Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, all right, all right, Yes, indeed, you are
the author of your story, of your journal. In this journal,
you will get to know yourself better. And who better
to get to know.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Dear general topic we discussed this week gave me a
bit of a wake up call. Silver separation. People getting
divorced later in life, and in ninety percent of cases
it's the woman's decision, and men don't see it coming.
What causes it? Grumpy old men syndrome? Apparently all men
when they age all they want is a King Fisher, beer,
a couch and some cunge power points. And women want more.
(00:37):
They have been bound to the kids and they want
to get some of their life back. And I get
that the sacrifice mums make is immense. Now I am generalizing,
and I don't think it's a grumpy old man. I
don't think I am a grumpy old man. I'm relatively optimistic.
But on some days, after an early radio start, it's
fair to say that work gets the best of me.
I don't want to come home one day and be
told my wife is leaving me for some handsome Jamaican
(00:59):
that would be devastat and who would do the washing?
Speaker 3 (01:01):
And she told you about him, the guy from Oh No, I.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Actually endeavor to do better. Stop being a curmudgeon trying
for our weeks with more socializing. The socializing, I get
that Sarah often doesn't and do the things together without
the kids. And we did that yesterday. We had a
day date. We went to the gym together. And that
might not sound romantic, but split squats and barbell presses
as my love language and it's certainly better than doing
(01:28):
it alone.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Oh that's nice.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
We did see your criminal activity at the gym. Why
did she need to take care?
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Should have a photo shoot after the session.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
We talked about that this week.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Hi, general, It's true what they say, one small moment
can change your entire day, maybe even weak. And it's
happened to me this week. A simple email asking a
favor made me beam with a smile, wider than Tony
Street on the shopping spree, wider than Sam Wallace in
an empty gym with a shirt off, or Winston Peters
after an election. It seems my special steate of skills
have been whispered about in allways of power, and now
(02:01):
I've been called upon to use those skills to make
a world a better place. And by world I mean
our kids school. Some parents get asked to help coach
sports teams, or take charge of a group on day trips,
or help paint the playground or pull but I've been
shoulder tapped to transform the humble sausage into a smoky,
sizzling treasure. Some might say I'm simply manning the barbecue
at today's school sausage sizzle, But no, they'd be underestimating
(02:22):
my art, thank you very much. It's more than just
trying not to burn the bangers or frying the franks,
or warming the wieners or sizzling the snags. I'll be
creating a symphony of sounds and smells, the savor, conducting
a grill top orchestra for a ballet of barbecue brilliance.
But if I accidentally fail, we all know every cooking
calamity can be saved with several squirts of tomato sauce maze.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
No one better and warmer, wiener than you.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
I I hate to come down with you for this,
but do you think that's why they chose you to
do with the barbie because they'd heard about your meat?
Speaker 3 (02:50):
I've been you know, I've been trying to myself with
the low and slow and the grilling techniques, and that well,
we can't put them on the other store, chuck them
on the heart.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Ja's good luck with that. And if anyone gets a
half cook sausage complains two two six ninety nine, Dear Journal,
Shared excitement is a wonderful thing, isn't it. This week
we announced we're going to the Big Apple and Beyond,
a destination that I've never been to. So the prospect
of taking you our wonderful Coast listeners is double the
thrill for me. There's nothing like experiencing something for the
(03:26):
first time together with fresh eyes. The joy we have
had over the past three years watching first Julie, then
Sofia and last year Kate spending their ten thousand dollars,
but more than that, having the time of their lives
has been the most wonderful experience for us. We've been
alongside these guys through the whole process, the tears of joy,
the heartwarming moments, the outrageously funny and inappropriate moments you
(03:49):
will no doubt experience when you travel with Sam. To
go on this New York trip is an absolute privilege
for us, But to watch someone else have this moment
will be the greatest buzz Award.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Alright.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
