Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Coast Breakfast Bonus Podcast with Tony Jason Sam.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hi, thanks for listening to the Breakfast Bonus Podcast. Today,
we're talking about exciting sports to watch and really boring
ones to watch. I'll be honest, because now the All
Black season is over, I thought about turning off Sky
Sport and thinking, well, I'm not only watching there Agby anymore.
The last game of the All Blacks that was pretty
boring to watch itself.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
You can't you can't get rid of Sky because then
you'll miss the cricket. And that's exactly Sam se Cricket
all Summer so great.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
No, you cannot say Sky doesn't have a good product.
They've got so much sport on. I filled my boots
with the Formula one over the weekend. It was extensive coverage.
I watched hours of the practices, I watched hours of
the qualification, and then I watched the race. Tried to
because we're going to bed, and then I sat down.
I was like, here we go. It was ALP forty
nine fifty, but awesome.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Stunk for me. Summer is going to the beach and
having the cricket on in the background and then you
can just tap and whenever you feel like it.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
And this is Sam reminded me of the cricket songs
that you're so right. The most exciting sport I think
to watch is T twenty cricket when it comes down
to the last couple of balls and then runs off
those balls.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Are we talking viewing on the telly or in person?
Because I think it's very different, you know what I mean? True?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Okay, So let's so for me watching it on TV,
it's twee and I like going to the games as well,
but to watch it on TV, it's just it's one
of the most thrilling sports. To be at the games,
I think maybe one of the greatest. Actually, horse race
is pretty hard case when you go there.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
I can't do it. Every time I go to the races,
I just I neglect to appreciate this, even horses there.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
You're just there for the fashion, the drink, fashion, lives board,
then livebort event.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
I love going to a T twent t and one
day to be fair, I love going to the basketball
Basketball's epics.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
Live basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
They do it so well.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Is she the Breakers?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah? They get the crowded direction going on, there's entertainment.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
They do it really well, No, this takes the cake.
Tenis Tennis live is amazing? Have you not saught You're
not said card side at the.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
You have said because I was singing in you. It's
when you were boss.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
I invited you in one year.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
It's always nice to be invited into the box, isn't it? Chase?
So what do you think is the sports that aren't
cutting it for you? Can I kry one out there?
Baseball now?

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yea?

Speaker 4 (02:12):
The thing is, though, I have heard that baseball is one.
If you know the intricacies, there is nothing better.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
It's not clued up enough.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
And I think that's with all sports. All sports, you're
limited by your knowledge. The more you know, the more
you need to know. Yeah, social right, golf's not exciting.
I agree, you know about it.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
I agree, I've got von Telly's good. Can I just say,
but golf watching in real life you have to walk
too far? Yea?

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Follow that?

Speaker 3 (02:36):
You know?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
You're right? Yeah, but I heard that about baseball too.
But apparently when you actually go to a live match
in America where they actually have the songs, because you've
done that, haven't you?

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Absolutely, And sixty million people that's followed the sport every year.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Can't be wrong, that's right, because of the actual in
game experience is amazing right at the stadium, that the
food going on, that the sound going on.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
It's just I think the best example of intricacy sport
is Formula One. Like if you walk up to Formula
one and you watch, you're like, what you're watching cars
going around in a circle. And it's the same with Nascar,
it's the same with Indy. But you start to you know,
And that's what the Netflix documentary Drive to Survive has done.
It's we started learning about the management and the and
how people get pulled into the team and what rama. Yeah,

(03:14):
and then the intricacies of the car in terms of
how we're refining the arrow to get more downforced. But
this on this track, there's too much downforce, so we're
lightning that so we've got more top end. And the
more you know and the decisions you make, that's when
the sport becomes interesting.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
You know what I reckon. I'm just going to tell
you this that hockey and football fall into the same category.
For me, way better to watch it on the telly
because you get and I've watched them both in real life.
As well, but you get that bird's eye view of
the whole pitch, which you don't get when you're live,
so you don't get to see, you don't get to
appreciate I think the skill as much with are passing

(03:46):
into the gaps and they just see the timing of
a gap. But because you're higher watching it on the telly,
you get to appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
You're right with rugby match as well, that you go
and watch it at somewhere like even Park or something
like that, and it's an amazing atmosphere there and it's
wonderful and you see the huck alive and that's what
you he we has to do, you know. But then
when you go and you rewatch the game, you see
so many things you didn't see at the.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Game, and you get the commentary quite nice. What about
ping pong or table tennis that's on the telly?

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Incredible? Aren't they? Whenever I think that, I always think,
why don't they just make a bigger table?

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Swimming is great to watch, you think at the Olympics
watching some of those top swimmers go at it and
you're seeing it from the bird's eye view, and like
how they going to catch up on this last. If
you were there, you wouldn't see that.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
I think with the sprints like one hundred, watching them
on TV is amazing, I have to say.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
In real life watching the Olympics one hundred meters sprints
really good too.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Did that once?

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Bulk did tell you that?

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Watch on You know that.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I've told you that so many times and you're joking
right now. Watch to break the world records to this day,
the one and the two?

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Where were you? What country?

Speaker 3 (04:53):
China? You're no longer my friend?

Speaker 2 (05:00):
I love that story.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
I hate you right now. That's what you said before.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
A Formula one racing Sam and the car racing things
you get it. I'm starting to get their way with
like sail GP, you know, the boat racing. The more
and more boats a they're adding to that, and the
faster they are getting, and the more technology they're adding
to the foils and things, I'm learning a bit more
and I'm appreciating it more. And because it's so close
and the margins are so fine, if they hit each
other one the finds are huge. But to the damage
they can do to their boats.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
As massive, so the risk is high.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Yes, it's exciting to watch, but I.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
Think I think Sales GP is exposing the America's Cup.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Do you hell?

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Because it's note as good? Do you reckon? Yeah? I
love the America's Cup, don't get me wrong. I love
how you know they have to follow a design and
it's more about the technology, and I love all that
stuff history in the history. But the Sale GP with
all those so how many boats a they up to
on the twelve now? And how do they flit between
the markers?

Speaker 3 (05:49):
And more can go wrong?

Speaker 4 (05:50):
It's just so exciting.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
It is exciting.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Hey, we should start this podcast because I need to
tell Sam all about my trip to China.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
A few times.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
You should listen as a good story to China.
