Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Coast Breakfast Bonus Podcast with Tony Jason Sam.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hi, thanks for listening to our Breakfast Bonus podcast. Ask
yourself this question, honestly, Caul, do you think you're still
in touch with a lot of things like do you
have your finger on the pulse? Do you know what's
in and what's out? I think even by saying what's
in and what's out proves that I'm out.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
What's on fleek? No, I know on fleeck's not cool
anymore because now the kids are saying it. I think
this is an interesting one because I think, I mean,
I've got the answer here, but I think this answer
largely depends in your world on the age of your children,
And I think no one knows what's cool than teenagers, right,
So if you've got teenage children and you are connected
enough to them, you will know what is cool and

(00:40):
what is hip and what people are doing. Yeah. I
feel like with an eleven year old, we're not quite
there yet. I know what white fox hoodies are cool,
but it's the teenagers dictating it, right, Think you're right,
But I think.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Also that stends into that. I think nowadays it sends
into the twenties as well, you look to someone in
the earlier to the twenties, they still know what's cool.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yeah. Well, the problem is that would mean if my
daughter as a teenager and your son who's about to
become a teenager, we've got another year and a half. Yes,
that would make me for nearly forty two. And so
what I'm saying is I know what's called on hip
at forty two, and that would make you fifty js
what it would But according to the survey, and they

(01:17):
surveyed millions of Americans about the age where they feel
like they can no longer keep up with what's in
and what's hip is age thirty nine. So I became
uncool last year.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Do you feel like I feel like, of the three
of us, you're pretty in touch.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Well only because I spend my life coaching team like
nearly teenage girls, so I hear a lot about what
they like. Like I knew white Fox hudies was cool.
They see them all wearing the white Fox hoodies.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Oh, it's really hard to stay on top of it
like they, you know, with the trends, especially in fashion.
But you know you can take it old school, can
you you know, you get what the original of cool.
You know if you if you slick your hair back
a bit, you'll just look like it and walk around
and saying it's still cool man.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
It's more from the sum of people felt like they
were out of touch on modern slag that they seem
to keep track of the latest celebrities these days. I
think we do that quite well on radio.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
I thought I did too, but then I saw the
met Galla the other day. Who the hell is that?

Speaker 3 (02:30):
But invite social media stars?

Speaker 5 (02:33):
Now missing the point?

Speaker 4 (02:34):
The point if you go into a cool place to
start talking about the celebrities at met Galla, you're not cool.

Speaker 6 (02:40):
You're a dorka He was just walking around and his
hair mate, that's true.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Do you know what I reckon? A really good litmus
test is if you ever a new act comes to
New Zealand like Freddy g In or Zar and you
don't know who they are, of which I didn't know
either of them d day.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
By the way, that means we're uncool.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
Cool put it on the jukebox, mate, Wow, I can't
believe how cool you two are.
