Speaker 1 (00:00):
T f A, T S Y and Sports Bread Network
present all in his hands. But the hard Hardwood Takeaways,
it's nod, Hello and welcome to Hardwood Takeaways. I'm your host,

(00:24):
Scott Bogman. You can follow me on the Twitter at
Bogman Sports. And we got a lot of stuff to
go over today. There were nine games in the NBA today,
But of course we start with what everyone else is
starting with, and that is coronavirus. And I don't know
if you guys saw, but in hockey, UH, the Sharks
are going to end up playing in front of an

(00:46):
empty stadium. I believe that is tonight. As you're listening
to this, I don't pay attention to hockey that much.
I'm not really sure when that game is. And now
San Francisco also wants the Warriors to do this, and
the Warriors as of this time, are refusing. And this
is what Aaron Peskin, who is the San Francisco Board

(01:08):
of Supervisor UH Supervisors member, had to say about it.
I have personally spoken to the head of the Warriors organization,
Rick welts Um. I have expressed my desire that they
do this voluntarily before in the days ahead we do it.
As an emergency public health order. It's not a matter
of if, it's a matter of when. I hope they

(01:28):
come to that conclusion before we make them come to
that conclusion. So kind of uh, kind of a threatening
quote there from Aaron Peskin. But I don't know. This
thing is so confusing to me. We've heard a million
different uh scenarios. I mean I read one today where
someone in Massachusetts has all the symptoms. They went to

(01:51):
the doctor. The doctor just didn't have the test to
test them, so they sent them to a crowded pharmacy
to get an inhaler instead. So uh uh, I don't know.
I don't know what the right answer is, but it
seems like an abundance of precaution is being taken by many,
many places. And I mean the MGM is even gonna

(02:12):
shut down their buffet. Uh, south By Southwest was canceled. Uh.
The NHL has already done this, so very very strange.
I read a thing about baseball wanting to potentially move
venues instead of closing down. You know, like, if let's
say the Phoenix area decides that there's no more games
at Chase Field, they would like to then move to

(02:33):
wherever they can play that hasn't had you know, that
hasn't had the order to shut down, So, uh, we
might get some barn storming in sports this year. I mean,
some of these teams may travel just to where the uh,
the infection or the this you know, coronavirus hasn't uh
taken over yet. So very very weird situation and just

(02:57):
a brand new one. And you know, you know, I
mean the government didn't even prepare for a pandemic, uh
well enough, so it's not surprising that the sports leagues
haven't either, and uh, the cities at you know, the
lower government level haven't either. So, uh, just a crappy
situation for everyone involved. But we still have games going on,

(03:17):
and let's get into those. Of course. The first game
we had here was Orlando winning one twenty over Memphis
one fifteen, bringing the Magic up to twenty nine and
thirty five and the Grizzlies down to thirty two and
thirty two. Third straight win for the Magic, and this
was a close one all the way through. In the
fourth quarter, Orlando is up one ten to one oh one,
when the Grizzlies came back to get within two points

(03:39):
on a seven oh run and then tied the game
one twelve with about two minutes left. But the next
two made shots were Terence Ross triples, and that was
pretty much all she wrote in The Magic ended up
winning this one really on the back of a great
Terence Ross game. I mean he was UH twenty four points,
two rebounds and assist two blocks as well eight of

(04:00):
nineteen shooting with five threes. A lot of bench scoring here,
Michael Carter Williams off the bench twenty points, three rebounds,
two steals, UH sixteen points, two rebounds, four assists for
DJ Augustine, all off the bench, and then the starters.
Vukovich had a double double nineteen seven UH nineteen eleven
and seven on nine of fifteen shooting, and then Folds fourteen,

(04:22):
four and six with three steals on six of sixteen shootings.
Not great for him, and Aaron Gordon also had an
off shooting night eight seven and nine with a steal
on a block on three of eight shooting. On the
Memphis side, valent Tunis with a nice double double I
believe that's his thirty second of the year twenty seven
and sixteen with a steal on a block on nine
of ten shooting. Nine of thirteen from the line for him,

(04:44):
John Moran one four and five with a steel, UH
seven of sixteen shooting for him with one triple, Mountain
seven seven and six with a steel on a block
only three of ten shooting for him. Brooks twenty one points,
but he also shot UH forty three per and and
Kyle Anderson started but UH over one only one shot

(05:04):
attempt and Jackson fifteen points off the bench. But the
Spurs won a game one nineteen one on nine and
this one, and this was LaMarcus Aldridge his return after
missing six games with a shoulder injury. Close game all
the way through. The Spurs didn't even hold a lead
until the fourth quarter at eighty five, and then they
got the lead as big as twelve in the fourth

(05:24):
quarter and Dallas was trying to come back, but they
were one for eight in the last five minutes and
just could not pull it off in this one. The
uh you know, LaMarcus Aldris was the only one over
twenty points for the Spurs, but they got a lot
of scoring all around here twenty four two and two
with three steals and four blocks from LaMarcus Aldridge. Only

(05:46):
ten of twenty three shooting with a triple, though DeMar
deroz in thirteen five and twelve assists with two steals
on five of twelve shooting. Trey Lyles a double double
fourteen eleven and two of the steal on a block
on five of nine shooting, fourteen seven and nine for
White with two steels and four blocks five of eleven
shooting for him. Bell and Ellie had sixteen off the bench,

(06:08):
Rudy Gay had seventeen off the bench, Patty Mills had
twelve off the bench. So not a lot of scoring
from one player, but a great team effort here for
the Spurs and the Mavericks. Thirty eight, seven and eight
from Luca Done with two steals on thirteen of twenty
six shooting, so he's fifty six and seven from the
line as well with six triples. Tim Hardaway Jr. Had

(06:29):
twenty points, seven rebounds, three assistant, two steals, and Maxi
Kleiba had twelve five and three. But that was it
as far as double digit scoring goes. Uh, Christop porzingis
for fifteen, Um, you know, uh, no one else really
took a ton of shots. Boban was two of six
down the stretch with nine minutes. It was an ugly,

(06:49):
ugly shooting game for the Mavericks, that's for sure. Then
we go over to I. I gotta tell you, guys,
I was panicking during this game because pretty much the
whole game are a lot of the early parts of
the game. I'm being, I guess a little bit exaggerate here,
but the Rockets were losing to the t Wolves. But
they wound up winning this game one seventeen, one eleven,

(07:11):
bringing their record up to forty and twenty four and
the Wolves down to nineteen and forty five. This snapped
the four game losing streak that you guys all know
that the Rockets have been on, and uh, I was
really concerned. Uh. They finally got the lead by three
going into the fourth quarter, and then they really took
over the fourth quarter. They led by as much as thirteen.

(07:32):
The Wolves pulled back within six at one point, but
the Rockets answered back and the Wolves didn't get close again.
They wound up winting by those eight points. So, uh,
in this game four, the Rockets you know hard and
put you know, put it out there and said we're
not going to have a streak like this again. We're
not gonna play this bad again. And he had thirty
seven points, four rebound, seven assists, two steals on a

(07:52):
block on eleven of nineteen, shooting UH ten or fourteen
from the line and fifty percent from downtown on five
of ten. Westbrook twenty seven, six and seven with four steals,
eleven and seventeen shooting for him five six from the line,
he didn't even attempt at three. Eric Gordon off the
bench sixteen two and one UM, and then only two
other double digit scores Austin Rivers in eighteen minutes had

(08:15):
eleven points and Bob Covington UH ten, seven and one
with the steel in two blocks. But uh, you know,
Harden really put them on his back and took them
there for the Wolves obviously, still no cat D'Angelo Russell
six and five with four steals and UM sixteen for
Joe Johnson, Uh, Joe Johnson, James Johnson sixteen, six and

(08:38):
three with two steals on seven and fourteen shooting, Nasred
eleven four and three. Hernand Gomez eighteen and ten for
a double double and a steel in this one. Uh.
Going over to the next game, which was the Wizards
one two over the next one fifteen, bringing them up
the twenty four and forty in the next town of
twenty five. That was. This was so back and forth

(09:01):
and weird this game. Um uh. The Wizards had a
fourteen point lead at one point in the first quarter,
but then next close it to five at the end
of the first and then went on to outscore the
Wizards by twenty one in the second quarter and had
a sixteen point lead going into halftime, and that lead

(09:21):
stretched by as much as eighteen points in the third quarter,
but the Wizards eventually tied it with a thirty three
to seventeen third quarter and uh to go in the
fourth quarter and won this game by seven points. So
it was back and forth and back and forth, and
I mean, obviously you know when the Wizards win, it's

(09:43):
gonna be a big Bradley Beal night. It was here again.
Forty points, three rebounds, seven assists, three triples, a block
on eleven of twenty five shooting with four UH threes
two and six with three steals for Trabazz Napier uh
six of twelve shooting with three triples for him. Thomas
Bryant a double double fourteen ten two in a steel

(10:05):
on five of nine shooting. Ruey had Chimura seventeen uh
twelve seven two in two blocks on four of six shooting,
and they got eleven from Bertan's and twelve from Moe
Wagner off the bench as well. On the knick side,
Julius Randall's sixteen points, five rebounds to assists in a steal,
but he did fell out. Frank Nintila Keena Frankie Smokes

(10:27):
twenty points, two rebounds, tennis is two steals, six of
nine shooting. He led the Knicks and scoring along with
Bobby Porters who had twenty points off the bench, six rebounds,
five assists, and Mitchell Robinson went to the bench ten points,
three boards and that is it. Oh three blocks for
him on four or five shooting, but only twenty five
minutes for him mo heark listening to the starting lineup

(10:50):
for only twelve minutes. Alfred Payton also started thirteen two
and four. R. J. Barrett sixteen six, one and four assist.
In this one, we had um the matchup that everyone
was looking forward to of course here which was Boston.
Excuse me, which was Cleveland against Chicago and the Bulls
on to one oh three twenty second win for the Bulls,

(11:13):
and this one at least matches what they did all
of last season. Close game down the stretch. They're tied
at eighty three early in the fourth when the Bulls
went on an eleven to two run and the lead
got out as big as ten in the fourth, but
the Bulls closed to two at one oh three, one
oh one. The Calves excuse me, closed to one three,
one on one with a minute thirty left on a

(11:33):
Kevin Love triple, but didn't come all the way back.
This was a big, big Kobe White game both ways
for him. I mean, he scored a bunch of points here,
but um twenty points, five rebounds, five assists, but a
career high nine turnovers as well. And Boylan said, I
thought he competed. He was on sex and a lot.

(11:54):
That's a hard guy to guard. He's fast, he's strong.
I thought Kobe was a two way player to night.
I thought he showed his burst looked like Steve Francis.
That's how Steve Francis used to do it with that burst.
So pretty high praise there. But he did lead the
Bulls and scoring once again. A lot of teamwork going
in here. Seventeen six and one with two steals from

(12:14):
Wendell Carter Jr. Valentine fifteen one and two with the
steel fifteen four and one for marketing In fifteen four
and two with two steals for uh, Otto Porter Jr.
And Um. Just a lot of scoring all around for
the Bulls on the Cleveland side UH twenty six, three
and five with a steel for Sexton with Um Uh

(12:37):
twelve of sixteen shooting sixteen four and six with two
steals and a block for Larry Nance Jr. Seven two
and two for Drummond with a block eight of fourteen
UH for him shooting seventeen eight and seven for Kevin
Love as well. But in the game a lot of
people were actually looking forward to Here was Boston winning

(12:58):
one fourteen to one eleven over Indiana's to clinch a
playoff spot. So that will make them uh. That will
put them in the playoffs for the six year in
a row. The Celtics uh let almost the whole game here.
They were up fourteen going to the fourth, but the
Pacers came all the way back and actually took the
lead at one oh seven one oh four in the fourth,
But the Celtics came back to win on a Marcus

(13:20):
Smart three to put them up one eleven, one or
nine with about forty eight seconds left, and obviously the
Pacers never caught back up. Goodwin. It couldn't have come
at a better time with the week we've been having.
Smart said, we're really calm. You're going to have to
learn to win games like this. Brad stephensons, he said,
we probably needed it. Uh go down three and find

(13:41):
a way to win is probably a good thing for
our team in the long run. That was hard, and
he said, we have eighteen games after this. It's hard
to go to the playoffs. I didn't know we clinched.
We're far from a finished product, but we've got to
start a standing soon. So it was important to go
through a night like tonight sou Boston. And you know,
Brad Stevens smartly, always looking towards the future here, so um,

(14:06):
very very smart from him. But Jason Tatum in this
game thirty points, six rebounds to assist four steals on
eleven of twenty two, shooting three triples for him. Gordon
Hayward with a double double twenty seven, ten and five
with two steals in a block. Daniel Tis twenty point
six rebounds, three assists, two steals eleven three and two
for Kemba Walker sixteen five and five for Marcus Smart

(14:28):
on the Pacers side eight nine and eight, almost a
triple double for Sabonis with a steel on thirteen of
twenty three shooting uh TJ. Warren twenty two and five,
twenty seven, seven and four with a steal on a
block for Oladipo nine of sixteen shooting with five triples,
five of seven from deep, so easily his best game
since coming back. Miles Turner sixteen eight with an assist,

(14:51):
a steel in, four blocks, seven of eleven shooting with
the three for him and no one else really contributed
that much. The next game up was the Sun's visit
and the Blazers, who won one oh five in this game,
bringing their record up to thirty and thirty seven and
down to twenty six and forty four. The Sons Portland
won this one with a huge fourth quarter UH. They
were up only four going into the fourth, but one

(15:13):
with a big thirty nine to twenty seven fourth quarter,
very very close game and a litard three UH in
the fourth to put them up one oh one eighty eight.
Was really when you could see the white flag coming
out for the Suns. It was over after that, and
of course in a big win for Portland's. Who's going
to be the big guy, it's always Lillard twenty five points,
five rebounds, seven assists, three steals, two blocks, eight of

(15:36):
seventeen shooting with five triples. They just can't stop them.
Uh twenty two for McCollum, a great, great lineup, great
numbers for the whole starting line up here six and
four with a steal on a block for mc collumn,
nine of twenty two triples for him. Whiteside sixteen fourteen
would assist a steel in two blocks. Carmelo Anthony twenty one,
three and five with two steals and two blocks on

(15:58):
nine of sixteen, shooting with two triples. Trevor Ariza twenty
two points, six rebounds, a steal in a block on
seven of twelve, shooting three or four from the line,
and five triples for him. His ownia let off the
bench with only eight points, but it was all the
starting lineup and kind of the same deal for the
Son's here Uh. Devin Booker twenty six and nine on

(16:20):
nine of twenty five, shooting nine of ten from the
line two of seven from deep, six and nine for
Ricky Rubio eleven of eleven at the line with two
triples for him, Aaron Bain's thirty four minutes, seven rebounds
to assist at steal on a block, only three or
fourteen for him, so he's knocking that rust off still.
Dario Sarch eleven and two with a block on nine

(16:43):
of sixteen shooting, with four triples, bridges eight, five and three,
stealing a block on four of six shooting, and not
much off the bench. Carter had eight, y'allo had eight,
and no one else scored off the bench. So rough
game for the Sun's. Speaking of rough nights, it was
a bad won for the Warriors who lost one oh
seven to one thirty one to the Clippers. And this

(17:05):
was just a flat out ass kicking really. I mean
the Clippers were up by nine at the end of
the first they won the second quarter by nineteen points,
so they went into the half of twenty eight and
I mean they just leaned on it from there. They
wound up went in by uh twenty four points here.

(17:25):
But um, it was it was a weird night too.
I mean, Steve Kerr talked about that a little bit,
because you know, even the stuff that I talked about
at the top of the podcast, where you know the
they're not going to do anything to keep fans out
of the stadium until their ordered to buy the city

(17:46):
of San Francisco, but they did hit post signs had
said if you have signs of coronavirus, don't come in here.
And there is a media ban on uh members of
the media coming into the locker room right now because
of coronavirus. But this was just a stomping in this one. Uh.
Small crowd or not, I mean, it was all the

(18:07):
way up and down. Uh. Everyone was great for the
Clipperson to night Kauai uh twenty three four and five
with two steals on nine and fourteen shooting, Patrick Beverley
fifteen three and two, Paul George fifteen one and five
with a steel, Uh Shemt ten one five and one
double double for Green, thirteen ten and two for Jamachael

(18:27):
fourteen four and two for Montrez, Harrold sixteen points and
four rebound, four assists off the bench for Jackson, and
pretty much everybody got Everyone who showed up with the
jersey pretty much got minutes in this game. Of course,
Joe Kimnoah nothing yet he just signed there on the
Golden State side. Um. Uh, this was well just a

(18:49):
rough one. No uh no, Draymond Green in this one.
And uh, I like my buddy Jonas on Rhotal World
put knee flare up slash vacation planning on that, and
Charles Barkley fired back. He said that, you know, Draymond
is like the last guy in a boy band who
thinks that all of the crowd is cheering for him,

(19:10):
but they're actually cheering for everybody else in the band.
And I thought that was pretty funny firing back at uh.
You know, um Draymond's comments about him, but he didn't
playing this game. Draymond twenty one two and three for Wiggins,
a double double for Chris ten ten and two. Uh,
Damian Lee eight five three and a steel on two
six shooting a molder who just got a two year deal. Uh,

(19:32):
and it's starting three points four boards on one of
nine shooting uh seventeen off the bench. Dragon Bender had
twenty three off the bench, Kai Bowman eleven and four,
Jordan peele seventeen one and three, Pascal twelve two and seven.
So wholesale changes in this game for the Warriors at
the end, and the bench played much better, but it

(19:53):
was easily too little, too late for the Warriors and
the Clippers go to forty three and twenty on this season.
There was some drama in the last game of the
night where the Nets ended up beating the Lakers in
l A one oh four to one oh to bring
them up to twenty nine and thirty four. The Lakers
down to thirteen and two wins in a row for
Jack Vaughan, the interim head coach for the Nets as well.

(20:16):
But uh, in this game, it was a Spencer Dinwittie
triple with like twenty eight seconds left. Uh, put them
up one oh four, one out two. Lebron drove and
try to lay up that rimmed out with about nine
seconds left, but they got the ball back, came to Lebron,
he kicked it to Anthony Davis for an open three,
who clanked it. So UH, big big win for the Nets.

(20:41):
Tough loss for the Lakers, but they had just had
a great four game win streak over the weekend where
they beat the Clippers and the Bucks, two of the
best teams in the NBA, so they can still hold
their head up high in this one, even dropping a
tough one to the Nets here. But um in this game,
din Witty h twenty three points, four rebounds, seven assist
a Steel on seven or seventeen shooting, so he's only

(21:03):
forty one percent. Cars Laver seven and four with two
steals and a block, UH twelve three, UH twelve three
and two for Joe Harris, and then some bench scoring
for the Nets as well, eleven for Chiosa and thirteen
for Luabo Caberoh. On the Lakers side, Lebron had a
double double, almost a triple double twelve and nine with

(21:26):
the steel eight and two for a d On nine
of nineteen shooting four of eight from deep, but obviously
missed that last one. Fourteen five and one for uh
Kuzma off the bench, and Bradley ten two and two.
But let's go over to the Wednesday UH slate. There's
some good games here. The Sixers are hosting the Pistons.

(21:48):
Give me the Sixers and that one Hawks are hosting
the Knicks. I know the Knicks are playing a little
bit better, but give me the Hawks at home and
the Knicks on the back to back h heat can
clinch a playoff spot at home against the Horns. They've
been great at home and the Hornets are bad. Easy,
easy game. Uh, playoff clinching game for the Heat. Uh.
The Thunder are hosting the Jazz. I don't know about

(22:09):
that one. I'm gonna take the Thunder though. The Thunder
play well at home. The Mavericks are hosting the Nuggets.
Give me the Nuggets with the MAVs going on a
back to back, and the Kings are hosting the Pelicans.
Pelicans are favored by a point of app only game
with the line so far as the recording is give
me the Pelicans in that point. But that is gonna
wrap it up for me today, guys. I will talk

(22:30):
to you guys in a couple of days. You can
follow me on the Twitter at pods and sports and
I will see this. Take it easy.
