Speaker 1 (00:00):
Coast Breakfast brought to you by Bargain Chemist their policy
New Zealand's cheapest Chemist.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Tony Jason Sam's feel Good Breakfast Can't Shut podcast sat.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
On the show. We pick apart the most successful Olympic
campaigns New Zealand has ever had, and there are some
Doozi absolutely.
Speaker 4 (00:18):
And I've been performing an experiment on the team here
at Coast for nearly a month.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
What haven't they picked.
Speaker 5 (00:24):
Up one up?
Speaker 3 (00:45):
We said for a record medal Halliday unbelievable, the greatest
our New Zealand history in terms of gold medals per day.
So it started out with day Lisa Carrington was she
won goal, She's.
Speaker 6 (00:56):
Got the race face on the Red Sunnies it is
gonna be gold for New Zealand's Lisa character.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
And then a little bit later on Lydia co strokes
gold because that was out of nowhere.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
I saw the odds on that she's paying forty four dollars.
What's she for the golf? The gold the golden golf Wow?
And they say, now she has the full seat because
you remember she got a bronze and a silver. Now
she's got the gold. I love that. And then Hamish
Kerr high jump decides now I'm not going to shar
the middle, listens to a jump off and wins it.
Can we talk about that?
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Because if I was at that stage I tell us
you share the gold, I'd be like fantastic.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
But then you brought up an interesting fact about the coin. Yes,
so apparently, because remember this year is the first year
athletics are paying for gold medals. So to win a
gold medal, you got eighty New zealand eighty Old Grand
So Hamish like, you know what I lie on the price.
You ain't share the money. We can share the gold.
That we ain't not sharing the money. We're jumping again,
half an hour the jump off to do it, and
(01:53):
anyway he wins the gold. He wins the eighty three
thousand dollars just days before twenty eighth birthday, by the way,
So to celebrate, he runs out on the field as
good as all down streets, going.
Speaker 6 (02:00):
Yeah, eighty three thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
The commentators like, well, I'm opening the javelin has finished.
See well I was. There's three golds in the space
of a few hours. Year, as you said, Sam, the
most GOLs won on a single day. Then late last
night it happened again for Ales Andrews around the big
gunchy petal to a new chapter.
Speaker 7 (02:22):
And new See looks like I got his three she
can and Lates Andrews, it's a total golf endless.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
In Paris that you turned into a legiand I know.
And then only a couple of hours ago, Alie Wallaston
won our final medal. She got the bronze and the
omnium was another cycles print as well. So it was that.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Twenty twenty meddles. Yeah, how many goals ten golds, that's amazing.
Middle ratio was fantastic. Yeah, yeah, so ten.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Gold, seven silver, three bronze and the closing ceremony happening
just under an hour from now to see in this
morning talking me across all that but water morning, Hey,
who won? Who won overall? It was China? China got
it overall. I think they did ninety. I understand how
that's old. We'll get back to your that someone's here
to spinning this morning because they are forty four million
dollars richer. That's the point. I don't think the head
(03:11):
is spinning because I don't know what it has been claimed.
It has hasn't been claimed.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
So I love the psychology of this because I think
what you've got here is a very flippant motto player.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
You've got someone that occasionally just goes, oh, look it's
up there. But I'll just go do it online and
let'll do see what happens.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
And they don't know it at the stage and it's
Monday morning, and at some point they're going to go,
oh God, I probably should go check that ticket and
if the whole heat is going to explode in front
of their face.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah, see, I don't do the whole online thing. I
literally go into the shop. I'll line up with everyone
else and I'll get that ticket and I'll put them
on a wallet, that yellow bit of paper pilles I
am now holding that ticket. Do you not trust that
digital aspect? Maybe, but I like to physically have it
on me, you know. The romance of it, Yeah, the
old romance. Maybe a mold school because most of the
tickets that won over the weekend, and by the way,
(03:58):
several people won sixty six thousand dollars each, but fifteen
people Division one jays these Division one.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
If my little app or if I walked in the
swer and see Division one and it said sixty six
thousand dollars, like I'd be delighted it's sixty six thousand.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
But Division one, come on, you were four from there
forty other people down share said only one person got
the forty four million, and again that one was brought online.
And for Division one, fifteen people are sharing sixty six
grand each, and most of those tickets we're also bought online.
Yeah right.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
It actually bows me away that you like the romance
of walking into a store, but you don't pick your
own numbers.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
You let the machine do it. You know, always go
lucky to see that's weird.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
I thought you'd have some kind of superstition around numbers,
because I do.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
I mean, fourteen is my favorite, like four forty four.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
But I broke my jaw once when I was wearing
the number eight, sing that John Lock rand me over
and broke my jaw. I'll never get his name. You
never get all the fact that I was. We're in
the eight yearersy so I wouldn't put that in a
lot of So it's not you're lucky on those, they're right.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
What about you?
Speaker 8 (04:56):
Are you?
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Are you old school? Do you go in? Do you
choose a lot of tickets or do you let the
machine do it? Wou just do it online? How do
you lott? I would love to hear it. I wait
one hundred double oh forecast flick it takes to two
six nine to nine. Forty four million dollars has been
struck a lot over the weekend. The biggest single prize
in lotos history is twice that's happened. Now it's going
to be life changing. It really what I mean? And
now it's four million. And on Wednesday night that even
(05:16):
that four million is life changing is itself? And fifteen
people won sixty six green Now most of those tickets
were bought online. And I don't do that. I like
the romance of going and actually having this the physical
yellow ticket in my hand, lining up behind people. If
I need to, I don't mind to hear a little
chat with the people on the line. See I'm avoiding
the line. Yeah, I get it. You really like that process?
I do, and I will you waste And people who
(05:39):
said that same jock, you're wasting your time. Right, I've
got the winning one right here as they walk past you.
I quite like it. This is it? Somebody else sees
it to it at that I say, you're wasting your
time up there on the tics. On TUESDAXS nine to nine,
I get one line, one lucky dip and one of
my save favorite numbers. Only when it gets big, though,
And that's the thing. On what point? Because you're not
(05:59):
a weekly player even neitherm No, I wait till it's
over thirty million dollars? Is that that your cut up?
Speaker 4 (06:04):
I like, one thing in the psychology involved in this
is amazing, Like this person is literally going what I
want to do is pick my own numbers, but I
don't trust my own numbers. I'm also going to back
the machine to pick them for me, you know what
I mean? The bits there, and I think there's a
lot of that superstitition involved, and I.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Feel like me, He's like, I didn't want the forty
four million. Still check your ticket anyway, because in fifteen
people have won sixty six grand and thirty six people
have won just under seventeen grand, but two people have
won two hundred and fifty thousand dollars each year. Do
you splash out? Do you if it's a big draw,
or are you just like every week I'm going to
go for the same amount of spent. How do you
do this? Whenever I do it, I always get the
same one and it's the twenty dollars triple. Yeah, OK,
(06:40):
whatever it is, So it's not every week though.
Speaker 9 (06:43):
Year.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
That's role what I feel, and I feel like it
might be. Might be if I see a sign like
the car I want drive past it and it's a Wednesday,
maybe it's a lot of day. Maybe today's the day.
If you haven't done it yet, check your ticket. If
you love the nightlife, if you like the dark sky,
you might like this stuff. This is astronauts to have
taken off. It's a NASA sort of thing that they've
(07:05):
taken off to go and visit the International Space Station.
Only supposed to be up there for eight days, but
now something's gone wrong and they're stuck in space until
next year. Yeah, it's having to do with the Boeing.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
Interestingly enough, propulsion system is leaking nitrogen and it's not
safe to return home.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
That's the ends in there.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
If you've got a leaky propulsion system, I'm not chancing
being lost in space. No, you know, I'm just going
to park up in the space station. And you know,
a lot of people feel sorry for them. Oh, you
parked up in the space It sounds better than my house.
Speaker 10 (07:36):
Really.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
How how long in to end do you think the
space station is? I don't know, but they're not so
they're not the little capsule anymore. No, they're in the
space station out of the doors.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
There, you're right, food and everything. I was worried about
the food. We're going to get to the food in
just a second. It sounds wonderful. How long is it
a couple hundred meters long? Yeah, well, not a couple
hundred meters. There's one hundred and nine meters, which surprised me.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Doesn't appear there to the length of your section. That's huge.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
It's quite a big space session. I mean the narrow
corridors and all the rest of it. And it's probably
longer than it is girthier, if you know what I mean.
Speaker 11 (08:07):
Sure.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
The food, though, there's pretty much everything you need to
eat there. Barbecue beef brisket. It's dehydrated barbecued beef brisket.
There's eggs, vegetables, bread, savory snacks, sweet treats in the
station's kitchen.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
It's all made out of a place.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
And where is it Texas? So they've got a whole
place that's designed to make the food Texas barbecue beef.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
That's good. So they're okay. So they're up there and
they've got everything that need, all supplies here. Now how
are they going to get home though? Well, that's the thing.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
They have to wait until next year, until the next
mission from SpaceX. The private entity. This guy, I guess
Boeing is a private entity too, isn't it. It's not
exactly NASA, but they've.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
Gone up there. It's a leaking so I don't Another
one is who do you trust? You trust Boeing who
has a little bit of a shaky record at the moment?
Or Elon Musk, whatever it takes to get off there.
Our Regon well is the space No fun Intended, Feel.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Good breakfast catch up podcast with Coasts Tony Street, Jason
Reeves and Sam Wallace.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
I have been performing an experiment on you since I
returned from Europe. So can you remember Can you think
of any famous experiments that have been performed on media teams?
What about the Carl Stephanovit Jobby? Can you guys remember
that one?
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Anyway? Producer Rosies joined us, not a clue he wore
the same suit every single day for a year.
Speaker 12 (09:25):
Well that's what I thought you were doing last week,
because you wore the same top and a different color.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
The only shopping I could do was on the cruise
boat because the kids are always in bed, so I
just meant to one job and bought five shirts.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
So it was not the experiment that I was doing.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
Now, you might remember that I did a talked on
the radio about a man that was the most nice
smelling man I've ever smelt, and he suggested a perfume
for me to wear, and I went and bought that
perfume while I was overseas, and I have been wearing
it every day since I.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Got back, and everyone was saying ote it to him.
He was so highly recommitted. Everyone came up to him
and said, that is the most gorgeous perfume. What do
you wear?
Speaker 4 (10:06):
And he said there was two parts. It was the perfume,
but also how he applied it. And what he did
is he put vasseline on his wrists and on his
neck and then sprayed the vasseline. Said the vasseline held
the smell, and the smell continued throughout the day.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
That's you know, apparently if you rub it, especially on
your rest. You can bruise the smell. A you can
bruise every morning, bruise some robbit together, you're bruising smell now,
not to give away a secrets.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
His name is Travis mcdona and he is a he's
part of the sales team and Andrew Simms. So he
told me the perfume and it's John Paul Gautier Gold
and Man, I tell you what, whenever I bump into
my like you are the most delicious smelling man, I
always say it to him because he always smells a
nice So I've.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Been wearing for three weeks, not a single comment, not
a single comic, So I don't know what that is.
Speaker 12 (10:53):
Have you been applying with the vastline and.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
I've been.
Speaker 13 (10:58):
Trying.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
I've been fishing for compliments, not three weeks. The funny
thing is the other day you and I were filming
something and you leaned over me to put the microphone
on my shoes say anything, And I thought I should
have seen it because I thought you smell nice that day.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
And it's not that it wasn't enough to trigger a
response anyone weeks Because.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
I don't want to make you feel bad because I
think that because we often give you a stick spraying
there for the other smells.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
But don't you think it's quite interesting? But take it
away from myself and put it into science. Does that
mean that either I'm not a nice smelling human or
different fragrances work better on different people.
Speaker 12 (11:33):
So maybe as well.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
Yeah, so even though I've landed on what is the
most complimented perfume, it's not right for me, and I
must try harder.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Well, no, I think you're doing it.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
You're trying hard, mate, You're doing the right thing.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Go with the smelling nice. That is so far, so good.
I'm going to try it.
Speaker 12 (11:51):
We haven't been smelling bad.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
So that that's the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games.
You've got Dame Lisa Carrington have greatest Olympian ever carrying
a flag alongside Finn Butcher. You might have being a
Finn Butcher. Finn Butcher, Huspin Butcher this jocky memory.
Speaker 11 (12:08):
Finn Butcher is an Olympic shappi.
Speaker 8 (12:15):
Whose name into New Sheealand sport history.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
The Butcher delivers the good such a great story.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
Literally, the Butcher has just been elevated from a guy
that goes around on kayaks occasionally to carrying the Olympic
flag with Lisa Cary.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
He's such a lad to let's ending right down in Paris.
Speaker 11 (12:40):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
What if we see you not Paris but to Fiji. Now,
this is the place where the pristine beaches, the crystal
clear waters, you to hang out their fine happiness with
the people that the biggest smiles. Right, the Fijian people
are the love these people on earth. I reckon and
this is your casting call because what I need is
stars for a tourism video. I will be your camera
and ed.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
And what we're there to do is showcase the absolute
best that Fiji has to offer. And when you're doing
it with the Tourism Fiji, you get the five star treatment, Jase.
That means you're going to the best place, is the
best restaurant.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
You're in the best food, You're seeing the best sites
of Fiji. Let me give you a little rundown home.
We'll go tell them God, who's coming with me?
Speaker 4 (13:17):
So I think the things that are sticking out most
to me is the Saber Sailing day trip, where you
get to experience sailing to a sand key and snorking
on a reef, So just be in the middle of nowhere.
There'll be a little sand key, just a little island
popping up out. I know we're probably no trees, but
probably the best snorking you'll ever see will sail out there.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
It will be the drone up around us, the go
throw in.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Your face, the FX three capturing the best shots to
showcase what Fiji has the rest of the world. You'll
also have a SPA treatment at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf
Resort and Spa, so you know you're going to get
the whole treatment there, a massage.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
You know. I don't actually know a.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Lot about what goes on in a treatment, but I'll
tell you what's going to be luck you're well, here's
the thing if you think about entering this contest, which
tell you how to do it in just a tick.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
I've been lucky enough to go to Fiji with sand
and we went to the Gold Club and we watched
the All Blacks that night and the pizzas come out
and they are massive. We had such a good life,
so I can vauch for this. But when you go
to Fiji, Sam knows that place like the back of
a or the bottom of a decree glass. And he
knows how to have a.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Good time in Foma, where sooner things start to turn
a little bit south.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
We're not having a great time. We'll just play you
with more cocktails. But this is one I actually have done.
The Fish Restaurant at Marriott Fiji is on Mommi Bay.
Speaker 8 (14:24):
Now.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
Mommi Bay is about an hour north of Nandy and
it is burets over the water as.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
The most beautiful little bay you've ever seen in your life.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
And Fish Restaurant sits out with the most magnificent views.
So once again I can see the sun setting beautiful
Fiji night, warm air.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
You can imagine the shots, the drone cheese wherever you walk. Yes,
I cannot wait. So this is a perfect holiday thistlation.
You think about Fiji's only four hours from Kristu to
Wellington or three hours from Auckland. Get in the draw
now to win this amazing trip with your own happiness coach.
Everything you need to know about it and how to
enter is on our website now Coast online dot co dot. Indeed,
the Zeeland Rugey team took a battering on Saturday night
(15:02):
in Wellington. We have not well in Wellington for like
six years now. Favorite curse, isn't it. Yes, that's what
happened to the end of the game. In case you
missed anything, that will be the last days of the game.
And that's all around.
Speaker 6 (15:19):
What a Triumphilip tom tom TONI a great player himself,
number twenty eighty seven ties fatches.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
We're gonna meet up that this might just trunk everything. Yeah,
really did And that was it. First puns a round
and then afterwards the Argentinian team were dancing in front
of us of a handful of people at Wellington Stadium
and there was dancing with these people and waving the
face and I thought, now that's passion. That is so good. Yeah,
delight for my young boy.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
Though, he kept on getting confused on the uniforms and
he ended up going for Argentina, the blue team.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
He's only five though, look disappointing. It started out and
I was like, oh, this is cute. Look a look
at Argentina.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
It's good that they're getting a few tries because it
will make for a great finish. And then and then
they kind of just swelled dinner and then I was like, oh,
this is kind of problematic.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Oh yeah, As a massive All Blacks fan for a
long long time, as long as I can remember, I
was really surprised because not only Argentina are a good team,
but last time we played them we smashed them by
like thirty eight points, and then this time around they
come here and you're right saying they kept in touching
distance and I was sitting with my wife going well,
and she made a really good point. Louis again not
a massive rugby watcher herself, but every time there was
(16:26):
a break, all the Argentinean teams members came in and
started talking to each other. The All Blacks didn't talk
to each other, and she was, what'sppening with our team?
They don't even connect them. Oh, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
I think we I think this is this is Amy
Fisher two point zero. You know, it was racing for
New Zealand and against Dame Lisa, and I think that
you know, she probably you know, we're seeing her beat
Lisa Carington on a number of different occasions, but when
it came to going for gold, it wasn't her day.
It just the race didn't go her way and she
ended up in fourth. And I think that's just what
(16:55):
happened to the All Blacks. I think they're a better team.
I just think that Argentina had the minors touch on
the day and snuck through. I reckon there's I think
it's to take nothing away from Dame Lisa Carrington's gold either.
She is a big occasions player and that's what makes
winners winners, and the Orbacks need to do that.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
But I still think the All Backs were better. I
just think it wasn't their night. I don't know. I'm
really worried now because this weekend we played Eden Park, right,
and even if you don't follow rugby very much, this
is what's happened to Eaton Park. We've now gone forty
nine games undefeated at Eton Park. Can we make it
to fifty this weekend? I love your passion. I otim
they are the better team. Just everything. When Argentine is
(17:33):
wayh on the night, I think I think they be
a response, and I would like to hope it's a
fiery response. I hope, And you know what, which hucker
do you reckon? They'll do it Eden Park a couple
of part because they didn't.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
They did committee, So you know it comes down to
the Hardku came down to the Harker.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
That's what it is. Think about this one thousand, four
hundred dollars in the Chasers, right, so you can get
flights through Aratona and five nights at each water resortants
bar with breakfast every day you were there. That comes
to one four hundred and twenty nine dollars. So basically,
if you win today, you've just been twenty nine dollars
and get that week and Rara a Tonga. Oh man,
it is. It is game on.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
So it's always never recommend It's up to fourteen hundred dollars,
and it comes down to potentially papers as a rock
who's playing because of our absenteeism we've got we've got
a tendance rate here at Coast which is similar to
our high school students.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
We don't weep better. Anyway, I'm win the into a
couple of minutes from now. Like I said, Tony's away today,
but she's done a new episode of We Need to
Talk Her wonderful podcast at the moment, she's caught it
with Lorna Jane. You know Laura Jane. Active were so
you asked her how did that him come about?
Speaker 13 (18:35):
Oh my god?
Speaker 1 (18:35):
It just seems like yesterday that I was cutting patterns
on my dining room table and trying to convince people
that active it was going to be a thing. But
then when you look back at everything you've done and
all the challenges and all the achievements, I feel like
I've lived a million lifetimes.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
You need to hear this. It's such a fascinating tep again.
You see the name Laurna Jane on a lot of
your sweet weir and all that sind of stuff. Right,
But if he takes podcast to two six nine nine,
we'll take you about the details and how you can
listen to we need to talk for chases on Coast.
Speaker 8 (19:04):
Four.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
Here we go, Here we go, buddy, you're gonna bounce
it off the desk. Okay, rolling the dice. We gets
to play today. We don't need to paper, says as Rock.
Oh no, it's me, isn't it. Actually it is? So
you're rubbing it Sam for one one thousand, four hundred
dollars cash. So you need to call us right now.
If you've ever played the game, it goes like this.
I wait hundred zero zero four two sixty two, which
(19:27):
is eight hundred double ow four Coast. If you're a
teenth caller, we're gonna ask you five questions. Our producer
Rosie has written the questions. We haven't seen the questions.
Sam won't even hear the questions until after you've had
to go? Will I Lisa Carrington or will I Amy Fisher?
Don't do this soon?
Speaker 5 (19:43):
Too soon?
Speaker 3 (19:44):
I wait hundred double ow four Coast doesn't matter what
you get out of five because of Sam can't met you.
You in their cash.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Thanks for listening to the Feel Good Breakfast catch Up
podcast with Coast, Tony Street, Jace Reeves and Sam.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Go on Coast. Let's keeping here from regular. I hope
you've got your game on same because it is on.
Speaker 13 (20:09):
But if I'm you know, I'll probably take my mom
up for that.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
So nice tany love the fighting talk and I love that.
Yeah you're becking in your mum as well.
Speaker 3 (20:19):

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Yes, yeah, there are eight ounces in a cup? Okay, yeah, tough?
Quiz the wayep Andie, thank you very much for playing though,
enjoy the game of Evelan Park if you're going to
hit up that game on Saturday. Another game of this
is tomorrow though, And it's now one thousand and five
hundred dollars on the line. Today's the twelfth of August, right,
it's exactly twelve days ago today the London Olympics were
(23:05):
being closed. So the cootin was coming down in London
twelve years ago this minute. And it was the time
when Spy Skills got back together. Remember that little the
London Texas came out, did a big dance routine. The
Spy Skills reunited for them. Today though the big closing
ceremony is on. We look back at the Olympics, our
greatest Olympic Games so far, twenty medals.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
Yeah, and I just want to preface this before we
get into the moments that touched us. It's just a
little bit sad that this whole thing is coming to
an end. It's been such a joyous thing to have
in our lives, don't you think true the.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Months Yeah, so what stands out for you that what's
of moments? So for me, remember when Finn Butcher so
he wins the Kai exprint, right and everyone's like Finn
Butcher and pretty much. But then he finally catches up
with his dad and he puts his gold miller around
his dad's neck and gives his deg a massive hug
with the flag around him. And now Finn Butcher is
now our flag bearer at the closing ceremony. So for me,
(23:54):
Finn catching up with his dad, I love that moment
as a gorgeous moment.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
I think Hayden Wilde's moment and the try was was
such a poignant moment because it was he left it
all on the table, didn't he Yeah, he made a
break to try and break his competitor, and he made
that break and then his competitor chased him down and
there was just literally nothing left in the tank and
it took a world record time for him to not
(24:19):
win that gold medal.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
So despite not winning the gold, what a race, what
a moment? How exciting was that watch? But also the
sports of ship passes. He plopped himself next to the
god that beat him and give a big you got
that well done. There's so many moments like for me. Also,
the guy from Turkey who showed up with no ems,
no no goggles were assassin. Yeah, the assassin had in
his pocket. We ran a T shirt and just fired
some shots at the target and ended up winning a
(24:41):
silver medal. Amazing, And he took the sport up because
he had a fight with his ex wife. And during
the interview afterwards, he goes, yeah, if you're watching this,
I want my dog back.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
That's what he said, using the station to get his
talk about And I don't think we can go past
after the weekend.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
Reagan the Australian breakdancer. Now for me, this is I mean,
she's got a pahd.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
She did her thesis in breakdancing, and that's where the
whole situation has gone wrong. There's some things you shouldn't
study at university and breakdancing is one of them. Because
you can see she tried to get intellectual with her dancing,
didn't she. She tried to show the history of the
country of Australia. And she's kanger and over the stage
and everything she had overthoughts dancing routine.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
If you haven't seen everyone's sort of us, If you
haven't seen ray Gun, google Raygun breakdancing, it'll be the
greatest thing. And don't watch here, just watch Everyone's faces
in the crowd, no points on tempora. Hey, I'm maybe
not going what the hell is going on?
Speaker 14 (25:38):
So on for you?
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Is the moment that stood out for the Olympics. I've
been loving watching this. I've been staying up way till
that giving up way too early for this. Oh eight
hundred double O four coast our phone number or flickers.
It takes to two six, nine to nine. And when
we look back on our greatest Olympic asievements ever, ten
gold medals, silver gold medals and three bronze for a
total of twenty medals, our greatest Olympics triumph. Let's celebrate
(25:59):
them moments of the last couple of weeks with this gold.
Speaker 10 (26:03):
It's stuff there and picking it up to touch and
New Zealands go black to black, go men again.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
The Supreme seven side wins goals.
Speaker 11 (26:13):
It is heartbreaking, tide and wild, but Alex Ye has
lifted to about three hundred meters to win gold in
the men's triathlon, an Olympic record time.
Speaker 6 (26:25):
We're underway in the women's fort coming down to the line.
It's benevolents Great Britain and New Zealand. Bronx middle Joe
Vickens for the New Zealand women's double skulls down to
the line.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
That's gold, gold for New Zealand.
Speaker 6 (26:44):
They're almost about about now. The USA coming down to
the line in first position, gold goes to us. So
far New Zealand.
Speaker 10 (26:54):
It's Isaac McCarty and Will McKenzie crossing for third Inness race.
But that means the New Zealands on the coast of Marside.
Speaker 6 (27:03):
We're underway in the women's single skulls final. Caroline Floray,
not the Midlands, gets the gold medal. New Zealand's in
a twig gets silver.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
Memes Kayak cross final.
Speaker 8 (27:15):
They plunge in and the gold middle is his.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
Finn Butcher is an ellpic shaperiod you Knowaiian.
Speaker 7 (27:25):
The women's team sprints at the Paris of Belodrome, Great Britain.
The gold villain New Zealand just slightly behind the Los Andrews,
but they take the silver medal.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Women's team pursuit.
Speaker 10 (27:36):
There's the bowel.
Speaker 7 (27:38):
The Americans coming down to the line in the United
States take the win. New Zealand hold back to Wolfseee
and it was only point six of a second in
the end, but it's siller for New Zealand nonetheless, and.
Speaker 10 (27:48):
There it is Michael Wilkinson Erica Dawson cross the line.
A bronze for Wilkinson and Dawson.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Ready to race.
Speaker 6 (27:56):
In the women's kayak four.
Speaker 10 (27:58):
I can see the fixt line.
Speaker 6 (28:00):
It is gold for New Zealand and the sixth Golden
moments for Dame Lisa, New Zealand's most to decorate an Olympian.
Lisa Carrington strikes gold again.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
The women's Karen final.
Speaker 7 (28:14):
Alise Andrews hold as she comes down towards the finishing line.
Elise Andrews on the line that looks like she's won gold.
Alisa Andrews intense, incisive, invincible.
Speaker 6 (28:25):
And we're ready to fly in the women's kayak double
five hundred. What an incredible achievement. They are six meters
ahead Carrington and Hoskin.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
A vot link for the half.
Speaker 9 (28:37):
Leet New Zealand gold many Wishy wins silver in the
women's shot put and she is New Zealand's new shotput queen.
On the podium shot Maddy silver for you Carrington.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
Coming down to the line, it is gonna be gold.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
A golden glue.
Speaker 8 (28:58):
Melidia Cone and at top of the podium in Paris.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
Che Ways can Fly and Haimusk this high chup Olympic
champion and Lee Charews.
Speaker 9 (29:10):
It's a tuggle gold endlist in Paris.
Speaker 7 (29:12):
She completes her own after treeo.
Speaker 6 (29:15):
Ellie Wattleston is elated.
Speaker 7 (29:17):
She's picked up the from Ellie Watleston has for in
a superbly tactical.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
Race with basket in the glow of a greatst Olympics
campaign of all time. So twenty middle seven of them silver,
three of them bronze and ten of them gold. I
mean you give them use ten gold medals. Five of
those came from two athletes. Yeah, it's a really good point.
But ten is a wonderful haul regardless of who got them. Oh,
I agree, it's massive, It's wonderful. So ask you for
(29:42):
what for you? It's the great Issylmpic moment the last
couple of weeks and there have been some outs in
a lot of people mentioning Reygum the break duns. We
have got a lot of joy from that, and the
people are saying, don't pile on her.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
But there's an academic that's decided to study break dancing
them for me that deserves a pile.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Lydia Coe the one of the greatest moments. She now
has one of every single middle co parts through and
it's down a golden gloe for Lydia Comb.
Speaker 8 (30:16):
Runner up in Rio two, back in Tokyo and the
top of the podium in Parish.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
And now a lot of it is like, okay, now
she's done that. Is she now going to retire? No,
no way, I hope not would she She's because she's
made noises she wants to retire by the time she's
thirty s reckons. Oh is that right? Yeah, yeah, yes,
that makes sense.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
If you've kind of feel like you've conqueredent, you've got
enough money in the bank, and I suspect she's got
a bit of coin joined you her career runing so.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Far, Please tell me, what do you think twenty million
she was so far?
Speaker 4 (30:47):
It's all beautifully investing, yeah, jistic. Interestingly enough, you know,
United States have taken it out, but China has the
same amount of gold medals. So the United States is
China's are forty and they have in the United States
has a total of one hundred and twenty six and
(31:08):
China has a total of ninety one.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
So Okay, yeah, really tired. At the top of the title, Helen,
what for you stands out as your greatest Olympic moment
in the last couple.
Speaker 13 (31:16):
Of weeks, you reacon just the humbleness of every New
Zealander that we have seen afterwards and interviews. You know,
whether they've won gold, silver, bronze, or made a final
or whatever they've got. In my opinion, the humbleness of no,
it's not all about them. It's like they've you know,
they've acknowledged everybody in their life that's got them to
(31:37):
where they are today. I just think people compared to
other potential people that I've seen, and I've watched a
lot of the Olympics, like, humbleness is just wow, just wow.
And I'm so proud of each and every.
Speaker 14 (31:51):
One of them.
Speaker 13 (31:52):
You know, they dedicate their lives to this absolutely and
they don't get paid if at all. I don't think
of a lot of them, and they've dedicated their lives
to represent their country and we need to thank them
to You're.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
So right, Ellen, I mean, one of the wonderful things
that Lisa Carrington said afterwards, now she is now even
going into these Olympics, she was our most decorated Olympian
five gold medals. Now she has eight and yesterday she
said up. She says, I'm still Lisa from a Harpy.
I'm the little girl who just loves paddling. I thought, yeah,
that's so right what you said. It comes down to
the humble and say thanks, thats gorgeous.
Speaker 10 (32:19):
You know.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
One of the moments that really captured me.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
So it's a more low key moment, but it was
a it was apparenting moment and it was a girl,
a nineteen year old Andrea spindlini Syrix. She's a great
Britain diiver. She won a bronze in the team event,
but in the individual event she failed. She didn't achieve
what she wanted to achieve. But listen to this conversation
between her.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
And her dad. It's sports, some easy win on said,
he be brilliant.
Speaker 12 (32:48):
It doesn't take away from the year.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
Yes, you know they said to me.
Speaker 14 (32:53):
He said to me, looks all countries proud of her.
My daughter now wants to try that thing because of her.
She's a super eight year old. All the texts coming
in you did your best from her.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
Yeah's beautiful, gorgeous and you know if you watch that
clip back. The thing that actually captures me more than
the audio is the way that Andrea looks into her
dad's eyes with faith and truss.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
It's just such a gorgeous moment. He must be a
fantastic father. We're looking at the closing ceremony at the moment,
and a whole bunch of white ninjas a running around
lifting up the rings and at the what's the best
I can do? Sorry, we're a little confused. Talk us
through the Yeah, that's it looks like a gold statue
on fire. I don't think rolls Roy symbols things think
of anyway. We haven't seen the Tom Cruise part yet,
(33:43):
but if I know anything about the closing ceremonies, it's
going to take till Tuesday, so you just never know.
