Amy's favorite way to get news is through Mosheh Oinounou {@Mosheh} so she is very excited that he now has an email newsletter called: Mo News Newsletter!!! It arrives in her inbox a few times a week to help her "stay in the know" with what is going on in the world. Amy shared her favorite 4 things about Mo News Newsletter: 1. He is the best person to follow on Instagram for news...but getting the news in email form helps for the days that Amy is trying to take a break from Instagram/social media. 2. Mosheh has always given us the news in a digestible way & his newsletter is no different! 3. He mixes in pop culture...which is a nice break from the heavier stuff! 4. His Friday newsletters include: what he's watching, reading & eating. Amy has found good shows to watch, articles to read, and snacks to buy at the grocery store because of this fun little addition to the newsletter! They wrapped up this conversation with gratitude & Mosheh shared 4 things he is currently thankful for!

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Okay, cass up road, little food for you so life.
Oh it's pretty, but it's pretty beautiful thing that for

(00:23):
a little moth kicking with four Happy Thursday, Amy here
and I got motion on for this episode. Now, Most you,
we're just gonna be one thing, and I was going
to do three other things with you, but then I thought, no, No,
we're just gonna have a sit down and do a

(00:45):
conversation and you're gonna be all four things. And how
I'm tying it into my four things theme is Most
has a new newsletter that he's now offering, and I
have come up with my four favorite things about your newsletter.
I can't wait, Amy, I'm so I'm so glad to
be on with you again. So before I share those
four things, why don't you tell us a little bit

(01:06):
about what the newsletters called, why you started it, stuff
like that. Sure, So, as we've discussed before a couple
of years ago, actually two years ago to be exact,
during the height of COVID is when I started curating
news on Instagram and really trying to break things down,
initially for friends and family, and then more and more
strangers who were trying to navigate the mess that is

(01:26):
the news, and so I took to Instagram and continue
to build that over the course of the past couple
of years and discovered that there are folks who like
to get their news and information from Instagram, but there's
a whole bunch of people that also want to be
able to get into their inbox and all the platforms
that are available, including of course these podcasts. So the
next step for me was launching a newsletter where folks

(01:47):
who might not want to have to scroll through a
couple of dozen stories every day on Instagram or not,
you know, take one of those important social media breaks,
still are able to get their information. So just earlier
this year, we're still only a couple of months in
launched the newsletter where I tried to take what I
do on Instagram and bring it to your inbox several
days a week. Right now we're three days a week,

(02:07):
hoping to take in a five days a week. On
Mondays and on Fridays, we set the table on Mondays
as to what's happening in the world and what happened
over the weekend. On Friday's we give you a recap
of the week that is free and available to everybody.
And then midweek we'll do deep dives into subjects, interviews
with everyone from former CIA director to entrepreneur and Sharkdank

(02:29):
host Starboard Corkrane, delving into everything from Ukraine to entrepreneurship
to the real estate market. And then we also offer
midweek to premium subscribers. This is a subscription, monthly or
annual subscription deep dives in the subjects. So we broke
down gas prices, we broke down the Iran deal really
in a way that allows you to understand it in

(02:52):
a conversational way and then discuss it with your friends, families,
and colleagues. So you've already mentioned a few of my
favorite things, but I'll go head and just list out
the four because I'm a paid subscriber. So again, there
is a free option, but there's the what do we
what are we called premium? Yeah, so you can get
a couple of years a week free and then if
you come a premium subscriber, as you get all of

(03:14):
the Okay, well, first thing is that I love you
on Instagram for news. That's how I was first introduced
to you. Some of my friends followed you and I
was like, okay, this is a legit great way to
get the news, like flipping through your stories, going through
your posts, and like, this is great because you have
such an easy way of communicating it to all of us.

(03:36):
But I will say, as I've been taking more and
more breaks from Instagram, I feel like I am not
exposed to the news and I don't even want to
get on Instagram because even if I go there just
for your news, I end up scrolling and getting caught
up somewhere else or looking and not the Instagram is
bad at all. I'm just taking longer breaks. So if
I go three, four or five days a week without

(03:56):
getting on Instagram, I feel like I'm behind on news.
So I of getting it in my inbox and getting
an email because I still feel like I'm in touch
with what's going on in the world because of what
you're giving in the newsletters. Second thing is it gives
me news in a digestible way. Again, why me and
all my friends love following you on Instagram is you

(04:17):
just give us the facts. You're not trying to push
an agenda or anything, and you present it in a
way that's easy to understand. And then the third thing
would be you mix in pop culture so it's not
just this heavy hardcore news. It's like, I mean, there's
a lot of heavy hardcore things happening. So I can't
even imagine your life on a day to day basis

(04:38):
having to break all this down for all of us.
But you are a huge fan of pop culture and
you're genuinely interested in fun facts, whether it's present or
in the past, or just mixing in that spice of
fun that we all like to know about too. Like
even this week, the newsletter that I got on Monday morning,
like I was already at work, and of course a

(04:59):
new about the Will Smith Chris Rock thing, but I
had already gone to bed. I didn't see it live
on the Oscars by any means, But let's say I
was someone that woke up and like, got my morning coffee,
had a little quiet time, then went over to check
my email. I feel like you gave a very thorough
rundown of what went down at the Oscars, but then
you also broke down stuff that's happening with President Biden

(05:22):
and you know, Putin and this and that, so you
had the pop culture stuff mixed in, and it to me,
it was like the first thing you knew it was
a big story, so it had to go out and
there it was bam in the newsletter. And I didn't
even have to go to social media to find out
about it, or I wouldn't again, I I work in
this world, so of course I knew about it first
thing Monday morning. But I'm just saying a perk would

(05:44):
be that if there's something big happening in pop culture,
you throw it in, or even if it's not big.
I mean, a big focus for me is just being
relevant to the conversation, you know, like we all know.
And I've spent a lot of time focused on the
kind of deeper issues, the bigger issues happening related to
the war, Ukraine, politics, etcetera. But as far as I
was concerned, the biggest story from about ten forty five

(06:07):
pm Eastern time Sunday night through probably you know, for
about twenty four hours was the what took place of
the oscars? Like what went down, why was it happening,
what's the impact, what's the background story, what are the
cultural ramifications? And frankly, trying to cover that and along
with everything else, right, we did a little bit of politics.
We did the n C double A final four recap,

(06:27):
did kind of o macron updates, trying to cover a
little bit of everything, just to give folks, you know,
a sense of the variety of the headlines that are
happening out there. Something I try to do on Instagram,
and I'm trying to translate it to the newsletter as
much as possible. I mean, sometimes, honestly, I just want
to avoid the news at all costs, but also it's
my responsibility to be informed. So most you're my guy.

(06:48):
You are officially my news guy. I really honestly don't
get news anywhere else. That's a lot of pressure. Amy.
I would suggest you also get other you you discover
other sources or consults. But what I try to do
is translate that for everybody, right Like, It's something I
try to do in the newsletter and also on Instagram,
is give people what each side saying, especially when it

(07:08):
comes to politics. I think it's so important because many
of us live in bubbles right where we might live
in a certain bubble where everyone agrees with us on
the left, or we might live in a bubble on
the right. Bobon greeting with us on the right and
getting that diversity of perspectives I think it's important. So,
especially the newsletter, you'll often see like what Republicans are saying,
what Democrats are saying. You know, what's one take, what's
the other take? Because you want to be able to

(07:29):
have those conversations, including with the people who agree with you,
but also people who disagree with you, and you want
to know where they're coming from. Okay, so are you
ready for the fourth thing that I love about your newsletter?
Go for it is my favorite part. Now. Of course,
you know news is important. But at the bottom of
some days, I don't know which day it is that
you add this in, but you put what you're reading,

(07:50):
what you're watching, and what you're eating. Yes, yes, Friday's
is what what we're streaming, what we're reading, what we're eating. Okay,
there you go. So I have actually watched a show
and bought items at the grocery store because of what
you have put down there. So I had no idea
that we Crashed even existed, which is the story behind

(08:10):
the founder of we Work and kind of the rise
and fall of that whole company. But I mean it's
still we Work is still a thing. If you've ever
like some cities you live in depending you might. I mean,
my husband office is out of what we work, so
maybe that's why I found it particularly fascinating. But what
a crazy life like him and his wife. It's totally bonkers.

(08:33):
And it's a show that's streaming on Apple Plus. And
I honestly never would have watched it if you hadn't
to put it in the newsletter. And I find it
to be extremely entertaining. Yeah, I've been watching to Jared
Leto and Anne Hathaway, which is fascinating. It's so interesting because,
like some of the biggest shows right now, amy are
all these kind of like fraud pseudo fraud. Right there's
a Para no Show, there's the Wheat Crash Show, there's

(08:55):
the Inventing Anna, there's the Tinder Swindler. Have you watched
Bad Vegan? Not yet? That's next up. Okay, we might
list it Friday. Yeah, okay, Yeah, throw that one into
your newsletter because it is definitely interesting. And then yeah
another one of those yeah fraud shows. Well, I don't
know actually where we crash, just gonna go. It's still

(09:15):
airing right now. Some of these shows you can watch
them in their entirety just binge it. But we Crash
just releasing every Friday on Apple Plus, and there's like
maybe three or four episodes out right now, but you
keep me up to speed there. And then you posted
about the Lesser Evil popcorn that I guess you and
your wife are eating, and I used to buy that

(09:36):
and I sort of forgot about it and I would
buy other popcorns. And I was at the store and
because I saw news and I was like, you know what,
I haven't bought this one in a while. I'm gonna
go ahead and buy it. And it's with the coconut
oil and the sea salt and the taste and the
texture is just different than other popcorns. And I forgot
how much I missed it. So shout out to your newsletter.
Listen if if we can provide a little bit of

(09:58):
everything for folks, from like what's going on inst definitely
a tournament, to what's the latest in Ukraine to explaining
gas prices, two shows to watch. I try to reflect
everything I'm interested in knowing about in the newsletter. So
you mentioned gas prices, so I just want your take
on where are we headed. I know you've included some
of this in the newsletter, but for people listening right now,

(10:19):
Like it's just it's crazy out there totally, and I
know how frustrating it is for folks. So we did
a special MO News newsletter edition explaining gas prices and
oil prices because I was getting so many questions from
folks about the pipelines about you know, how does oil
get price the way it does? How important is Russia?
And what you discover is, like, you know, the amazing

(10:40):
of the me is that the US is both the
largest producer and consumer of oil in the world. I
didn't realize how big we've become in terms of production
the past few years. Now, as far as gas prices
are concerned, as far as everyone knows at this point,
given where we are in the war, etcetera, we have
hit peak prices and we'll start to see prices coming down.
You've already seen that in the third week of March,

(11:02):
but it is too early to say because it turns
out that when it comes to gas, there's a summer
blend that is more energy efficient, which costs a little
bit extra, so you might see that reflected in prices.
The big debate is going to be happening is in
state capitals and in Washington, d C. Because one of
the things that goes in the gas prices is the
federal gas tax, which is eighteen and a half cents,
and each state has its own gas tax. If you

(11:25):
are unlucky enough to live in California, you have the
highest gas tax in the country. If you live in Alaska,
you have the lowest gas tax in the country. So
it's up to policymakers to help to bring a little
bit of relief to folks right now. But as far
as we know, knock on wood, given where we're at,
it appears that peak prices at least for the next
few months that we've already experienced them. How low they

(11:47):
go is the big question. I love seeing the feel
good stories of people that are buying gas for their
entire town or community, or they're saying like, hey, I've got,
you know, thousands of dollars on this at these tanks
comes all up gases on me, and those are fun.
But also some people are finding them to be frustrating
because they're causing traffic jams and different issues. But I'm like,

(12:09):
how can you hate on somebody that's trying to do
good for people in their community that otherwise like literally
cannot afford gas right now because it's so out of control.
We were talking about it on the Bobby Bones Show
the other day that you know, years ago, as a
radio bit, Lunchbox gave away free gas to Bobby Bone
Show listeners. And he went out this one gas station

(12:29):
and I mean there was a line of cars and
they were all lined up ready to meet Lunchbox and
get their free gas. And they would pull up to
him and he would hand them a can of beans
with the Bobby Bones Show logo on it. Get it
incredible marketing, employ there and helpful, you know, doing well
and doing good. Yeah, so free gas, but hopefully that

(12:50):
we see some relief in the gas department. I mean,
if anything, it's made us just be aware how much
driving that we do, or hey, is can we car
pull to this? Like I've just found our family being
a little bit more efficient. Just am I impacted in
a way. I don't do so much driving that it's
too crazy, But because everyone's talking about it, it just

(13:10):
makes you reflect and then you're like, oh, if we
were to car pool here, or ride together here, or
not take this car, it is interesting that hey, we
probably just saved a hundred dollars this week. Oh totally.
It's a significant part of many family budgets, especially if
several people in the household our community at a day
to day basis, and you know, you ultimately need to
figure out where you're going to make your other confessions.

(13:31):
By the way, my favorite meme related to all of
this is that the cheapest gas still comes from Taco bell.
I know, we're so mature, so mature. So where can

(13:53):
people find your newsletter? How did they subscribe? Either for
the free version or the premium version? First and foremost,
if you don't already, you can head over my Instagram
account at mosha at m O s h e h.
My newsletter is called mo News, you know, playoff of
my name, and you know even MO news and that

(14:15):
is MO News m O n e WS dot Bulletin
dot com. Over there you can subscribe to the free
issue as well as the premium edition. Does anybody ever
say MO News more problems? No? That doesn't really, It's
like more money, more problems. But totally, By the way,
may rest in peace. But I share a birthday one

(14:36):
with Notorious b I. G. Is one of my only
celeb celebs that I share my birthday with but yeah,
more news. There's a lot of play off of that term.
And we're still working on our merch plan right now
and various taglines. So if anyone out there is a
fan and has ideas, I am open ears. So please
dm me. Oh, I love that you're gonna have merch.

(14:57):
I'll wrap it. So you Tupac or Biggie. Oh you know,
my best friend was Tupac growing up, you know, as
a nineties kid, I loved both. I didn't want to
have to choose a side, and so I loved both
the whole Diddy b I g Era but you know,
on the East Coast as well as Snoop Dre Tupac,
So I don't want to have to choose just one. Amy. Okay,

(15:19):
see what I'm talking about, y'all. He can break down
gas prices and talk about the war in Ukraine, but
then he can also give you East Coast West Coast
hip hop battles or wrap vtles. Oh my god, I'm obsessed,
and we can talk about the history of Cereal General
Mills versus post I. Actually, I am trying to write
a streaming series on the history of Cereal, which is

(15:40):
a fascinating thing amy for another podcast. Wait, you're trying
to write what a streaming series like a show streaming
series like a like a dramatic series on the history
of American cereal, which is like filled with like murder
and like spying and an incredible story on like post
General mills Kellow, it's an incredible story from thirty years ago. Okay,

(16:02):
So I am obsessed with cereal and I posted about
it not too long ago, and I think cereal in
a coffee mug just hits different, Like if you pour
it in a mug and you eat it at night
with a spoon, it's just way different than cereal in
a bowl in the morning. Like nighttime cereal belongs in
a coffee mug, and it's just so comforting to me.
And Bobby and Eddie from the Bobby Bunch, they have

(16:24):
the Raging Idiots. They're comedy band, and I approached them
after that post because I just feel like other people
were relating to that, and I'm like, I want to
write a song about cereal, like a goofy comedy song
about cereal. Like it'll just be called Cereal. I don't
know if it might have a different name. But we're
going to be working on that. Maybe you could work

(16:45):
in the song into your series. Oh totally. I mean,
listen the Applebee song that I mean, there's a lot
of like good music that also is like relevant, food related, etcetera.
Damage haade tequila. So I think that there's a you know,
there's something there by the Applebee's song. Do you mean
walker his fancy Like yes, okay, fancy like Applebee's on

(17:09):
a date night. I want to hear most sing or
rap or something. You know. It's so funny. My wife
makes fun of me because I have a good knowledge
of history and facts and music history. But my knowledge,
I don't know what part of your brain goes to lyrics,
but that part of my brain just doesn't work. And
like I may have I may hear like a frame

(17:30):
of song. I can name the song, but I cannot,
for the life of me, memorize lyrics, and I don't
know what it is. So I'm embarrassed to be put
on the spot hearing. Well, that's wild because you have
a wealth of knowledge and you're like you can memorize
all kinds of facts and what's going on in the
world and weird dates and things I know, but lyrics
to me, there's not one song you could sing back

(17:53):
like like I don't know why this is my head
right now, but just now it must have been love.
But it's over now. Okay. You know what movie that's from?
The rock set song? Was it? Yes? Pretty Woman? All right? Yeah,
that's one of my favorite movies of all time. What's
yours favorite all time or top three? Yeah, because it's

(18:14):
like you go for a variety, I'll tell you my
top three and you can think for a second. My
top three would be Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, Steel, Magnoias.
So I would say we'll go from different categories here.
I will say that, you know, one of my tests
when it comes to best movies are if the movie
is on television and you still have to watch with commercials,

(18:35):
but you're kind of like, I'm going to stay on
the channel. I feel like there's something to Top Gun
that every time I want to stick with it. The music,
the storyline, It's just cool and awesome and feels good.
I'm actually excited for the is it the remake of
the sequel that's finally going to be coming out this year?
The Top Gun is one in the comedy space I
do feel like Wedding Crashers gave us so many great lines,

(18:58):
and so I enjoy way that as a comedy and
then you know, it's so funny. The Nighties were still
good in terms of so many films because I'm like thinking,
like which one do I go with? Which one did
I go with? But I really loved Forrest Gump, the
range of emotion, the history of it all, the musical soundtrack.
So we're gonna go with that. It's a good one.
And I just looked up the release date for Top

(19:21):
Gun Maverick, which is, you know, the follow up to
the original Top Gun, and it's May of this year,
so just after your birthday. Yes, what a birthday gift,
the thirty plus years in the making the second, the
next Top Gun And would you say your is your birthday? Mae? Wow?
Okay that was my dad's birthday, so I had no idea.

(19:43):
My dad shared a birthday with Biggie, with Biggie, with
Mr T, with Al Franken and with me. That's that's
your list breath. Okay, now you got me curious, and
I had to look up who I share a birthday
with and it's basically Adam Levine and Dane Cook. So
you win. Oh, Queen Latifa, what what? What date is

(20:03):
your birthday? Got it? Hap? People lated thank you and
happy early birthday to you. My birthday present to you
is making sure people know to sign up for your
newsletter and follow you on Instagram. And I know that
when you say your name, you're like Mosha, right, because
that is your name, But you have given I just

(20:24):
want people to know I'm not just calling you the
wrong name. You've given me permission to just say motion.
Oh totally, friends, family, uh, and many strangers just call
me motion now. It's easy. And then we even shot
it more from the newsletter just mo, just Mo. And
then the handle on Instagram. I know you mentioned it.
I don't want to say it again so that people
don't forget to follow you, because I'm serious, this is
a follow you do not want to sleep on. M

(20:47):
O s H e H. At most, that's it, and
then from there you can find links to everything that
will get you to the newsletter and all the stuff.
But he will keep you informed and in a way
that won't view crazy because I try to watch other
network shows. And then that's when you get into the
echo chamber kind of like what you were talking about earlier,

(21:08):
of like you're surrounded by people that are saying the
same thing, and then that's all you hear, and you
don't hear both sides, and then you feel like the
rest of the world is crazy and surely you're right
when it's really like no, no, no, stop living inside
this tiny little box. So I like, again, you're non
biased approach to the news and you're not like trying

(21:30):
to win over sway a particular side. You're just giving
us what we need to know to make our own informed,
educated decision. Yeah. My my core mission is just information
education and translating everything that's happening. So many people are
desperate for just basic information and feel like so many
media outlets this way these days are trying to push

(21:51):
an agenda on them, and I'm trying to I'm trying
to break through that with with both the more News
newsletter and the at most Instagram. Yeah, you're just straight
about I eat T information education translation. I tried to
say that really quick, say that really fast three times.
That's a lot of syllables. Their information translation, education education,
information education translation. Yeah, okay, well motion as always, it's

(22:15):
great to have you on and I'm glad that you
are moving forward with all the things with your brand.
I even see that on Instagram sometimes there's like little ads,
and you know, sometimes when people do ads, I'm annoyed.
But every time you do what, I'm like, go motion whoo,
I love it, like I want to watch it and
support it and do all the things because I'm just
so thankful for what you do in the content you're

(22:38):
putting out. Thank you so much Amy for for your
support there and even for supporting the ads. You know,
I'm trying to figure out, like I want to be
able to just do this full time and devote myself
and and navigating advertising and monetization on Instagram for news
contents a little challenging, but we're getting there slowly but surely. Yeah.
Well that's the thing I mean. I think people are

(22:58):
used to just getting whatever they want all the time,
and then now they're annoyed by commercials. We used to
have to use There was no way to avoid commercials
ever when we were growing up, so I don't mind
them so much. Also, I work in a business where
we're able to do what we do because of advertisers.
So if we didn't have commercials. Like I've been a
part of the Bobby Bone Show for sixteen years coming

(23:21):
up this summer, and like literally we are able to
have a radio show for free on the air waves,
which I know people stream stuff now. So now we
put the Bobby Bone Show on podcast and we've been
doing that for years, so people can stream us at
any time. They don't have to catch us live on
the radio. But then we get complaints about commercials in
the podcast dream and it's like, wait, how do you

(23:43):
think we put all this together and have a team
of like nine people putting on a show for you,
and we want no commercials, right, nine people who have
to pay gas prices and mortgages and you know, things
for their you know, food for their family. You Know.
It's interesting because so many people have this expectation of
free content and at the end of the day, like
those those who work in the business, who work in

(24:03):
the media, working news, like, there's only several avenues to
be able to make a living, right, advertising is one,
Subscriptions is another, and then the third model is if
you were to go nonprofit, like to have donations, but
that's still contingent on people paying right in some way,
shape or form. So that is the challenge all of us.
Everyone who's listening needs understand that those of the media have.

(24:23):
It's basically a choice. Do we go to subscriptions, but
then of course there's only people who can pay for
that subscription, or do we go to advertising where you
can make your content available to everybody, but you the
consumer have to somehow sit is sometimes sit through a net.
Preach right quickly? Can you just share with us four
things that you're currently grateful for so people can get
an inside peek into just, you know, your life. So

(24:46):
the little price in the grocery store. But I will
tell you that I just this morning had assumed O
orange and that was delicious. So and I think I
included that in an earlier newsletter addition as to what
I was eating like that was awesome. So that's one too.
Is a spring. It's still a little cold here in
the Northeast, but I'm loving glimpses of warm weather. So
that is a The second thing I'm grateful for right now.

(25:09):
The third thing very excited as we plan my forty birthday.
There is doom and gloom related to certain ages, but
at the same time. I'm excited. It's an opportunity as
we now have more opportunities to socialize again, to see
a lot of friends and colleagues, former collegues, et cetera,
who I haven't seen in a long time. And fourth,

(25:30):
but certainly not last, is I'm very grateful to my wife,
who recently was key to helping me kind of build
towards the launch of the newsletter. She's incredibly patient as
I often stay up very late to write this newsletter,
put together things um and also lerned me two interesting things,
especially in pop culture. She has her finger on the
pulse of all those things. So Alex is the fourth

(25:53):
person I'm grateful for. Well, I started following her on
Instagram and she's very into baking. It's teams are like
cooking or she might even like she's great in the kitchen.
She's both as a cook and a baker. Yeah, so
that's been fun to follow along. And yes, I love
how supportive she is on like your Lives if you're
doing the like the Instagram lives, giving us information right

(26:17):
there on the spot and she helps curate the questions
for you. And she's very you can tell she just
wants to make sure that she's getting you the right
information and the right question from the right person, and
she deeply cares about your audience, what y'all are doing together.
And I know she has her own life and her
own things, but to see her equally as passionate about

(26:37):
what you have going on and making sure that you're
able to do what you do to the best of
your ability, It's like you got your partner in crime
right there in your house. So it's super cool. I'm
incredibly lucky, incredibly lucky to have her in acredibly grateful
to Yeah. Okay, well, y'all have a great rest of
the week. On Saturday, don't forget, I've got an episode
of Outweigh going up. So if you have any history

(26:58):
or with eating disorders or disordered eating, or you need
something to be of comfort for you in that area,
that space, body image this weekend. That is what Saturdays
are for, quick like mine episodes, and then on Sunday,
I'll have another listener Q and a up So I
will see you all then and motion I'll see you
on email or Instagram. I'll see you there, Amy. Okay,

(27:20):
