Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, all right, all right, yes, indeed you are
the author of your story, of your journal. In this journal,
you will get to know yourself better. And who better
to get.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
To know, Dear Santa, I mean journal. Isn't it funny
how our desires change over time. It's a wonderful marker
for the stage of life you're in. When I was young,
I wanted to be a mix as I grew a
turbo car, then a stereo for my car with a subwefer.
I don't know why we wanted subers know, machuldren. I
needed a V eight in my life. And then the
(00:36):
family stage, a house to home my family, and then,
because of my extreme potency, a bigger home to house
my bigger family. Really in the ultimus status symbol, a
people mover with a European badge, which I couldn't afford,
so I got a carnival from Korea. So what next?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (00:54):
How I've matured? The things I desire now more than
anything are solar panels to lower my electricity bill and
an outdoor bar heater. And don't get me wrong, I'm
genuinely excited excited about those things. But that's the worrying thing.
Have I matured or have I grown old and become boring?
Because now I'm thinking, what on earth is my next
(01:15):
age stage? Because I don't know what comes after solar panels.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
You're boring all and.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
You definitely haven't matured.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
I don't think boring a mature When I think of
you said you're fine, Hi, June. I grew up in
a home when my family loved Christmas so much. Mum
would stencil and paint Reindeers and Holly and Santra on
the windows and spoil us with her Christmas baking. But
we never had the tree up in November. I've always
been a wait till December kind of guy. Even when
I became a dad, I thought, no, no, no, any earlier
than December the first is a crime. But just like
(01:45):
when I said no, I don't want a dog, and
then we got one, and now he might be s mate,
I cave to an early Christmas and for the first time,
the lights are up, the jump has been worn, and
the songs have been played all while it's still November,
and it's giving me so much joy. Remember seeing the
magic of Christmas through the eyes of a child, Remember
it feeling that's where I'm at right now. I mean,
where's the rule that says you have to wait to
do something that makes you feel good? And I know
(02:06):
what you're thinking, as a grown man in his forties,
what took me so long? I'm not the same to say.
I'm not a shame to say it. I'm affected by
premature decoration, Jayce.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I'm surprised this didn't infect you long before. Now you're
that kind of guy.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
I'm not coming to prevent.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
So slowly.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
It happens to some guys to worry about no judge,
to push.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
It right out.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Too late, Dear Journal, The age old saying no pain,
no gain rang true for me this week. Every year
we like to decorate our Christmas studio to get in
the holiday spirit, but it does take a lot of
time and effort, both of which we were feeling slowly
slightly low on this week. But along came Selwyn and
Matt from the Little Import Company, a day early and
full of vigor, and away we all went, pausing only
(02:54):
to interview the cast of Mowana too. Selwyn hanging precariously
from a ladder is we gushed over the key week,
asked then again to interview Brian Adams, and hours later
we limped out of here covered in glitter and tinsel
and a little worse for wear. But fast forward to
early this morning, and under the cover of darkness, a
weary radio host arrived to the twinkling of Christmas lights,
(03:15):
to a shimmering reindeer and a cheeky elf winking, and
it made me smile. And that is what it is
all about. The magic of Christmas is real. And if
it hasn't arrived at your place yet, the power is
in your hands. It just takes a little bit of effort.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Cheeky wealth elf, winky, don't call me an elf, she said, winking.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
