Wellington Airport is opposing a new crossing with traffic lights on Cobham Drive, proposed as part of the Let's Get Wellington Moving project.
The proposal would also slow down speed limits on the State Highway One road.
For the first time, Wellington Airport's CEO Steve Sanderson is publicly criticising the plan, which could impact travel to the airport.
He told Wellington Mornings Host Nick Mills there should be an overpass instead.
