Enjoy the show and thanks so much for listening. You're
(00:21):
listening to the Sports Grid Network Touch Ceremony Pro Football Route.
(00:50):
All right, everybody, and welcome inside the studio. This a
very special pro football rewind brought to you by Sports Gride.
You want the edge, you get on the Grid. The
holiday season is upon us in New York, and boy
do we have a gift for you. Live in the
flesh in studio. Mr Davis Maddock, my friend, I think
you exist. It's true. I do. Yeah, I exist. I'm
(01:13):
I'm here for everyone. Made made a little vacation, made
a little trip out to the Meadowlands to see my
boy Patrick Laird perform against the New York Football Giants.
Got to see Eli Manning's probably his last game. I mean,
you know, maybe maybe he hands up the starting quarterback
for the Las Vegas Raiders next year. But uh, but yeah,
I got to got to come out and see uh,
you know, all the good all the good sports grid people.
(01:34):
It's amazing and twenty nineteen has just been your year.
I mean, you've burst onto an above everyone is, being
one of the top analysts in the industry that's so
saturated it's hard to really rise above. And you've done
it with accuracy and you've done it with efficiency. So
how did today treat you? Today treated me? Today treated me?
All right? I you know, I really I really wanted
(01:54):
my boy Patrick Laird of the Miami Dolphins to have
a better day, and you know he left, he left
a couple of yards out there on the table. They're
they're definitely were some opportunities for the Miami Dolphins to uh,
you know, to play better in that game. But overall,
you know, it's just been. It's been. It's been a
great year. I wrote to experts in it Sports Grade,
and I think that, uh, I think all the listeners
would agree absolutely. So each and every week, what we
do here is we run down the slate of games.
(02:16):
We usually try to start with the one PM games.
We get Davis's expert analysis, and then from there we
begin to dissect. And what we do is we move
forward in reverse because we take the week in the
National Football League and we apply it to all of
our fantasy football needs, whether they be DFS season long
or our sports investments. So now we're up against the break.
When we come back, we're gonna dive into the games.
Was there one game that in thirty seconds really hits
(02:39):
you in the gut today? I mean, biggest thing of
the day has got to be the Kenyan Drake twenty
four touches, a hundred and thirty total yards and four
touchdown games. I mean, that's gonna swing fantasy championships. Every
fantasy football league swung on that perform absolutely, And had
there been no Drake, perhaps there would be no Layer,
and therefore today there would be no Davis here in
New York. It's just the way things work out. A
(03:02):
very special bro Football rewind. When we come back, Davis
and I are going to break down all the games.
We're gonna dive deep into the mind of one of
best fantasy sports analysis analysts. It's Davis Maddock. I'm a
little nervous, come on back, I'll get it together. Daily
Rhodo dot Com learned from the game's best DBS players.
(03:24):
We don't just give you premier advice. We play every day,
all major sports, all year round. We never stopped industry
leading DFS tools and custom projections. And now the Daily
Rodo dot Com optimized in minutes, building optimized line up
for cast games and turneys learned from the game's best
(03:44):
DFS players joined Daily Rodo dot com. All right, welcome
(04:12):
back in. It is the Pro Football rewind. There's a
party atmosphere here because a partner in crime is live
in studio, Mr Davis Maddox. So now that I have
you here, I don't think I'm gonna let you leave.
I think this is how it We're You're gonna chain
you up to the wall. And each week I was like,
give me players, give me players who de pict who not.
All right, break it down from me, and let's jump
right into it. Let's talk about the Seattle Carolina game.
(04:32):
What were your initial thoughts? Well, my first initial thought
is how how bad is Will Greer? What what does
Will Greer do? In practice? For the Carolina coaches? Because
they fired Ron Rivera, they have a whole new coaching staff.
They're trying to evaluate every portion of the roster. You know,
they're even bringing guys that they signed at the beginning
of the year who were hurt back into play to
see if they want to bring them in next year.
(04:54):
And they're still not playing Will Greer. So you know
Kyle Allen, he I think without Kyle Allen, you know,
if they add Derek Carr, I think that the Panthers
probably would have won this division. But their their quarterback
play has been so bad. And I just I liked
Bill Greer coming out of college. So that's my my
big thing. And then my other thing is if you're
a fantasy owner of Christian McCaffrey, I mean, you just
(05:14):
have to love the coaching staff in Carolina. They don't
care they could be down fifty. They are just trying
to get Christian McCaffrey every record that they can possibly get.
You know, they're down fourteen points, they're giving him pitches,
they're trying to get him to score. It's it's it's
really wild stuff. Yeah, McCaffrey the number two fantasy running
back of the day, behind only the nominally that is
Kenyan Drake. And we'll talk about that more. But moving
(05:37):
forward now, looking to next week most people are gonna
be in their fantasy football finals. Uh. And also for DFS,
what do you notice from Seattle what jumps out at you? Still? Obviously,
I mean Russell Wilson is still always going to be
an option to go to. But what about you from
the tight end position? From other positions, Chris Carson, what
do you show you today? So big thing that happened
in Seattle today that had not been happening for the
last few weeks is Tyler Lockett looks like you know,
(05:59):
a hell the NFL player again. After he suffered that
compartment syndrome injury against the San Francisco forty Niners. He
had not had more than three receptions in any game
over the last month. Then he explodes today for nine targets,
eight receptions, hundred twenty yards and a touchdown. Also pretty
big news I think in terms of handcuffs as far
as fantasy football goes. Uh. C J. Procise fumbled, Now
(06:23):
I I the call was reversed and Seattle got the
ball back, but then Procise did not see the field
after that fumble. Rookie Travis Homer from the University of Miami,
who is now going to be filling in playing special
team snaps with Rashad Penny off of the field, you know,
out for the year. I think Travis Homer is a
big name to keep an eye on in deeper formats.
(06:43):
And you know, if anything happens to Carson, you know
over it's very unlikely obviously that he would get injured
in practice, but Homer is going to be a guy
that is the direct backup in Seattle, now, I would imagine.
And there we go right into it. I already had
my first name written down and I think that has
sustained me for the last fifteen weeks. I currently in
the finals of my main league. And a lot of
it has to do with analysis like this. Okay, so
(07:05):
let's talk about New England and Cincinnati. What are the
takeaways here? I guess the main takeaway is that if
you thought Cincinnati was going to cover this game like
like I did, what what you don't realize is that
while New England might be bad against good teams, you know,
they're they're getting blown out by Houston, by Baltimore, they
they struggled offensively against Dallas, there really is no match
(07:26):
When Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots take on
a bad team. They're just you know, there's just nothing,
There's just nothing that these coaches can do, Like they
just get overwhelmed. They get out game planned, and uh,
you know, I think probably a lot of people who
owned or drafted Sony Michelle probably not in the fantasy
football playoffs. He's not had a particularly great year. And uh,
definitely rubbing salt in the wound for those fantasy owners.
(07:47):
When Rex Burke had took in his thirty three yard touchdown,
James White also had a long receiving touchdown. Another big
note for me moving forward is that in Kiel Harry
has now been a big part of the Patriots red
zone off fence for the last three weeks. And you
know a lot of people panned that draft pick of
and Kiel Harry at the time. Then he got injured
in the preseason and it's just kind of easy to
(08:08):
write these guys off because we don't think about him
right this this actually happened in O'Dell's rookie year. You
didn't play for six weeks and people are just like, oh,
this is this a bust. You know, he's soft and
this all this stuff was coming out about and kill Harry.
But Harry was a great prospect at Arizona State, and
my guess is that he's gonna be very cheap in
fantasy football drafts next season. You know, I would think
(08:28):
you round and you know that that type of guy
on that type of offense. You know, I guess Tom
Brady is still there. Maybe yeah, maybe maybe maybe if
Jared Stidham is the quarterback, we won't like him as much.
But I can pretty much already guess and kill Harry
is going to be a big Rhoto experts guy next year.
Al Right, there you go. So we start to populate
the list of some of these names that the rest
(08:50):
of society might not be aware of. And I think
that's what separates the men from the boys. That's what
is the reason or that you're a champion. Is when
you can know these names, you can pick them out
while everyone else is falling by the wayside on the
standard picks. You're out there grabbing up a guy in
this next game that I had him, and I'm happy
I had him. Talking about this Tampa Bay de trade game.
Perman was the number one wide receiver in Fantasy today,
and Perryman he absolutely crushed and you know, I gotta
(09:12):
give I gotta give myself a Maya Colpa. I played
a lot of Justin Watson uh in Daily Fantasy this week.
Now I played some Breshad Perryman, not not quite enough,
but Jamis was, of course one of my favorite quarterbacks
this week, as as pretty much any quarterback going up
against Tampa Bay should be. Joan Perryman. Very interesting guy,
you know, very highly drafted by the Baltimore Ravens, and
(09:33):
basically that organization could not wait to get rid of him.
He suffered from injuries, he suffered from drops, he was
he was never really good as a Baltimore raven And
you know the Buccaneers they were like, okay, we got this,
this highly drafted guy, he got cut. We need a
third wide receiver. We're not gonna trust rookie Scott Miller yet,
who also got banged up in this game. Chris Godwin
got banged up in this game with a hamstring injury
(09:54):
as well. So if you were heading to your Fantasy
Football Championship Week sixteen and you have brish Odd Perryman
sitting out there or Justin Watson sitting out there, pretty
decent chance that those guys are going to be the
two starting wide receivers for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week. Now,
you know, was was Justin Watson particularly encouraging in this game? Uh? No,
though he was not. He he did not have a
(10:15):
great game to target seventeen yards less less receiving work
in the game than Peyton Barber. But we just want
to be tied to this passing offense. James has bend
he is right now. He actually could end up leading
the league in passing yards if he just has you know,
one more of these crazy nuclear weeks where he goes
over four fifty passing yards. He actually is the first
(10:36):
quarterback in a decade to go over four hundred fifty
passing yards two games in a row. Pretty impressive stuff
from James, And some could say that it is the
year of the quarterback and if you were drafting or
streaming correctly, you were able to take advantage of this
type of offensive production. And it leads me into this
next game where this particular quarterback when you know, kind
of controversially he was polarizing in a lot of people's drafts.
(10:58):
I'm talking about this Green Bay Chicago game. How has
Aaron Rodgers finally completed his season. For you give him
one or two more weeks, what would be ranking them?
I think you just you have no choice but to
be disappointed with Aaron Rodgers because his name is Aaron Rodgers.
So he is always gonna be drafted. You know, He'll
always be drafted in the top eight picks. Just people
are just not They're not gonna They're not gonna draft
(11:19):
Aaron Rodgers, you know, in the twelfth round, like finally,
this year was I think the first year I remember
Tom Brady going outside like the top ten rounds, like
it's it's really crazy that it took that long. And
Rodgers is the same. And again, I think you have
no choice but to be disappointed in the results that
Aaron Rodgers has had this year. He's had a couple of,
you know, just massive games where he's had four or
five passing touchdowns, but a majority of his games this
(11:41):
year have been one passing touchdown or fewer. Part of
that has been the Aaron Jones explosion. Aaron Jones has
been I think probably the best running back that Aaron
Rodgers has ever played with. I mean, maybe you could argue,
you know, I'm on Green. I mean, people forget Aaron
Rodgers is old. He's been playing. It's like as long
as I can remember watching football, Aaron, Like, I I
you in your old age? Yeah, welly, I barely even
(12:02):
remember Brett Farve being the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers.
My my, my most vivid memory of him is actually
back of the Minnesota Vikings. There you go. Yeah, alright,
So in this Green Bay offense, outside of Jones, who
would be the next guy you'd want to own there?
If any? I mean beat Jamal Williams. And actually, I
think Jamal Williams is a guy who had a good
season this year and is gonna be cheap in drafts
(12:25):
next year, regardless of how how good Aaron Jones stats
have been. And he's again, you know, actually similar to Rogers,
just had some of these crazy breakout games, a lot
of touchdowns, but they've really been in pretty much a
fifty fifty snap split. And Williams actually runs more passing
routes than Aaron Jones does. So you know, next year,
Jamal willamps He's just gonna be another boring value play.
(12:46):
He's gonna be there in the twelfth round and we'll
probably just want to scoop him right up. Nothing better
than a boring value play. You have to think about it. Now,
we've so far discussed only four games, and out of
these four games, this one Chicago Green Bay's the only
one that's fallen under. And it seems to be a trend,
and we were talking about it. We're gonna get into
it more. That a lot of the games are going over,
a lot of the teams are giving us a lot
(13:07):
of points, and that means that a lot of people
are gonna be jumping on a lot of players out
on waiver wires. And I want to get from you
as we move through the players, not to believe the
hype on everyone's gonna be jumping on X because this
team put up this many points. Let's pivot away and
go to why so? And I think you're the perfect
guy to do that. We still have a ton of
games to get into more. But does that sound like
(13:27):
something that we can pull out of you? I'm sure.
I'm sure we can go through and look at the
waiver wire guys and say, you know what, don't don't
waste what little fab dollars you have left there. You
go and if you still left fab dollars left, well,
then good for you. But anyway you look at it,
what you have left is a ton more information coming
your way on the Pro Football rewind. It's a special
night here in the studio. Davis Maddock is live in

(15:22):
didn't believe you existed. I thought you're like, I know,
you won't get this. I thought you're max hedroom. I
thought you were just ahead in a box. Because I
don't ever leave my house. I have plenty I have
plenty of time to read. So yeah, yeah, and I
really I just thought you were like this, like AI
cocking head that just spits out fifteen weeks worth of
picks that I have to tell you, Davis Maddick, seventy
(15:43):
percent of them have hit from me and people that
I know, and I've hit me up on social media,
and it's because of doing stuff like this. So each
and every week we dive into these games and you
are able to extrapolate things that not a lot of
people can. So that's why I still think you might
be a computer. Talk to me about this Kansas City
Denver game. The snow was an issue, you but Kansas
City did what they seeming they were supposed to do. Yeah,
(16:03):
the snow was an issue, But I think the bigger
issue here was that, you know, Drew Lock just he
he regressed to the mean a little bit. You know,
he just was not gonna be a guy who was
gonna be throwing for three yards and three touchdowns every
game they're there. Definitely was going to be some growing
pains for him. And he's actually the type of quarterback
that I wish teams would take chances on more. This
(16:24):
is what you see a lot of the times with
these college quarterbacks. Is there guys who are you know,
they're they're they're stable throwers. They don't take a ton
of chances like like like Brandon Allen for example, the
quarterback that was playing before. If that's just a guy
who's gonna be a backup in the NFL for ten
years because they're gonna be able to put him in
there and he's gonna run the offense and they're never
gonna win, but he's not gonna look horrible doing it. Well,
(16:44):
Drew Lock looked pretty horrible in this game. Eighteen for
forty through for only two d eight yards. One of
the worst games of the year for Courtland Sutton no
offense coming off of that huge game had only two
for fifty six in this game. Uh. The story of
the story of this game for me, though, has got
to be the Chief's lack of a run game. And uh,
this this is a very like you'd see this on
(17:06):
like the Fox pregame show, right, they'd be like, Oh, well,
the Chiefs can't run the ball, they can't win these games.
And that's not true. But it is true that just
having no one who can run the ball, and no
one who can run the ball efficients efficiently, that's gonna
be a problem against the Ravens isna. It won't be
a problem against like the Patriots or the Titans or
the Texans. They'll just be able to throw the ball
and score forward and beat those teams. But not being
(17:26):
able to run the ball against the Ravens and the
playoffs I do think will be an issue. We have
Darwin Thompson eight carries for thirty eight yards, Spencer wear
back from the dead seven rushes for twenty six yards,
more than Leshawn McCoy, more rushes than Leshawn McCoy. So
that that shows you what the team thinks about Leshawn McCoy.
I think it's problematic, and I think that if Damian
(17:46):
Williams is not healthy by the playoffs, that's gonna be
a big issue for the city. Yeah, and again, if
you've been trying to get running back productivity from this
Chief's team, I think throughout the course of the season,
whether it be DFS or or rest of season, or
you failed, you had to go somewhere else for you
for your running back. So you would agree there there's
no one to own that because it's just it's too well. Well,
(18:07):
when Damien was healthy, he was okay. So the first
two weeks, Damien was good, and then they started unleashing
McCoy and Damien was bad. And then Damian got hurt,
and then Damien came back and had a big game,
and the Damian got hurt again, and then McCoy came back,
and then McCoy fumbled and they benched him for fumbling.
And now it's gotten to the point where Spencer ware
who got released by the Indianapolis Colts. So they said,
all right, you're worse than Jonathan Williams, you're worse than
(18:29):
Jordan Wilkins. We don't we don't need you around. They
cut him. He was just hanging out on his couch.
Three weeks ago. This is this is reported by There
was an ESPN dot com story about how where was
literally on his couch and and Reid called him and
he was He led the team in snaps four days later.
I mean, it's amazing because it shows you just in
the sports world, they're in life. You never know one
(18:51):
second you're on the couch, next minute you know, something
you did X amount of months ago pays off and
your life changes. And that's why you got to be positive.
But also from a fantasy sports perspective, nobody, nobody was
able to cash in on this. No, no, no, I
mean no one. So if you if you're if we're
talking best ball, you know, beginning of the season, whatever,
if you drafted a Kansas City running back, maybe, but
(19:11):
you're lying. If you say you did well, you you lost.
I mean it just if you have any Kansas City
running back on your roster and fantasy football, that's probably
been a negative value asset for you over the course
of these figs. All right, So then it's a great
segue into this next game because the running back from
this team that won was a guy that a lot
of people hung their hats on, and he has disappointed
(19:32):
outside of today. I want to talk about this Giants
in Miami game your presence alone. They have vaulted sa
Kwon Barkley into something that he hasn't done and quite
sometimes the number five fantasy running back as of right now.
So there were a couple of things I think that
winning this performance. The first is they were playing the
Miami Dolphin. So so the Miami Dolphins have been, you know,
easily the most generous team. And it's not even just
(19:53):
against running backs. They just give up thirty points and
three touchdowns everyone. They just let everyone, uh you know,
score scored the points against them. Uh. The other thing
was that Eli okay, yes, he threw Okay, I was
I'm sitting there on the thirty yard line and and
the Giants have the ball at the end of the half.
They get it's a minute and thirty seconds left in
(20:14):
the first half and he throws an interception to a
Miami Dolphins linebacker that, like, I think a high school
quarterback would have gotten benched for throwing this. I mean
it just he was looking at the linebacker in the
face and just like soft tossed it to him. It
was unreal. But outside of that play, I actually think
this was probably the best game we've seen from Eli
(20:34):
since Uh that he he really he played phenomenally. He
hit Stirling Shepherd in stride a couple of times, really impressive,
hit Golden Tape for his one catch, you know, fifty
yards down the field. Thought that was really great. Uh.
Sae Kwon was again involved in the passing game, which
was something that was missing with Daniel Jones was that Barkley.
(20:54):
But he just was not getting those scheckdowns because Daniel
Jones would just take off and run. Eli. You know,
he's in his late thirties, is not. He's not trying
to get tackled by was comfortable in an uninterrupted pocket
as well, and that's something a lot of people don't realize. Yeah.
So so I think basically the offense was just working.
The offense was just working, so sa kwe had a
good day. Uh. He he did do that thing though
(21:15):
about ten times where he's just he tries to hit
a home run on every play, so you know a
lot of times those just go for minus three yards. Yeah,
it's it's really been such a frustrating season for Barkley owners.
I want to just ask you though, Uh, fantasy is great,
but there's also a human element being at that game
and feeling the emotion for what the crowd showed for
Eli Manning and what maybe his final game in that
(21:36):
stadium Giants uniform. Can you help us for those that
weren't there, recreate that? What was that? Like? I'm not
a Giants fan, right right? Yeah? I am so I am,
and I am you know, lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, so
I I bring I do bring that emotion to the situation.
But I will say it was pretty cool to be there.
That wasn't why we were there, but being able to
be there for what was Eli's last home game and
(21:58):
they they brought him out at very end and they
brought Alex Tanney in to do the to do the
kneel down so that he got to have his standing ovation.
That was pretty cool. You could. You could definitely tell
that most of the people that were there, they they
know the Giants are not good. They know Dave Gettleman
not great. They know Pat Shermer is not going to
be the coach next year. But they were there, you know,
to say goodbye to their quarterback of what the last
(22:20):
forever for fifteen years. Yeah, so they were That was
pretty cool, right, That was That was a cool moment.
Even if even if I, you know, not crazy about
the guy now, is there any value to Eli Manning
next week? I'm not even sure who they play, I
would say, though. I would say though the fact that
he was only able to get to two passing yards
and two touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins would would lead
(22:41):
me to say no. I in general, I mean maybe
I would rank him. I think this week with my
rankings he was like quarterback nineteen. So if if you're
in a league where where the quarterback nineteen is is
what you need for stream millions, right, and he's your guy.
On the other side, though, a guy on Miami that
personally I've enjoyed the last couple of weeks A lot
of people have as well, is Davanta Parker. He had
(23:03):
a great catch at the end to kind of pat
his stats up a little bit. Uh, what are your
thoughts way with seeing him up close and in person? Well, so,
I don't know if the viewers can tell this right now.
I'm not a very I'm not a very big dude.
I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm on the I'm on the
smaller side. And we're out on the field before the game,
you know, kind of interacting watching these guys warm up
and the wide receivers walk over by where we are standing,
(23:24):
and Devontae Parker is He's the size of an offensive lineman.
He's just a little skinnier and faster. So, like, the
the only thing you can say when you see Devanta
Parker is that that guy is a unit like he
just he is one of the most impressively and like
impressive physical looking dudes ever. And he just got a
a four year contract extension with Miami, which Ryan Fitzpatrick.
(23:46):
Everywhere he goes, he he loves to get his wide
receivers paid. I think that's I think that's why they
like him also much. But I I actually would be
pretty excited about Devontae Parker's future because this is his
first year not being coached by Adam Gaze, and the
results are the results are crazy. He he has been
so phenomenally good this year with Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing him
the ball, and uh, you know, it would not surprise
(24:08):
me to see him ranked inside like the top forty
players in Fantasy next year. And I you know, I
haven't started to run the numbers yet, but he gets
targeted inside the red zone at such a wild clip
and he's so good at converting them because he's still big.
There you go. And I think that's an interesting insight
as we begin to look ahead and try to plan.
I mean, everyone's starting to think of next season, but
those of us that are trying to win a championship
(24:29):
now we're thinking that we could find some value in
Parker next week. Now, this next game, I had it
both ways and it paid off in its own way
both ways Houston and Tennessee. So this was the high
total game of the week. This was the one that
people loved for DFS, And uh, I gotta be honest,
I didn't play any of these guys really play. I
didn't play Watson, didn't play Tannehill, didn't play Derrick Henry
(24:52):
of course A J. Brown. Every week he just he's
just destined to score seventy yard touchdown everyone. That's what
he does. Now this week it was only a five
yard touchdown. Granted bunch A J. Brown. If if we're
speaking about guys like Devonte Parker got that, you know
that we're looking forward thinking about drafting next year and
kill Harry we talked about earlier. A J. Brown is
having you know, when when we when it's all said
(25:12):
and done at the end of this year and we
go to uh we go to run the numbers and
we compare A J. Brown to other guys who have
had similar rookie seasons at the same age as A J. Brown,
he is going to be age adjusted one of the
most impressive rookie wide receivers of the last twenty years.
Like he's gonna be in like the DJ Moore conversation
where we we think he is, you know, potentially the
(25:32):
next caliber of you know, Julio Jones type type players.
And uh, Ryan Tannell has really unlocked him. And I
never thought I'd say that sentence, and you have. And
he's been paying off for a lot of people. I mean,
now that we are up against what we said, most
people are in their finals. Most people really just need
one guy to hit, and it can be anyone. And
there's still a boatload of games to talk about. But
(25:53):
in the games we've talked about here, is there one
person that has jumped out? One can be ten seconds
of one guys. I think Johnny Smith is being really underrated.
He he is. He has been great for the Titans
and is in every down. Here you go in ten seconds.
Another name has been added to the list. The list
now features Davis Maddock, match striker. Everyone at sports Gride
you want the edge you get on the grid. The
(26:15):
Pro Football Rewind is the place. The only thing that's
missing on the list is you, So make sure you
come back because there's a lot more to unpack. Davis
is going to give us his insight and his analysis
for more Pro Football Rewind comes your way after this.
I want to light the lamp on drafft, Kings and

promo Code Action for a ten percent discount. All right,
(27:11):
welcome back into the studio. I'm that striker. He's Davis Maddick,
and we are having a spirited conversation about what it
takes to win. And the conversation here is do you
want to get multiple opinions? Do you want to go
to multiple sites, you want to listen to multiple shows,
or do you want to find one guy that hits
a majority of the time? You know, if if it
ain't broke, don't fix it, as my dad would say.
(27:32):
And Davis, what are your thoughts? Do you think people
should go out there and get ten different opinions or
stick to what works with one maybe two? You know,
I think it's something It's just personal preference, right I.
I am certainly the type of person that likes to
take in uh opinions and facts and and you know,
writing and stuff like that from from different people who
come at things differently. If I'm if I'm thinking about
a DFS slate. You know, I want to I want
(27:53):
to definitely think about someone who approaches it from, uh,
you know, a very mathematical angle. But I also I
also it is fun for me to hear from people
who think about football in a way that I don't
really do it, which is in a more hurtful way,
you know, thinking about like, oh, this could be a
reason why this person could have a big game, and
you know that's not gonna show up in your data,
but maybe it's something that could impact the flow of
(28:15):
the game or something that I think if if if
not actionable, I at least think that's interesting, that's interesting.
And then it begs the question. As you know, hot
stove baseball is going on now. People really feel a
lot of saber metrics and a lot of these advanced
metrics are are ruining the game or whatever. But at
the end of the day, the advanced math is really
what you have to look at. And like I said,
if I find someone that hits seven out of ten times,
(28:36):
I'm staying with that person and you're that person. So
let's move on and talk about some of these games here.
I want to talk about Philadelphia and Washington, the Eagles
decided they have to wake up because they have a
big matchup next week. Yeah, I mean it's it's gonna
be a playoff game, right, It is a playoff game
between between Dallas and Philadelphia. And you know, after watching
the two teams performed today, I think I know who's
going to be the favorite in that game. Actually, I
(28:57):
bet Philadelphia right now. I bet if we look at
the line, I bet there favored by one point in
the early lines. It depends on which Dallas shows up though, Yeah, right,
and it does. It's very similar to the team that
Dallas played today, the Los Angeles Rams. You never know
which Rams team is gonna show up. But the Eagles,
they were in real threat of losing this game. They
were trailing in the second half of this game. And uh,
I gotta say this was the best game that we've
(29:20):
seen from Dwayne Haskins. I was the big time critical
of Dwayne Haskins early in the year. He was taking
sacks and when he wasn't taking sacks, he was throwing
interceptions or fumbling the ball. And actually, kind of similar
to Sam Donald, I think that his ceiling as a quarterback.
He's never gonna be a top ten guy. I just
I don't think he's got the arm I don't think
he has the decision making. But this, uh, this Terry
(29:41):
McLaurin Stephen Sims pairing that they have it does something
very interesting with NFL teams which I like, which is
just get the fastest possible guys on the field, guys
who run like four threes, and just let them make
life miserable for defensive backs. I think there is some
value in that, absolutely, and it's it's common sense and
piggy ox on the conversation we're having, it's what is
(30:02):
it paralysis by over analysis? At the end of the day,
if a guy runs a four three forty, sent him
out there to burn that back and just put the
have a guy that could put the ball up there
and drop it in. And speaking of receivers, talk to
me on the other side with Philadelphia, now the outside
of that tight end, the weapons have been interchangeable. Now
who's who are the guys to own in the receiving
corps for Philadelphia? Well, you know, I would have wanted
(30:24):
to say J j Arsega Whiteside at the beginning of
the year, you know, for for people who don't know
about him. He went to the University of Stanford and
in his senior season at stand or not his senior season,
it was his final season, but it was his junior year, uh,
sixteen point one percent of his targets not not catch,
his targets went for touchdowns. He was one of the
He was just a great prospect, and you know, kind
(30:45):
of the opposite of in Kiel Harry, kind of the
opposite of a J. J. Brown and the opposite of
DK Metcalf. He's had this horribly disappointing room year. You know,
it wasn't able to beat out Nelson agal Or, wasn't
able to beat out to Sean Jackson, and now is
not even able to beat out under afted free agent
Greg Ward, who uh in college was not a wide receiver.
Greg Ward was a quarterback at the University of Houston.
(31:07):
Has been a practice squad wide receiver for the Eagles
for a long time. Always a guy actually who does
really well in the preseason at the wide receiver position.
But I think that the coaching staff, you know, they
just I'm not gonna play this quarterback of wide receiver.
But now greg Ward nine targets sixty one yards and
a touchdown. U J. J R. Sega Whiteside two targets,
zero catches when I mean no wide receivers are healthy
(31:30):
on this team. Boston Scott seven targets, right and and
and our Sega Whiteside. You know, I like the guy.
I think he's gonna be a good White. Hope that
he's gonna be a good player. But you know, kind
of the opposite of a J. Brown. When we go
to do our off season content at Rohato Experts and
we start to place guys in or a comparables are
Saga white sides, you know we're gonna be looking at
John Baldwin, A J. Jenkins. You know a lot of
(31:51):
these guys who get drafted very highly and they you know,
they look like great physical talents, but they never end up. Yeah,
And I mean when you look at it and you
start to ride to want to have some ownership of
the receiving corp in Philadelphia, you just can't make heads
or tails of it. And we kind of talked about
it with the backfield in Kansas City. You start to
pivot away, you start to move away, and you start
to look to try and value find value elsewhere. Now,
(32:13):
this next game. I know a lot of people were
trying to find value, but I don't know if they
got it on the right side. Because Arizona and Cleveland.
Cleveland needed this game in Arizona hung thirty eight on
them days. You know, I had the right side. You
you know, there was no doubt that that I was
not going to be betting right. Yeah, Arizona Arizona plus
three one of my one of my picks of the
week on rhoto Experts dot com. Uh and uh, you know,
(32:36):
I can't even say that Baker played particularly bad in
this game. Uh, you know, he missed some important third
down throws as ask really just been the Cleveland offense
this year. It's it's it's not been fun to watch.
It was actually surprising to me. David and Joku was
a healthy scratch in this game, and and Joeku was
a guy they really liked, uh, you know, and had
to miss a ton of this year on the injured reserve.
(32:58):
But the fact that he was healthy and missed this game.
With Ricky Seals Jones playing four targets two touchdowns for
Ricky Seals Jones, that was that was pretty wild. But
of course, you know the story of this game. It
was Kenyan Drake. And I mean if you stuck by
Kenyan Drake, if you held him, you you held him
through the trade. And I guess it it helped that
(33:18):
immediately after he was traded, David Johnson got hurt and
they had He had that big game on Thursday night
against the forty niners. But twenty two carries, hundred and
thirty seven yards, four touchdowns, only one target for nine yards.
I guess we're looking to nitpick the performance. I will say,
very frustrating for me personally because Tyler Murray lights out
(33:38):
in this game, one of my highest owned guys on DraftKings,
and you know, just all his he was all taken
along by Kenyan Drake, and they they were trying to
give him more at the end. At the end they
were they were up thirty five to twenty four. They're
down there on the two yard line. They have they
have their their rookie quarterback. They want him to win
Ricky of the Year. Give him an extra touchdown. Nope,
they gave it to Drake. Again, very frustrating. It's it's
(33:59):
crazy in that game you have the number one running
back in Drake, and then you had the number one
tight end and Ricky Seals Jones. And when you're trying
to find the right guys to pivot to to play too,
and you hit on those guys, you really feel like
a champ. But other times you scratch your head and go,
who saw that coming? Like next week, what's Ricky Seals
Jones ownership gonna look like? I mean, it brought under
(34:21):
one percent. I'm sure that the you know, the funny
thing about Ricky Seals Jones and he spent all off
season as a member of the year's Arena Cardinals was
really was really their fifth wide receiver. And and what
happened was is they decided that instead of playing Rickey
Seals Jones, they were just gonna play demure Bird a lot.
But then they soured on demere Bird. Demere Bird didn't
play for you know, six weeks this season, and now
(34:42):
they they they're running out of options. They just cliff
they've been losing all these games, so they're like, Okay,
we're gonna bring de mere Bird back. Leads the team
and targets six receptions for eight six yards, and uh,
a lot of people have Christian Kirk, we're cursing You're
bird's name absolutely as I write it down. Now, this
next game you want to talk about Kurson, It's the
gonna be the fine game played in the stadium before
a team moves on to a place called Sin City.
(35:04):
They were supposed to win. There was questions about the
running back, would he be healthy? He ended up playing,
and it turns out that Jacksonville goes in and beats Oakland.
Your thoughts, well, Josh Jacob should not have played in
this game. And I and I say that as someone
who likes Josh Jacobs like I. I mean, I clearly
didn't think he was a good draft pick by the Raiders,
but I did think, like I, I like him as
a player, and I liked him a lot in Fantasy
(35:25):
this year. But he just should not have played. Uh.
The that rap sheet report on Friday said, oh, you know,
he's fine, he's good to go. But also he had
trouble putting his hoodie on at the end of practice.
Probably yeah, he couldn't. He couldn't get his arm up
high enough to put his hoodie on. So you know, I,
I just didn't think it was a great idea for
him to play. But you know, can't say, can't say
he played poorly. Carries eighty nine yards. Was also involved
(35:47):
in the receiving game a bit, three targets and twenty
receiving yards. The weird thing is is that DeAndre Washington,
when he replaced him last week, had more targets in
one game than any game that Jacobs had had this year,
which is yeah, I mean, you would think that your
first round running back, you'd want to get him the
ball more often than you would want to be getting
your your your undrafted free agent from Texas Tech the ball.
(36:08):
But the crazy thing about this game is if you
told someone at halftime the Jaguars won that game, it
would have laughed you at it. I mean they were
they had like sixty four total yards and just they
was it was so bad and they they came out
and I guess the Raiders defense just just overpowers everything.
Two touchdowns for Chris Conley on eight targets, very bizarre,
(36:31):
only four targets for D D. Westbrook with DJ Shark
not in the lineup, six targets for Keelan Cole, seven
targets for Leonard four Nette, two targets for Seth DeValve
uh DeValve he was an old Cleveland Browns tight end.
Can't can't really uh, I can't really say he's on
the fantasy radar too much, but D D. Westbrook definitely
disappointed a lot of fantasy owners who thought that he
(36:52):
was gonna be the main beneficiary of Shark being out. Yeah.
I know a few people that played connly with that
same thought process and it just didn't seem to work out.
So that was a little bit of a preview. There
still are three more games to get to. We're gonna
save them for the second hour. What I want to
do here in the next few minutes. Most people that
are in fantasy leagues that have advanced in the playoffs,
most of them are into their championships now right, If not,
(37:12):
then they're into their semifinals. What's the best advice as
you move forward? Is it too you know, I'll let
you say, what's the best advice to those people out
there that are in their their rounds? So the best
advice is in terms of setting your starting lineup, is
you know, you just kind of play the guys who
are projected for the most points. It doesn't matter where
you drafted them, doesn't matter how much fab you spent
(37:35):
on them, Like I have guys who just suck who
I spent a lot of fab on. You know, I blew,
I blew fab on on Brian Hill, Ty Johnson. Uh,
you know, just just lots of guys who didn't end
up being any good, right and and and I bought
more clothes that I didn't wear back in August Sammy Watkins.
And you know how many teams Sammy Watkins still on
because he had that forty Fantasy point performance and waiting
(37:58):
one and he he has been useless for Fantasy since then.
And you know, like, uh, you know, no reason to
keep him on your roster, of course, no reason to
start him. And Uh. Another thing that it's gonna be
weird for people is we have all these injuries. We
have Mike Evans injury, we have Calvin Ridley injured. If
so many guys were missing with injury that some teams
just have all new starting wide receivers. Are you know
there's fifth string running backs Mike Boone, for example, who
(38:21):
might be starting for the Minnispota Vikings next week if
Alexander Madison is out of this hamstring injury or the
ankle injury. Uh, just start the guys who are gonna
get the most points like that, and it sounds very reductive,
but you're definitely gonna tell yourself like, oh, I could
never I could never live with myself if I benched
Levian Bell and he was my first round draft pick.
You know, you know, you bring up a great point,
(38:41):
And that's why I wanted to start this conversation because
there are a lot of people out there that have
this attachment to where they drafted someone or a game
that they did for them, or how much they spent
on them. And to your point, if you're trying to
win one game, it's the same thing with fantasy baseball.
When you're done running out the end of the sea
is trying to win one game, you gotta go with
the guys who to project to get the most points.
And I really love that advice. But to the people
(39:04):
out there that want to go deeper, how I start
looking at matchups? I mean that that's my first thing.
I look like next week, de Shawn Watson is one
of my quarterbacks. One at least it's got Tampa Bay.
Like there's not gonna be yeah right, It's just it's
common sensical, so to speak, or Courtland Sutton has Detroit
things like that. Yes, there are far more sexier options
out there. So how do you avoid the temptation? How
do you stay stay with the nose to the grindstone. Well,
(39:26):
I mean the first thing is obviously I you know,
I subscribe to daily Rodo dot com and they have
they have the best projections, and you know I have
very heavily used those projections to create all of our
stuff on Roodo Experts. We also have the daily Rhodo
Bottle rankings out on Rhodo Experts as well, So that's
that That's the place I start. I actually though, in
terms of looking at matchups, I try and think about
(39:46):
the volume first. Before I started thinking about the efficiency
created by the matchup. I think, well, who's just gonna
see the most touches of the ball, because anything can
happen when you get the ball thirty times right, or
anything can happen if you're targeted ten times. Does a
matter her if you're playing against San Francisco or whoever,
Like Julio Jones today against s Francisco, it's gonna be
the best. One of the best wide receivers of the
day wasn't very popular because he was playing San Francisco, right,
(40:09):
But what happened at the end of that game certainly
is popular, and we'll talk about that as well as
a whole lot more when we come back. We want
to talk about some pickups and some drops from the
one o'clock games, and we are also going to dive
into the four o'clock games and give you everything you
need because now we're in the home stretch. Now we
get into the skull session. This is basically where you
get your pen and your paper and you listen to
Davis on the laptop. I'll guide everyone through it. Everything
(40:33):
we need to become champions, everything we need to hit
in dfs, everything we need to hit in our sports investments,
it all lives right here. The only thing that we
need is you, So make sure you come back. We're
gonna do a deep dive into some pickups, some drop off,
some skull sessions. Davis is gonna pull out some pretty
interesting stats and come on back. The Pro football rewind
right here right now. After this
