is he an anchor? Is he? Or is he
a guy in the Gray Albright draft guide where you
know you don't take your your pictures early. Are you
like looking for Betty Os and round six or seven? Well, no,
(33:42):
he's not an ace. I don't think he's a number
one yet. I haven't like as a number two high
number two. That is, so if you're taking a low
number one, say you take a Charlie more In or
Chris Paddock as your number one. Two guys I happen
to like, but they're a little bit on the lower side.
(34:03):
For number one. You take one of them and then
a couple like two rounds later. If you can get
Barrios with a for your number two. I like that
pitching staff to start. I think that's a a solid
start to a staff, and then you just need to
fill it out with like a starter in you know,
a third starter in the like hundred and thirty overall range.
(34:27):
All right, I got about a minute ago. Taylor Rogers.
Can he beat a closure that you want on the Twins? Yeah? No,
I don't see problem with Taylor Rodgers. He you know,
he does have that big of a track record. So
if you know, if he's going for a decent price
as of right now, I think you know his prices
around like one overall, that's that's fine for him as
(34:51):
your first closer, if you've waited a little bit. By
the way, are you here on Thursday? When are you
head to get down to Tampa? Yeah, I'll be in
Tampa Thursday through Saturday, quick trip, but i'll be there.
Are you gonna be there? Was? Yeah? Yeah, no, I
mean I was hoping to be there, but with you know,
(35:12):
my issues, I decided not to go. But I lost
my spot in labor this year. I'm gonna have to
get it back next year. Wow, they kicked you out?
Well it wasn't exactly a kick out here, but we
can discuss it another time. But all right, so can
we call you on Thursday? Call you from the hotel,
A couple of girls. I'll be in the I'll be
in the air probably, Okay, all right, we'll figure it out,
(35:34):
my friend. Good luck, how fund labor? Okay, all right,
thank you, all right, you got it. That's Gray all
right from razval dot com. Wish him luck and labor
and we'll get back to him next week. All right,
be back right after this. I want to be the

(36:33):
Rodo here with you. All right. It was good talking
to Gray there. I you know, it's funny. I like
to feel that I have the same insight as other people.
Right Like when Gray and I are connecting, we were
agreeing on things. I'm happy about that. Like when I'm
(36:53):
agreeing with with certain people. You know, I'm like my mom,
Mom on the right track. So here's a question for you,
and I want you guys to think about this. Do
any of you have partners, and if you have a
partner in one of your leagues, do you find like
(37:15):
you agree with your partner? Do you disagree with your partner?
Does your partner compliment you and not just said, hey,
you look really good, I mean compliment you, like in
terms of your knowledge base? Or do you guys just
like disagree about everything? Right? Because if you disagree on everything,
(37:38):
is that a good partnership? I think it's an interesting topic.
You know what makes it good fantasy partner? If a
guy is just a yes man, is that good? No?
If the guy's disagree with you, is that good? No? Right,
it's gonna be somewhere in between, right, because you don't
(38:03):
want somebody like being annoying and nagging. You're like, like,
if you like a certain player and this guy's like, no,
I hate them, seriously, every player I like you hate.
So there's gotta be a way that you guys can
agree and complement each other or try to find somebody
who will go against you but at the same time
(38:24):
has a similar mindset, Like do you both like young
players or do you like veteran players or what are
you looking for in your certain players? You know what
I mean? I think that's interesting too, right, does somebody
have the same mindset as you in terms of how
you view the game? I find that the writers and
(38:50):
the analysts that I like view the games similar to me. Now,
obviously that's why you like him Dr Rodo because they
think like you. Well maybe that may be true, but
I find like some people, I just don't agree with it,
all right, and no matter what they say to me,
I just don't agree. So what I like to find
(39:13):
as someone who in general agrees with me, who agrees
with my mindset, but then who can disagree on specific things.
So for example, if Gray and I agree on a
lot of things, but I say, oh, I like Freddie
Freddie Freeman, he goes, I don't like Freddie Freeman. That
doesn't mean I don't like great. It just means I
don't agree with his view. Now, in this case, we agreed.
(39:34):
I said this, he said this. I'm like, man, okay,
I like it, and I think that's important. So somebody
once said that it's like I listened to your show,
meaning them listening to my show trying to think of
that when people would call up, would I give the
same answers as you? And if you did, well, then
(39:57):
we're thinking in the same way. I thought that was
very insightful. My friend Kick said that I thought that
was very insightful. And he's like, I try to think
about whether or not when somebody asked something, what what
would I What would I say to them? And then
he goes, I generally agree with what you said. Well,
then we're on the same page. If we're on the
same page, that's good. We're not always going to be
(40:21):
on the same page, but you want to be on
the same page more often than not, because if our
thinking is not not linear, it's a problem. So, and
I said this all the time. There are a lot
of people out here in this industry, a lot, a
lot too many. It's saturated. But you try to find
(40:45):
the people whose opinions I trust. Now, football is crazy. Football.
I can tell in two seconds when somebody's like, oh,
O J. Howard, He's gonna have five catchers sixty eight
yards this week. Immediately I'm like, no, no, you don't
know anything. No, right, footballs is easier for me to
know who's a paghazing who's not right, because if you
(41:10):
know what they're they're all they're full of crap. Immediately
you know that they got Yeah, I'm like, I know
you don't know your stuff. You know your stuff. If
you're thinking this guy is gonna run against this defense,
and this defense has a little more than fifty yards rushing,
you better tell me what you better convince me. You
better convinced me, right, And then if it happens, I'll
(41:33):
listen to you next week, and if it happens again,
I'll listen to you again. And now now you've built
some trust. Right, now you've built some trust. Now we're good.
Baseball is a little harder. See why is baseball harder?
Because man, baseball analysts don't ever change their opinions. It
(41:56):
takes like a seismic turn twist turns for them to
change your opinion. Right, he's not going to hit forty
home runs. Here you go. Well, that's why I find
in baseball, if you're willing to take a risk, you
have a good chance to win. See football, there's more
(42:18):
risk takers. Baseball is not risk taking. Baseball is way
more analytical. Fly ball percentages, hard hit percentages. You know X,
you know the batting average, expected batting average, fly ball
rate like, it's very very statistically oriented. We're football. I
(42:40):
don't know if it is so. I think football is
a little more hunchy. Baseball is far less hunchy, and
if you're doing hunches in baseball, you're probably not winning.
But I think it's the person who takes the analytics
and then uses the hunch on top of the analytics
that can separate him or herself from the competition. I
(43:05):
really do believe that. I think it's a person who
can take the fund of knowledge and use it in
the right way, or it's the person who realizes, like
hayden Hurst, for example, hayden Hurst is legit. He just
hasn't had the opportunity because he plays behind Nick Boyle
(43:26):
and Mark Andrews in an offense that doesn't throw the
ball that much. So when hayden Hurst goes two for twenty,
that's big for him. Put him on another team. He's
going six for sixty. He's Austin Hooper light. Seriously, if
Austin Hooper goes and leaves the Falcons, hayden Hurst might
(43:48):
go to Atlanta for half the money and all of
a sudden, Matt Ryan's got a new dude. Don't think
that's out of the question, right, you gotta see it.
So I call being a visionary see things before it
happens fantasy baseball. It's harder to do that because people
(44:09):
don't trust it. But look at season is very long time, right,
it's very long time. So you have to see things
as they can unfold right now. Some teams have less
um wiggle room. So for example the Twins, Mr Garfer'
(44:30):
is a catcher, so nos first or I a second,
Donaldson third, Jorge Polanco shortstop, Kepler Bucks and Rosario cruise.
There you go. There, there's no visionary there, there's no visionary. Now,
there may be visionary in terms of I like capt
Max Kepler more than you, or you like Josh Donaldson
(44:52):
more than me, but there's nobody there who's looking to
work as way in the lineup that lineups are you set.
I think a lot of times it's good. It's it's
easier to be visionary in the starting rotation. You could
be a visionary in the bullpen, sometimes more easily than
(45:16):
in the offense. Right. So my overall point is to
try to find people who think along the same lines
as you, whether that's a partner, an analyst, a radio host,
whomever that may be. If you're thinking in the same ways,
(45:38):
then you're onto something because that person can reaffirm what
you had really originally thought, Like, Hey, do I want
this guy or this guy? Oh? I like a Personne. Yeah,
I like Personne too. Thanks for that. Thanks for that confirmation. Right,
I was in on personnet. Thanks for that confirmation. Or
(46:00):
just like with this, I wasn't in on Freddie Freeman.
What do you think, Greg? Yeah, I'm not in on
it either. Boom confirmed. I'm not drafting him. Somebody will.
It won't be me. Maybe his elbow heels up, maybe
he gets six at bats, maybe he doesn't. I'll take
my chances, right, I'll take my chances. So I think
(46:22):
that's something that I want you guys to start thinking about.
And this could be in DFS two. And this is
gambling too, This is not just in fantasy, you know
DFS play. Why does this guy like a certain player?
What is this guy seeing that I'm not seeing? Or
(46:42):
in a gambling pick, what does this guy like? Why
is this guy like this a certain bet? What makes
this bet the right bet? Do I like the thinking there?
If I like the thinking, then I can get on
board and I can sink some money into it because
I want to be with a guy. I want to
(47:04):
bet along with the guy who I trust. I want
to bet along a guy who thinks like I do
because it's my hard earned money and I don't want
to lose my hard earn money, whether that's DFS or
gambling or seasonal fantasy, whatever that may be. Okay, So
I really really want you to start thinking in that way.
(47:28):
Right who's thinking along the same ways as you? All Right?
You know what I'm thinking. I'm thinking it's time to
put away the insurance cards, put away the code pay.
