After a short break to switch gears Defense Diaries is back with the first episode of season 2. Tragedy strikes the Dundee neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska as eleven year old Thomas Hunter and fifty seven year old Shirlee Sherman are both brutally murdered. Dr. Thomas Hunter returns from work to find his youngest son and the lady hired to clean their house, dead. Stranger danger, indeed.

There are no words to describe what Dr. Bill Hunter is going to encounter when he returns home from work. We hear his account first hand as he tells Omaha PD detectives in an interview room at the police station. He's made several attempts to contact his wife, she happens to return his call while this interview is taking place.

From the inside of an interview room at the Omaha police department, Jeff Hunter tells detectives his thoughts about who to blame for his little brother's death. We learn a little more about who Shirley Sherman was as a person. We also go to the scene of the crime and discuss the evidence collected from the Hunter house. Mary Rommelfanger tells OPD what she saw the day of the murder, we discuss victimology, the ups and downs the practice has faced through the years, and why it's such an important investigative tool.

Coincidence allows for a certain amount of similarity, but how much is too much for something to remain coincidence? There is no specific answer, its a case by case situation. In the Hunter case, we have four eye witnesses. They get together with a sketch artist in two groups, the three women first and then Paul Medine. The autopsy reports for Shirlee Sherman and Thomas Hunter are done. They are not easy to hear.

We discuss a few more victims in this case, potentially people that are often overlooked when discussing the victims in this case. A Creighton employee has an idea as to who may be behind the killings that took place at the Hunter Home, however, Omaha PD is pretty skeptical. We will also hear from Kelly Sherman's boyfriend.

More suspects come to light for Omaha PD to look into. Several of which, at first glance, seem promising, Daughter's boyfriend, composite sketch look alike, disgruntled doctor. The potential suspect list, at this point, is getting its names from any and all angles.
