Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, Tuesday, Q and a day, which now, anytime I
say Tuesday, if you listen to the Bobby Bones Show,
at least our podcast part of the show where we
do the post show pre show, Bobby and Edtie have
this song from a long time ago called Tuesday that
we've now started to sing and we did every Tuesday,
and so literally now anytime I say Tuesday in my brain,
(00:22):
I'm going Tuesday, Real Housewives going Boozday, eat some cash, shoosday,
Brown Cow goes moosday, I'm talking about Tuesday. If you
don't listen to the show, you're like, what is happening
right now? But um, yeah, let me recommend Bobby Bones
Show podcast. You can listen to the entire show that
(00:42):
we do. That's on the radio live every morning, but
it's all just condensed right up there on a podcast
for you. But then after we get done with the show,
we record a show that we put before the podcast,
so it's called the post show pre show and you
get to hear that and that is where we sing it. So, um,
some things before we get into the questions. Um, I'm
(01:03):
excited because this Thursday, on the four Things episode, I've
got for king and country on and they recently recorded
a song with Dolly Pardon, which is super cool. There
are a Christian group. They're great, um. But to go
along with that episode, they're gonna be the fourth thing.
But the first three things are going to be a
little sit down that I'm gonna do. I'm actually doing
it tomorrow with Becky Powe And she's from Austin and
(01:27):
she wrote a book called Awful Beautiful Life and it's
all about when God shows up in the midst of tragedy.
Her story is tragic and uh, she had to use
faith and country music to get through it. And she's
going to share with us a little bit about what
that looked like and how she you know, the music
(01:50):
part comes into the book. Each chapter has like a
different song quote from a country song that really resonated
with her at the time or helped her process through something. Um,
but mostly it was her faith in God. Her husband
killed himself, she had three kids. He left her with
over twenty million dollars worth of debt and she had
(02:12):
no idea. So she went from living one life with
her family and a pretty lavish life at that too.
Then Boom being um just completely caught off guard with
what happened next. So she's going to sit down with
us and talk about her book that is coming out.
And I have a family friend who shared this book
(02:36):
with me, UM, a mutual friend of hers and ours,
and he was even mentioned in the book. And when
I came across his name, I was like, oh, how
what he did for her did not surprise me because
of the type of man he is. And I used
to nanny for his family back in the day, and
I just was so proud of him and how he
(02:57):
handled it. And it's just it's crazy story. So I'm
sitting down with her, and she is going to a crazy,
beautiful story. I'll say that, Um, she's gonna kind of
be since like the music thing and then freaking in country.
They're like a Christian group and faith and music. Like
I feel like she'll be the first three things and
then they'll round out the fourth thing and it's it'll
(03:17):
be a good episode about faith and music. So hopefully
I'll enjoy that. And last Thursday, I had Craig canover
on from UM. I was about to say from Real Housewives,
but we did discuss some Real Housewives stuff, but no,
he is on Bravo and he's on Southern Charm. And
that was the longest episode and some of you all
listen to the entire thing, and I appreciate that. I
(03:38):
thought about editing it. I really don't edit the podcasts,
and we just kept talking and talking and talking and talking,
and it was almost two hours, um, once you got
the whole podcast built and ready to go. So yeah,
it's a long one. So if you've got a road
trip coming up, or maybe you missed that one, or
you've got you know, you're looking for a podcast kill
(03:58):
some time, definitely check out the Craig one. A lot
of good feedback there and he was really awesome. And
then also we just want to let y'all know that,
um the Pimp and Joy there's a new collegiate look
that we have that we're testing out. And Mary put
up some Camo hoodies that are super cute and they're
officially up and uh, you can go to radio Ama
(04:21):
dot com to always access anything them Enjoy or anything
a squaw or four things and yeah, four things totes.
I was about to get married on the phone to
kind of talk with us about this real quick, but
I just have to go ahead and recording kind of
get this done. But I wanted to have Ron to
just explain y'all, like we're not trying to be ever ever,
try to be pushy or annoying, but we just we
(04:43):
know how it works, and we put stuff off too,
and we know that we don't order things, you know,
right away until we have to. And for the four
Things totes were just we just know there's going to
be a cut off, and there's me a time we
have to say sorry, we we cannot fulfill these orders
just because of a like production capacity. So go ahead
(05:03):
and get your four Things totes ordered, your Christmas pullovers ordered,
if you want to do that, your Christmas presents, if
you want to customize totes for the girls in your life,
because they make a great gift. And Haiti is just
in a lot of turmoil right now. Like Haiti will
forever have my heart, and that is what a SPA supports.
The SPA means hope and creole, and we have hope
(05:25):
for Haiti. While some probably find that really hard at
the moment, especially those that are living there, it's like
what is happening. Um, there's just a lot going on,
and so the work that's being done on there is important.
The groups that we partner with are doing great things
to try to educate children, maybe to end this vicious
cycle of you know, uh, there's just the orphan cycle
(05:49):
there too. We want to help end that. So it's gosh,
my heart is just with everybody. I mean, we've got
a bakery there that some days isn't able to be
open um because the mess down there, and that's what
supplies people with jobs. It also provides funds for the orphanage.
So just like little everyday things like where if your
(06:09):
country was in turmoil and then all of a sudden,
like your business was closed for a couple of days,
like that would really really affect you. Um, Gas prices, riots, um,
just people being in danger, like walking down the street.
UM supplies hard to get, like costs skyrocketing, and when
you're trying to, you know, provide education for a bunch
(06:30):
of children again to change the landscape of the future
of this country, and then you know there's roadblocks because
you know you can't everything is more expensive. Anyway, just
know that the support we're sending there is going towards
good things. And I kind of want to get somebody
on maybe even from Project Meta Share that can better
(06:50):
explain the situation there and the despair that's happening. But again,
we have hope and UM We're gonna continue to help
down there as much as we can. So just know
when you are shoping with a SPA for any of
your Christmas presents, UM is a gift that is giving back.
So thank you in advance, and a big thank you
to those that have already placed orders. Just because shout
(07:12):
out your head of Things, You're awesome. Cross your cross
names off your Christmas list. Okay, let's get into the
first question. This one's from Samantha. Hey, Amy, heard you
talking about everything you bring with you on your trips.
I travel for work, and I was hoping you could
share what toiletries bag you use. And I kind of
(07:34):
laughed when I saw this one because I was like, oh,
sometimes I'm sure of using zip block bags like it's
nothing fancy. I feel like a gallon sized zip block
bag is a great travel bag. But I was just
at Target the other day and they had some super
cute clear ones that I bought for me and Stashira,
and I really like clear um because I like to
be able to see things when I'm packing, like I
(07:56):
already know what's in there and it's just quick. And
then so when I'm traveling and I'm trying to get
things out and I'm in the hotel room, like I'm
not digging through things, like I know, okay, everything that's
in this bag. But if you're looking forward to, oh,
quickly before Target, uh before I move on from bringing
a Target where I found the Clear bags. They're cute
little clear bags with a gold zipper. But um, someone
(08:18):
had sent me a message like, hey, what was that
Target Instagram you said to follow? I missed it and
I couldn't remember if I heard it on you know,
your Instagram stories or your podcast or wherever. So I
will um let you all know. That's loves everything Target
and she just got enough followers so now she can
do swipe ups. But that's our friend Ashley, and she's
(08:40):
awesome and she's always at Target and she finds good
things like and literally for me following her, I have
found cute stuff at Target, like cute sweaters that are
so affordable and look adorable and you just order it boom,
it's done. Because sometimes we don't have the time to
go to Target and sort through what's cute or not.
And she's kind of doing that for us cute kids clothes, um,
(09:02):
cute little things for the house. And now that she
has to swipe up it makes it even easier because
you just swipe up an order. And so again her
handle is at Loves Everything Target um. But moving on,
if you're trying to if you want to treat yourself
with the travel bag, Samantha Mary ordered this one for me,
I think maybe last Christmas or something. And it's this
(09:23):
tide eye little pouch that I love putting all my
toilet trees in it just makes it happy. And she
put my initials on it, so it says a B
and it's Stony clover Lane dot com is the website,
so it's Stony clover But then the website is Stony
clover Lane dot com. And they've got the cutest bags.
They even have a cute little backpacks. Um. It is
(09:44):
a little bit pricier than you know, the Target stuff,
but it would make a really cute gift if you'll
are wanting to get it for somebody. This is not
I'm not associated with them in any way, shape or form.
It's just legit a bag I love to travel with,
so hopefully that helps Samantha. But when in doubt, ziplock
backs for the win. Abby. This next question is for Mabbie.
(10:06):
Do you do gift guides? I'm new to listening to
your show and not sure if you've ever done them before. Well, Abby,
my podcast is about to be a year old, like
and like now soon in a couple of days maybe,
and last year I don't I didn't do a gift guide. Um,
I think on the Bobby Bones Show in years past,
(10:26):
I have done one where I tried to share companies
that give back, so that way, if you're wanting gifts,
give back through the holiday season. So to answer your question,
Mary and I are going to work on one. Obviously,
we feel like we have a lot of amazing gifts
through Spa and Pimp and Joy that we think that
people will love. But there's also some other companies that
we like to shop with. And we'll do an episode,
(10:49):
and I think we're gonna put it up like the
day after Thanksgiving. It'll be maybe even like a total
bonus episode, Like it won't be a normal Tuesday Thursday episode.
It will be like bonus on what is that called
black Friday, Black Friday. Um, an episode will upload and
it'll be special and it'll be our gift guide. I
do need to call Mary and confirm that we're going
to do that, so I will let y'all know. But yes,
(11:11):
you can expect that. And I feel like a lot
of people are. That's when they're hardcore doing their shopping. Um,
I'm sure a gift guide would be helpful, like right now,
but hello, I do sort of give you a gift
guide every week when I encourage you to get a
four things to out or four things that pouch or
a star necklace or something bim bin joy. So there
you go. Next question is from Mark Shout out love.
(11:33):
When we get questions from guys sometimes, I literally I
think only women are listening that they're not from Mark.
I saw on your Instagram you went to visit St. Jude.
I've been thinking about becoming a partner Hope and Hope,
but didn't know if it was legit. Um, yeah, Mark,
Saint Jude is so legit, and we did. We went
and visited last Tuesday and it was amazing. Like every
(11:56):
time I go, that place is just so cool. Um.
They really try to make it a happy place for
kids that are battling cancer and make it a place
that's good for the parents. And they pay for everything parents.
They know parents are people are coming from all over
the world, so they know you have to uproot and
give up your life basically, so you can't afford housing
and food and all the different things and transportation. So
(12:18):
they pay for it all. And uh, it's pretty remarkable,
but I mean obviously extremely expensive, but they are saving
lives and they are increasing the survival rate of childhood cancer. UM.
And what was super cool when I was there is
I met patient number seventeen. He's about sixty something years old,
(12:42):
and he was there for some regular checkups they like yearly.
I think patients go back there for like, um, to
get blood work and do different things because they still
use them as I mean, it's a research hospital too,
so but use them in a good way. UM, especially
since he survived, which is so awesome. He was patient
number seventeen, the seventeen patient to ever attend St. Jude,
(13:05):
and I met him. And what was cool is my
friend Ali, who is a patient at State Jude. She
was standing right next to me and I got to
see them meet and he said Hi, I'm patient number
seventeen and she said, Hi, I'm patient you know, number
so thirty nine thousand. So since him all the way
to her, and I think now it's like in the
(13:26):
fifties because she's been a patient there for m a
handful of years or more and she has brain cancer
and she still has to go back and still being treated.
But she's now she was not expected to live past sixteen. Really,
and if she's now like a sophomore junior in college
(13:46):
at all, miss so really really cool, Mark, They are
doing remarkable things. Um. I swear to you, Um, if
you become a partner and hope, you won't regret it.
My dad is a partner in hope. And when I
was going to say, Jude, he was like, oh, and
we were taking tour buses down there, and he was like, uh,
I wish I could hop on the bus and just
go with you all. But he's just not healthy enough
to be around. I mean, he's recovering from cancer last
(14:10):
year and these kids got cancered like immunity wise, like
he shouldn't be going to hang out with kids in
a hospital, but um, he really wanted to go. And
it is especially special because my mom has a plaque
there after she died. The day after, Bobby went on
the radio and said, hey, you know, and you know
a lot of you all were attached to Amy's mom's
(14:31):
story and in honor of Judy and Pimp and Joy, like,
let's make a donation and in lieu of flowers and
different things, make a donation to St. Jude and her honor.
And like that morning there was like a hundred and
fifty thousand dollars worth of donations, which is so crazy,
um because people are also supporting and um, that was
(14:54):
before we had like Pimp and Joy, but we had
it like in the works. So like I think two
weeks later you put a hat on sale that also
went towards St. Jude. So then there was more funds
that went. So anyway, pretty awesome place and it's special
to um a lot of people that I know. So Mark,
you're all good. And then I think, which speaking of
(15:15):
him and join St. Jude. We have a radio thon
that we do every year, and last year we did
not do a Pimp and Joy shirt with the radio thon,
but the year before we did, and I think it
went really well, and so I think we're gonna bring
that back, but again that's kind of up to St.
Jude and how that works and how we're going to
work it out. But I do think that we are
going to do a collaboration again, and that just makes
it even more special. So Mark, if you still need
(15:38):
some time to think on it, and maybe if you
listen to the Bobby Bones Show, hang out the radio
thon is soon and maybe you become a partner and
hope then Um, but no pressure here. Next question is
(15:59):
from Jennifer. I need a good bread. I have not
let myself have carves for so long that I don't
even know what's good for me anymore carb wise. But
all I know is my body keeps thinking about bread.
I'm just scared to eat it. I need bread. Jennifer
nice email. Um, sometimes you know you just need good
bread now. I like Ezekiel bread that could be an
(16:21):
acquired taste for you. It's not gluten free, and I
tend to be pretty gluten free, but it's a sprouted
bread so and with really quality ingredients, so it's good.
It's easy for your body to digest, so it's not
crappy bread. I will say it's probably even better for
you than some of the breads that are gluten free,
but they have a bunch ofather crap in it. So
Ezekiel is my favorite. And let me tell you what
(16:43):
I ate for breakfast this morning, Jennifer, because it was
so good, especially if you're craving like bread, um, but
you want like a well balanced breakfast like I did
um Ezekiel brand. This is not bread, but it's English muffins.
They have cinnamon raising English muffins and they are so good.
So I put the was in the toaster, ate the
whole thing like I just cut it in half, put
it in the toaster. Then I did two eggs over easy,
(17:05):
because I like them running. And then I had got
out some ge. I think Fourth and Heart is the
brand that I like, and I spread gee, which is
like a clarified butter, on the English muffins, and then
I cooked the eggs, laid them on top, and then
cut the yolk so the yolk went running all into
the English muffin and it was so good. And then
I put pink kimlay and see sauce all over the
(17:28):
top and it was amazing. It was good. Highly recommended,
and that will give you that bread fix that you need.
It was like kind of salty sweet, um, high quality ingredients,
like really good. You got your carbs, you got your protein,
you've got your fat. So I was really proud of
that breakfast. And before, like a long time ago me,
I would not have eaten that. I would have been
scared of the fat from the gee. I would have
(17:49):
been scared of the bread from the ezekiel or whatever
the ingredients because it's carbs. I would have been scared,
I think from the bread because of the carbs, not
because of the ezekiel. And what else would I've been
scared of? Probably the egg yolk, probably eggs in general.
Like I didn't really eat that many eggs. But let
me tell you all, I ate that, and I felt
(18:09):
good and ready to go. And honestly, you could eat
that any time a day. You could eat that for lunch,
you could eat that for dinner. Um. Although Aaron, my trainer,
she says to try not to have carbs after three,
but that's just her roll of thumb. She tells it
to all her clients. I'm not endorsing that. Um. I
do feel like if you like to go to bed
on a lighter stomach, then I would take that recommendation. Um,
(18:31):
but some people sleep better if they've got a little
carbs in their system. But like a complex carb like
sweet potatoes or something like that. Maybe okay, cool, So
there you go. That is the bread I like, Ezekiel
shout out. Next question is from Corey. I went on
your Amazon list and I bought the ice roller that
you had on there. But I need advice on how
to use it how often and are there any specific
(18:53):
things you use it for? Um? I mean, yeah, I
love just grabbing it straight out of the freezer and
I put it underneath my eyes like right away. Something
I do most every day is I weary my eye patches.
And I just don't know my Amazon page and I
think both are the ones I have up there. Of
the Peter Thomas Rother sold out, but the ice roller
is on my Amazon page, which you can find at
(19:14):
radio amy dot com. But I put it under my
eyes and just feel so good. Um. But yeah, you
just it's really easy. You put it in the freezer.
I put my little zip blog bag to keep it
from touching everything else because I clean it after each
use and throw it back in the freezer. But I
just use like light pressure and I roll it across
my clean skin, just from like the nose all the
(19:35):
way out. I roll up on my forehead, across my jawline, um,
like up my neck, and I just do it for
like a couple of minutes and then I clean it
and I refreeze it and I repeat it daily or
as many days as I remember to do it. But
it also, yeah, I can be good. I think I
mentioned my neck, but you could even do it on
your chest if you wanted to as well. So and
you can just google all the benefits. You can google
(19:57):
YouTube tutorial videos. Maybe I should make one, and YouTube
channel is something that's on my to do list of
things to really start adding to. But you know, there's
only so many hours in the day. So Corey, yeah,
I mean, get that ice roller. It's refreshing. It just
kind of helps bring your skin alive, and it's a
(20:17):
good anti aging tool at least that's what they say.
I mean, I'm not an expert, but I trust people.
Um from Kayla, how was your experience with laser hair removal.
I'm not worried about the cost necessarily, but how long
have you been hair free? Did you do it on
your whole body. I'm currently thinking about doing my under arms.
Any info would help, so Kayla, Yes, I went to
Ideal Image and full disclosure, I've been an endorser for
(20:41):
Ideal Image Wow since like two thousand and six and
very happy with them. I started with my owner arms, Kala,
so I think that that's a great place to start
and then you can see how you feel about it
and then move forward like I did under arms, and
then I did bikini, and then I'm group most recently
did my legs and after I did him, I was like,
what the heck me so long to do my legs?
(21:01):
Like this is amazing. And I would say for the
most part, you yeah, yeah, you end up pretty hair free.
But everybody is a little bit different, and um, it
takes a different amount of time per person. Like some
people it may only take five treatments and you're good
to go. Some people it might take nine, or sometimes
(21:23):
you may be hair free for like three years and
then you've got to pop in. But they have a
lifetime at least Ideal Image. I don't know if you
go somewhere else, but uh, at Ideal Image, you can
go in and be like Hey, WHOA got a random
hair that came back and then they'll just be like, okay,
got you and then they'll zap it um. So you
should be you should be set. I would recommend it especially,
(21:45):
but I do get that it's an expensive thing. But
since you're someone that's not worried about the cost, I
would say, sign yourself up. You will not regret regret it,
regret it if I could talk um, but if you
if you are understand, it's like a luxury. Uh, if
you're if you are concerned about the cost. I know
they have different plans you could do. But some people
(22:06):
like it's a real necessity, Like there's embarrassing things like
razor burn and um and grown hairs are a real
issue for some people. So labors laser hair moval is
a game changer, Like it gets rid of that and
there's no more bumps and it's not embarrassing, especially in
your bikini line or maybe if you lift up your
arms and then you've got some bumps, like all of
that can be really embarrassing, or you can't ever get
(22:26):
a clean shaved where it's a really really smooth um.
But if you get the laser hair removal, then you
can get rid of it, but you should go in
for consultation and just have them look at your skin,
type your problem areas, and then you can figure out
which treatment is gonna be best for you. But definitely
start small, see how you feel, start with the under arms,
and then take it from there. Um. I think that
(22:49):
that's it for today's questions. That's a wrap on Q
and A. UM. I've got to hang up and call
my sister because we need to talk about Thanksgiving. I'm
hosting Thanksgiving. I'm my house this year with my dad,
my sister, her husband, their four kids, my husband, my
two kids, and then my husband's parents. So yeah, I'm
(23:10):
not I'm a youngest, Like I don't I'm not the host.
My sister normally host because she's older, and then I
have an older half brother and older half sister. So anyway,
just I don't know, is that common for youngest, the
youngest in the family to not really be the host
per se. Maybe maybe not, Maybe there's not like a
stereotype there, but I feel like in my family that
(23:31):
just was not the role that I played. So kind
of getting nervous. I want to go over the menu.
What do I need to have? What are we going
to cook? What does everybody want? Are we trying to
have a gluten free Thanksgiving? Which is normally what I
try to do. Oh, but maybe I could work in
some Ezekiel bread or at least sprouted grains. Um. I
know we're gonna probably make Alabama Mac and Gigio, which
(23:52):
is amazing. Um. I will maybe while my sisters here,
we can make a video of us making that. Which
let me go to one plum tree dot com and
see if that's still working, because sometimes it's working and
sometimes it's not. Um, but for whatever reason, I guess
I'm not connected to the internet right now. Oh, man,
is it not working one plum tree dot com? Is
(24:13):
it down again? Because I was going to send you
all there to find We'll see if it works for you.
One plum tree dot com and album Mac and Cheesio
is up there, and yeah, we just added the yo
at the end. But it is an amazing dish for Thanksgiving. Like,
if you're going to be a guest somewhere, show up
with that and everyone will love you because it's so good.
(24:34):
But it's very cheesy. I guess you could use gluten
free elbow noodles and then it lists it's at least
gluten free, but that thing is not dairy free. And
I haven't even tried to alter things and make substitutions
because why it's Thanksgiving, who cares, um, And it's so
good you put it in iron skillet baller, So I
(24:54):
think we're gonna make that anyway. I need to get
on the phone with her plan Thanksgiving, be a hostess
with the mostess, and oh, you know who else I'm
interviewing this week because I know I shared with you
all that I'm gonna do UM my interview with Becky Powell,
but also Annie Downs. Um. We're recording this week and
saving it for UM. I guess the episode will air.
(25:19):
It'll air on Thursday, November UM. But I'm super excited
about that. I know that I've got messages from some
of you saying, hey, you should have any Downs in
your podcast, and I've been excited to be able to
reply and be like, guess what already on the books,
like we booked it months ago. So I'm excited to
finally finally meet her. I've never met her, so lots
of things to look forward to. UM. This Thursday's episode,
(25:41):
like I said, with Becky Um, and then Annie downs
at Tricia Yearwood will be um coming up on the
one that will be the episode after Annie Downs, and
then the Thanksgiving episode. Oh. I thought maybe the My
Little Gift Guide would air on Friday the twenty nine,
(26:03):
like a bonus episode, But it looks like maybe I
have it scheduled for actually Thanksgiving Day, but you're gonna
be so busy that day you probably won't even listen
to it till the twenty nine, So yeah, boom. Maybe
it'll just be that I don't know, just looking at
my calendar trying to try to be all official here
gets stuff worked out. Um. I hope everyone has a
(26:24):
great day. And if it's you know, if you say Tuesday,
