Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's five o'clock on your Tuesday night. This is Tucson
Roadrunners Happy Hour from Fox Sports fourteen to fifty am
with James macke, Damon Morainey, and then Kim Connor Roadblaze.
It's our usual Tuesday night get together right here on
Tucson sports station Fox Sports fourteen fifty am.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Welcome to another edition of Happy Hour on Fox Sports
fourteen fifty a Tucson Roadrunners podcast. Kim and Iron, now
joined by the man who is responsible for the Roadrunners
not getting swept last weekend, actually helping them in their
victory on Saturday night, Ryan McGregor. Ryan a huge goal
under three minutes left in regulation, And like I said,
both games had a really similar feel, right, you guys

(00:43):
fall behind early, then it seems like you're the better
team in periods two and three, but you just have
to overcome that deficit. Friday night couldn't make it happen.
Saturday night, you come through big with a goal with
under three minutes left. Take me through the goal. And
what was different on Saturday compared to Friday.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
I think we just we were able to stick to
our game, playing a little better on Saturday. Earlier in
the game, it wasn't really paying off for us, but
I think we were still playing our game, and you know,
playing behind them and playing hard, and we knew that
I would kind of wear on them a bit. And
then by the third period you saw we kind of
we're all over them, and we knew it was just

(01:18):
a matter of time. And then on the goal, I
think I just cycled it down low and tools made
a great play. Couldncy picked up a stick out front
and just kind of came out to me and kind
of threw a little bit of a change up on
the net, and you know, I was fortunate enough for
it to go in.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
There you go, and you know, to think about your
role this season, right, kind of bouncing back and forth.
Then you score game time goal, you feel like, maybe, okay, coach,
I think I'm good to stick around at least for
the weekend. So that could be exciting for you. But
I'm just wondering, and I don't want you to get
upset with me here. And maybe I should admit this
on a Roadrunners podcast, but I have kind of a
soft spot for Coachella Valley just because I wish we

(01:54):
could I wish the Roadrunners would play them every week
because I think they're a fun team to watch. As
I see it, when they're on the penal kill and
their penalty kill is towards the top of the league,
they just try to score a shorthanded goal. That's their
that's their approach. Am I wrong in viewing it that way?
They're not really concerned with getting a stop. They're just
trying to force out and get it get an odd
man rush.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, there's there's definitely some teams who like to be
a little more offensive on the p K, but uh,
you know, even Colorado is pretty similar to that. Colorado
has some skilled guys and that they play on the
penalty kill that like to try and get up ice
a little bit. So you know, it's something in the
pre scout. We just got to make sure where we
know that it might be coming. And you know, sometimes

(02:31):
you can take advantage of that as a power play
if they want to jump up in the rush and
try and beat them back up quick and you can
have an odd man rush for yourself. So yeah, there,
I mean, they are a fun team to watch. Their
Coachella's they're running gun. They like to play fast and
try and try, and you know exactly if they're odd
man rush is when they can so, but as us,

(02:51):
we can, you know, kind of take advantage of that sometimes.
And I think in the.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Third we are able to goad Jella honestly has too
many fans in these days of I don't know if
you saw there was some jerseys and some cracking jerseys
and we need to so David, We're not fans.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
I just their style of play. I was taken a
little bit, That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Keep it together, Okay, yeah, no, but it was it
was an incredibly fantastic, dynamic weekend. How did you feel
going into Saturday night's game? The vibe was so different
on Saturday night than it was on Friday. It was
very a lot of visits to the penalty box. It
was incredibly busy for a little while they're calling penalties.

(03:32):
Did you guys come out with a different mindset? What
did what did it feel like to you or what
were you What were you guys thinking?

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Yeah, I mean, we weren't happy with how it went Friday,
and then you know, we get it in the morning
and try and figure out what went wrong and whatnot.
And I think we knew that we had to dig
a little deeper on Saturday and just play better, better
version of our brand. And you know, I think when Nots,

(04:00):
when Notts fought there, that yeah, that really got everyone
going a lot. I mean to see a guy like
that and guy who probably used to chuck him a
little more than he does now step up to you know,
one of the tougher guys in the league, and you
know they're tough guy. It was awesome to for us
to see, you know, our kind of old eventually going
at him like that. So I think when something like

(04:21):
that happens, you got to take take advantage of it
and capitalize on it.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I kind of really appreciate the way that he went
into that fight. He looked very thoughtful, very deliberate. He
held him at arm's length for a good amount of
time trying to like size him up, figure it out,
and then just and then it just went crazy like
it was. So it was from a fan standpoint too,
it was a lot of it energized the crowd so

(04:44):
so much. We had such a good crowd on here
on Saturday, so that was and it was military appreciation night,
so it was a it was a lot happened in
that night. Yeah, of course it wasn't doing anything else,
so it worked out.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
So here's an analogy that I made, Ryan, and maybe
you'll relate. Kim. I wonder if you'll relate to this.
But when I said, I said this on our broadcast,
and maybe our fans couldn't follow me, they might think
I'm crazy. I said, you know when your parents are
your younger kid, maybe you're in middle school, and they say,
come on, we're gonna go take a trip. You get
to bring one friend, right, take one friend, whoever it is.
We're gonna go away for a long weekend, and whoever
you pick, we'll go. Okay, fine, So you take the friend.

(05:19):
The first day, everything's great, the second dy you having fun.
By the third day, you just want to rip their
hair out. Right, You're sick of this person. You can't
stand being around them anymore. It's just enough. I've had
it up. It seemed like in the matchup against Coachella Valley,
by the first or second period of game two, the
two teams were like those kids on a trip, right,
they had had enough of each other and it was
just time to come to blows. And eventually it encapsulated, right,

(05:40):
Kevin had a big fight and then MAV. Do you
think I'm am I making any sense here? Am I
just totally lost?

Speaker 3 (05:44):
I get what you're saying. We had, you know, I
think we were a little, like I said, frustrated with
how Friday went, and after that nots fight, it started
to get even a little more chip here. And you know,
I think we had when you again, when you have
like two of our younger guys, MAV and let's see
who you know aren't aren't necessarily no for for uh fighting.
You know, they go and they stand their ground and
they're willing to you know, drop the gloves. That that's

(06:07):
another thing that you know, we want to be a
tough team and we want to be tough to play against.
And when you have even your younger guys doing that
kind of stuff, it definitely helps you out. So yeah,
I think we eventually, you know, like you said, it
kind of came to a boiling point and uh, you know,
we were able to you know, hold our own there.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
We actually talked him everick before this, because I don't
remember ever calling him for a fighting penalty before, but
apparently this was his fifth fight and I don't remember
he had two here, one in Utah. One in juniors.
I can't remember exactly what it was, but but he's fought,
he's fought on the team before. But Julian, I don't
think i've ever called him for a five minute penalty before.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
That was.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Yeah, I think he had one. I think he did
have one last year.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Did he. I think it was a bit of a
like an outlier.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Yeah, Okay, but you know he's, uh, he's a competitive
guy and he gets going and uh, you know, he's.

Speaker 4 (06:59):
Got a very very and I don't mean this in
a derogatory way, like a very German mindset about playing hockey.
Very focused. Yeah, very focused, Yeah, very very focused when
he's out here. Okay, So I'm gonna pivot a little bit.
I'm going to take us away from the games this
weekend and I'm going to ask you a super off
the wall question because it's Veterans day to day and
we just did Military Appreciation night. If you were a

(07:21):
fighter pilot and you had a call sign, what and
it can't be GREGGI, Yeah, what do you think your
call sign would be? Or what?

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Like?

Speaker 4 (07:28):
What would you want it to be.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
A lot of I'm just thinking here, but a lot
of some of the people call me the cockroach.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
Wait in a bad way.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
It's a good way. It's like, just because I've been
around here for so long, and yeah, exactly right, I
just I just kind of stick around and I'm always
just I'm always year after year I come back here.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
And it's kind of a backhanded compliment though. It seems
like the kind of commment that your like tough grandmother
gives you where it's like, oh, you're like a cockroach,
you know, you know what, it's supposed to be good,
but there it's not all.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Pretty right, No, but I love it. But I think
since you're in two son, we should call you guaracha.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
I'm assuming that's Spanish for because.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
I kind of like it. It's a little bit more
sing song.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Well, there is a song right.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
That I didn't know that's what they were saying.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
I think I think if about coverage in the arena,
that that song should be played. What do you think
about that?

Speaker 4 (08:29):
I do that.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Yeah, Now I'm not a game ops. You know, that's
not really my Yeah, I'm always open to taking credit, but.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
I'm also trying to get them to play twenty two
by Taylor Swift when when Benny scores, I'm working. It's
a process.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
What about Benny and the Jets?

Speaker 3 (08:46):
I would I would prefer Benny and the Jets.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Really no, because I'm feeling twenty two.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
That's it's such a I call him Benny, and I
call him Benny and the Jets.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Sometimes there you go.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
I'll work on it. Sorry, you go.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Well, And I are open to being incorporated in the
game ops. You know, the operation we have ideas.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
I think in fact, Ryan, during warm ups, what's what's
the song that you want to hear? What's the music
that you're trying to vibe to when you're in warmes.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
I mean, like so sometimes I'll get I'll get the
phone before.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Games and you get the ox scords.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
Sometimes my my go to for that kind of stuff
is usually like Nickelback or like like rock kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Okay, do you know what James did on Friday Kim
has to do with nickel Back? Did you hear about this?
So there was some sort of he posted it. I
think he posted it on his social media's James is
the play by play ano, so he made twenty five
Nickelback references throughout the course of our one broadcast, he
would throw, he would make a term. I don't know
any other song titles, Ryan, my note, you could like

(09:55):
say a song. He probably said those words at some point,
and he posted all of the references, which I don't
even know how he I don't know how he did that.
But anyway, it's crazy that you said Nickelback of all
the bands, right, yeah, because.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
You don't get to hear it at all, so he
would like neither, so neither of us would have any idea.
But okay, is there a specific Nickelback song or because
I don't know any Nickelback songs, I know if you
sang one, I would recognize it.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
It wouldn't it wouldn't really be the ones that you
would recognize though, so you're a real fan. It's like,
next contestant is a good song, Animals.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
She's writing this down. I think this. I think this
could be the beginning of a new playlist for Kim. Kim,
are you spotify or you spotify Animals?

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Hold on, I think I'm still in the family plan.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Stay on it as long as you possibly can.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Are there any other passwords that you're still kind of
grifting from your parents or whatever?

Speaker 4 (10:55):
I'm still, Uh, don't don't out yourself. I don't want
you to get Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
We don't want Netflix.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
I am using somebody else's. I mean it's it's whatever.
You we don't want to use it, but it's community.
I'm using Dougs. I'm still using Dougies.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
Okay, So are you guys still in touch?

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Yeah, of course.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
Yeah. I don't know, but like I use people's Netflix.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
And they don't even know.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Yeah, exactly. So So how's he doing? What's going on?

Speaker 3 (11:24):
He's doing great, He's uh you know, I think he's
just happy to get his first taste in the NHL,
and you know, he knows, he knows his role, and
uh you know, he plays it well. And I think
he's just just trying to find his way up there,
and uh, you know, he'll be fine. He's going to
be it's gonna be a great player. And you know,
I think I think you'll see even more stuff of

(11:46):
him throwing his mits and stuff like that. So he's
obviously obviously one of my best buddies, and uh, you know,
I was so excited when that happened. Obviously tough to
to lose my roommate like that, but uh, you know,
to see him finally get a taste of the NHL
is just awesome. And I've been watching most of the
games and stuff.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
So that's awesome. Okay, wait, so then who's your roommate
this season?

Speaker 2 (12:08):
Good question?

Speaker 3 (12:09):
I'm going solo this one. Really, I just couldn't find
anyone to replace him.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
Yeah, I can see that. Wait, but between the two
of you, was one of you more cookie or cleany?

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Or it was probably more cleany. But he would also
cause the mess, seems right? Yeah, but he would go
on random spurts where he would clean up the entire place.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Now would he ever complain to be like, oh, this
table is disgusting? And then you're in the other room
like how to get discussions?

Speaker 3 (12:36):
We had? We had some arguments. He used to always
come to the rink and tell everyone that I never
picked up the vacuum and stuff like that.

Speaker 4 (12:43):
But would you only clean when his girlfriend was in town?

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Question?

Speaker 3 (12:47):
No, we cleaned. We'd probably like once a once a week.
We'd kind of bad bear it down and make sure
everything was reasonable at least. Okay, okay, but yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
So you're cooking for yourself now for myself?

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Yeah, I mean, uh, it.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Doesn't sound like cooking. This sounds like he's cook going
to cook it and it's going to Chipotle. That's what
I'm no.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
I do like to cook. Me and Doug would go
every other day, so like I would cook the one
day and he would clean that day, like the dishes
and stuff, and then the next day I'd be or
he'd be in charge and I'd have to clean the dishes.
This year, I've been I mean Benny and walks live
like right beside me. So hopefully we can get together

(13:30):
for some dinners or only one person has to cook.
And Polko had me over the other day, which was nice.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
I had dinner with him and his wife. His wife cooked.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Yeah, yeah, what I got it. This is a very
important question. So what do you like to make? What
what is in your repertoire as a chef.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
I don't have too deep of a bag. I'm pretty uh,
pretty standard. I can cook like good meat, like I
cook like usually what I would do. I mean, I
have some like I make a good kariaki stir fry.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
He says his bag is shallow. Then he goes right
into the bottom.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
I make this one pass that everyone makes fun of
me for. That's like it's a sausage and then there's
apples in it, so it's like like peel the apples,
put the apples in, and there's like some spinach and stuff.
It's good.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
Interesting. Wait like a bowl? Are you like a bowl? Guy?
And then that's what you're using it in?

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (14:24):
Okay that sounds weet what I'm doing response? Yeah, yeah, obviously. Yeah,
I'm over here making sandwiches because I don't want to cook,
and especially like if there's nobody cleaning up, I'm not
I'm not dirtying a dish at all. Never. No, okay, wait,
so we're gonna have to ask you because Barbie Knight
is coming up, which I know you're so excited for. Yeah, yes,

(14:47):
it's it's uncontrollable. What is the most Barbie thing about you?
Did you see the Barbie movie? Did anybody make you
watch Barbie?

Speaker 3 (15:00):
I've seen it, like not that I've seen at least
parts of it. I don't know if I've liked you
didn't go to the theater and absolutely.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Not my girlfriend.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Yeah, it was a great movie.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
I thought it was. Okay, there's a lot of it's
a star studded cast.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Yes, of course.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
I don't know I don't like what what would you
consider something Barbie about anyone?

Speaker 2 (15:22):
It's a very tough question.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
So Barbie has had a lot of jobs and has
done a lot of things in her life, and wear's
a lot of different outfits.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
You have any fashion sets or not? Really?

Speaker 3 (15:33):
No, I mean this is this is probably my most
fashionable outfits.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
This is a radio vehicle. So Ryan has got kind
of a beige. How would you describe this game? The
upper upper garment first.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
A very light kind of like a cream.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
But I like the outer texture here looks it looks
more like a blanket over comfy.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
It does. Yeah, the sweatshirt and well pants, but the
second you go outside, you're going to be it's eighty
five degrees inside your rigside.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
It's a little but chili here at the TCC.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
We do need to talk about the footwear though, because
the footwear is not it that is not far all. Yeah.
I know, yeah, I know, you guys love I know
that you guys love the shower shoes. But like that's cue.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
I'm a University of Arizona campus. This is absurd. I
can't understand this. I want to get your take on this, Ryan.
I will see now I'm not in any Greek life,
but it's very popular at they so when they have
functions or whatever, sometimes they have to dress nice, at
least for the beginning. Right, they will wear black suit pants,
a white button up shirt, a black blazer, and flip flops. Yeah,

(16:32):
are you kidding me?

Speaker 4 (16:33):
No?

Speaker 2 (16:33):
I mean, how does it? Oh, oh, it's real. It's
eighty percent. You'll be walking around campus suit, no tie,
open button. Flip flops, by the way, should not be
he just externalized they should be covered. That's my take.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
While I kind of agree with you, I got no,
I'm of course not in a suit, but that's.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
The most ridiculous thing I've ever seen, and I'm in
the minority. I try to sound the alarms on campus.
I say, we need to stop this, this can't be happening,
and they look at me like I'm crazy, Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Like I've wore flip flops with like jeans before and
and pants, but not I try and wear shoes when
I can.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
I had a long conversation with Extra Teaming before this
about fashion and about.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Like he's fashionable, he'simidated.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
You think he's trying to be fashion. I think he's
super fashionable, especially he's got that crushed velvet jacket, that
black one with the want to.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Wear black shirts, which is a very it's a it's
a tough look to pull off because you either come
off like you're trying to be tough or you're terrifying.
All right, what do you think? You think? Which one?

Speaker 3 (17:37):
Do you think he's I think he's certainly tough.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
No, No, I think I think he's got it.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Yeah, I mean I don't own a black dress shirt.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Maybe he's the type of guy that wearing it. It's
authentic to him.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
But he was saying that when he was coming up,
he actually had a fashion mentor, like there was a
guy like he was dressed in like super basic, and
then there was one of his teammates who was dating
a model in LA who was like help, she was
helping his teammate. So then his teammate helped him, and
it like his his fashion sense has evolved over time,
but that he like can't really like share that with you.

(18:10):
Guys like that needs to come from like knots And yeah,
I go, I mean, yeah, he's.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
Is that true?

Speaker 4 (18:17):
Oh yeah, it's a good thing.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
He didn't get any big bruises in that fight because
you can't be wearing, you know, a very expensive outfit.
Then you come walking. They were in with a black
eye and a scar down your cheek.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
Right, Knots looks great coming in in the suit. He's
so well put together. Everything that he's wearing looks like
it was tailored exactly for him. But even when he
left practice, right now he looked perfect, looks like he's
going to go do a GQ suit. It's fantastic.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
And what are your thought? So does he get any
criticism in the locker room for that or is he
admired for his fashion?

Speaker 3 (18:47):
I would say he's admired. I admire him.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
So this is a progressive locker room.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
I come in when I come in, like usually we
do come in around the same time for practice days,
and I'll usually be like changeing whatever, and he'll walk
and I'll be like, Knots, man, you look great. He
brings that. You'll never see his hair not not in
an is.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
He because there's usually two reasons, right for somebody, he's
either single and he is trying to market himself in
a certain way, or there's like you said, that's that's puppeteering.
This operation and making sure that he looks the way
that they want.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
I do wonder how much which is his wife has.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
So he has a wife, Okay, yea, his wife, Brooke,
I think she has h I think she has some
saying that.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Yeah, but it sounds like, you know, he's got it
under control on his own.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
I think he enjoys like looking good himself. He looks
like a Greek god.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
So really, yeah, it's amazing.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
Age like a fine wine.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
I love that you appreciate really about him, because yeah,
he just looks good. It looks so good, like we
need to bring back Have you guys heard the term
metro sexual? I have. It's an older term. I want
to say, it's from like the early two thousands, and
it was guys who just cared about their parents and
really took care of themselves, you know.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
So okay, I would say he's that he is.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
A very metrosexual. Wait, so who would be the least
metrosexual guy on the team?

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Oh boy, hm hmm, maybe good question. Okay, you're stumping
him today. I'm doing all these softballs, and then every
time Kim has a question, it is just maybe Pogo.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Pogo's Pogo's very uh see.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
And he's married too, ye say that? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (20:31):
And he and I know I know Cary. His wife
gets all his clothes for him and stuff.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
He's very sporty.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
I think he Yeah, he just doesn't like like when
he comes in the rink, he's wearing Lulu shorts and yeah,
whatever shirt he picked up off the ground.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
For sure. I'm trying to think, do you have any
seen have you seen anybody that walked out today where
you were.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Like, mmm, Now, I'm not a good I'm not a
good resource because I do the pregame show here, so
I'm up here hours before, so I don't get to
see the player introductions or anything like that. So I
really you're kind of barking up the wrong tree. It
doesn't going off vibes.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
I think you can tell kind of different countries of guys,
that's true, based on their how they're dressing for pregame.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
And let's be honest, just quietly, the Europeans are behind?
Am I wrong? Ryan?

Speaker 3 (21:15):
I wouldn't say they're behind.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
I think they're there there ahead.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
And our French or French like MAVs, mav has a
good suit game.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
It depends, well, I.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
Guess is Julian.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
I think it depends on the country.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
You really think even I think Julian, I mean Julian does.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
Julian has personalized suits his name.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
Yeah, well that's obviously I'm.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Trying to think dudes and dudes and booter.

Speaker 4 (21:41):
It's okay, MAV has got to have he's got to
have custom suits. He's too tall and not.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Yeah, I think every I think at that height, you've
got to be everything is has almost even getting into
a car. I hope he has appropriate size, but not
like a sports car because that would not be that
would not be fun.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
What is he drive? Do you know Montana everywhere?

Speaker 3 (22:03):
It's uh, he had an Audie. Oh no, it's a
nice car.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Was it an suv or a little guy?

Speaker 4 (22:11):
David is very concerned.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Can you imagine him trying to duck into a small Audi?

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Wait, what does Curtis drive?

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Because he drove like a like an Audi suv suv. Yeah,
and he still looks small in it.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
I can imagine that he did. He had a really
long Torso too. Curtis does like he needs a special
a special vehicle.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yes, this conversation, let's be let's I don't know if
we got some sort of map where we started, how
we got here, but we went through outfits right where
were we before? That?

Speaker 4 (22:40):
I could, But we do need to talk about Arby's
Cares because you got together with the kids from Candle
Lighters yesterday. I got about Salon for an Arby's Cares event.
Tell us. Can you tell us about that? I saw
a tiny bit of it on socials, but I want
to know what happened.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Yeah, it was awesome. So we went there. We met
all the kids and talked to them for a bit,
and then some of them got their hair like kind
of done up and sparkly and a bunch of different
colors and stuff. And then they got each guy, each
one of the players got a couple of their own
personal stylists in the kids, and we kind of just

(23:21):
let them do whatever they wanted.

Speaker 4 (23:23):
And did you get your hair cut by any of them?

Speaker 3 (23:27):
They didn't cut any, but they were They were giving
me ponytails and a bunch of glitter, a bunch of colors.
I had two kids, Francisco and Ivan, their brothers, and
they were they were taking good care of me.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
That's fantastic. Were you happy walking out of there?

Speaker 2 (23:44):
Yeah? It was.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
I I mean, it was just good. They seemed like
they all really enjoyed it, so you know, obviously that
that made us all happy too, and it was a
good it was a great event and you know, good
to see them having fun.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
That's awesome. And okay, so who else went with from
the team? Went with? You guys?

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Moresy tools Aggie.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
Oh, I didn't see him in socials.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Yeah he was there, oh hebs heebs. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Yeah, okay, mister mayor, the mayor.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
This is the assistant mayor Ryan mcgra's sixth season, right, yeah, yeah,
assistant mayor Heaves is the mayor.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
Sometimes I think James and I get a little bit
too stuck on that nickname, but we think it's funny.
And I joke that usually a shifty mayor is a
bad thing because they're corrupt and trust them. But he
can be shifty out there and it's a good thing.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
He is definitely not a politician. Actually you aren't either, Ryan,
neither of your politicians, which I think it's an apt
you can be the mayor and in the assistant mayor
because you're not. They're not shifty political political people.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
Yeah that's good.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
Okay, we don't have much time left with you. Thank
you so much for giving me much. But I have
a dad joke. If you want to hear a dad joke.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
Sure, I would love to.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Are you ready David for my dad joke? O the
day I know you're going to be so upset by
my dad joke. He really hates that.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
That's not true. I'm lukewarm on them. I'm not ice
cold on them.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
You're usually very quiet after I tell them, Okay ready,
I really like this one. I tried to start a
professional hide and seek team, but it didn't work out.
It turns out good players are hard to find, absolutely cliant.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
It's yeah, it's on that note, it's a good dad joke.
On that note, we're gonna leave Ryan to evaluating everybody's
fashion in the locker room and hopefully scoring some more
clutch goals, especially the next four games against Colorado, a
team that's been doing very well. So best of luck
against Colorado. If you want to score in the final
three minutes, we're not gonna stop.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
You, and we're gonna play some nickelback when you're back
for the time.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
I really appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
Thanks guys, Thanks, and.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Welcome back to Happy Hour. On Fox Sports fourteen fifty
AM Tucson Sports Station. We just heard from Ryan McGregor,
the man who scored a really timely goal for the
Roadrunners to send a Saturday's game to overtime, a game
that would eventually be won by Daniel Boot his hat
trick goal there in overtime. Very dramatic, very exciting, A
good game and a good crowd here we mentioned in
the interview. I think it was one of the top,

(26:10):
if not the best atmosphere of the season given and
they went home really excited because that was a highlight game.
I mean, let's be honest, that might be one of
the ones we circle back to at the end of
the year when we're you know, kind of memorializing the season.
But anyway, let's circle back to Ryan. I thought it
was a fun interview. Yeah, we dove into some interesting topics.
What did you think of Ryan? What was your impression
and just overall thoughts on our conversation with him.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
Well, I love Ryan McGregor. He has been actually he's
been here a season longer than I have, so I
knew him as if. I mean I just saw him
as a fan and then have gotten to know him
over the last five seasons that I've been with the team,
just a great chat. He's just a good human being.
And honestly, I mean I him and Dougie, watching the

(26:54):
two of them over the last like what three or
four seasons together. When he told me and I asked him,
I said, well, where's Curtis And he told me, and
I was like so heartbroken for him when he said that,
because there were such a pair the entire time that
they were here. So but very very insightful conversation about

(27:14):
fashion in.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
The locker room. Yes, And here's the thing the nature
of today. I won't get into all the details behind
the scenes, but our interview came together late. There wasn't
any prep. There was no production meeting, right, we were
kind of running on the fly. That conversation completely arose organically,
and that's where that's the avenue it took. Right, we
went fashion, and I'm glad that we did because frankly,

(27:36):
like you said, it was interesting. But there was no prep.
I just want to preface that we just ended up
talking about clothes. That's what happened.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
And this is the thing about Ryan, is that so
we were supposed to interview somebody else that person had
confirmed and then like you said, you don't, I don't
want to get we don't want to get into it.
But we got pushed back so far that it was
our fault. Yeah, there was the Veterans State parade. None
of us could get to the TCC to send anything
up because we weren't paying attention to the fact that
there was a parade surrounding the TCC today, and so

(28:05):
who we were supposed to interview actually had to leave,
and so we were scrambling trying to find somebody who
could who could do the interview, and Ryan came walking
out of the locker room literally just asked him off
the cough, hey can you do an interview with us
right now? And he didn't even hesitate, no no hesitation,
just was like, yeah, let's go. He had to sit
down and eat lunch and we finished setting up. But

(28:25):
that's the kind of person. He is, just a very
very selfless he he very much like Cameron. He big, selfless, humble,
but very powerful out on the ice and a lot
of fun to watch well.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
And we were joking that he's not a politician, but
we wish our politicians maybe would be more selfless, humble,
like McGregor is the assistant mayor the vice mayor.

Speaker 4 (28:47):
I guess you, Oh, is that what it's called this?

Speaker 2 (28:49):
It would be I think it would be. You're right,
but at least maybe I'm paying attention a little bit
at the um, certainly paying attention to the block set
of being worn, which, like I said, drives me. Have
you ever have you ever observed that i'm camp as much?

Speaker 4 (29:03):
No, I used to live over there, not just a
couple of years ago. I'm so happy I haven't seen
this because seen a man's toes is very disturbing to me.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
And I recognize that there's no real I always, I always,
even around when I'm just lobbing around at home, I
wear socks. Yes, nobody wants to nobody?

Speaker 4 (29:22):
No, And in fact, like, is there a phobia name
for that? Like a rocking aphobia? You're scared of sweat?
If I'm scared of man's toes out in public? No,
I don't want to see it.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
And that's I'm absolutely valid. I don't know. I can't
understand that. I don't know if it's confidence or maybe
it's oblivion. Are these people obli Yeah? I mean, how
can you just be parading around and flip flops all
the time. But I can understand it.

Speaker 4 (29:46):
It's I had heard somewhere years ago that it's super
unhealthy to do that to your feet, like because there's
so much bacteria stuff on the ground and you're probably
kicking it up onto your feet and then taking it
into your house. And then yeah no, so no, I
am a big, no, big hard no person on them.
So glad I haven't seen it. If you're listening to
this and you go to the U a stop, it
just gonna cut it out. Nobody wants that. It's not fun.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
It's a you know, so zero some games and then
there's a positive some game. This is a negative something
so zero some game is like a hockey game, right,
you have a winner and a loser. Yeah, so it
flip flops. Everybody losing losers negative some game. Right, The
people wearing them are losing, and the people seeing them
certainly are losing.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
Losers on losers, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
We should avoid negative some games at all costs, and
that means we got to put the flip flops in
the closet. If you're going to the beach, if you're
going to the pool. If there's water involved, bring them out.
You can wear them. But if we're just if this
is a dry operation, if there's no pool, there's no towel.
If you don't need to bring a blanket, then keep
the flip flops in the closet. Kim.

Speaker 4 (30:49):
I love that we had that whole conversation with Ryan. Well,
he he wears.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Out out and he just had to sit there and
take it. You know what. I'm fine with that because
I think maybe, just maybe we may change something because
you could see he wasn't particularly proud of himself in
that moment. I think he was. I think he was
a shame.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
Maybe maybe, yeah, maybe we put some change into his mind.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Certainly, here's what here's here's all we should have asked,
because he had such deep admiration for Kevin, would Kevin
could not wear flip flocks?

Speaker 4 (31:15):
Absolutely no, out, absolutely not. We both know the answer
to that. Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
There you go. So maybe if we phrased it that way,
if we had kind of the framing of what Kevin do,
then that wouldn't be the case, and maybe that should
be Maybe we should change the name of happy Hour
to just what would Kevin do? And I'd spend the
time just heaping praise on him and changing the minds
of young people across the globe.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
I think that's a great idea. But I also think
that especially with with Ryan and Heaves and guys that
have been with us for longer than two seasons, we
need to dig back into the archives and see if
we've had some fashion evolutions happening here.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
That's a good point we need.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
We need to see if maybe they have been trying. Yeah, right,
I mean, and honestly, we're post practice, right, So I'm
wearing sweats you're wearing a sweatshirt, like, there's not a
lot of this at least.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
I'm wearing shoes that are a respectable but I am
right now.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
Yeah, so let's be honest about that.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
So, not a lot of effort was put in on
any of our parts today on that. But if we
had had Kevin Cannaton in here, you and I would
have definitely have to Yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Well, there would have been a power imbalance. I mean,
I don't think the player should be better dressed than
the broadcast. He has the power.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
Yeah, he would have the power.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
I think that would be interesting.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
So anyway, Ryan McGregor, we give our appreciation to him, right,
very good interview, very thankful. Like you said, it came
together late. He made himself available, so we're we're very
glad about that, and we're also glad that he's back
in the roster. He played well, had an impact on
Saturday's game. We hope he'll be in the roster. We
don't want to, certainly, we have trust in coach Podmin,
but I think that he justified himself at least another

(32:48):
game with the way he played on Saturday, So we'll see.
I'm sure he'll get a chance against Colorado these next
couple of games. But yeah, we're we're happy to have
Ryan on the team. And he's one of the most
popular guys I think in that locker room as well
Kim well.

Speaker 4 (33:01):
And also he did the Arby's Cares Candle Lighters Kids
event yesterday, so him taking the time to talk to
us today. We try not to overload the guys with
too many things away from the ice. We try to
be very strategic about pulling them for something on one
day and then giving them a day off from talking.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
Especially are day, and we know they will get.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
Their clubs yes, uh huh. So yeah, for him to
do to do both events and anybody who hasn't seen
it on socials and I know they're going to release
more the the hairdos that this guy's got yesterday, and
I know Late and more we did talk about it,
but Late Moore actually did get a haircut yesterday, so
I don't know what his mullet looks like. I did

(33:43):
see him after practice, but he was wearing a hat.
So yeah, that was an incredible event, very very excited
that the boys were able to participate with candle lighters
and Arby's and get about salon. Just absolutely phenomenal event.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
So I was thinking, great event. We're very should but
the players make themselves available as much as they do it.
We're very fortunate to have a good group that the
Roadrunners certainly have. Now, just back pedaling a little bit,
I think because Chase isn't busy enough, we're gonna give
it more work. I think we should assign him to
go into the archives and look at the tape of
what they were wearing, players that have been here for

(34:17):
a while and see how they've evolved.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
Chase our boss, I think I think that's.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Our boss's job. What do we think about that? Because
I don't think it can be my job. It's definitely
I got to get it away from me. So Chase
is the first thing that came to my mind. So
I think maybe we foist that onto him.

Speaker 4 (34:30):
Well, let's punt it. We're punting. It's not you and me,
it's not Michael.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
Michael, Michael, do you want to do that? I'm gonna
guess he doesn't.

Speaker 4 (34:38):
No, Yeah, no, no, no that he's not going to
do that.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
Cha archives for the job, as they would say on
Paul Patrol Chases on the case, Kim Patrol, that's right.

Speaker 4 (34:48):
Oh wait, I don't want to cut that out.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
If I would think that we do, I wouldn't think.
Although maybe iHeart somewhere is connected with Disney again, I
think they're probably mutually losing. But anyway, Chase, I think
it's his job, and we got to get in the
tapes here I want to see. I think he raised
a very interesting point. Has there been a fashion evolution?
That is the question amongst these plays.

Speaker 4 (35:11):
You just need to see growth.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
We want to see growth. Yeah, And has Kevin Connaughton
had a direct impact on these young men?

Speaker 4 (35:17):
There's no way he hasn't. There's no way that he
hasn't because.

Speaker 2 (35:20):
I'm taking on testimony I've never really seen Kevin. I
mean I'm going because you're here during price exactly right,
and posty all the whole thing. I'm always up here.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
He I think he might be in socials. I will
try and take a picture of him next time I
see him. That's on me that I could want to
be that guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't want to
be a creepy guy.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Now we know that you do like to do a
little bit of research before the interview. Oh yeah, did
you find a lot on Ryan before or were you
going in blind? No?

Speaker 4 (35:47):
I kind of went in blind and checked out his instant.
His instacle is back far. His instacle is back to
like twenty thirteen.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Wow, Yeah, I didn't even know Instagram was around in thirteen?

Speaker 4 (35:56):
Is that before? You were?

Speaker 2 (36:00):
Not quite?

Speaker 4 (36:00):
His instagram goes back really far. But he said he
doesn't do it that often, which made me laugh because
it's a very hockey bro and stuff. It's super super
hockey codd.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
But it does go there's a lot of pictures there.

Speaker 4 (36:14):
Yeah, it does go back to twenty three.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Hockey Jersey.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
Yeah, hockey Jersey is his first pictures and then this
has got to be high school stuff.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
In and this seems to me like he's trying to
get himself attention on a national spotlight maybe with some
of these posts. Here's my highlights.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
Check me out, coach, Yeah, look at look at baby.
Ryan McGregor here from twenty.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
Forty doesn't like a hockey kid.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
Yeah, and his haircut's exactly the same. Oh my god,
we should have talked about that. There's no evolution to
that haircut. He looks exactly the same now eleven years ago.
That's insane. And then there is a picture of him
and his brothers here, he said, there's one picture of
him and his brothers. This is it. And they both
so one looks like we didn't talk about this at all,

(36:56):
but one looks like an older brother and really looks
like a younger brother. But they both look very much
like him.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
He's obviously in the middle.

Speaker 4 (37:03):
Yeah, that's what it was.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
It would be pretty confident. Now. The other thing that
Ryan said off the air, and we have a lot
of Arizona residents that listen to this, and I'm sure
some of them maybe are snowbirds and they come from
cold their climates. He drives from Toronto, kim Ever to
Tucson and back. Yep. Now I go from the northeast,
and I can't even fathom that. I can't. It's a

(37:26):
long flight. Let's be honest about that. That would be a
five hour plus flight when the plane is traveling five
hundred miles per hour with no traffic, there's nothing in
its way. It's just a straight shot at five hundred
miles per hour, and it's still an all day affair.
That's a flight. We're talking about driving. Are you kidding me?

Speaker 4 (37:40):
I can't believe he does season they all do.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
My question to I'm sorry to cut you up, and
my question to our listeners do you do similar? Right?
Are you also making thousand mile treks to come here
to the old Pleeblo in the winter? What do you say?

Speaker 4 (37:52):
Some of them probably are, maybe, you know, like people
who have winnebagos. So the guys are just doing it
in their cars, in their street cars, right because they
need their cars here while they're here. So that's why
his car is coming, His dad is bringing his car.
Next Trooper, Yeah, solo tripping it from Toronto down here.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
I love say what you will?

Speaker 4 (38:13):
Yeah, and yeah I would imagine there's there's I the
folks at Davis Monton. I know you don't know this,
but there is an RV park on Davis Monton for
veterans who who want to come park their Winnebago's over there.
There's definitely people who drive down from the frozen tundra
ton and just hang out here. Well at CDY five degree.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
I mean the vet's that that lives somewhere called Yeah,
and they say, all right, I am, I'm gonna make
the most of my winter here.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Yeah, that's great. Yeah, I mean you've seen them on
the freeway and they're like usually towing a jeep or
something or like some some kind of convertible situation.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
That's a nice thing that the base does.

Speaker 4 (38:50):
That's a it is nice. Yeah, discounted rate out there,
I think I would assume that it is. But it's
a nice little spot right in the corner of base.
And I know that there's other spots in town. So
there's there's definitely got to be people Minnesota, Wisconsin. Yeah, No,
I'm sure Canadians.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
So let's let's get let's get this straight. Though. We
obviously thank you for your service as a veteran. Now
today is veterans days. We're taking this, are you gonna
take advantage? You're gonna seize the moment with some of
the discounts out there.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
So I always forget about the veterans dating benefits. But
then we were talking to Chase just before this and
he told it, told me about the Chipotle, So you're
gonna I'm going I'm gonna go to Chipotle.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
A right after right after this recording or is that
later in the day.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
No, I'm probably gonna go a little bit towards dinner time.
But I'm pretty excited because I was just gonna eat whatever,
and I wasn't even thinking about it, And I always
forget about this.

Speaker 2 (39:41):
So I think the world is dying to know Kim
kodoroblez Waltz is into Chipotle. What are you ordering?

Speaker 4 (39:46):
Ooh oh, I don't even know. Oh my goodness, It's
never the same thing.

Speaker 2 (39:50):
Okay, so you mix it up. Yeah, I'm a creature
of habit. I'm I'm gonna get burrito. I would get
a burrito.

Speaker 4 (39:55):
Okay, Yeah, wait is ita?

Speaker 2 (39:58):
I like barbacoa?

Speaker 4 (39:59):
Oh? Okay, good to know, Yeah, good to know. I
can't tolerate spicy food. Yeah, so some of the meats
at Chipotle spy for me, so I had to get.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
No matter where I go, I have an order and
I'm sticking to it, whether it's oh yeah, Chipotle or anywhere.

Speaker 4 (40:16):
Right, You're not like me, not typically I like to
mix it up because they don't go to Chipotle a ton,
so I do like to mix it up a little bit.
But yeah, I think that's my stop today. I'm pretty excited.
I'm so glad I stopped to talk to Chase.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
Now, obviously I haven't served, but I love free things,
so I'm happy for you. I'm a little bit jealous,
but you certainly have earned it and much more than
just the free burrito, So good luck on that. I
hope that you make the right choice, thank you, and
get the right order. I think we have to take
a break here on Happy Hour on Fox Sports fourteen fifty.
Coming up next, we're gonna touch on Tucson's matchup with Colorado.

(40:51):
They play them four consecutive games, two on the road
and then two back here at the TCC will recap
kind of what we talked about, and we'll look ahead.
Stay with us right here on Happy Our Fox Sports
fourteen fifty. We thank you so much for joining us
here on our one hour get together. Earlier in the show,
we spoke to Ryan McGregor, the man who had the
clutch goal under three minutes left in regulation, got the

(41:12):
road Runners to an overtime period and then allowed for
Daniel Boot to shine. Boot scored his third goal of
the game. Hats flew high drama in the TCC and
the Roadrunners were able to salvage a split with the
Coachella Valley Firebirds, And as Kim mentioned, I wanted to touch
on this earlier. Coachella Valley they did a credit to

(41:32):
where credit is due, and certainly some of us were
frustrated by it, but they traveled and they had a
presence here there. Fans did a great job. We saw
some crack in jerseys, We saw some Coachella Valley merch
and even their mascot Fuego, who I ridiculed a little
bit on Friday. He was in the building making a
little bit of a mockery here, taunting fans. But all

(41:52):
the kind of fun stuff that goes into a hockey game.
So credit where credit is due to Coachella Valley. They
have a good fans. It certainly seems like their new
a newer team, new expansion team in the AHL, and
they're doing a nice job with that process. So very
impressive there. I did mock Fuego, like I said, maybe
made a joke that we could have taken him down

(42:12):
to KFC and eradicated him from here and that maybe
he would be spicy, but we'll leave that. We'll leave
that there. Anyway, it was a really competitive series with
Coachella Valley young talent, youngest team in the league to
track meet type of games. The Roadrunners got the better
of the Firebirds in game number two, and Daniel Boot,
who is playing better than he is right now for

(42:33):
this team, leads the team in points. He's just twenty
years old. You have to think those up in Utah
are paying attention to what he is doing because he
has been immensely impressive. Seven goals, six assists, but like
I said, three goals scored in just the last game,
and he is really turning it around. And the other
thing about Daniel He's been playing with different lines, different combinations,

(42:54):
and it hasn't mattered wherever you put Daniel Boot. He
is producing and that's really the mark of a great player.
So we want to give him credit. Cameron he Big,
he has been a rock on this team as well.
He has been very consistent, very dependable. Eleven points on
the year with six goals and five assists. So those
two really have been incredibly reliable. And Ben McCartney he's
been a great facilitator. We got to give him some

(43:15):
love as well. Seven assists on the season, that is
up towards the top. He leads forwards in assist obviously
Perunovic and Duda, they do such a nice job facilitating,
whether it be the power player just running the offense
from the point. They have eight assists, but among forwards,
Ben McCartney he's the guy with seven eleven points on
the season off of four goals. So those are kind

(43:37):
of the players that have really been doing a nice
job for the road Runners. And let's be honest, they
are going to need their best. They're going to have
to hit the Eagles with their best shot because Colorado
is all alone at the top of the Pacific Division,
and frankly, it's not close. They have twenty three points
this season in fourteen games. That's a record of eleven
to two, zero to one. So the Eagles are playing

(43:58):
a very high level of hockey, and I do think
the road Runners are capable of competing, especially this weekend
up on the road in the Rockies. But they're going
to have to play well, There's no question about that.
They are going to have to be their best version,
and that means some of those players I just highlighted,
they're going to have to keep it running and play
to the best of their abilities because this will be
a terrific challenge. Now, the road Runners are infamiliar territory.

(44:21):
They're hovering around five hundred and five to five and
two on the season, twelve points across twelve games, right
in the middle of the pack in the Pacific Division.
They're tied with excuse me, Bakersfield and Coachella Valley tied
for fifth, but twelve games played for the road Runners,
so really you got to give the edge to Bakersfield
and Coachella Valley who have only played eleven games. Now, yes,

(44:43):
Colorado is at the top, but they've played fourteen games,
two more than two so on three more than a
lot of teams. But they're winning those games, so you
really can't hold it against them. Eleven wins by far
the most in the Pacific Division. Gonna be a tough
challenge going on the road, but then the Eagles are
going to come back. So I mentioned there was some
animosity between Tucson and Coachella Valley after just two games.

(45:04):
Imagine the let's say, tense relations between those two teams
when it comes time for game four of four between
Colorado and Tucson. That game is gonna be here at
the TCC. That'll be next weekend. So they've got two
games on the road seven oh five puck drop for
both this Friday and Saturday coverage here on Fox Sports
fourteen fifty up in the Rockies, and then Colorado comes

(45:25):
to Tucson for a Saturday game on the twenty second
that's at seven o'clock and a Sunday game that's at four.
So what I'm telling you, if you're kind of trying
to read between the lines, is I would probably buy
a ticket for that Sunday game because I'm telling you
four games straight the same two teams, they're not gonna
be happy with each other. There's gonna be some frustration
on one side or the other, and it's gonna be

(45:47):
like that analogy I made. It's gonna be like those
two kids on a trip together. Day three, day four,
they're gonna want to rip each other's hair out. They're
sick of each other. And I think there could be
flight fights plural, not one fight, several fights between Colorado
and Tucson by Sunday, November twenty third. So if you're
looking for tickets, circle Sunday, but also Saturday. Look, this

(46:07):
is one of the top teams. They've got prospects all
over the place, So if you're really looking for high
level hockey, this is going to be one of the
series that you want to target. Can't make it to
the arena, We'll have coverage for you on audio coverage
on Fox Sports fourteen fifty and for the home series,
we will have a Tucson Roadrunners broadcast on HLTV now
on Flow Sports, so certainly you can watch there and

(46:29):
hear what James and I have to say. Now, some
of the names to keep an eye on, there's really
two that I've been impressed with with the Eagles. The
first one is TJ. Tynan. He is just an unbelievable
facilitator as a forward. He has sixteen assists. You have
a hard time finding another play with that kind of impact,
not just in the Pacific Division, but in the entire
American Hockey League. He hasn't scored a goal of this season,

(46:49):
but TJ Tynan, when he gets the puck, he makes
things happen, so keep an eye on him. And then
also Tristan Nielsen. He has eight goals this year, so
he is a very impressive player. If those whoever on
the ice together, look out because they can make things
happen and they can score, you know, with very little
hesitation or sign So this is a team that can strike.
And we heard Ryan McGregor say that they're gonna be

(47:12):
similar to Coachell the value. They're going to push, the pace,
they're going to play fast, and it should make for
a very compelling watch. It should make for a very
compelling series. So just one more time here before we
wrap up on Happy Hour seven o'clock puck drop This
weekend Friday and Saturday on the road coverage right here
on Fox Sports fourteen to fifty, and then next weekend
a home series. Buy your tickets at Tucson Roadrunners dot
com and Ticketmaster. Saturday the twenty second and Sunday the

(47:34):
twenty third. Sunday game at four o'clock. Thank you so
much for listening to Happy Hour, our interview with Ryan
McGregor right here on Fox Sports fourteen to fifty
