Speaker 1 (00:04):
Happy Tuesday, everybody. I hope wherever you are in the
country right now, if you happen to be like where
I am in Nashville or any part of the country
that is dealing with this severe weather, that you are
safe and staying as warm as possible. We were in
Missouri on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and we got stuck
there for a little bit because our flight got canceled

(00:25):
and we didn't know what we're gonna do in the road.
Conditions were just not good. But we ultimately decided, Okay,
we'll just rent a car and drive back. Luckily, my
husband is a skilled driver in this type of stuff.
Otherwise I'd probably still be in Missouri because there's no
way that I would have been able to drive on
these roads. I can barely be a passenger on these
types of roads. Like I am the worst because I

(00:47):
do the thing where you gonna make all the sounds,
like if anything seems off with the road or there's
another car or something just feels weird, I'm like, oh, oh, ah, okay,
you know, and I do that, and it's very annoying
for the person that is actually having to drive in
the stressful conditions. So don't be like me, but also
shout out if you are like me. I guess it's

(01:08):
the way we are, but we can do better. I
tried to relax the last half of the trip and
just breathe and let him handle it, but whether is
definitely crazy. So yes, just want to make sure y'all
are safe and sound, and thanks for listening to today's
episode and sending in emails if you did four things
with Amy Brown at gmail dot com is the email

(01:29):
address in case you've never sent me a note, I
would love to hear from you. Today. I'm going to
go over emails that addressed how my Instagram recently got
hacked well this last weekend. Yeah, and I want to
make sure that you didn't give out any information to
anybody that wasn't actually me, because they did DM some
of my followers and they were trying to get info

(01:49):
from them. I also have where you can find my
Morning Corny that I do on the Bobby Bones Show
because a lot of people do use that as a
way to bond with other people in their life, So
tell you what I know from listeners on how they
use it. And then I also have how to deal
with damaged hair, or at least what I did for
my hair to get it going in a better direction.

(02:10):
And then ways to add movement into your day. And
we always like to start off Tuesday episodes before we
get into the emails with a quote, and today's is
from a sweet card that I received from my friend Emily,
which had some very inspiring words. She wrote, rainbows remind
us that even after the darkest clouds and the fiercest wins,

(02:31):
there is still beauty now. The author of that is unknown,
but I love that Emily chose to put that quote
on the card that she gave me because it offers
such hope and some of you may need to hear
that quote right now as well, and then anytime we
see a rainbow, we can be reminded, yes, there is
hope now. The card came tucked into this happy Cactus
box as well, and inside the box was the sweet

(02:53):
little succulent. It really right in my day and it
was the cutest little gift. So I thought, maybe if
you're looking to brighten someone's day, you could check out
the Happy Cactus Box. It's on Etsy, so you could
just search for it there. But thought it was a
really cute gift idea. Now, first email I'm gonna get
into is from Aaron. Hey, Amy, I really hope this
gets to you. I think your Instagram account was hacked.

(03:14):
I received a d M from your account giving away
a sweatshirt, and since your last I G post was
a giveaway for an I'm Fine sweatshirt, I thought maybe
it's you. But then the first flag was when you
asked for my phone number. The d M came from
your account, the one I was already following with the
blue check mark, so I thought it was legit, so

(03:34):
I gave my number. The area code of the number
that texted me was from Austin, and I thought maybe
the text was through a texting service for security reason,
so I ignored the flag going off in my brain.
But when I asked for proof to make sure it
was really Amy Brown and not the scam, the person
contacting me was unable to do so, and now I
am blocked from your Instagram. I attached screenshots to show

(03:57):
the conversation and the d M that was from your account.
I just want you to be aware, to prevent anyone
else from falling for this, and hopefully to be unblocked.
I'm sorry. This happened to you. It's unfortunate there are
people who will go through such great links to harass others. Sincerely, Aaron. Okay, Aaron,
thank you so much for sending this to my podcast
email and heads up. I did unblock you on Instagram

(04:20):
and I sent you a d M to let you
know that. But you probably are reluctant to believe that
it is me. But you were really awesome to look
out for me, because yes, my account was totally hacked.
I'm thankful you proceeded with caution and you asked for
more proof. And I share this email as a warning
because if you two got a d M like this,
it was not me. I have changed my passport on Instagram.

(04:42):
But yeah, it was for sure hacked. And I have
no idea who all they messaged while they were in
my account, because it looks like they deleted the d
m s And I do love doing giveaways and I
wouldn't put it past me to reach out randomly to
get something away. So that's the scary part is they
sort of talked like me. Except for one of the
screens images that Aaron sent me, there was a message

(05:03):
from them. I think when they were texting her after
they got Aaron's number. They started off the text with hello, gorgeous,
and I'll just say right here, I don't talk that way,
but I get it with the blue check mark, and
then maybe the Austin number, which I know, Aaron, you
said you saw that as a red flag, as you
would think. Maybe I have a Nashville number, but I
feel like maybe they chose an Austin number because I
was born and raised in Austin, Texas, and didn't move

(05:24):
to Nashville until two thousand thirteen, So they maybe intentionally
we're using an Austin number to trick people. Not quite sure,
but it really is scary and I'm so sorry to
anyone that this happened to. And as always, I appreciate
you guys letting me know if something fishy is happening
out there. And Aaron, I want to send you a
four Things Gratitude journal since you had to deal with

(05:45):
the hacker. I've emailed you to let you know that
I need your address, and hopefully sent you emailed my podcast.
You know if I'm replying that it's legit me, so
I definitely it really is me, and I really do
want your address so I can send you a gratitude
journal as a thank you and then a friendly reminder
that we're halfway through February and our Gratitude Challenge starts

(06:06):
in March. So if you want our journal, or you
want a gift a journal to some girlfriends or your
daughter so that they can do the challenge with you,
there's still time to order and support education in Haiti
through your purchase, which Radio Amy dot com is how
you can find a link to shop. But this is
just a reminder for the procrastinators out there that are
like me, like you want the journal, but you keep

(06:27):
putting it off. I never want to come across like
you need this journal to participate, because you do not.
You can use any journal that you already have. You
don't have to spend any money. You just join us
in writing down four things each day that you're thankful for.
And you're all good and the challenges coming up in March,
but you can go ahead and start now. But March
is where we really dig in, and we're gonna try
to do thirty days in a row, all right. Email

(07:00):
number two is from Beverly, Hey, Amy, where can I
find your Morning Corny? If I need to look it
up later in the day so that I can tell
my friends. I can never remember them well, Beverly. The
Bobby Bones Show Instagram page post them every day. So
that's at the Bobby Bone Show if you want to
follow them over there. So I'm gonna give you some
jokes here that you can maybe jot down to share

(07:22):
with others in your life. But on the Bobby Bone Show,
I say the joke and then Bobby repeats it, and
then I give him the answer. I don't have Bobby
here with me now, just me myself and I maybe
I'll try to do Bobby's voice or something. How to
ghosts listen to music? How to ghosts listen to music
with Bootooth? What do you call a dog that can

(07:49):
do magic tricks? What do you call a dog that
can do magic tricks? Elabraca dabador? Where to toy stores
keep their Arnold Schwartzenegger action figures? Where to tour stores
keep their Arnold Schwartzenegger action figures? I'll be back. I

(08:15):
once met an astronaut who was claustrophobic, and turns out
he just needed a little space. All right. Those are
some morning cornies that I have shared on The Bobby
Bones Show before, and I do the Morning Corny every
morning Monday through Friday at seven a m. I guess
depending on where you live in the country, it might

(08:36):
be at a different time, but here in Nashville on
Central time Zone, we're doing it at seven am. And
then you can find it on the Bobby Bones Show
Instagram in case you missed it. And again, you want
to text it to your kid to bond with them,
or your teacher. You want to put it up in
your classroom that day, all right. Email number three is
from Brooke. Hey, Amy, I've been a loyal listener since
day one of the podcast and love being on this

(08:58):
journey of life with you. I heard you men, and
you've recently gotten your hair back on track from past damage.
My hair has been breaking off like crazy and it
won't grow any tips as far as hair care. Your
friend in Denver, Brooke, Oh Brooke, if you're in Denver,
you're like a big whimp dealing with this Nashville snow
and eyes on the roads. You'll have to deal with
this kind of thing on the daily, but seriously, it

(09:20):
shuts us down. Okay, So anyway, Brooke, I no longer
go high heat on my blow dryer anymore, and I
keep all of my hot tools below four hundred. I
saw somewhere that researchers discovered that three sixty five was
the ideal heat for your flat iron. Like that temperature
allows for the hair to actually do what you wanted

(09:41):
to do without damaging it. So I try to keep
things around three. If you're hot tool even has the
option to adjust temperature, just try to keep below four hundred. Now.
I use heat protectant sprays on my wet hair and
my dry hair, so I spray it down while wet
before I blow dry it, and then I spray it

(10:01):
down with a different product for dry hair before I
use hot tools. Another thing that helped me was I
cut back on the blowouts, Like when you go just
get your hair blown out and you pay someone yes
to blow dry your hair. There was a time pre
COVID that I was justifying getting my hair blown out
all the time because I could work the forty five
minutes that I was getting my hair done. I felt

(10:22):
like I was killing two birds with one stone, and yeah,
again I could just justify it, so to me it
was worth it. However, I think it was incredibly rough
on my hair. Now every once in a while that's
definitely a nice treat, but I was going way too
much and they were using all the heat and sometimes
even metal brushes, which is another thing. No metal brushes,
just say no to those. I also recommend a deep

(10:45):
conditioner treatment or a hair mask once a week or
every couple of weeks. And then another thing is to
give your hair a break for many hot tools as
long as possible. That's something that happened for me during
COVID naturally, because I was just doing my hair ways
us and I saw it getting stronger, like at the
start of lockdown last March, and we were not going anywhere.

(11:06):
I let my hair air dry all the time. I
went weeks and weeks without blow drying or using a
hot iron, and I saw a difference in my hair. Also,
trimming split ins something that is helpful talking with your
hair person. I mean I I talked through a lot
of this with my hair person because she noticed my
hair was damaged. I was getting frustrated with it, like
some parts of my hair had broken off and they

(11:28):
were just so short. So she talked me through a
lot of this back then as well. And then I've
also been consistently taking neutral Fall, which is a hair
strengthening supplement, for several months now, and then I've just
practiced patients. You definitely just have to be patient. It's
not a fix that's going to happen overnight. Just try
to start implementing all the right things, notice what works

(11:50):
for you, it doesn't work for you, and then stick
it out. Stick with it, because it took me months
to dig myself out of that hole I had gotten
myself into with the damaged hair. Alright. Email number four
is from Zach any advice on how I can stay
active and get back into shape. I came from a
job where I was getting twenty to forty thod steps
a day, and now I sit all day long in

(12:12):
equipment and I struggled to get five thousand steps in
a day. I'm worried about my own health because of this.
Thank you, Zach. Okay, Well, Zach, First of all, I
don't think anybody needs twenty steps per day for health,
but that definitely is a drastic change from what you
were used to, so I totally get it. I personally
used to be obsessed getting ten thousand, sometimes even twenty

(12:33):
thousand steps per day, but I don't pressure myself on
that anymore. I no longer fixate on a number. I
just try to focus on how I feel and try
to get other types of movement besides steps. Now I
understand the struggle of sitting for work, especially when your
body is accustomed to a certain amount of steps or
certain type of movement per day. But these are things

(12:54):
that I used a thread movement into my day, because
I mean I sit and record the radio show for
hours and hours. Now you could use your lunch break
to take a walk, maybe even eat while you're walk,
depending on what it is. But I want it to
be enjoyable. I don't want you to be like rush
to like scarf down food. But sometimes I just eat
something quickly and then I'll take my dog Cara for

(13:15):
a quick thirty minute walk around the block, move my legs,
and clear my head for the afternoon, kind of a
midday reset. Hold. A walking meeting doesn't sound like if
you're working a long day and equipment, but you might
have meetings like that. But for me, personally, I'm speaking
to other people as well. You'll find me walking around
my backyard, going in circles, answering emails or on calls,

(13:36):
or doing something on Instagram while getting some vitamin D
from the sun. Also, Zach, I mean a quick ten
minute yoga session during a break might be a way
to get in some movement to your body and stretch
it out since it's been sitting for so long. And
this serves multiple purposes for me. Sometimes, if I've got
five or ten minutes and I do a quick little
yoga session, it helps me quiet my mind, it helps

(13:59):
me center my heart and my brain and just get refocused.
And then if you're looking to get your heart rate up,
do it when you can in a fun way that
brings you enjoyment. Now, I'm sure for you it was
awesome to just get a bunch of steps at work,
But I think taking care of your body doesn't equate
to how many steps that you're getting, And there are
other things you can do to get your heart rate

(14:21):
up and that far outweighs the number of steps that
you're getting. Like, Zach, I don't know, do you have
a break room where you can like have a quick
dance party, or you can bust out some jumping jacks
or do some push ups or things that will like
get the blood flowing. I don't know what it looks
like for you, but I do know that I feel
your pain going from like getting a bunch of steps,
so then having to sit all day. But there are

(14:42):
other things that are good for your heart and your
health besides steps. Can you sit there on your piece
of equipment and hold your core tight and practice some
really heavy, deep breathing exercises That is going to be
good for your body as well. All Right, that's a
wrap on today's episode and I we'll talk to you
on Thursday for four things M
