Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Coast Breakfast Bonus podcast with Tony Jason Sam.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
This is Coa's Breakfast with Tony Jason Sam. Now, have
you ever met someone and thought, I wish I hand
your energy? How do they have so much energy when
you're quietly dying in a pit of lethargy. I've just
described Sam Wallace's life.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Do you think that quite often? Sammy, yeah, one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Like I try to be energy because often as I can,
but sometimes my world of three young children gets the
better of me.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
And I'm here for Lisa's tips. We are the great users.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Lisa O'Neill is with us and her new book is
called Energy, How to Get It, Guard It, and Give It.
And if you've ever heard Lisa speak, you will know
she has a whole lot of energy despite being a
mother of four, very busy. Every time I see you, Lisa,
you are a bundle of joy. How do you get
to that point?
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Well, I think it's my whole focus. Like I spend
every single decision I make every days about what gives
me more energy and what makes me happy. Every single
decision from what I wear to what I drink, to
where I sleep to what I eat Okay, it's just
my whole focus because I think it's our only job.
All right, let's start with that. Then what do you drink?
(01:12):
I do drink. I am a coffee at it. I
love coffee as.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
A replace for alcohol and that energy.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
No, no, it'll mess your energy. Zero alcohol. Are you
a teetotal No, No, I'm not, no, because I'm not that.
I'm not that sort of exact about anything. So my
kids are I thought you didn't drink, and I'm like,
I'm having a cocktail because i want one, and I
just have what i want. I'm big on being lead
by once. With that theme, then what do you eat
for energy? A lot of protein and a lot of egies, cabs.
(01:39):
I love calves. I would live on cabs if I could,
but they dunp my energy. So like on a Friday night,
I can consume a whole pizza and I can barely
speak because I'm just in this cab coma. But you
found happiness and it's like, and that's all good, But
I can't do that on a Wednesday afternoon when I'm
about to speak at a conference. So to me, it's
about following. I reckon your energy. Last year three hours.
(02:00):
Everything you eat is the next three hours, so it's like,
how do you have to be the next three hours
and eat for that? So Checken and broccoli is my
go to. I'm like chicken and broccoli go to and
that I'm on fire. If I have Checken and BROCOLI okay,
I have spuds, You're okay.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
So the carbs are the low energy, although you will
allow yourself.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
I love calves and I have them.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
This whole planning of your energy, when do you get
time to plan? Because I'm thinking. I sometimes think to myself,
I need to plan my meals for this week, and
then my attention gets taken and then I forget. So
do you actually sit down and do you journal? How
are you going to have good energy? Or is it
just a constant focus in your mind.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
It's kind of a constant focus. But I do have
two meetings with myself a week, and my favorite meetings.
I love them. I have catering and it's a meeting
all for me. And occasionally get a meeting with myself.
You know, the meeting with yourself is very good. It's
very good. Does low your energy? This is a meeting
with pen and papers? Oh so you're having a meeting
(02:57):
and you're writing down what you've got to do and
how you want to be. And so I actually created
a planner for that because I couldn't find a way
of managing my life that was quite big, and little
diaries went big enough, you know. So I think that's important.
But most of it's intuitive. I go what do I want?
And you know how when someone said, oh, what do
you want, and you go what? But you haven't even
thought about it. It's just an automated response instead of going,
(03:17):
actually I want a long black or like really thinking
about what do you want and your body will lead
you to what you need? You go, actually, no, I
just need water right now. Yeah, we're on auto because
we don't connect. I think intuition is so big and
just connecting with actually what do I want? I just
need to lie down, or I just need to go
and stand outside, or what do you need right now?
But we don't give ourselves our needs. We don't we
(03:40):
override them because we go, oh, no, I can't be
high maintenance and well offend people? Oh do you offend people?
In time? And with that being offended to a choice,
and I think if I offend people, I'm getting it right.
You don't want to everyone to like you. It's a
boring game. You don't Vanilla. No, I'm not at all.
And I'm like, yeah, cold, you're offended. That was your choice,
(04:01):
you know, offend. It's a choice, and I think people
are I'm offended.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
But what about dependence because I'm looking at Sam and
you can't just get say I'm going to make this
decision You're three years old.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Will be offended then you know what I mean. But
I think to break it down is energy and attitude
as opposed. Yeah, I think so. And I think when
with little kids, like they are a lot of work right,
But it's not a surprise to mate.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
You're not in Ukraine.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
It's like and I think it's a strategies And I
used to have strategies like I'd go right, everyone's going
to blanket Bay, and blanket Bay meant lie down. I
don't care what you do. You have terrible strategies.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
To four is easier than three.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
I think number.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
I think we've come back to the realization that you
need to read the book and it's called energy.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
How to get it, guard it and give it.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Lisa, thank you for your time, and if we can
read this and get an ounce of your energy, you'll
be very happy.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Easy.
