Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to Episode to seventy two Special Thanksgiving Edition. What's
special about it is it's just not a lot of
music out. We do play music trivia against a musician
with Adam Hambroke. He's gonna play Lindsay from Oklahoma, which
is always fun. And we'll do another round of song
wars where we'll put up songs with the same title
against each other. All right, let's get going here. Number

(00:23):
five this week on my countdown of music that's coming
out that I'm excited about. Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band has
a live record called Straight to You Again. There's not
a lot coming out, but I did see Kenny Wayne
Shepherd twice in my early twenties put them on the
list in Austin both times. At number four, Miley Cyrus

(00:52):
has a new album called Plastic Hearts. Here's a song
called Prisoner featuring du Alipa. She also has a song
on it called Bad Karma featuring Joan Jett. Here's the
first one that would do Alipa. Can't you Why can't
you just let me go past something that you have?
My love notes? And here is that song, bad Karma,

(01:18):
which features Joan Jetta. Give Up do It? That I'll
think up that comma the number three Billy Joe Armstrong,

(01:39):
who is the lead singer of Green Day, has a
new cover's album out called No Fun Mondays. It features
his covers of I Think We're Alone now Manning Monday,
and here's the cover of that Thing You Do Pieces

(02:02):
like at Number two. The Smashing Pumpkins have a new
album called See Why r It's a double album. Here
is the title track, See Why Are Stands and Number

(02:27):
one Granger Smith has Country Things Volume two. Here's a
new song called by a Boy a baseball girl fows
take her to a show, Treat her like a lane
you maybe down the road. You give a girl a diamond,
put it on her hand. Watch your at her mom
making all the plans, and get a little house on
a little piece of land, built a little family. So

(02:50):
maybe one of these days he can buy a boy
at baseball, get him outside. Get Sandstord albums out this week.
Ju see the Hustle continues, See Alive. Yeah, Oh, who's
the one that died? You're talking about Juice World? Juice World,
The Juice Got Me? The other Juicy j is from

(03:14):
he was with three six Mafia. Yeah back in the day,
that's okay, got It, Got It. Hate Breed has a
new album out called Weight of the False Self Jesse,
Colin Young has Highway Troubadour. Young Thug has slime language too. Uh.
Some people recorded themselves singing in their iPhone. That's I

(03:36):
don't know. There's not a lot out of voice memo.
Today Music News. Grammy nominations come out for the sixty
three annual Grammy Awards that we broadcast on CBS January
thirty one, which it sucks for people getting big awards
this year because they don't get to experience it. If
you won the Nobel Peace Prize, you had to do
it virtually. That stinks. The Graham it's there's a lot

(03:58):
of situations that suck right now. But it's like and
also the ones that were super close to making it,
meaning Win's vaccine gonna be out? Is it summertime we
get to start having more real time the award shows again.
But it stinks for them because I would imagine it
will in January will be a full show, especially in
l A where they've closed indoor and outdoor dining again.

(04:21):
So uh. There are now highway signs in Mississippi, pointing
to the site of the nineteen seventy seven Leonard Skinner
plane crash. Skinner, known for Sweenho, Alabama. Freebird now has
highway signs pointing to the site of the crash that
claimed the lives of some of its members. We think
about that. It's kind of weird, huh. It is a
little weird. There's like people out taking pictures in front

(04:42):
of it. Weird. I mean, lead Singer died in that
plane crash. It feels a little too recent and morbid
because the crash happened in nineteen seventy seven. I feel
like death sites should be like thirty if thirty nine.
Right now, it's probably where I cut that, Like, we
get to go check out something where people died. I mean,

(05:04):
even when Eddie took a picture with Elvis's gravestone, that's
a little weird. Yeah, but at least that wasn't the
site he died. That was his his place that is
supposed to publicly be acknowledged. That makes sense, But yeah,
it's weird. Steve Luca Thor and Steve Porcaro from Toto
say Rivers Cuomo was actually kind of a jerk to

(05:26):
them and they think he's angry about the success of
Weezer's Africa cover. Here's the thing about Rivers Cuomo and
I've met him a couple of times. He's not He's
not a very nice guy. He's not a mean guy,
but he's very private. He's not a guy who has

(05:48):
begged for the attention. He wanted to make music. He
was in an little nerd man that made it. But
he's not the guy that's doing a bunch of talk shows.
I don't think he's a jerk. I think he's just
a different kind of personality. When I was doing Dancing
with the Stars, the last time they played no as
American Idol, they played one of the finale and so
I went over to the trailer and knocked on the door.

(06:11):
I was like, hey, I had had a record of
the Blue album. I was like, hey, would you guys
all sign this? And everybody was super nice. Rivers almost
didn't even come out of his back room. He was
just like looking in the mirror and watching his phone.
And he came out. It was like sign it, okay,
thank you. Talk to everybody else. They were great. Rivers
went back to it, but again I knew what I
was getting myself into. He's not known as the most

(06:33):
gregarious of guys. You know. Dr Dre's new album is
reportedly finished and features Eminem. Taking a Twitter page, Kennedy
indicated that he heard what would be the legendary artists
fourth studio album. He said, I hope you guys get
to hear it and Eminem will be on it. The
trial has been set for r Kelly. Oh alright, Kelly

(06:56):
stuff bad man. M hmm. It looks like April seventh
it will kick off. Also inside Tim McGraw and Faith
hill stunning Nashville mansion. Do you see this? What do
you think about it? Pretty nice? Yeah, pretty nice is
exactly the word. They married in a two thousand four
they purchased a home in the historic Upper Cross Bell

(07:16):
Mead area of Nashville. The data back to nineteen thirty four.
They did not disclose with a couple paid for the house,
but the home and it's surrounding eleven point six acres
has been a praise at two point four million dollars.
But it's way way, way, way, way more than that
way way way, you know. But it's it's an amazing house.
I'm always afraid to post stuff in my house like doorways,

(07:38):
entrance ways and stuff, because people will find out how
to rob my house, you know. Uh. Derk Spentley releases
touring plans. Basically he's like, hey, we're gonna try to
knock some stuff out. I think everybody's kind of going
spring is hopeful it won't be spring, but maybe you

(07:59):
can do some smaller stuff spring and maybe in summer
that vaccine is gonna become a thing. You think, will
they move it again or they just scale down the
shows because I think came Brown is starting in April.
Both they'll move No, no, no, they'll scale back first
and they'll move into full shows again. Taiwan's having full
festivals that had a hundred thousand person festival last week
because they haven't had a single issue with coronavirus in

(08:22):
two hundred days because they were like testing, quarantining. This
is what we do to get back to normal faster.
It's gonna suck for a second, but we got back
to normal so much faster, and they're having full music
festivals now because they handled their business what we did. Uh,
let's see Florida, Georgia Lion sold ten million copies of
their song Meant to Be and then Christina Bolton's Starting

(08:43):
Over debuts at number three. It is this fourth top
ten record. All right, there you go. That's your music news.
Thank you. Guys. Enjoyed the podcast Time for Music Trivia
Against the Musician with Adam Hamburg, who is what's your record?
Three and one? I think? How did you lose? Yeah? Ye,
brought in a ringer, brought in a ringer and he

(09:04):
roasted me. By the way. Yeah, I cannot wait to
hear this. Have you ever heard this game? No? Never,
I don't remember Adam losing. He did? Yeah, well you
don't remember it. Yeah, it went to overtime. I went
to overtime. And then I play so much trivia in
my life. Either I'm playing it or hosting or doing it.

(09:25):
I don't remember. All right, let's meet the contestant today.
Her name is Lindsay from Oklahoma High Lindsay, Hi, how
are you? I'm great? How are you pretty good? This
says you are a self proclaimed music junkie. Oh man,
Yes i am. I actually used to be a morning
show co host about ten years ago local country music stations.

(09:48):
We didn't replace you, did we through syndication Okayward, She's like,
you know, I haven't been help to get a job
sets us. She's not here to roast me, She's here
to roast you because that was about ten years ago. Okay, okay,
to pursue. Okay, good love that. So what kind of
music would you say is your specialty? Um? Probably nineties countries,

(10:13):
but I grew up listen the classic rock with my parents,
so I kind of like it all. Lindsay is on
Instagram at Lindsay Lee Brown Lindsay with an E if
you want to see what she looks like as we're
playing the game here. Adam on Instagram looks like Harry Potter,
look like Bobby's distant cousin. He looks like the the

(10:38):
good version of me, like the nice whole stay. If
there was a more wholesome version of me, I'm pretty wholesome,
that would be that man. Okay, Lindsay, if you win
fifty dollars. If Adam wins, he gets to promote whatever
he wants. Are you ready, Lindsay? I am ready? Do
we roll through these five for yeah? You should get
there five and then go to the next person, But

(10:59):
they don't. The questions are already written and okay, all right,
here we go? Up first is Lindsay Lindsay, Here we Go?
Question number one? Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake turned up
to the American Music Awards in two thousand one, wearing
outfits that were made of what correct? Wow, can you

(11:22):
think of that picture? Eddie? The famous picture? No, I
had no idea. I feel like you'all tweeted it on
your show recently. I think I've everybody tweeted it. They
both camera and Canadian tuxedos. Number two. Taylor Swift was
discovered in two thousand five when she performed at what
Nashville venue? Oh gosh? Was it the Blue Bird? Correct?

(11:50):
Question Number three? Cheryl Crow had her first big break.
She was a backup singer for who Oh? Five seconds? Um,

(12:13):
I don't know time, Adam? Did you know? I was thinking?
Was it Tom Edie? You know? I know Michael Jackson
was way off? All right, Lindsay's missed one. It's got
a question Number four. The Soul to Soul Tour featured

(12:34):
what two country artists? Oh? Easy? Final question? What musical
group performs on Jimmy Fallon's talk show His house band

(12:55):
is who Oh? I have no idea. I watched You
Gotta Get You, but alright, three seconds. Um, it's not
the ing idiots time, it is not the raging idiots,
the legendary Roots crew. The Roots would have been the answer.

(13:17):
So she got three out of five Adam handbrake, holding
my breath here, four to win, three to tie, alright,
to to lose, just to make it all clear in
case you're not good at math. Cardi b Familiar vaguely
first rose to fame in two thousand fifteen when she

(13:38):
appeared on what television show This is Gonna Bump Me out?
Because I'm I'm gonna kick myself. There's definitely sixty minutes incorrect, Eddie,

(13:59):
would you know that something on MTV right Love and
Hip Hop New York? Yeah, I wouldn't have got that
sixty minutes. Adam nailed it. Miss Independent, was which American
Idol winners post American Idol debut song that would be?
Miss Kelly Clarkson correct? Her actual debut song was a

(14:25):
moment like this, all right, a moment like this, that's right?
How does that go? A moment like this? Some people
with a lifetime okay, you know it? Sing on the front.
I work for the day show. Better Bob was an
American Idol encyclopedia and I used to watch it hardcore
up until about season six or so. Last time I

(14:45):
was in here, he went through and rattled off every
single American Idol champion press except I think you forgot
too that. I was like, everyone, I still don't know.
They're a couple of them there before autumn before it
changed over to ABC. That at the end, I was like,
I don't even know who that is one of them.
A couple of them live in town. Are trying to,
you know, be musical artists? Okay? Adam? Ready? Yes? What

(15:09):
US festival posted over three hundred and fifty thousand music
fans in nineteen sixty nine. Stock what Stock is correct?
It was Muddy Adam rock band a C d C
actually originate from what country? Australia? Correct? Are you talking

(15:36):
so weird on the microphones? I like this out of
my voice particular microphone. The residents. You need this to win,
Let's go. They're grateful Dead's highly devoted fan base for
the win. They are known as what speaking herself? That's

(16:00):
the dead Heads? The dead Heads is correct? Oh man?
All right, Adam, Adam, congratulations. But before we let you
promote whatever you want to promote, let's go over to Lindsay,
who did not win. Lindsey, how are you feeling about
yourself right now? Oh? I feel like his questions were
better than she would She would be going five or
five if she would have had my questions. We're far

(16:21):
too kind. Um. I don't know. I think, uh, let's
see what was would you've got the love in hip question?
You wouldn't he got love in hip hop? Mm hmm.
I'm saying that, like, I know, we've known you for
seven minutes and would have gotten the other ones. I'm
a huge American. I don't fans too. I was kicking myself. Lindsay,

(16:44):
where are you from in Oklahoma? I'm sorry? Where are
you from in Oklahoma? I'm from Lawton, a little over
an hour south of Oklahoma City. All right, you're gonna say,
all right, then you have to know where it is.
You know where it's. It's not too far from My
wife grew up in Fort Smith, Are and Song, so
we we kind of drive through that country going to
see and that's called boring segments. Right next week, everybody,

(17:08):
when we watched Pete dry. All right, Lindsey, thank you.
I hope you have a great day. And now sorry
you didn't win the money. Okay, that's okay. Thank you
guys so much. It was so much fun. Alright, bye bye,
Lindsey Lee Brown on Instagram. All right, Adam, well it's
not time to pay our pittance and give you some
time here. What would you like to promote? This week's

(17:29):
segment is brought to you by Uh. I was gonna,
I was gonna. I was gonna make a joke about
keeps talking oddly into the microphone like you had a
segment that time is getting shortage here? Oh man, what
do we got? What do we got? Um? The newest
flip side that we just put out, it's called Love
is Quick Sands a two song flip side. It's got

(17:49):
um got a song called the Longer ll A here
featuring their friend Jillian Jack. So, I mean, listen to
her voice, it's amazing. And uh and do we got
that song and another song called kill a Man on
that flip side and uh and so it's just just
music that that has been recently put out that I'm
excited about. So you can check that out. It's called

(18:09):
Love is Quicksand, and uh yeah, that's it. So why
are you naming the two songs their own title? It
kind of makes each one feel like it's own like
individual project. It's a little more than it's a little
more than a single, and it's a little something to
kind of put some context for men, like release some
videos and release some content and just kind of like
kind of start to like give people introduction to what

(18:31):
what I'm about as an artist, because I was, like
for a song called love with quicksand, did you think
that's what it was? And I didn't, you know what?
It has been kind of interesting because like I had
to like teach teach people what I'm what I'm doing.
So that's kind of been an uphill, uphill battle. But
I think um reminds me a lot of Garth Brooks's
character Chris Gameplain it. Yeah, it's not very good or easy.

(18:58):
This is my segment. Okay, Adam, you're the winter. Everybody.
Check out the flip side, which means two sides. It's
called love flip Side, Love is Underground, Love is Quicksands,
thank You, And it's got two songs on it. And
those two songs have two cousins, but not totally confused here,

(19:20):
okay at Adam Hambrike right, yes, alright, that for sure
we know at Adam Hambroke on Instagram. All right, thank you, Adam.
There he is. He's now four and one. Feels good,
Thanks buddy. It's not time for song Wars part two.

(19:41):
For this game, it's fun. So it's songs name the
same thing. We have to pick which one of them
is actually the better song? Joining us to be our tiebreaker?
Is Adam Hambrike. Adam, how are you? Hey? I'm good.
You can follow Adam at Adam Hambrike on Instagram, on Twitter.
Let's do song Worse first, Eddie the Middle? Can you
name the two artists that we're gonna battle within the middle?

(20:03):
I think I know it. Go ahead, So Marion Morris one, right,
and then uh, the other one is a punk band?
Is it? Uh? In the middle and it just takes sometime, right,

(20:27):
I don't know about it being a punk man. Jimmy World,
Jimmy World. Okay, I mean I get they're just kind
of a rock anything. All right, So yeah, the middle?
Who wins the song where Marion Morrison's dead or Jimmy
Eat World. This is tough because in college, The Middle
Jimmy World was big and I love this song, but
then when Marion did her Thing Like, I couldn't stop

(20:48):
listening to that. So I'm gonna go with the latest
song that just came out. I'll go with Marion Morris
that me do. I'm gonna take Jimmy World. Why because
there's a freaking jam. When I was still liking Jam,
it was all music is like, it sounds good, something
doesn't change me anymore. It's just because you're like working
in it and all that doesn't mean. But it's me

(21:08):
picking what I like. I don't know Jimmy Eat. World.
I know, mayor Maren I know, but I'm still picking
Jimmy World because that song was a life changer. It's
pretty awesome. Adam Handbrooke, you are the tiebreaker here. Is
it the Middle by Maren or The Middle Jimmy Eat World.
I have a big soft spot for Jimmy World, and
that song introduced me to that record, which was one

(21:29):
of my all time favorite records. So I gotta go
Jimmy World. There's our winner, Jimmy Medal. Remember this, Maren,
I picked you. She's a big fan. She listens everywhere everywhere.
Next up, there are three artists that have the song
creep Can you guys name them? Radiohead correct Pixies now,

(21:56):
TLC and I Creep okay and Stone Temple Pilots have
the man I used to be let's just say here
he Goes goes. If words weren't inside the sleeve, I

(22:20):
had no idea the words we didn't have. The Internet
don't tell if it was Pearl Jam, who cares what
they were saying, Eddie, Radiohead, TLC or Stone Temple Pilots.
I love me some Radiohead, man, i'mbout to go with them. Wow, really,
I love Radiohead. I loved this song when it came out,
but it wasn't right in my alley as much as

(22:42):
STP was. Because I just love Stone Temple Pilots. I
thought Scott Wiland was the coolest. Um, I'm gonna go
with STP just because I know everywhere to the song,
even the words I don't know, I still know. And
also Radiohead won't play creepy live, right, That's that's stupid.
We've talked about that only once or twice ever since

(23:03):
they put it out. When they played it anymore so like,
we don't want to play that song. So that's why
you're not picking the song. I did, just have a
lot of reasons. One, if I get to listen to
one right now, it's like pick one, it's stone to
the pilot. Adam, I gotta go with Radiohead. Yes, I
love this song. I love this song. This a This
was also the one that introduced me to radio Head.
I think you guys are posers. Okay, next up the song? Alright, alright,

(23:28):
Kendrick Lamar alright, alright, alright if I never heard that one.
This is the Butterfly record, right uh? And then Darius
Rucker alright, alright, god shoot you already calling it my feet? Yes,
this is a jam right here, Darius record. Alright, you

(23:48):
got Darius too. I don't know what you get tip
Butterfly right the name the record. I'm gonna go Darius
just because Yeah, I got spaghetti, a frensh bottle of Alright,
there's your winner run all right, okay, next step in
song wars Big Girls Don't Cry. There's more than one
of these? Which one? Do you know? Frankie Valley? So

(24:09):
how does it go? Good? Let me keep playing here?
Big Girls they don't cry, Ye go high. I don't
want to do that. I have a bunch of recording
do today. I'll lose it. Versus Fergie, Big Girls, Don't Cry.

(24:36):
I've never heard this? Is this Fergie solo after Black
Eyed Pieces? Never heard it? All right? You got oh
Frankie Valley? Yeah, me too, frank I do like that
Furgie versus Yeah, it's a good one. Okay. The next
one is Heartless? You have three here? Wow, the Weekend?

(24:57):
Here's this? You know that I've heard. It's funny. You
got Kanye West Heartless? You know that one? You don't?
Can that be so hard? Who are you? How can
that be so nothing? Nothing? Or diplow with Morgan Wallen?

(25:20):
Why you gotta be so? I know you're taking you
don't have any of that. So you got a three
side of corn? Let's just hope it. I don't know, dude,
are you taking yourself out of it? Yeah? I don't know.
This is you an Adam Adam. I gotta go Kanye,
I go Kanye Heartless. This whole record was great, all right?

(25:44):
How about this one? And song wars Angel? Okay, who
sings Angel? I'm thinking Shaggy correct my Angel. You know
my dog Angel, I don't hear the rest and she

(26:05):
destining Angel. I didn't make the list again. But the
other one is Aerosmith your angel to me, you're killing
the dude. You thank you. I'm staying up there. Shaggy
or Aerosmith. I'm gonna go Shaggy. Shaggy is too good, dude,

(26:27):
that is a jam. I love Aerosmith. I like that song.
But this, okay, Adam, all right, I'm gonna go Shaggy.
That I persuade you? Who are you going with that?
I was? It's pretty close, but I'm gonna Shaggy. Okay.
How about circles? Do you have Janet Kramer remember? Or

(26:57):
post Malone? Post post you too? We just go front,
We just sweep about fish. Do you remember garbage? When
I grow up? Yes, okay, here's garbage when I grow up,
grow up, I'll be so. Here is NF when I

(27:23):
grow up? When I just want to pay my bills
the way I say, yeah, I just want to versus
the raging idiots when I grow up? Why not? How
do we make this list? Is great? We haven't ever
something that magic titles. It wasn't hard to do, Eddie
raging idiots, absolutely raging idiots. Contest. Let me see it there?

(27:48):
Any other ones up? One more? But surrender, surrender, surrender?
Who's that? As things? That one? Uh, here's cheap trick too,
That's what I'm thinking. That is, all right? Richester, Let
crazes surrender or friend Elvis? Oh yeah yeah, I mean

(28:16):
still cheap trick though. Look I bought one of my
first seas that I bought was in Elvis, like greatest hits,
and this is on there. This is one I always
skipped for some reason, so I didn't like this one ye,
chief trick, chief trick, chief trick. Daddy's all right, Okay,

(28:38):
one more, here's the Bellamy Brothers. If you know this
song from the Bellamy Brothers, long you know that song
at all? Well, forever and long enough from the Bellamy Brothers,
or forever ain't long enough from Adam handbrake long enough
half in my hotel, don't make a first What do

(29:04):
you think we'll say it on this count of three?
So it's not awkward? Okay? One to three dollar Brothers
surer burker and this slaps slacks slaps, so people still
say that I never said it. So there's no, still,

(29:25):
I never said anything slaps fairly new though. Slap man,
that's slap. Yeah, that's a new Might you say slaps sometimes?
He put his head down and said that he's being
shamed by the older guys in the room. Okay, there
you go. Follow Adam at Adam Hambrooke that song Wars,
Thank you Gay
