talking about exercising and really why bother?

Well, this is depressing and I'd kind of heard something
along these lines before, where your body gets used to
a certain type of exercise, right, and that's why they
say keep your body getting But I hadn't.

Heard it sort of described like this before.

So it says, yeah, exercising to lose weight. Science says
it really works, and then you kind of dig deeper.
So it's a study by a guy called Herman Ponza,
and it's a study of metabolisms and a tribe of
modern hunter gatherers in Tanzania. So basically he assumed they'd
be incinerating calories because they walked all day, constant motion, jogging, tugging, lifting.

But when he and his colleagues compared what they did
in a typical day with their energy expenditure, and then
they did the same with people who were identical and
basically sat on the jaxies, it was not a whole
lot of difference really, So what essentially he's saying happens
is your body goes, Oh, I'm someone that walks all
the time and your body adapts to that so that

you don't burn as many calories when you do that, exersise.

Get more efficient at doing it. Depressing. So what does
that mean, because I mean.

There is that trainer the theory on trainers that trainers
can struggle to stay in shape because they train so
much their bodies get used to.

So do you think then maybe going back to what
we were told, keep mixing it up is the key.

Like the type of exercise, it tells us two things.

No, I think I think that's partially what it's saying.
But I think that if you're looking at where's the
tribe from Tanzania Tanzanier. So the interesting thing is here
is that even though they because their diet would be
pretty it would be basic. You know, there's no Western
food in that culture. So the fact that they have
become more efficient even with the food that they're eating
means that it doesn't even really matter what you do

in terms of your diet as well.

This is this is how they summarized it. If you
exercise today, you'll burn more energy today. But if you
really change your lifestyle and stay exercising regally and that
becomes your new normal, your body just adjusts and you
wind up not burning more calories overall. Basically, if you
spend more energy on exercise, your body finds ways to
spin less on others.

Do you know, I think I've experienced it because I
got I tried really hard to get really good shape recently,
and then we had a couple of trips awhile went
away to Europe and everything like that, and now I'm
trying to get back in shape at the moment, and
I am platauing like the second time round, I'm not
as good at the process.

It's your body not as shocked. This time around, your
body's not shocked.

It's used to it as your body going, oh, this
is what he does, This is what he did all
the time.

We know how to react to this. Yeah, well, just

Yeah, it's like, oh we can we can still afford
to keep a little bit of fat here and there.

You've taken five years off. Then when I go back,
you got to really shock it.

I'm saying there, I feel like you're shocking your body
when you do weights by tearing the muscle. Yeah, so
surely your body doesn't get used to tearing muscles or
does it.

Well, it's muscle different from our cardio. Yeah, our ability
is still fat.

Because that the Tanzanians aren't piling.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Heavy weight they're we doing. They're be climbing trees and stuff.

The science said, if you're doing it to lose weight,
that's when your bodies here.

Only using their body weight. They need to start packing
on some heavier weight.

Those Tanzanias with the weights changing to go to aurial
shock to their system when I ship out some hammer
strength equipment.
