Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm Jeff Stevens. Thanks for checking out my eighties show podcast. Well,
he's got a new single called let Me Into Your Heart,
and everybody is ready to hear from our good pal
Michael Damien.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
What's up, buddy, Hey, how you doing?

Speaker 1 (00:13):
I'm doing great? How are you?

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Oh? Fantastic, fantastic. Thanks for having me on the show.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Well, absolutely, thank you for jumping on here. I got
to tell you my occasion, my one occasion to meet
Michael Damien happened in nineteen ninety three, just a minute ago.
You eat. I was twelve, you were fifteen.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yeah, you came by our radio station promoting a new
single in that year, and I have a picture of
you eating a pay day.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Oh my god. Okay, please you can you please text
that to me. I really want to get a copy
of that.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Okay, right, Well, by the way, dude, I will gladly
do that. But that means you've got to give me
your number. I promise I won't abuse it, you know, so.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
I'll get it, johll even I'll broadcast it on air. Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Oh yeah, nothing could possibly go wrong with that. Oh man,
it is so great to talk to you, and this
is very exciting because not only do you have a
new single which is really good. I've previewed it. It's fantastic.
But today's going to be a special moment on Young
and the Restless.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, I'm so excited to have out finally a new single.
We're working on this album for over a year now
and we plan to release the album in January twenty
twenty six. Can't wait for you to hear all the tracks.
I'll send you a preview for sure. Excellent and you know,
just really thrilled to have the song on the show
today on Young and the Restless. So that's going to

(01:41):
be really fun. And it's a really special show because
it's rare that you can get you know, you get
the cast members singing with you. So right, I hate
to give I gave away. I know I'm going to
get in trouble by the way, just you know, I
wasn't supposed to give away that. But we go back
to the payday days.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Yeah, yeah, yes, we are going to We're established enough
that we can do that, right.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Yeah. Yeah, it's just between you and me. But it's
a really fun show. It's going to be a lot
of drama, a lot of surprises and music. So you know,
if you're a young Rests fan, are you, and if
you want to check it out for the first time,
it's on CBS and today is going to be a
great episode two to watch, so make sure it's you
watch it. It's a it's a bachelor and bachelorette party

(02:27):
that goes wrong, so that goes awry.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
So okay, then well we're getting all kinds of scoop
from Michael Damien. I love this and you're doing it.
Why you're doing like an intimate acoustic performance of the
song right.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Exactly, which is really cool. I've got the full length
version that you've heard, and now the acoustic is up.
It just went up actually over the weekend, so it's
streaming as well on you know, your favorite platforms iTunes
or Spotify or wherever you're YouTube where if you like
to listen to music, actually prefer your radio station, to
be honest with you, So just actually listen on your

(03:00):
station actually where you should be listening.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Thank you, Michael. I appreciate the promo there because that's
how song that should be heard is on the radio.
I mean, that's the best way to hear.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Them, right it's so good. That's what I do in
the car. Man. I'm right now, I'm up in the
Park City, Utah, and I just I love getting in
the car and just hitting the local station and listening
to it. Just don't it just sounds so much better.
I don't know what you guys do, you have magic
ferry dust or something you sprinkle on the tracks, But
it's so good, that's.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
What it is. It's actually magic fairy dust. So that's
not a lot of people know that. But by the way,
in Park city's beautiful, right. I've never been there, but
everybody talks about how beautiful that place is.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Oh yeah, it's great. You know. I made a movie
because I had my other other career as a filmmaker.
I made a movie called Falling for Christmas that was
on Netflix. Lindsay Lohan started in it. Yeah, yeah, and
we shot it here in this area, and so I
fell in love with the area making the movie, and
I was like, oh my gosh, this is a great
place too. I get a you know, a little out
and retreat and so yeah, goll in love with it.

(04:02):
But it's really it's quite quite special.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Well, we're chatting here with Michael Damien for a couple
more minutes. And so the new single is called let
Me Into Your Heart. It is going to debut today
on of course CBS is number one rated daytime drama
The Young and the Restless. But yeah, you mentioned film, director, writer, producer,
of course, soap opera star, daytime TV star. I mean,
you really have done it all, my friend.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Well, I just didn't, you know. I don't want to
be idle and board.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
So you're not.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Yeah, you know, and my dad always said, son, don't
quit your day job. So that was Young and the Restless,
So I can't leave that show. And then, you know,
but I'm so fortunate because, you know, music, I started
in music. You know. I'm not sure if everybody knows,
but that's actually how I even got the part on
Young and the Restless is when the producers of the
show saw me on American Bandstand and wrote the character

(04:55):
of Danny Romolatti. And so they said, hey, do you
want to be on a show and you can sing
and perform your music? And I thought, oh my gosh,
this is incredible. Yes, And then they said, oh, by
the way, do you act, And I said, uh, of course, yeah,
of course I do. And I got off the phone
and I said to my brother Larry, I said, hey, Hilarry,

(05:16):
you need to teach me how to act over the
weekend because I got I was going to CBS on Monday,
like what, okay, come on here, let's let's work on
a citye you know. So hey, so listen, when anybody
asked do you act, just say yes, Okay, don't I'll say, well,
what kind of.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Just say yes and then figure it out later.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Exactly exactly when you have an opportunity like that, and
so yeah, And I had no idea. I thought it
was going to just be for the summer because they
said it was a summer storyline.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Oh okay, how many years, Michael, for young and the restless?

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Do you have to do this to make? Come on?

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Look, I was five years old when I started nineteen
eighty one, oh believe it eighty one. I know, I
know time flies.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
But how do you look timeless? That's the thing. How
do you look timeless?

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Well, first of all, your TV must have smoothming on.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
It, because it's the fairy dust.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
I'm no, you're so kind, Yes, you're well. Listen, I
take a lot of item ands and I just I
seven days a week. That's all I could. Yeah, that's
all I could do.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
That's that's pretty solid advice right there. I know I
got to let you go here in a minute, but uh,
I was I was just getting started in radio. When
rock on hit in the summer of eighty nine and
went to number one. That was so much fun. I mean, man,
your song it was everywhere all the time. I mean
it was one of the biggest songs of the year.
That was so much fun.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Hey, thank you so much. And you know what, I'm
so honored and so fortunate to have you know, guys
like you that that played the record gave me that shot,
and and you believed in me, and like people like
you and Scott Shannon and you know, Shadow Stevens and
all these guys that put it on first and those
are you know, I just my superheroes. And you know

(07:03):
what's really cool too, is that we got to close
out the eighties, which I think is probably some of
the best music ever. And I only say that because
I have like nephews and nieces and they're obsessed with
eighties music, and I'm like, wow, I love that they're
obsessed with the eighties, So yeah, you know we had
a very special time. Absoluteities.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Absolutely yes. Speaking of you being timeless, I feel like
the eighties are timeless as well, so I know I
got to let you go here, Michael. Let Me Into
Your Heart is the brand new single. Watch it today
on Young and the Restless. Stream it over and over
and over, and we'll look forward to the album next
year as well. And it was so cool talking to you.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Man. All right, well, let all your listeners get to
listen to it and have them call me and get
me hit me on social media, let me know what
you think.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
Okay, absolutely well, I'll follow you and I'll talk to
Art about getting your phone number to send you the
payday picture.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
You're the best. You have to get it, send it
to me.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Okay, all right, here we'll do. Thanks, Mike, you're the best,
Sea buddy.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Okay, man, Hey, rock on, I love that.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Rock On. See you
