Enjoy the show, and thanks so much for listening. You're
(00:21):
listening to the Sports Grid networking. What the world club
touch sound? Pro Football Room? All right, let's do it
(00:53):
Pro Football rewind. I'm Devin Walsh filling in for Matt Dryker.
We've got Davis Maddock along side me, and it is
a crazy Week seventeen that we get the pleasure of
recapping here. Davis, I'll just start by asking you what
you feel the story of Week seventeen is. I feel
(01:15):
like there's an obvious answered out there. Though well, I mean,
if you're a Patriots fan, please stop listening to this.
But the story has gotta be Miami losing at home
to the Miami Dolphins. You know that no one gave
them a chance. Miami Dolphins. They were and this is
not what I'm about to say is is true. They
were sixteen and a half point underdogs in this game,
(01:37):
and they won outright for the first time. I believe
this is the first time a game that Brady played
into the second half that Miami has won in Foxborough.
That that has got to be the story of the day. Yeah,
I could not agree more. I'm actually somebody who I
had the Pats in a lot of different spots assuming
at some point they would break out pounded on it.
(02:00):
It's not like this was a meaningless football game. This
cost this team a bye. They're playing next week, and
I've done the show with you before. You mentioned that
multiple times you were against the Pats when they you know,
they had to take that step up in competition the
Ravens and the Chiefs. Now, really there, there's nothing to
sugarcoat here. They are not an elite football team, and
(02:22):
I genuinely believe it's not a step too far to
say they are on upset alert next week playing against
the Titans. No, I I mean it wouldn't it would
Is it gonna surprise anyone? If Ryan Tannehill goes into
Foxborough throws for passing yards two touchdowns, Derrick Henry does
what Derrick Henry always does, and the Patriots struggle to
(02:42):
score points. No, it's not gonna surprise anyone. And you know,
it's just one of those things where time time waits
for no man and Tom Brady. I mean that that
was the biggest thing to me, is like generally when
Brady's down, you're like, oh, they're gonna get a field goal,
And it just seemed impossible for them to get those
points to day. Even on the way out, Jarraber said, noh,
next week, maybe a j Brown under receiving yards. They
(03:04):
know how to take away your best option. Vante Parker
eight catches hundred and thirty seven yards. This just is
not the Patriots that we've come to know. We take
a quick break here on rewind, will come back and
start diving into the week's seventeen box scores. Keep it
here on the Grid. Daily Rhodo dot Com learned from
the game's best DFS players. We don't just give you
(03:26):
premier advice. We play every day, all major sports, all
year round. We never stopped industry leading DFS tools and
custom projections, and now the Daily Rodo dot Com optimize
that in minutes, building optimized line up for cash games
and turneys learned from the game's best DFS players joined
(03:47):
Daily Rodo dot com. Alright, we are back here on
(04:10):
Pro Football rewind, breaking down and reacting to everything that
Week seventeen gave us. Obviously a little bit different than
the traditional routine in the sense that there is no
more fantasy football regular season, so we're not gonna be
looking at start six, but we have the ability to
outlook expectations for guys next year, even for teams that
are in the playoffs, because they're you know, different ways
(04:32):
to play fantasy in the playoffs, and I just a
general question wanted to ask you, Davis, typically, how do
you find yourself still playing fantasy when the postseason begins.
So there are a couple of different formats that I
actually really like. The f f PC runs their playoff contest,
which is really interesting. Um, you you select one player
(04:53):
from every team. Uh, so that's that's twelve players, and
then the players that do not play in the bye
week round they have their stats multiplied in the second week.
So there there's just a ton of wrinkles there. It's
two hundred thousand dollars the first place. It's a really
cool contest. Uh. The NFC does something really similar. So
I play in both of those formats with a couple
(05:14):
of my coworkers here at Rhodo Experts and Daily Rhodo.
And then you know, obviously dfs on vanduel and DraftKings
and UH and player props to player props have been,
you know, one of the one of the best parts
of the season for me. The other UM format I've
messed around with a bit is best ball for the postseason.
The tricky thing is figuring out do you know, do
(05:35):
you load up on guys that aren't going to be
playing in the opening week because they're expected to be
going further, or you know, do you take your shot
on a three seed that you think can obviously win
that game and an upset in the next week. Do
you play UM best ball postseason football? And what is
your approach to that? So last year Draft ran UM
(05:57):
postseason best Ball. They're not offering it this year. I
think maybe they will be offering it on FanDuel because
you know, over this last week they they announced the
draft is going to be shuttering up the app. But
you know, maybe there's something they would run on FanDuel. Uh.
They I I have played postseason Draft best ball before,
of course, and the general strategy that I take is
just as many guys for the teams that you think
(06:19):
are going to make the super Bowl as possible. That
was that was the strategy that I took into it
last year. Probably will think a little bit more about
it and run some more the numbers on it this
year as well. Yeah, I think that's good stuff there.
We were just talking Pat's Dolphins, and I think in
terms of next year fantasy football, the Dolphins, this is
(06:39):
the you know, they actually finished the year incredibly impressive,
like five and eleven. I believe they got over their
win total, and in terms of fantasy they did get over. Yeah,
like this and this is a team that you at
one point they didn't think they were going to win
a football game. Like I'd give Brian Floor as an
extension right now. The question is what do you do
(06:59):
with the quarterback situation? We've seen fits all teams into
this before and then it's never for real. But he
played some pretty good football. Davis. Well, what I think
is crazy is it's looking like this is just a
a fantastic year to draft a quarterback, right Like, it's
looking like there's some very good quarterbacks. At the top
(07:20):
of this draft. We have you know, Joe Burrow obviously
at number one. Two h is there as well, and
then Justin Herbert, who was you know, would have probably
been the first overall pick last year, uh, you know
him or Kyler Murray, and then you know, Herbert decided
to stay for another year at Oregon and and all
three of those guys might be gone by the time
the Dolphins pick because they won too many games. And
(07:41):
you know, I know it's great, and it's awesome for
Brian Flores, it's awesome for all the young players on
the Dolphins roster. But hey, I do the the cynic
in me, like the data nerd, and me does kind
of think like maybe maybe you know, if all three
of those guys end up being good to a Burrow
and Herbert, you know, it's like it's gonna make me think, like,
oh man, I've if they wish they didn't win that
stupid Bengals game, right right. I think in terms of
(08:04):
fantasy outlook for next year, Mr Breakout himself has absolutely
broken out this year. It's how much do you believe
in DeVante Parker next year? Could this be a guy
that is in wide receiver one territory pretty draft as
we enter next year. So I I definitely do believe
in Devonte Parker. I think that I think that he
(08:26):
has always been a legitimate talent, and I think something
that we all learned this year was Adam Gates not
a particularly good coach. The Jets offense basically looked horrible.
Seemed like all of his players hate him. And we said,
we saw, you know, Ryan Tannehill with the Titans. He's
literally leads the NFL in the regular season in yards
per passing attempt. We saw this Dolphins team that you know,
(08:48):
has no talent, like really one of the most talent
devoid rosters in the NFL. Just because they didn't hate
their coach, they were able to win, you know, way
more games than anyone projected them to win. So, you know,
I I think think that Parker is uh you know,
I think he's great. And I think that you know,
if you had of him in a keeper league, a
diny st league, I think you're feeling really good about that.
(09:09):
I would expect him to be drafted somewhere kind of
where uh, you know, Calvin Ridley and d J. Moore,
those guys went this year, that fourth fifth round. I
would expect him to settle right around in that range
on the path side of this before we move on
to the next game. It would. You know, we've kind
of talked about their outlook for the postseason. I guess
that in any of the formats that we've mentioned, is
(09:30):
there any Patriot that you would look to own roster
dfs uh in the post in postseason fantasy. The one
guy who's always really interesting for them in the playoffs
is James White because when they get in the playoffs,
they completely they don't completely change the offense, but they
they stop using their other running backs as much, and
(09:52):
they used James White way more. That was true last year,
It's been true of the I think the last three
post seasons. Actually, James White has and you know, one
of their leading pass catchers now in the Super Bowl
last year he got bench for Rex burkehead uh, you know,
and Bill Belichick. You know, no one, no one ever
talks about that. They all they want to talk about
the the Malcolm Butler benching. But James White not playing
(10:13):
in the Super Bowl definitely had an impact on that
offense as well. So White would be the top guy
for me for the Patriots, and then Edelman is Edelman
is the chalk answer. He's always the one that people,
you know, in the in the ff PC contest where
you can only choose one guy, he's gonna be by
far the most popular Patriot. Uh yeah, good stuff there.
Bears Vikings is a weird game that was incredibly ugly said,
(10:36):
yet somehow still got over the total with a twenty
one nine team final. I think the thing for the
Bears eight and eight season Mitch Robinsky is this guy
going to be the quarterback of this team next season.
He is going to be the quarterback of the team
next season. So this is, uh, they they're going to
reach the decision point with him pretty soon though, because
(10:59):
he's gonna they're gonna have to decide on that fifth
year option for him, and I I think they'll probably
pick it up. So this is he's finishing up his
third year and uh, you know, one of the games,
one of the games that they lost actually was with
Chase Daniel. So they're gonna be able to say, well,
we had a winning record with Rubisky as our quarterback
last year, and you know that that is that is
(11:20):
stuff that front office people they love to say, they
love to talk themselves into things like that, And yeah,
I mean, I think the most likely scenario to me
is that they probably will pay Mitch Whisky. They probably
will offer him a contract extension. Is he gonna get
a contract extension like Dak or like Mahomes or Deshaun Watson. No,
I don't think he's gonna get a massive one. But
(11:41):
it wouldn't surprise me if he is the starting quarterback
of the Bears for the next four seasons or something
like that. Really would not be surprising to me at all.
Vikings close out the year ten and six. They're locked
into the six seed. Uh didn't have any of their
starters going today. Mike Boone had a monster day, which
I'm thankful for he did it this week instead of
last at all performance actually got home to Fantasy Championships
(12:02):
for me. But I look at his Vikings team and
Davis to me, their their first round exit and and
and nothing more. No. See, so people say that and
I actually disagree. I think the Vikings are okay. Um.
I I have definitely been like higher on the market
on Kirk Cousins for a long time. I think I
think he is a decidedly above average NFL quarterback. He
(12:25):
certainly has had a lot of very bad games in
spots where a lot of people are watching him. And
the Vikings defense, I would say is good, but definitely,
I mean their weakness is both of their starting cornerbacks
played very aggressively. And you know, if they play against
the Seahawks, I actually think that that's not gonna matter
as much. But if they end up in a spot
(12:46):
where they're playing a team that's more aggressive throwing down field,
that that is a very troublesome spot for the Vikings
in the playoffs. Yeah. And and I don't wanna say
that they're an undeserving playoff team or anything like that.
I just think it's the potential matchups that the Vikings
could see and Kirk Cousins seeming unability inability to play
(13:07):
up to the moment, especially if they end up having
to go to New Orleans. I just would be floored
if the Vikings were able to pull off that kind
of upset. Yeah, I mean that that is true, Like like,
you would definitely be surprised for Kirk Cousins to just
in any sort of adverse situation. We've never really seen
(13:28):
him in his NFL career, come into one of these
spots and just be flawless. And and we also we
also associate the Vikings with just like big choke jobs
as well. Right, and also if they do play the Saints,
the Saints are gonna feel like they all have one
because of the Minnesota miracles. We'll come back, We'll see
if there's any fantasy outlooks from this game, and continue
to go through the box scores of Week seventeen right
(13:50):

(15:24):
website for details. Davis, when we were last talking, we
were talking about the Vikings and the Bears, anything fantasy
related that you took away from his final performance. You know,
I guess the one thing would just be we we
definitely need to remember next year when we go to
Fantasy draft that uh Allen Robinson should not be going
(15:45):
in the sixth round, seventh round, eighth round. Like, does
not matter who his quarterback is. This guy is just
out there too to get buckets. He there's nothing that
can stop him. Yeah, I think that's totally spot on.
Despite the quarterback play, he he was a stud all year.
We moved to the Jets Bills game, which is a
similar scenario in Vikings Bears, where the Bills were resting starters.
(16:09):
Their spot was already secured. The Jets got a win
to close out the year seven and nine. The looming
question is probably Levian Bell and whether he's actually going
to be a part of the Jets next year. And
the question I have for you, Davis is what are
your expectations and how much does this landing spot potentially
(16:30):
all there where lev Bell is going to be drafted
next year? Well, I would definitely hope that Levan Bell
would not be a member of the New York Jets
next year. Seems like he doesn't want to be there,
seems like Adam Gates doesn't want him to be there.
Seems like no one really is happy with the situation
because the general manager signed Levon Bell before they hired
the head coach, so they kind of did those things
(16:52):
in reverse order. They paid the running back, then they
hired the coach. Turns out the coach didn't want him.
So I would think that a couple of landing spots
that makes sense for him would be, you know, Tampa Bay,
maybe Washington decides to sign him or trade for him
after uh, you know, just not being able to count
on Darius guys. Maybe Pittsburgh, you know that. I would
(17:12):
it would not surprise me if he did end up
into Pittsburgh after all of this, all this craziness, because
they need a running back and Levan Bell, you know,
that was the best time of his career was playing
in Pittsburgh. He might be interested in in getting back
to that. I think though the Jets they just have
to be focused on getting some real playmakers on offense
because the offensive line is just okay. But you know,
(17:34):
for Sam Donald's young career, who's the best player he's
played with. I guess Jamison Crowder or Robbie Anderson. But
it seems like it seems like Donald and Robbie Anderson
are just not a great fit. Seems like Anderson is um,
you know, just it It just not exactly one for
one style pieces, and they they probably need some more
like someone like Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, those Dallas guys
(17:58):
that have made Dak Prescott's career so easy. Donald just
doesn't have anyone like that. Yeah, and I think it's
hard to really give a outlook on anything else because
you just don't know what this Jets roster is going
to look like next year. I believe gays will be fine,
but even that, there's still some looming question marks on
the other side of this. For Buffalo, UH, they're gonna
be a team that's gonna be available for any uh
(18:20):
fantasy playoff rosters that people will be building. Who do
you think in Buffalo if anyone you would be targeting
in the potential matchup that they're going to have against
the Texans. Definitely John Brown. He he to me, seems
like the strongest fantasy option for the Bills. The the
issue that you have with Devin Singletary is his touchdown
(18:40):
projections every game are just so low because Josh Allen is,
you know, one of the best goal line rushers in
the NFL. Frank Gore. They actually they never use Frank Gore.
And then they subim in at the goal line, which
doesn't make a ton of sense because he has no
juice down there. But yeah, Devin Singletary is just I
think is going to be one of the more over
selected over draft DID guys in these postseason contests. And
(19:02):
John Brown to me, is the one who has the
most spike potential. Yeah. Do you think Josh Allen could
be a by low opportunity because I wouldn't be floored
ive if if they were able to upset the Texans,
And I don't think that Texans secondary is something that
he wouldn't be able to take advantage of if he
comes out a good enough price. Do you think you
could see yourself with Josh Allen in some lineups? Yeah,
(19:26):
I I really liked the idea of using Josh Allen
both in DFS and in some of these postseason contests
because the Texans secondary, I mean, they've really been horrible
all year long. They've been one of the most generous,
big play secondaries in the NFL. And I also don't
think that Bill O'Brien is like, you know, just this
genius coach or anything like that. And there's there's definitely
(19:46):
a reason why despite finally getting his quarterback into Shaun Watson.
The Texans have still not been a real threat in
the playoffs in any year under Bill O'Brien. You know,
they've just always been that first Saturday morning game that
no one, no one ever wants to watch, that first
a f C Saturday playoff game. It's it's always bad,
and it's always because of Bill O'Brien. Yeah, I think
(20:07):
the I think the the Josh Allen John Brown stack
is pretty solid for those formats. Nice good stuff there.
Saints Panthers Fort ten game was never close. The Saints
three straight very dominant victories. I think, you know, they
got down fourteen nothing in Tennessee, a Tennessee team that
you know, that could have been a useful win for
(20:29):
them in a way, at least momentum wise. I know
it ended up not mattering, but they still came back
and won that football game. Handled the Colts, handled the Panthers. Here.
They look dangerous. They're possibly going to be playing on
wild Card weekend. You know it's gonna come at a
price if you want to be playing some of the Saints.
I think the interesting thing is Alvin Kamara all of
(20:51):
a sudden now being uh, you know, you can't keep
him out of the end zone after he wasn't able
to find it for so long. Yeah, we're getting We're
definitely getting a nice regression with Alvin Kamara and that
that was just kind of always going to be in
the expected line of things that happened. I definitely think
for a while Alvin Camaro was hampered by that ankle injury.
Seems like he seems like he probably came back a
(21:13):
week too early from it and that hampered him over
the next few weeks. But he got it figured out,
and uh, you know, if I was another team in
the NFC, I certainly would not want to be seeing
this version of the New Orleans Saints. I I actually
I don't remember who to credit this for, but I
saw someone on my timeline talking about how, you know,
in the past, because Drew Brees is uh, he's an
(21:33):
older guy. You know, he's getting all he's getting up
there in years, that full seventeen game grind actually probably
is very hard for him once the Saints get into
the playoffs, and particularly last year, the passing efficiency for
the Saints in the playoffs was really bad, and this
year he basically got a month and a half vacation
during the middle of the season due to that injury
for his hand, and because Teddy Bridgewater was able to
(21:55):
keep the team above water actually was very good during
that stretch. I think that it's pretty reasonable that maybe
that injury stretch was good for him, and maybe that
injury stretch was good for the Saints. Uh. They were
able to they were clearly able to work on some
new things in their offense to have less of the
load on breezes shoulders. They they are running even more
like kind of trick play stuff than ever before. Deonta Harris,
(22:18):
Taysom Hill, Josh Hill. You know, they're just running all
these crazy formations and packages. And uh, I think pretty
clearly the Saints have to be the top team in
the NFC. I think they're clearly better than the forty niners,
clearly better than the Packers, and uh, and I don't
I don't know if the odds markets reflect that right now.
On the other side of this game, the Carolina Panthers
(22:39):
maybe more question marks than any team in football heading
into the off season, but Christian McCaffrey, in a down performance,
still finds the end zone, catches seven balls. Is he
next year one one with a bullet, no debate. Uh, yeah,
he's gotta be. And and I guess I should say
he's one point o one without a bullet, no debate.
(23:01):
If they get something done at quarterback, If Kyle Allen
or Will Greer is the starting quarterback for the Panthers
next year, I think maybe it's something to debate because
it's so unsustainable for a team that's gonna score, you know,
fifteen points a game to have the top overall running
back or top overall player in fantasy. You know, if
(23:22):
we think Cam Newton's healthy, he has a surgery on
his foot, he's good to go. Certainly no problems with
Christian McCaffrey is the top overall player. But it's definitely
something that you're gonna need to think about if, in fact,
you know, Kyle Allen, Will Greer or some other rookie,
you know, they could certainly draft another quarterback. They spent
the third round pick on Will Greer, seeming like he
is definitely not the answer. Uh And if Cam Newton's
(23:44):
not their quarterback, it's just better not be Kyle Allen
or Will Grew. And I think this is the tough
thing where you know, it's so easy to unseat a
quarterback and say this team is going in a different direction.
But it's not. Cam Newton will find work. He's far
too good of a quarterback, at least in the idea
of people were he's going to get a job this
musical quarterback chair game that we could be playing. What
(24:07):
are your expectations for Carolina? To me, well, Greer did
enough and what two starts to to lock in he
should not be a starting quarterback. I know he's young,
but gosh, this this has just been terrible from him,
and Kyle Allen is just also not great. Do you
think that Cam is going to be this team starting quarterback?
(24:28):
I think that Alan at the end played so bad
and Greer played so bad that if they want to
win heading into and I think that their roster says
that they probably do. It's you know, an older roster
and they have a lot of guys that they're paying
a lot of money too, I would think that they
would want to be winning, you know, not not thinking
about a rebuilding year heading into and the easiest way,
(24:50):
the way that they have built onto their roster right
now is Cam Newton now there are certainly other destinations
that Cam Newton could have. They could trade him. Certainly,
I think that, you know, the Chicago Bears, as we
talked about earlier, maybe that would be a destination because
they do not have to pay Mitch dr Whisky, they
do not have to pick up his fifth year option.
That That's something that I've heard bandied about by people
(25:11):
around the NFL, and I actually kind of liked that idea.
But that really does leave Carolina without an alternative. If
you know, if I was in charge of their front office,
I would definitely keep Cam Newton. There would be no
if sands or butts about that for me. He would
definitely be my guy heading into But I would also
understand why the organization would feel that that relationship has
run its course and it's time to do something different.
(25:33):
And you know, there there is a young quarterback from
the University of Oklahoma named Jalen Hurts who would probably
be available second third round. You know, did not cover
himself and glory in the College Football playoff game against
l s U. That they could draft. It would be
a very good developmental quarterback for that style of offense
that they've ran for so long. And quickly before we
(25:53):
we hit the break here? Do you think that you then,
especially if it's the best ball set ups, But will
you be paying the price then for some of these
Saints players because it's gonna be lofty, but you know,
Michael Thomas, nobody more reliable. Do you think you'll pay
that price? Yeah, Thomas and Kamara. Because the Saints are
the NFC favorites, I think you have to go with them. Alright,
good stuff. There. We come up against another break here
(26:15):
on Pro Football Rewind, we will continue to break into
the box scores and also talk about the news that
broke that Freddie Kitchens is out in Cleveland and what
that could mean for the outlook for Cleveland Browns. Keep
it here, Pro Football Rewind. I want to light the
lamp on Draft Kings and FanDuel this NHL DFS season.

ten percent discount. M yeah, alright, we're back here on
(27:12):
in game or pro football. We want to excuse me,
but we are now gonna look at the Browns and
the Bengals. Box score thirty three, twenty three. A perfect
end for the Bengals. Lost every game they needed to,
then they get to beat the Browns. Dalton gets sent
out in a nice way before Joe Burrow takes over
this football team and there is no I mean, unless
(27:34):
something crazy off the field happens with Burrow, He's going
to be this team's quarterback. Davis. And the question for
the Bengals is, what's the outlook for this you know
team with what you've been able to see from Joe Burrow?
This is this is like the you know, the Spurs
getting Tim Duncan. This is like, you know, just it's
(27:56):
just one of those situations where you just run into
just the best possible, no doubt player at number one overall.
I think the Cardinals probably are gonna, you know, internally,
they're gonna feel that way this offseason. They're gonna go
back and watch what Kyler did with I mean, you know,
he's thrown to demere bird, thirty nine year old Lady Fitzgerald.
His defense has given up thirty five points a game.
(28:18):
I think they're gonna feel good about that. And I
think that whoever the Browns higher is their next head
coach is gonna say, all right, forget everything that just
happened for the last sixteen games. I don't want you
to think about anything that happens. Freddy Kitchens, you're my guy.
And I think that the Bengals are They're just gonna
walk in and Joe Burrow is gonna have the keys
to the building from day one because this season that
(28:38):
he just put together for L s U. I know
that he actually he actually is older than Kyler Murray,
which is pretty funny, Like he's one of the older
quarterback prospects that we've seen in a while because he
was a you know, a transfer to L s U.
And I had to sit out a year. But I
mean that game against Oklahoma, the game against Alabama, the
Georgia game, Joe Burrow is one of the best college
(29:00):
quarterbacks I've ever watched. He he is so phenomenal and
what's even crazier is we have another quarterback coming out
next year, Trevor Lawrence, who is also probably gonna go
number one overall without question, and there's gonna be another
team that's very happy to have him. And uh yeah,
I think the Bengals should feel very good though. You know,
Joe Burrow, John ross A, J Green, Tyler Boyd that
(29:22):
that is a good core of an offense. Now the
defense pretty bad, the offensive line even worse, and those
are gonna be real problems in Joe Burrow's Rokie season,
but you know they have time to work on those.
So for the Browns, they fire Kitchens. I think most
people would support this move. The question, Davis, what is
(29:42):
the outlook this time around for this vacancy? Last year,
people were saying that the Brown's job was more attractive
than the Packers job. And I'm not slandering anybody who
said that. It's totally understandable. Baker looked like he could
be a star in this league. You bring an Odell
Jarvis is already there, Nick Chubb's stud there were so
many things to like. They were defensive pieces. I don't
(30:05):
know if I've ever seen a disaster year like this,
Ohdell never got right. Myles Garrett closes the season by
swinging a helmet off Mason Rudolph's head. Uh, but you
know we had the Baker regression. So what is the
outlook for this Brown's job if you know you were
a head coach with Where does this rank in terms
(30:25):
of the rest of the potential openings? How excited should
someone be about getting this roster? I think they still
have to be pretty excited about it. They have real
blue chip players on offense and defense. The issue is
gonna be what if some of those blue chip players
want to leave. We've heard all year long these reports
coming out of Cleveland of these players just being like, man,
(30:45):
I just don't want to be or I do not
want to play for the Cleveland Browns. And you know,
after watching them this year, I don't really think that
you can blame them. It seems seems pretty miserable to
play for the Cleveland Browns, if you know, if if
if what it looks like on the outside is what
it feels like on the inside. But I think that,
you know, the name that keeps coming up is Mike McCarthy,
who took a year off from coaching and just has
(31:07):
kind of been studying the game and thinking about football
and uh the report that Adam Schefter had was that
he would like to have uh fourteen people hired with him,
uh seven in the analytics department, seven in a scouting department,
which I think is is pretty cool and pretty interesting,
and I would actually like him to get the job.
I think that having someone really prepared and who's played with,
(31:31):
you know, and coach great players like Aaron Rodgers, like
Brett Farve before, I think would be very good for
a lot of these players. And I think that he
would probably bring respect and some cash to the locker
room that Freddy Kitchens just did not have. The question
with some of these skill players, what do you do
with this backfield? Especially if Kareem Hunt stays on this team. Well,
(31:54):
I think that he's not. I think that Kareem Hunt
is going to get more money in free agency than
of Cleveland Browns would be willing to give him. And
they're you know, they're very happy with I'm sure with
the performance that Nick Chubb gave them. He was the
leading rusher in the NFL until Derrick Henry broke off.
I think it was a thirty eight yard rushing touchdown
at the end of today's game. But you know, Nick
(32:15):
Chubb played very well for them this year. Was really
one of the guy the Browns who didn't disappoint you know,
he really had a fantastic game for them, fantastic year
for them. So I think Kareem Hunt is is likely
to be on a different team next year, and then
that would be all systems go on Nick Chubb, because
when wasn't there top five running back in Fantasy? Yeah,
(32:38):
definitely all systems go. I think that Chubb was a
semi disappointing first round pick this year just because the
touchdowns weren't really there and he wasn't super involved in
the passing game, especially once Kareemont got back. But you know,
if we think that Kareem hunt is on a different
team next year, I certainly think that we are going
to be very big. Nick Chubb advocates in twenty one
(33:00):
me and what are your expectations for Odell? I feel
like we're set up for another off season of wondering
what happens with him. This is this weird back and
forth where he swears that he wants to be there
and then after every single game you see him mouthing
to quarterbacks, get me out of here. I think if
you're a Dynasty owner, do you want to see him
(33:21):
elsewhere or do you think there could be success for
him in this system with Baker Mayfield, you do probably
want to see him elsewhere just because of everything that's happened,
you know, and you could probably have some reasonable concerns
about Baker Mayfield and his ability to you know, fit
the ball in the tight windows. Seems like he's pretty
bad against zone defenses. That's really been a thing that's
(33:43):
impact of the Cleveland Browns this year. And so yeah,
if you if you own Odell and dynasty, you probably
would not hate to see him traded or would not
hate to see him, you know, even released and and
headed out to a different team. But also at the
same time, I think if you're a dynasty owner, you
just say that was the worst season. That was the
the bottom possible outcome for Nodell Beckham season, and we
(34:05):
we think that things are going to be better that uh,
there are greener pastures ahead for Odell Beckham. Yeah, I
think that's a fair way to look at it. Let's
talk packers lines. I think there's two schools of thought
on this one. You either feel are you kidding me?
You let the lines got up fourteen nothing on you?
Or pretty impressively to be able to come back from
that kind of deficit fourteen points at the half on
(34:27):
the road and come away with a victory. How do
you feel about this Packers team going into the postseason? Well,
I definitely don't think that it's impressive. They have to
come back down fourteen zero against against David Blow. Uh.
Aaron Rodgers, I mean you can look at you can
look at the numbers. He was bad in this game.
He was really bad. He missed I I mean I
(34:49):
stopped counting at a certain point, but he missed at
least five wide open throws. And uh, I've noticed that
this is something that Aaron Rodgers does now. He's gotten
a lot of criticism from people over the last two
years since this became a big stat But no one
loves to throw the ball away more than Aaron Rodgers.
He just instead of throwing an interception, he'll just throw
the ball away. But I actually think what he does
(35:11):
now instead of throwing the ball away is he just
sales targets too deep for any wide receiver. Or any
defender to get them, but they don't count as throwaways
because they were still technically intended for someone. So that's
my that's my new Galaxy brain theory. For Aaron Rodgers.
It's like on third and eight, instead of throwing the
ball away, what he does is he just throws it,
you know, as far as possible, you know, over the
(35:33):
head of it. Today it was Tyler Irvin or Mark
z Valda is scaling and that way no one intercepts it,
but it doesn't count as a throwaway. Uh. But yeah,
watching this game, I I don't know how you could
be confident for the Packers against anyone against you know,
maybe the Vikings. I guess you would feel confident in
them playing against Minnesota. But even Seattle, I think is
(35:53):
a better team than the Packers are, you know, the Packers.
It's a weird spot. This team, depending on the Sunday
Night sult could be the one seed and you would
say man playoffs going through Lambeau. That's tough. They only
lost one game at Lambeau, but if you go through it,
they got the Vikes. They beat the Vikings twice and
that's great. Their home loss was to Philly one of
the playoff few playoff teams that they played. You can say, oh,
(36:16):
they want in Kansas City, Mahomes wasn't the quarterback for
this game. The Niners routed this football team. I think
the concerns around Green Bay are absolutely fair, and it
goes to something that you were you were kind of
just saying there is this is just not the Aaron
Rodgers of old. He doesn't he doesn't look like a
(36:37):
top five quarterback. It's a similar conversation that we're struggling
to have with Brady because you don't want to doubt
the guy that always finds a way to do it.
I don't want to put, you know, doubt on Aaron Rodgers,
but he's just not ben that guy this season. But
it's kind of scary because there's somehow still thirteen and three.
(37:00):
They are still thirteen and three. But if you look
at Aaron Rodgers career stats and then you look at
how he's been this year. So when when people think
about Aaron Rodgers, the times that they think about him
are they think about the twenty eleven season and the
fourteen season. He won the m v P in both
of those seasons. In tleven, he threw forty five touchdowns
(37:21):
six interceptions. Inen he threw thirty eight touchdowns five interceptions.
Led the NFL both of those seasons in adjusted yards
per attempt. However, if you look at him this year,
the last time Aaron Rodgers threw over twenty five passing
touchdowns in a season was sixteen. He led the NFL
(37:41):
in passing touchdowns that year. Green Bay went ten and six.
He was injured in tween. He was bad and injured
in eighteen. This year, he really was the same quarterback
that he was last year. In fact, averaged uh is
averaging less yards per tempt, less yards per adjusted passing attempt.
The Packers of just had way better results in one
(38:01):
score games this year than they did last year, and
that changes the way that we think of the Packers
as a team. But yeah, I mean, I think clearly
very similar to Tom Brady. Uh and it just just
this just happens. It doesn't mean that Aaron Rodgers wasn't great.
It doesn't mean that Tom Brady wasn't great. It just
means that they aren't those guys anymore. Yeah, I think
(38:22):
that's a totally fair way to break it down. Lions
fantasy outlook, What if anything are you circling to keep
an eye on and maybe be excited about with this
Detroit team. Well, I mean you definitely have to be
excited about Kenny Golladay. Golliday was Golladay was awesome this year.
(38:42):
Is gonna get Matthew Stafford, you know, gonna get reasonable
quarterback play. I think that there they should be a
little bit better of of a team next year. The
defense should be a little better. Maybe they make, you know,
make some additions on the offensive line, But I think
the the the building blocks of Matt Stafford, T J. Hawkinson,
Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones. Uh though, that's like a good offense.
(39:06):
Like I think that that's a good group of players,
and you know that that uh, that's those like I
like Kenny Golly I kind of like the lines. And
Stafford was playing really good football this year before he
got injured. Gonna be honest with you, I had no
idea that this dude led the league in touchdowns this
year receiving touchdowns. Like, as you said, like he's been
awesome this year. I just wanted to look at some
(39:27):
of the like that for me at least flew under
the radar. I'm sure someone like yourself you were probably
aware of it the whole time. But that's crazy. And
and right also up there at the top was Marvin
Jones Jr. It's you know, we talked about Freddie Kitchens
being fired. Do you think Matt Patricia's maybe the problem
and he should also be on his way out? Uh?
(39:48):
I would not hire Matt Patricia for another year, you
know if I was, if I was calling the shots
for them. But I don't think that he's a coach
that was so bad that he just you gotta get
rid of him. Like I I think that Freddy Kitchens,
Jason Garrett, uh, you know, whoever is in charge at
Washington at this point, all of those guys they need
to be fired. I think that there was enough. Like
(40:09):
I mean, when you're starting David blow for the last
six games of the year, what do you really want
him to do? What are you really asking the Detroit
Lions coaching staff to do? And I also think the
bigger problem with the Lions is just the roster overall
is not that good. And that's more of a that's
more of a personnel front office thing that it is
the coach's fault. We're then one more one o'clock game
(40:32):
is the Falcons and the box. The thirty thirty game
that jamis Winston clinched. It's one hand impressive. On the
other hand, it's awful. We'll talk about that on the
other side as we put to bed the one o'clocks
and then our number two we will break into the
four o'clocks and had a lot of playoff implications and
locked up a lot of things on Pro Football rewind,

(41:28):
Rewind and Davis, let's just get right to it thirty thirty.
The first to ever do it, jamis Winston. I have
never seen anything that fits a quarterback so perfectly. Lead
the league in passing yards right up there in passing
touchdowns for those thirty interceptions. I saw a quote today
where he said, I can be the best quarterback. I
(41:49):
have to eliminate the turnovers. Here's the thing. If he
cuts his interceptions in half, he's still top five and picks.
I don't know what to make of this guy, but
he's absolute the electric. He is absolutely electric, and that's
probably that makes him better than a lot of these
other guys who are not electric, Like would you rather
(42:10):
have Jamis Winston or Derek Carr? I think that you'd
probably rather have Jamis Winston. Would you rather have Jamis
or Troubisky? You'd rather have Jamis? Uh. I think there's
an argument that, you know, someone like Kirk Cousins, someone
like Jacobe Burssett. I think a lot of these guys,
I think you'd rather have Jamis, And that's maybe not
(42:31):
a super popular opinion. I and people are always very
split on Jamis Winston. You know, they don't know if
they like him, they don't know if they hate him.
But I like Jamis Winston, and I think that the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers should pay him. They don't shouldn't baim
a ton of money, you know, they shouldn't make him
the They shouldn't give him the Joe Flacco contract. Or
anything like that. But I think he is a strong
(42:51):
quarterback candidate, and they'll probably never cut the turnovers out.
I do, however, think that he'll probably can learn to
cut some of the sack out. And that's really the
killer with him is that not only does he throw
a ton of interceptions, but he also takes a ton
of sacks. And if you're gonna do one, you can't
do the other. Uh And and that's really the lesson
(43:12):
that he needs to learn because he is not only
is he going to lead the intercept lead the league
and interceptions, he's also going to lead the league and
sacks taken. And uh, yeah, he's got to choose one
or the other, Jamis. And look, here's the thing. They
had won five of six before losing their final two,
but they were close games that he was playing without
either of his top two wide receivers. Uh. It's it
(43:34):
is a bit funny, but I definitely think the right
decision is to bring him back for the box on
the other side of the ball, the Falcons. You know
every year, of course, Julio Ridley somewhat broke out. How
do you view this Falcons team quickly? Before we hit
the Brake Fantasy wise, next year, I really like Calvin Ridley.
(43:57):
Everyone else is gonna come with big question mark to
due to age and performance. Yea, I think that perfectly
sums it up. When we come back, we will dive
into the four o'clock slate on Pro Football. Rewind you
right here on the grid.
