Bank, Freedom Tire, Seeing,k Heating and Cooling and Mormon Clothiers.
Let's go Live to the diamonded withKASI Sports Director Dave sprou Good. Afternoon,
Welcome to the Aames High Softball Diamondare at the twenty fourth Street Athletic
Complex as Little Cyclones wrap up theregular season by taking on four Dodge,

(00:28):
two teams tied at the top ofthe division standings, both thirteen and one
against squads from the Iowa Alliance ConferenceNorth Division. So it's nights doubleheader could
determine an outright champion or a tiebetween these two squads at the top of
the standings. Ames comes in witha twenty two and fourteen overall record,
fourth Dodges twenty five and seven.Little Cyclones rallied four oh win. A

(00:53):
couple of nights ago at Gilbert twelveto ten was the final at Aames trail
nine one after three innings, thenstorm back out toward the Tigers eleven one
in the final four innings to comeaway with the two run win thanks to
three runs in the seventh inning.Of that one. As for the Dodgers,
they've won five straight and fourteen oftheir last sixteen, including a sweep

(01:15):
of Waterloo East, both run rulewins ten nothing and twelve nothing on Tuesday
night. These two teams met earlierthis season in Division Play. The games
at fourt Dodge on June twelfth asplit between the two teams, as the
Little Cyclones won Game one, onenothing, and then the Doctors bounced back
to split the nightcap six to four. The win in that one for the

(01:38):
Dodgers. Coming up, they'll havethe first pitch and the starting lineups are
on the way up. Next,we'll hear from ains High head coach Megan
mount baron This is Little Cyclone Softballand new Stalk fourteen thirty Kasi Foco back

(01:59):
leaves High Softball for game show orvisiting with head coach Megan von Barron coach
kind of a wild one Gilbert theother night. How did that game unfold?
Oh my goodness. Yeah, wegot behind nine to one. They
hit the ball really well and wejust kept chipping away. We had a
six six inning, six run inning, and then just kept going. Kira

(02:20):
tied it up in the top ofthe seventh at ten, and then we
scored two more and slowly got inand as a as a you know,
tough spot, just pinch hitting andgot a hit and just kept us rolling
and it was fun. Is thata reflection or maybe an increase in the
confidence of this team when you comedown or you get down late, you
can still come back and win agame. I hope it's an increasing confidence

(02:42):
because we say it all the timewhen we are down that we're not out
of this game and we can stilldo this. So I think it was
definitely they wanted to win that game, not that they don't want to win
other games, but I think itdefinitely will help them in future instances.
No, because actually, you know, the night before we had scored i
think eight runs on two outs, and so that was kind of what we

(03:05):
were saying and fueling, like wecan absolutely do this. And so yeah,
it was. It was a fungame and it was wild well tonight,
of course it's a division title onthe line here with with Fort Dodge.
How exciting is it's just for yourteam to have this opportunity. It's
very exciting. I mean, theynoticed, you know, they recognize that
we don't have a softball banner yet, and so this would get us our
first softball banner. So I meanit's little things like that that we're definitely

(03:29):
playing for and we're excited to bein this position. And you know,
same record with Fort Dodge and wesplit with them before and definitely hoping to
take two from them tonight. Goingback to that split, what was the
differences between those two games? Yeah, the first game, you know,
Sid pitched amazing and we just keptfighting until the end and m Reese was

(03:49):
on and for the second year ina row, it was you know,
Reese got the hit that helped usout on that. So the next game,
you know, we were ahead andwe just they got back in it.
They fought hard, and they wereat home and I'm hoping tonight being
at home it makes a difference forus and we can take two. One
thing I know is similarity between yourteam stat wise, is you draw a
lot of walks. What are someof the keys to making sure your batters

(04:12):
are patient at the play? Yeah, I mean Mia is a prime example
of that. Mia will go threetwo almost every single time with the bat
But yeah, I mean they justlook for their pitch and We've played i
think four Dodge enough that we knowkind of that she's going to throw a
rise, she's going to throw achange, and so we're just looking for
our pitch and trying to um,you know, get a hit and anyway
on we want to score. Sothat's definitely they're looking to get on how

(04:35):
much how valuable is that to haveseen their primary pitch are already a different
pitch from last season, but onewho's awfully talented. Yeah, she was
their number two last year, sowe definitely still saw her two games last
year, and so it definitely helps, and you know, we just feel
like we can beat them and werewe are pretty pretty even kill with them,

(04:56):
and so we're just excited to getout there and hit the ball.
We all can hit the ball, and they just have to go do it.
Is there even more motivation knowing thatthis was the team that ended to
your season last year? Oh?Absolutely, it always is, I think
with Fort Dodge and so it's afun little rivalry and yeah, definitely there's
definitely some thoughts of last year, and there were when we were up there
earlier this season too, and nowwe're here and so it's going to be

(05:18):
a fun night. Well, nowthat you know your postseason opponent as well,
I don't want to get you thinkingahead of tonight, but is there
anything you want to see that makesyou that will give you an indication that
you're feeling good about things going intothe postseason. I think just both our
pitchers doing well tonight and just keepingour bats hot will be will be big.
I mean if we get behind, and I mean I've obviously expect us

(05:41):
to keep keep fighting hard and maybedo what we did, you know,
against Gilbert, and that will allbe good indicators for in the postseason.
Coach, thanks for your time, best of luck against the Dodgers. Thank
you very much. Games I headcoach Megan von Barron joining us on the
pregame show. This is a littlecyclone Softball on News Talk fourteen thirty KSI
and Fort Dodge battling for eight Divisiontitle tonight, as we get set for

(06:05):
the first game of this double headerbetween rivals from the IOWA Alliance Conference North
Division, and let's run down thelineups, beginning with the visiting Dodgers and
head coach Andrea Adams. We'll gowith me and mchaeleb to lead off.
She's a third base centerfielder Maggie ellsBecker batting second. Betting third is the

(06:29):
short stop Hope all Stott. Rightfielder Lydia Laura I think that Lydia Lara

She's in left field. Desitator playerMackenzie malcol rapplebat six. She's sitting
for the pitcher Lucy Porter. Bettingseventh for the Dodgers is Macy Brown,
the first baseman. Catcher Ellie Dosteris batting eighth and rounding out the fourth

(06:51):
Dodge lineup is the second baseman AshelynWills, Me and mchaeleb Maggie Ellsbecker,
Hope all Stott, Lydia Larakada Tuney, Mackenzie Malcolrath, Macy Brown, Elie
Doster, Ashlyn Wills. The battinglineup for Dodge for Ames high and head
coach Megan vond Barron plied up batterwill be Kaylee Mesker. She's in right

(07:13):
field. Center fielder Alie Franson battssecond. Betting third is the shortstop Ellie
Lynch. Third baseman Katie Rieselman's battingfourth, betting fifth is Kyra Anderson.
She's the catcher Myra Geffrees at firstbase. She'll bat six. Betting seventh
is Mea Vogel, the second baseman. Left Fielder Josie Thailand bats eighth for
the Little Cyclones. Rounding out theAmes lineup is the designated player Norah Morgan.

(07:39):
She'll hit for the starting pitcher forRames, Sydney Smalley, Kaylee Mesker,
Alie Franson, Ellie Lynch, KatieRieselman, Kyra Anderson, Maya Geffrey,
Mia Vogel, Josie Thailand, NorahMorgan. The batters for the Little
Cyclones. Starting pitching matchup looks likethis. Lucy Porter, a sophomore,
getting the start for Fort Dodge. This is her twenty third start of the

(08:01):
year twenty fourth pitching appearance. Becausethe fourth most wins in a Class four

Her opponent's batting average is third bestin four A. Her whip is
second best in the class. Orderis allowed eighty three hits, thirty eight
runs, thirty four earned runs. She's walked thirty two batters, given up
two hit batters, and has onehundred forty eight strikeouts on the season,

(08:45):
and as a team, port Dodgecomes in most land the strength of the
porter's ability the top five in severalcategories in fact, fewest runs allowed,
fewest walks aloud, and the lowestwhip in Class four A, tied per
second in opponent's batting average and hits, and fifth in earned runs and ra
For Ames, the starting pitcher willbe Sydney Smally. She's making her twenty

(09:07):
first start of the season and twentyfifth pitching appearance. Overall, she has
an eleven and eight record for elevenwins, tied for eighth in Class five
A, and Josie Twin is alsopart of that group with eleven wins for
the Little Cyclones. Smalley with afour point two eight ERA in one hundred

(09:28):
eleven and a third innings pitch theseason, opponent's batting average of two sixty
one with a whip of one pointfive six. Smally has allowed ninety runs,
sixty eight of those earned. Shehas walked fifty five batters, hit
five batters, and has strung outstruck out sixty seven on the season.
So Sydney Smalley on the rubber forthe Little Cyclones. Lucy Porter the imposing

(09:52):
pitcher for Fort Dodge. I mentionedthe wild game for Ames their last time
Tuesday at Gilbert, with the LittleCyclones surging late to win by a score
of twelve to ten. Dodgers hada bit of an easier time of it
on Tuesday. They swept Waterloo Eastin a division matchup ten nothing and at

(10:16):
twelve nothing. The first game wasin five innings, in the second in
four, and it was a quarterwho threw a two hitter in the opener
of that double header struck out thirteenbatters for the Dodgers and I marked a
season high in case. Reporter Larawas the starting pitcher of the nightcap for

(10:41):
the Dodgers in their game against WaterlooEast and they're only allowed two hits in
the that nightcap as Dodgers. AsI mentioned, fourteen of sixteen fourteen wins
their last sixteen games, and nowfive straight wins for the Dodgers coming in
Ames riding a winning streak of threegames prior to the win at Gilbert.

(11:07):
Tuesday, Aimes swept a doubleheader atMason City by scores of twelve, three
and fifteen nothing and guess a teamthat has often given some Aimes some fits,
but a little Cyclones at a fairlyeasy time against the river Hawks on
the road on Monday. Coming upthe opening pitch between Aames and Fort Dodge.
This is a little Cyclone softball.A new Stalk fourteen thirty kasi Ames

(11:35):
and Fort Dodge are being introduced aswe get set for game one of this
double header that will determine the championsof the North Division of the Iowa Alliance
Conference. Both teams thirteen and one. The only losses they've taken in division
play have been against each other wasthat split at Fort Dodge back on June

(11:56):
twelve, in which Aims on theopener and or Dodge won the nightcap.
So each team just thirteen and justone loss in fourteen games, I should
say in division play. Coming intotonight's matchup, I mentioned with Aames coach

(12:18):
Megan van Baron in our pregame interviewwith two teams both adept at drawing walks
on the season. Aims coming intotonight is tied for fifth in Class five
A with a one hundred and fourwalks drawn and with the Dodgers, they've
drawn one hundred three walks on theseason. That's fourth best in Class four

(12:41):
A. Coming in and night. Some of the other offensive numbers, Aims
is top ten in Class five Ain hits and tied for seventh in home
runs, tied for fifth and walks. As I mentioned, sixth in the
strikeout six fewest strikeouts by the Amesline up in Class five at the season,
says the eighth best batting average inthe class, the sixth best on

(13:01):
base percentage, and the seventh bestslugging percentage on the year. For the
Dodgers, they're top ten in hitswith the two hundred and sixty eight it's
best for eight. They're good enoughfor eight in Class four A. They're
fifth in doubles. Make that triplesparty ten triples for the Dodgers and Fort

(13:22):
Dodge leading Class four A and hitby pitches with forty two. Dodgers ranked
ninth in four eight in batting average, tied for second and on base percentage
and tenth in slugging percentage. Andof course these two teams in different classes
after reclassification between last season and now, they're still in the same conference,

(13:48):
although both the changing conferences this season. With these two teams met in the
five eight Regional Championship last season upin Fourth Dodge. It was a three
one Dodgers win in that game tosend a Fort Dodge back to the state
tournament. And in that game,Jalen Adams, the senior at the time,

(14:11):
was the game winner. Aimes, the senior or last season Lexica Pasca
took the hard luck loss, scatteringthe three hits and four walks and giving
up three runs. None of thoseruns were earned. Adams in that game
last year just one run and earnedrun, one walk, one hit batter,
thirteen strikeouts to send Port Dodge backto the tournament. Both these two

(14:33):
teams make the tournament this year, will be in different classes. Aims trying
to make the tournament of the firsttime, they'd be in Class five A
and the Dodgers would be in Classfour A. If they can make a
return trip, I was gonna saya return trip to four Dodge, but
they'd be awfully close to home ifthey make it back to the state tournament
again this season. Sydney Smalley, the right hander, getting in her warmups

(14:56):
for the Little Cyclones, his aims, has taken the field now and preparing
for the top of the first KiraAnderson is her catcher, Maya Geffreys at
first, based Mea Vogel at second, Katie Reeselman at third. Ellie Lynch
is the short stop. Josie Tailandin left field. Alie Fransen is in
center. Kaylee Mesker is in rightfield. Aames wearing orange and black jerseys.

(15:20):
It's a orange at the top tenkind of bades to black at the
bottom of the black pants. Blackletters and numbers with orange trim for the
Little Cyclones. Dodgers wearing red jerseyswith black numbers and lettering for Dodged scripts
angled across the front, numbers onboth the front and back outline in white
black pants for the Dodgers. Herein game one, and we are just

(15:46):
about ready final huddle for the LittleCyclones around their starting pitchers Smalley and now
everybody ready to take their positions. As Mia mcaleb steps in for the Dodgers,
and we'll get Game one of thedouble header underway, and for michaeleb

(16:06):
Is, sophomore takes low for aball. Michaelob has a four the three
ten average, four eighty seven onbase percentage and a four h two slugging
percentage. She leads Class FOURI andhit by pitches. She's been plumped twelve
times this season. One oh pitchand that's a called strike on the inside
corner. Michaeleb has a discerning eye. She's tied for fifth in Class Fourian

(16:30):
walks with nineteen this season, twentyseven hits and eighty seven at bats for
the sophomore, five doubles and ahome run, twenty one RBIs as she
takes low for ball to two andone count to me and Michaelob opening things
up for the Dodgers in Game one. Baseball team also taking out four dodge

(16:56):
tonight double header across the way, pitching the dirt, so Michaelub three and
one count to the leadoff batter forthe Dodgers. Smalley Rocks back end delivers.
There's a liner right at Katie Reeselman, a third playing just to step

(17:17):
off the line makes the grab.Michaela made a solid contact there. Really
smashed that one, but it wasranked at Reeselman Maggie ells Becker Senior,
stepping in four of the Dodgers withone out in the first four h nine
average four eighty on base percentage foursixty six slugging percentage for ELL's Becker,

(17:41):
right handed batter takes outside for ballfrom Smalley. Thirty six and eighty eight
at bats for ELL's Becker, includingfive doubles twenty three RBIs on the season.
The one oh, it's up high. Alzbecker has drawn nine watch She's

(18:03):
been hit by pitch four times andit struck out seven times. Caleb we
just lined out the only Dodger indouble digit strikeouts with ten catch high from
Smalley as she falls behind Elsbecker threeand zero, one down and the first
base is empty for the Dodgers.Smally's three zero, it's right there for

(18:32):
strike one. Eighty seven degrees aswe get underway, feels like ninety three
and there's a noticeable amount of humidityin the air, occasional breeze blowing straight
in. Here's a flair and it'sjust over the outreached glove of Vogel at
second into the grass in short rightcenter. Masker gets it into Lynch at

(18:53):
second to hold Elsbecker to a singlefirst base runner of the game comes with
one out in the first Dodge andHope all Stott is the batter. All
Stot an eighth grader but outstanding numbersfor fifty seven average five twenty three out
base percentage and a five fifty fourslugging percentage. And she shows bunt and

(19:18):
gets it down. It's charged byresileman. She'll throw the first gets the
out there, Bogol moving over totake the throw. Els Becker moves up
to second on the sacrifice butt byall Stot. That is fifth sacrifice of

(19:41):
the season for all Stott. Withthe alera the batter with two out,
then a runner and it's going positionfor dodge for the Dodgers in the first
and the first pitch is in thedirt, knocked down by Anderson. El's
Becker took a step or two towardsthird, but then peeled back to second.

(20:02):
Three eleven average for Lara for tenon base percentage for eighty nine slight
percentage. Has the team lead inRBIs with thirty seven, which is sixth
best in Class four A. Thisseason, swinging a miss for strike one.
Lara has twenty eight hits and ninetyat bats, a couple of doubles,
one triple, four home runs, fourteen walks, seven strikeouts. On

(20:29):
one pitch that one's just off thecorner, two balls and strike El's Becker,
the runner at third, twelve fortwelve on so on base attempts this
season, and the pitch is justoff the plate. Inside ball three to

(20:52):
Lara, three and one count withCadence Tuney on deck, Elsbecker in a
deep crouch and second ready to go. Lara makes contact the pitch that one's
on the outside half of the playfor called strike and the county was full

(21:15):
to the Dodgers right heeler two down, runner on second and the Dodgers half
of the first. Here's the payoffpitch from Smally. It's chopped out in
front of home Place. Smally chargesit rose to first on target, forty
out and the went out single byElsbecker of no harm. She strided that

(21:37):
second after a half minute for Doddzero aims coming up. This is Little
cyclone softball. On News Talk fourteenthirty KSI order warming up for Fort Dodge,
the starting pitcher here in game onefor the Dodgers after her batters went

finish up with Johnston. Both thosegames at home on Wednesday, and the

(22:44):
first pitch the Aimes first is astrike on the outside corner to the left
handed batting Messker. The sophomore asa four to fifty five average five oh
eight on base percentage five oh nineat slugging percentage. The list this one
down the left line, moving overCadence Tuney into foul territory and the left
fielder makes the grab for the Dodgersone away in the game's first inning,

(23:12):
there's Alie France and the leaves thelittle cyclones of the four sixty seven batting
average. He carries an on basepercentage of four seventy nine and eighty nine
slugging percentage. Another left handed batterhere for Ames and she runs up on
the ball, slaps it, butit goes file back into the net.

(23:32):
Forty three hits and ninety two atbats for France, and the senior has
two doubles, eleven RBIs, twowalks and eight strikeouts. Is the old
one is that's outside. Elie Dosteris the catcher for the Dodgers. Macy

(23:52):
browns at first, Ashlen Wills atsecond base, me at, michaelab at
third, Hope Paul Stot is theshort stop. One one count to the
games center fielder Fransen and she takesa strike on the outside corner around the
outfield for the Dodgers. Cadence Tuney, as I mentioned in left, Maggie
Elsbecker is a center fielder. LydiaLera is in right field, playing short

(24:15):
right there with Brown at first, playing deeper than normal behind the bag.
With the left handed batter of theplate, there's a floater high off the
hand supporter tried to change speeds onFransen but lost the grip. The count
goes to two balls and two strikes. Orders pitch and it's just off the

(24:37):
outside corner. Dostar tried to turnthe glove frame it for the umpire,
but he didn't flinch, and thecount full to Franson with nobody on him
for Ames in the first one outand the pay off pitch is high,
but she would now she checked herswing port Dodge Watson appeal. They say
no. The field umpire says no, Franson, what about as far as

(24:59):
you can without getting run up there? I would say a pitch was well
out of the zone. Frans Andstands on first with one out and Ellie
Lynch the batter, keep an eyeon France and news twenty six or twenty
nine on still on base. Attemptsfirst pitch to Lynch is called a strike,

(25:22):
A quick throw or look at firstno throw by Doster, making sure
friends and retreats to the bag.Lynch four thirty eight batting average as fourth
Dodge coach. Andrew Adams comes outof the dugout and gets a well end
field together here to talk things over. In the pitcher circle. Winch with
the four thirty eight average five eightyone on base percentage, which is sixth

(25:45):
best in Class five A, nineh six slugging percentage that's fifth best in
the class. On the season, twenty eight hits for Lynch in sixty four

(26:07):
Winch He's been hit by a pitcheight times, it's hide for the
fourth most of Class five A.She also has seven strikeouts on the season.
Lynch bats heerra one strike count againstyour Alie France and the runner at
first with one out frames in thebottom of the first hitting zero zero ball
game which out back to the dugouton the fourth dodge side. Lynch right
handed batter, digging back end porter. The right handed pitcher delivers a bunt

(26:30):
attempt and it's followed into the midof the catcher throw it down to second
is France and stop went about halfwaydown and stopped. Drew the throw was
trying to draw a throw over tofirst, but Wills didn't pull the trigger.
Franson retreats the first base bag twostrike count to Lynch with the runner
still at first, Porter leans androcks back end delivers there's a grounder back

(26:56):
to Lynch to turn it and throwit a second one hopper. Willis picks
it nicely to get the out atfirst. No chance had a double play,
but credit Wheels there with helping outher picture and making a nice scoop
on a low throw to retire Franceat second on the fielder's choice. So

(27:22):
Lynch now stands on first and KatieReeselman baths and she's won high in the
air left center field. This oneis back and it is off the fence
and coming around to score will beLynch and she races in on the RBI
double by Reeselman that would hit thefence about halfway up on the fly,

(27:45):
and Reeselman drives in the first runof the game. Lynch scores on the
two bagger and credit to Reeselman withher twenty third RBI of the season,
her twelfth double. Let's team highfor the Little Cyclones. Aims up one

(28:07):
nothing with the runner in scoring position. Kyra Anderson the batter and takes low
four ball two fifty average for Andersonthree nineteen on based percentage and a four
hundred slugging percentage. The one zeroand it's hit high in the air behind
home plate, but that's gonna goover everybody's head out of play when he

(28:32):
hits. And eighty at bats forAnderson, who's got three doubles and three
home runs, thirteen RBIs, ninewalks and eight strikeouts. One ball,
one strike count to Anderson with Anamesup a run in the first, there's
a strike out half the plate importera strike away from ending the inning and

(28:56):
holding games to a run. Oneball, two strike delivery taped to the
right side. Wills charges it andhandles it clean. Lea throws the first
to get the out, but KatieReeselman's RBI double gives Aims in early lead
Little Cyclones lead Fort Dodge one nothingafter one inning. This is Aames high
softball on new stock fourteen thirty ks I early lead, Fort Dodge trailing

(29:22):
one nothing. Here at the LittleCyclones home Diamond Dodgers will have Cadence Tuney,
Mackenzie, mackol Rath and Macy Browndo up here five six and seven
batters to face Sidney Smaly, whogave up a one out single and the
first but to get the next twobatters one on a sacrifice one on brought
her out in front of home platethat this morning was able to handle herself

(29:44):
to get the out. So seeif the Little Cyclones can maintain this lead.
These two teams met in Fort Dodgeon the twelfth of June. Ames
won the opener of that one bya one nothing score. Tuny a sophomore,
matting three sixty five, forty onbase percentage five hundred slugging percentage on

(30:07):
the season, and she takes astrike on the inside corner from Smalley.
Thirty five hits for Tuning in ninetysix at bats, four doubles, three
triples, one home run, andthirty two RBIs swinging in a miss a
little fastball from Smalley to get aheadowned two. Tuny has walked eleven times

(30:33):
and it struck out thirteen times,no walls and two strikes. It will
change a speed rolled towards short Lynchto her right, throws high over the
head of Geffrey, and that willgo out of play, allowing Tuney to
reach second, calling an infield hit. Plus an air unofficially on that play,

(31:00):
yeah, and the Dodgers get torun it a second base right away
into second a for McKenzie. MacaelWrath, the junior with three fourteen average
for twenty nine at base percentage.Any three seventy one slugging percentage can tie
this game up. The base hitfollows it into the net on the first

(31:22):
offering from Smalley. Eleven hits andthirty five at bats for Macael Wrath,
getting her sixteenth start of the season, couple of doubles for only extra base
hit to nine RBIs, four walks, one strikeout, open stands for Macaelrath
closes it off as a pitch delivered. She flares this one in the air
and it's gonna hang up for Bogelthe second basement frame under it to make

(31:45):
grab one away. Tony returns tosecond. Macy Brown, the vat or
a junior right hander three nineteen average, three eight two on base percentage in
the three nineteen slugging percentage, Alltwenty two of her hits the season and
sixty nine ifts have been singles, makes the first pitch from Smalley for ball

(32:10):
one eleven RBIs for Brown on theseason with five walks, six strikeouts,
and Smally delivers ball to fall behindtwo and o one nothing Aimes lead in

(32:35):
the second. One away is theDodgers bat with a runner on second,
and there's a close pitch from Smalleythat just misses the strike zone from ball
three, and here comes Aimes coachMegan von Baron out of the dugout.
She'll get the infield together along withSmalley center of the pitching circle. Coach

(32:59):
von Baron, assistant by Tom Lynch, who's the first base coach. Amanda
Langmaid also on the staff or Dodgecoach Andrew Adams, assisted by Tom mccleman,
Aaron Miller, and Nicholas Vincent. So these two teams coming in tied
at the top of the standings meansthat sweep would win whichever team records those

(33:23):
wins an outright Division title. Asplit would mean a shared title between the
two teams. Three balls, nostrikes to Brown with the runner on second,
one out in the second. Smally'sback on the rubber and delivers.

(33:45):
She brings it a high for ballfour. Brown was the first walk allowed
by Smalley. Two runners on forthe Dodgers. And Ellie Doster, the
bat or the catcher for the Dodgers. She's an eighth grader. He has

(34:05):
a two sixty nine batting average, three seventy on base percentage and three seventy
two slugging percentage, and Doster, showing bunt, pulls it back as the
pitch is in there for a strike. Doster squaring around early aims bringing the

(34:30):
corner infielders in and the middle infielderscovering first and third. Oh one.
Doster not showing abut this time, takes a ball and as account goes to
one and one, Doster does nothave a sacrifice bunt this season. Here's

(34:55):
the one one and it's lined downthe right field line in atlant it's in
fair territory. Rolls into the cornertuney around third. She will score.

at third. This will be mayMeyer taking over there or Macy Brown.

(36:14):
I'm gonna curtisy runner and second pinchrunner at third. The game tied at

Coach Gorman, coach selling with thegirls fans down is the only boys basketball

She represents the go ahead run withtwo outs in the third four the Little

point would not let me be outin the heat too much, so I
had to miss a lot of thebaseball softball season, but got in on
most of the other sports that wedo. But I always look forward to

watch these teams. These may befall tips, strike three off the bat

(01:02:59):
of Anderson got by the catcher Dosterfor the first out of the games fourth.
These maybe two of the best teamsI've seen in all these years.
I mean, we've seen some goodbuys, but these two teams have been
impressive. I'm talking baseball softball teamsbeen impressive this year. The softball team

(01:03:20):
has already matched the twenty two wintotal they enjoyed last season. Swinging a
foul off the bat of Geffrey. And you talk about these new facilities,
I probably wouldn't have said it atthe time, but I think the old
baseball and soft off facilities were theonly facilities that would consider subpar compared to
many other schools in the area.Which is a load of Geffrey. But

(01:03:44):
there's there's a place in my heartfor a smalling field, of course,
of course, and there's yeah, some sentimental value, there's. But also
we were sitting in a light standarddown baseline, not the greatest sightline.
One one pitch inside almost stick Jeffrey, two balls and a strike. Well,
I always think back to when Idid an Iowa State baseball game.
They used to have a team.I don't know whether you knew that or
not. I heard that, yeah, yeah, and uh me and Darth

Danielson sitting inside a cardboard box twoand one and that catches the outside corner
and it was raining. That soundsjust delightful. Luckily they didn't rain hard
enough to make the cardboard and saggy. But two balls, two strikes to

and just out of play beyond theAmes dugout these these facilities here for for
our perspective, for our purposes.I don't think he can do much better.
Football for me, as long asI've been here has always been great.
Basketball has always been great. They'vealways set me up courtside where there

(01:04:49):
was the old gym and now thenew gym. Yea. And for as
a guy who wanted to, youknow, be a broadcaster as a follow
ball by Jeffrey. So from mypoint of view, you can't do much
better. I mean, there areschools that do have bigger, newer facilities,
but what AIMES has done to helpus out, then that relationship with

(01:05:14):
the station and the school goes backso far. But they're always thinking about
us. It's a pitch out ofits kind of slipped as you tried to
think of change up there, andit dress away over. Dostar said for
ball three, as when when theybuilt this facility, when they built a
new high school, death flight directorsor we're good enough to work with us

serving the community. And remind mewho was that letic director before you?

(01:10:25):
Well, it was a revolving door. My ball to left a few steps
two of the left, Tony,Tony part of the left fielder puts that
away for the out. I wasa fourth ad in six years when they
asked me to consider it, andso as Pat HIDERSCHEI for one year.
Yeah, Bud leg for two yearsbefore that, and then Dave Posgate.
I was trying to remember Dave andI remember Budd of course, Yeah,

(01:10:48):
who moved on to bigger I don'twant to say better, but bigger things.
Norah Morgan, Battle went out,the base is empty. She takes
inside for a Yeah. The otherthing I remember about Bud the most is
he threw me out of the SPOSHfootball games. Oh yeah, good.
Yeah, but it's a walking encyclopediaof Iowa high school athletics. Boy,
he is a great resource. Iwant to go to Morgan and she follows

(01:11:11):
that back to the net. Youyou were always a great resource for us,
Judge. I knew, well, anytime I came out to a game,
I knew I was going to betaken care of. Uh. Well,
we we value you guys. Andwhat you're doing is covering, uh
you know, youth athletics and highschool sports for this community. And you
know you provide a great service. One one delivery swung on and missed.
You know, the grandparents that can'tget there and the people that are stuck

(01:11:33):
at work at the end of theday. The road trips to Sue city
trips and all over the state.Uh following us and allowed our community to
stay in touch with our athletic programs. Or remind me of some of those
road trips. There's the one twoswung on and missed as Morkan strikes out.
Two outs in the games half ofthe fifth. You've had a certain
effection for Sue City. I don'tknow what the deal with. Well,

(01:11:56):
they're in Council Bluffs, they're outtheir favorite places. Yeah, they're out
there on an island. Those schools, there's just not enough of them out
there to form a conference, sothe Central ILEAH schools have to go save
them every once in a while tofill their schedules. Two outs in the
games half of the fifth tied beforeDodge at one and the top of the
order here for Ames and Kaylee Meskerwho takes a strike. Jed, You've
got to take great pride and Iknow you wouldn't take full credit, but

(01:12:18):
I don't give it to you anywayfor the changes that were implemented during your
tenure as the athletic director well nineteenyears. You know, it was a
lot of moving and shaking and provingthe facilities and you know, positioning our
teams to be competitive and trying tohire the right coaches. And you know,
my last head coaching hire was Meganvon Baron before I retired you know

(01:12:42):
a couple of years ago, andso good job she's doing it. Really
good work out. Okay, yeah, her and Tom Lanche and the crew,
they've done a great job of gettingthis program competitive. Oh two pitches
high, one ball, two strikesto Mesker, Well, I want everybody
to know I'm still I have thepetition out to name the new restrooms at
the gym after you. Thank you. Yeah, I haven't had much I'm

(01:13:04):
excited about that can be too excited. One ball, two strikes pop up
in Fall Territory, third base side, the catcher Dobster making the catch on
the run near the wall on thethird base side that will end at the
Aims. Half of the fifth andafter five innings, a little Cyclones tied
with Fort Dodge at one. Thisis AIMES high softball and new Stock fourteen
thirty Kasi the first sitting. Aimsand Fort Dodge tied at one in the

(01:13:30):
first half of a double header todetermine the North Division champion out of the
Iowa Alliance Conference. Dave Farlo withMel Crippen, joined by former Ames Athletics
director Judge Johnston, is hope allstart all stop. Pardon me, We'll
start things off with the Dodgers inthe six called by Lydia Lara and the
Cadence tuney kind of maybe a gategate open down there, a ball out

(01:13:55):
there from the bullpen, but no, the guy's is both baseball soft off
great seasons. I think the newconferences has helped them. The competitive night
in, the night out and sothe reefing the rewards of that first specially
the inning from Sydney Smalley is calleda ball to sent some great coaching right
now. Yeah, all stop withoutan official at bat yet walked in the

(01:14:19):
third and sacrifice brought in the firstand she takes strike one. We're talking
about the facilities, you know, last half inning, and I gotta commend
you and and Lyle both because goingthrough the change in building this facility of
the new gym as well, itwas it was great that I was consulting

(01:14:41):
a little bit and you ransom thoseplans by me and we I was able
to give you some feedback and youknowing I'm a bit of a diva and
that I was certain expectations, butyou were great to work with and make
sure that you were taking care ofas well as everybody else in these new
facilities, sharp grounder to third reslmanhandles a short hop and throws across in
plenty of time for the outrun away. Well, that goes back to our
you know, our respect and thenour the value of what you guys do

(01:15:04):
and your profession and you know, covering high school sports. A lot of
schools don't have a local radio stationto cover um the athletes and the coaches
and and all the successes that theyhave. But uh no, that's been
it's been a great relationship, andyou know, really proud of KSI and
your guys and the homework you dofor our games and our events, and

(01:15:25):
the way you treat our coaches andrespect them at times. Fly ball off
the bat of the Larra, longrun for the short center fielder Alie France
and coming in makes the catch inshort right center France and showing off those
states that championship wheels right there, the two time state track champion this spring.
Well, I just keeping and Dave'sinput on on the facilities, et

(01:15:46):
cetera, and they still came outpretty good. Yeah, yeah, we
did well. And Lyle's taken on, you know, speak of the devil,
Speak of the devil, he's here, he's lurking. He's can sell
in the conference that you can't havehair and be an athletic corrector. Um

(01:16:08):
justin names, just the names, yeah, the name. One ball do
strikes to Kadence Tuney with two downin the port Dadge half of the six
game tied at one player down theright field line. Long run for everybody.
Vogel Luna can't make the grab infall territory. Well that's what I
remember about you in our relationship, teasing me about my hair, and I've
teased you about yours and the samebarbers and you know, yeah, all

(01:16:30):
that goes way back. Yeah,Eddie Barber, we'd have it to go
broke, I tell you that. But you had money. You went for
the Corduba Shine Shine a ball andit strike to Tuny and she takes high
for a ball too. You know, one Dave, You know just the
times that you have to interview coachesafter tough losses and big wins, and

(01:16:51):
you've been so respectful and maintained yourprofessionalism and distance and give gave them time
to catch their breath after a bigwin or loss. And um, there's
a groundball sharply hit to the rightside and Tuney will reach on a single.
Nesker took a shot from right field, but not in time to get
the out at first. So Tuneywith the first hit for for dodge since

(01:17:15):
the fourth inning and comes to twoouts here in the sixth, you know,
and that's a credit to you,Dave, just trying to do do
the job professionally the way you've doneit. And you know, the great
relationship our coaches, and they speakhighly of you, you know, and
how you treat them. And soKenzie Macilwrath takes ball one, throw it
on the first, Tuny is backin time. Well, I'll turn that

(01:17:35):
right back around. Every coach I'vedealt with has been extremely professional, and
even when I might flob a questionor two or you know, not not
quite get the words right, theyhandle themselves so well. And what really
impresses me about high school coaches ingeneral, as Macareth follows it off,
and you know, we've talked tomany on our sports showcase all around Story
County as well as here at names, and I don't think we've had a

(01:17:57):
bad experience with any other. Theyjust love talking about their kids. It's
a winner lose no matter what therecord is. They love talking about the
kids on their team, and notjust what kind of athletes they are,
but what kind of people they are. Yeah, there's a swinging a bouncer
up the third baseline, handled bya Reeslman for across in time for the
out. The two out hit doesno harm. After five and a half,
aames In four Dodge tied at one. This is a Little Cyclone softball

(01:18:18):
a news Talk fourteen thirty k sI. We are still tied at one
aames In four Dodge in game oneof this doubleheader, even at a run
apiece. As the Little Cyclones comingto bat in the bottom of the six
Alie Franson, Ellie Lynch, KatieReeselman two three and four batters for the
Little Cyclones coming up here to faceLucy Porter and the great opportunity here for

(01:18:41):
Hims to try to move ahead. Here's a bun attempt by Franson, but
michaelob charging from third handles it verywell. It throws the first for the
out. A little too hard.A little too hard, you got too
much distance on it. Gave hima chance to make the play. But
we're joined here by former Eames directorJudge Johnston. Any retirement advice for the

(01:19:03):
old timer here. I mean, you retired from Aames a few years back,
but he went right back to work. Yeah, he didn't retire.
He's still serving the community in somany great ways. Yeah, I'm enjoying
working for the Boys and Girls Cluband you know, raising money for that
club and the kids and the newedition that we're going to do. And
he's the perfect fit. He wasthe perfect fit. Ellie Lynch flies one

(01:19:24):
to center, drifting back is EllsBecker and she tumbles but makes the catch,
got turned around and at the lastsecond this world to her right and
went to the turf to make sureshe secured the grab. But that will
go down his out number two asElls Becker was able to track it and
catch it. You know, Imissed the events at Aames High, but

(01:19:45):
more importantly, I missed the relationshipsthat we formed with the athletes and the
coaches, some of the behind thescene stories that the public didn't know about,
success stories, things like that, but the relationship smell. I think
you've created so many in this community, and you know, you're you're a
legend, and you know what, there's people talking about you as you approach
retirements and what you've done for thiscommunity and given back to help and especially

(01:20:09):
the nonprofit world. That's a bigpart of your um. You know you're
doings and you know we need thatsupport. I know I'm humbled, but
I really am eighty Reslman batting twoand old pitches on the outside corner.
I said, I think this amillion times in the last few weeks.
Is I will never ever be ableto repay the debt to this community that

(01:20:31):
it's given me. Uh yeah,it's it's never even the biggest thing is
given me as happy here, andI've been happy ever since I've lived here.
Yeah, and we'll continue to beso. Three balls and a strike
to reslemand with two outs of thegame six tied at one with fort Dodge,
its reporter is ball four. Itwas up and end a Resleman.

(01:20:55):
It turns away and she'll head downto first on the walk to base run
for the little Cyclones in the sixth. Well, so you're gonna sleep in
a little bit now in retirement. You know, I've been trying to.
I just uh, I was gettingup a couple of days. I tricks
in vacation in here and I'm tryingto act on eight. Yeah. I
told my wife I almost stay uplate and then go in. Maybe I'll
sleep later. Yeah, sure enough, I would sleep till seven o'clock.

(01:21:16):
Wow. And she said, yeah, but you hadn't been coming to bed
until three first year at that time. Yeah, exactly right. Ireland Bust
will come on as a pinch runnerat first, running for Reeselmen Bus with
their left thumb and a brace. There after an injury about a month ago

(01:21:36):
or so that took her out ofany chance of playing the field or batting
for the rest of the season. But you can run. And she stands
at first with two down Ames andfour Dodge tied at one with Kyra Anderson
batting, and the first pitch Porterand Anderson is at the outside corner and
throw down to second down in timeas Bus takes off on the first pitch

(01:22:00):
to steal second. Boy. Everypitch, every out getting down to you
know, two innings left and anythere. It's it's getting down to a
game of inches here. And um, you know Andy Adams a long time
Fort Dodge successful coach there and alwayshas the softball program at the top of
the conference. And um, greatnight look at the crowd, you know,

(01:22:20):
and the pitch was called a ballby the way bus stealing second the
one, oh delivery fouled back. How dare you interrupted? No? And
I agree, this is this isthe game you want. This is absolutely
the perfect example of the best playedsoftball right now. One at one ball

(01:22:41):
game in the bottom of the sixteams has two ounce but a run around.
Second, here's a drive but fouldown the third baseline. It was
hit well and good high in theair by Anderson to yank that one out
of play, and one and twogoes the count. Well, if you
can win this first one that there'sa lot of pressure on Fort Dodge to
try the salvage a split and ashare of the conference title. So one

(01:23:01):
two pitch up high, Oster comingout of her cross ready to throw his
bus dances a right half second.Oh, judge, we really appreciate it.
Stoping by. It's great to beable to talk to you again.
It's good to know, and we'llwe'll all still be in the community here
and even after tomorrow when her timeon the radio comes to an end.
Here's a follow by Anderson out ofplay. But you've made life so much

(01:23:23):
easier for me than it otherwise couldhave been through the years, and my
tremendous and eternal gratitude to you andeverybody at a Eames High who made that
possible. Well, thank you, guys, it's been a pleasure. Enjoy
the rest of this evening. Hopefullywe'll get a couple of wins. Looks
like baseball's in a tight game overthere. They're leading one oh. Late
in that game, there's another longfoul ball here, but they wait,

(01:23:43):
who's the play by player? Iknow, I gotta get out stepping on
my I just gotta say it thisway. You don't have the best part
of this whole thing. I justnever looked at him. It's the app
played eight director, just a friend. It would always be that way,
my friend. Yeah. Well, one last thank you, Ian Smith,
the athletic director Affic Colberts. Iwanted to pass along his thanks and support
to you guys, as you guysknow you worked a lot with him and

(01:24:04):
during my tenure and setting up andaccess to coaches and the facility and all
that, and so Ian's doing agreat job up there leading the Gilbert Tigers,
and uh so he wanted to passalong to thank you as well.
Good job guys. You know whatI have you gotten the right since he
left. There's the two two pitchto Anderson. It's way up high.

(01:24:25):
Bus with a good read on thatone and heads down to third. Dostar
was able to catch that ball, but it floated so high. Bus got
a great recognition on that. Tookoff her third before the ball even got
to Doster, and takes third easilyon. You wouldn't even put that down
as a wild pitch or pass. It's a full count now and a bouncer
foul off the third base line asAnderson nearly knocked out her coach down there.

(01:24:49):
Oh give it, Andrew, giveBus a stolen base to get out
the third a well stolen base. You're right, Dave. That was all
on Bus. So she stands onthird, representing to go ahead run.
With a full count to Anderson andtwo outs in the bottom of the six,
the payoff pitch called strike three isthat one poured over the outside half

(01:25:10):
of the play. Anderson down looking, Porter gets a huge strikeout to strand
the runner at third, and aftersix innings, Aims and fourth Dodge still
tied at one. This is littlecyclone softball on News Talk fourteen thirty Ka
Siven four Dodge tied at one herein the division finale, conference finale for

(01:25:32):
both teams, regular season finale forAims. Dodgers have actually four more non
conference games, including tomorrow in anevent held by Dallas Centered Rhymes. Macy
Brown just started off with the Dodgers. Ellie Dobster, Ashland, Wales the
bottom third of the fourth Dodge lineup, facing game for righthander Sydney Smalley,
who's gone the distance so far forthe Little Cyclones. Just one run,

(01:25:54):
allowed, one strikeout, five hitsand two walks for Smally here in the
opener of this double header. Okay, David, just it just rings to
me, of course, as buswas on base, and how we have
watched a lot of these young ladiesgrow up in this community going before softball.

(01:26:15):
First pitch of the seventh is astrike to Brown, who put down
a sacrifice bunt and the fourth walkedin. The second right handed battered digs
in against the right hander Smalley. One pitch bounced towards short Lynch charges up
with it, throws on target oneaway. In the top of the seventh,

(01:26:35):
the aamsized Softball is brought to youby CNK Heating and Cooling. Seeing

If your business with one simple model, keep comfort simple, call three

the many many sponsors we've had overthe years of Aames High Athletics. We

(01:26:58):
need say thanks to them for beingsupportive of their community and the young people
in it. Ellie Doster stepping intakes ball one from Smalley Donster one for
two, about to write in thefourth, doubled in a run in the
second. The only run for theDodgers Ames lone run came back in the
first inning one O delivery is lowfor a ball two and O two Doster.

(01:27:26):
The Ams will wrap up the regularseason tonight and then host Waterloo West
open the postseason. That'll be nextSaturday, the eighth of July seven o'clock
game. Here's a line shot pastVogel and then right center Masker over to
cut it off and get it backto the infield. Doster with a hit
the sixth of the game, forfort Dodge. It comes with one out
in the seven Vogel. It's goingto make a shot at that, but

(01:27:50):
just couldn't get positioned correctly. Curseyour runner. Maddie host Shaw takes over
at first for the catcher Doster Andwe mentioned earlier Anchory Centennial A is the
top seed in Class five A Regionfour. They'll play either De Moine East
or Des Moines North on Saturday ofnext week, and then the winners between

(01:28:14):
those games will play at the highestremaining seed, actually highest remaining ranked team.
As a quick fake bunt from Will, she pulled it back quickly and
takes high for a ball. Sowhat that means is, actually it's not
the highest seed that hosts the championshipgame in the region. It's the highest
ranked team and the class rankings thatwill come from the IOW Girls High School

(01:28:36):
Athletic Union and those final rankings forfive A will come out on Monday.
But up the first baseline, itis gloved by the first baseman, Geffrey
charging in, turns and fires tovocal covering. I throw to second.
Hosha dives back in. She'd actuallypast second, yeah, not about third,
but to quickly change her mind willswith the sacrifice bunt puts the go

(01:28:57):
ahead run into scoring position. Wellplayed on all matters. The bunt was
well laid and well played the firstbase, holding them runner at second.
Two outs in the seventh and Miyamchalb the batter for the Dodgers, trying
to what Fort Dodge in front forthe first time, and she takes a
strike. The Caleb, the leadoffbatter for the Dodgers, over three two

(01:29:20):
lineouts, one to shortstop and oneto third base, and a fly out
to center. One strike. CountSmalley rocks back and delivers grounder deep in
the hole. It's short loved byLynch throw the first just in time to
end the inning. The runner isstranded at second. We go to the
bottom of the seventh with Anes andFort Dodge tied at one. This is

(01:29:42):
Little Cyclone Softball on News Talk fourteenthirty Kasi walking off the win and the
opener of this doubleheader with Fort Dodge. Mea mcchayle, excuse me, it's
Maya Geffrey, Mia Vogel, JosieThailand. The batters just our things off
for aims. In the bottom ofthe seventh tide with the Dodgers at one

(01:30:03):
apiece and the first pitch to Geoffreyis off the inside Cornerball one. Geoffrey
over two fall out to the firstbaseman Brown in the fourth, and a
ground out to the third baseman, michaelob in the second. Here's the one.
Oh, it's wing on lifted inthe air towards Michaelob at thirty,

(01:30:24):
stands on the bag and makes thecatch for the out. Well day,
this is the first class game.I think this is one of the better
softball games I've witnessed in all theseyears. That it's just well played.
As you say, one error earlyon in the game, and just watching
these young ladies move has moved me. Here's me a Vogel takes a ball

(01:30:50):
just off the plate. Vogel overtwo popped out to Wills at second base
in the fourth struggle looking in thesecond one Old from porter inside ball too.
I find it interesting, though, that neither team is scored since you
showed up, I mean, yougot missed all you are you implying something

(01:31:13):
just saying it's oi. Willans isup to batman two Old delivery off the
plate outside for ball three. Now, could you use a base runner?
Orders walked three so far, deliversthe obligatory fastball down the middle stripe one

(01:31:34):
on the call, but a bitof a late motion. He calls out
the the strike right away, buthis mechanics are a little delayed. Pitches
low called strike. M hmm, full count of Vogel with one out,

(01:31:54):
nobody on frames in the tie game. Yea, I'll pitch and it's off.
The play ball for Vogel draws awalk, so he represents the winning
runs standing at first with one outin the seventh, don't see, but
yeah, we're gonna see a pitchrunner for Vogel and I'll say, well,

(01:32:15):
it's fast, but I think MeredithFranson will be the pinch runner at
first, may have a little morespeed. Andrea Adams, the Fort Dodge
coach, out to the pitching circleto get the whole infield together here to
talk things over aimes with a runaround first. The game tied at one,
one out in the bottom of theseventh. Theames High Softball is brought
to you by Mormon Clothier's shop LuluLemon Summer arrivals with new styles in store

(01:32:38):
every week at Mormon Clothier's Downtown Aimslooks like I've got a final in Game
one over the baseball Diamond, LittleCyclones a one nothing victory there, all
right, their first game against FortDodge tonight and the Aimes baseball squad.
It's gonna open up postseason play nextFriday in the sub state first round.

(01:32:59):
Aimes is the two seed in Substateone. On the baseball side, they
will host the five seed Waterloo EastAncy A Centennial is a top seed there,
so both the sub state and thebaseball side and the regional and the
softball side, Aims and Ankney Centennialin the same bracket. Centennials a top
seed in both cases. The BoyRoosevelt and Port Dodds the other game in
the sub state number one next Fridaynight. But this pretty cool at Aims

(01:33:25):
will host both the baseball and softballfirst round postseason games. In the air
off, the bat of Thailand caughtby the pitcher Porter charging in from the
center circle and France and could readit first to get back to the bag
and avoid a double play. Nowtwo down after the Thailand pop out,
just a really bad bun, There'sno other way to put it. Came
off the top of the bat, just a short pop fly and the picture.

(01:33:49):
Well, it's up to Norah Morganwith the runner and first in a
tie game, and first swinging twowaves at the fastball from Porter. Thinks
she put up a desk debls swungso hard there, but work in with
two strikeouts batting out of the nineslot here in the game one the O

(01:34:13):
one delivery going on and miss striketwo, order strike away from sending this
one to extra innings. She's hungry, he's hungry. She wants to make
that hit and she's really swinging hard. Here's the O two sit in the
air behind home, played out ofplay. I don't know, Dave.

(01:34:41):
Like we say, there are timesyou say, oh, no extra innings.
In this particular case, this gamehas been so entertaining. Well let's
keep it going. Another row twoto mark in off the end of her
bat flared in her right center.Moving over is Lara. She makes the
grab that is the innings, sowe'll head to extras. After seven names
and Fort Dodge tied at one. That's a little cyclone softball on new Stock

(01:35:10):
Smalley continues on the rubber for thelittle cyclone and deliver strike one to Maggie
Elsbecker, number two batter in thefourth Dodge lineup. She's followed by Hope
all Stot and Lydia Lera. Aswe head to the eighth and a dribble
up the third base line, Reeselmanwaits for it, loves it, and
throws across with the out. Reeselmanrocks solid at third base tonight one away

(01:35:34):
at the top of the eighth. Here's Hope all Stott, who's over one.
I'll style with the ground out toReeselman in the sixth. She has
also walked and put down a sacrificemount here in the opener of this twin
Bill Smallwy's pitch m low, lowstrike, strike corner. I like a

(01:36:00):
little strike better no strike. Yeah, when Aames is pitching, you know,
yeah, yeah, exactly. Oh. In one count to all Stop
and he was like straight away centerline shot for a hit. All Stop
reaches with one away seventh hit forthe Dodgers, and he represents the go

(01:36:21):
ahead run for Fort Dodge ends atfirst. Lydia Lara, the batter right
fielder for the Dodgers, all outto center in the sixth grounded into a
four six three double play in thethird and grounded out to the pitcher smally
in the first inning, game tiedat one. That's that's just the opening

(01:36:44):
act another and oh bunch showing buntbut pulled it back as the pitch was
high. Just want to move thoserunners into a scoring position at the time
out here as the four Dodge headcoach Andrea Adams calls over for base runners
and her first base coach the secondtime in the game. We've seen this

(01:37:08):
kind of rare to see the coachof the team that's batting all for a
time out and then initiate a conference. Teams in field also conferencing amongst themselves
in the pitching circle, so it'sinteresting. Games will have kind of a

(01:37:29):
long layoff between tonight's games in thepostseason and four Dodds. They've got the
two games tomorrow at DCG, thenthey have two home games Monday and Wednesday
of next week, so not muchof a holiday break, I guess.
For the Independence Day in four Dodge, the Dodgers playing Dallas Center Grimes in
Norwalk tomorrow at DCG, then theyhost Waukee on Monday of next week,

(01:37:53):
and then hosting Johnston on Wednesday. Some tough non conference goals there for the
Dodgers. Surround up up the regularseason. Here's Lara pulling the back backs
laps up the first base line.It gets under Geffrey, but behind her
Vogel, the second baseman picks itup and takes it to the bag to
get the out. That was wellplayed. Good back up there, obviously

(01:38:15):
to the runner Gordon going towards second. The short stop moved over to make
the play there should there have beenone, but Vogel just made the perfect
play in backing up first base. All stop moves up to second with two
away in the eighth, and CadenceTuney, the batter backing in the five
slots, singled her last time upin the sixth, also got to hit
in the second, rounded out toVogel a second. In the fourth,

(01:38:40):
she takes a strike on the outsidecorner from Smalley. The runner is should
making a mad dash. They're almosthalfway down to third base, so every
intention all stot in scoring position withtwo down, anything to the outfield will
likely score if it gets down. He's pitching the dirt nice by Anderson going
down to both knees to stop thatone and all Stot has to retreat the

(01:39:03):
second Anderson watching all that, saying, hey, I may have a play
at second there, but you youkind of hate to throw behind a runner
A ball and a strike to Tuney. Bitch that's low two and one counts

(01:39:27):

to get the out that will retirethe side. All Stot stranded, and
after seven and a half innings,Aims and four Dodge remained tied at one.

chemo or radiation in extra innings,Aims and four Dodge side at one extra
inning. I guess we're in ourfirst extra inning, well, and you
kind of like coming into it notbeing down one. Gailey Mesker, starting
off the bottom of the eighth, look at the bunch, puts it in
the air to diving effort quarter withthe grab, the pitcher diving onto the

(01:40:12):
first baseline to grab the bunnet tappedoff the bat of Mesker, you're talking
about going all out supporter. Yeah, you can pick up a little dirt
there. You're gonna wipe herself off. But I will tell you maybe the
one thing at least a couple oftimes tonight names could work on is bump.
It's a second fun attempt that hasresulted in a PopOut this one.

(01:40:34):
I knew that he just trying toget on base. I knew coach had
told her to bunt. You couldjust tell by the look in her face.
Here's Ali Franson with one away ina tie game, and she takes
low four ball one Franson over twoof the walk. That almost looked like
the old style running swing there.I haven't seen that for a long time,
but you have been out too manygames, because that's pretty does on

(01:40:56):
every pitch one oh, and sheslaps out on all onto the net.
That'll teach me. I was watchingthe games high team come off the field
the last time. The adrenaline flowingthose kids right now, it's just beyond
description. Pomping, popping, yelling, screaming. One ball, one strike

(01:41:17):
to Franson and she slaps this oneback to the net behind home plate before
strike two. I'm not opposed tothe running swing, but it works well
for France, and she has donea tremendous job this season of just placing
balls around the infield or short inthe outfield, just in areas where the
defenders can't get to it. Here'sthe one to miss, daven a bad

(01:41:39):
bunny. He was a good pitch, was bad swing. Franson down swinging.
That is the seventh strikeout for Porter. Two outs in the games,
half of the eighth with Ellie Lynchthe batter. Lynch one for three.
She tripled in the third, reachedout a fielder's choice in the first with
flow out the center her last timeup. That came in the six,

(01:42:00):
still tied at one, and thepitch in the dirt well in front of
home plate. She's well capable ofbending this game just with one swing.
She has that kind of power.Nch, with eight home runs on the
season, leads the little Cyclones. There's the one zero and it's hit in

(01:42:23):
the air behind home plate. That'sgonna go over the net ball ball strike
one. So the sky is incrediblein the difference between now and this morning,
we got a crystal clear blue sky. We had all that haze this
morning that was no fun to lookat. Here's a foul ball out of

(01:42:45):
play out the battle Lynch, andI was worried actually at one point that
they might have to call bone oreven cancel these games because of the air
quality. There's still an air qualitywarning and effect. But you look around
and you'd think this was kind ofa normal sturday. The chimes Lynch takes
porter trying to throw the change upand it slipped out of her hand.
The count goes to two and two, and of course it was very difficult.

(01:43:08):
As I mentioned, the Dodgers havetwo games tomorrow, Monday and Wednesday
next week, would be very difficultto get a makeup game. There's a
ball to Lynch to fill the counttoo out nobody on for ames in the
eighth Tide at one. There havebeen lots of events canceled because of the
air quality, that is for sure. But off pitch foul pulled down the

(01:43:30):
left field line and an old goatlike knees kind of stayed in the last
two days. I got chewed out. I was trying to work on the
yard a little bit yesterday and yeah, what are you doing now here?
Still three and two to Lynch, order, rocks back and delivers in the
air foul territory and getting down theleft field side, but pulled into the

(01:43:56):
Ames batting cages. Eighth pitch ofthe plate appearance coming from Porter to Lynch
and it's hit in the air volleterritory again. Third base side. Is
their room there is not it's intothe bleachers beyond the games dugout. Well,
it's kind of exciting too to seethese younger players out here with some

(01:44:19):
of the games younger teams their gueststonight, and you can imagine what's running
through their mind, thinking, boy, I can't wait to get on one
of those same side uniforms. Anotherthree two from Porter to Lynch. It's
hit on the infield. Check thatit's a phone ball, and I believe

(01:44:39):
it went off of Lynch's helmet perhapsor not sure where it got Lynch,
but she's down in the in acrouch at the moment as coach bon Bear
is gonna check her out, makesure she's all right. There comes Dad
from the first base coaching box andemotioning. It hits their faces. Yeah,
it's pretty very common in softball tosee a face bat face mask across

(01:45:02):
the frame you don't see that muchin baseball, but lucky that time,
Otherwise it might have got her inthe chin. Yeah, we could get
another track here. Four straight three, two foul balls off of Lynch's bat,
so the count remains three and two. Andrew Adams, the fourth Dodge

(01:45:29):
coach, coming out of the dugoutsto talk to the home played umpire and
ask about the ruling there, andyou can see the umpire motioning tourtists space
and it went off the face maskand before Porter caught it out of the
air, and another three two toLynch and it swent on a myth as
Porter records another big strikeout aims downin order in the eighth and the game

(01:45:51):

two teams. Kenzie macal Wrath leadoff batter for the Dodgers in the ninth
Macy Brown and Ellie Doster are scheduledto follow here six seven and eight batters.
Sydney Smalley continues to toss for theLittle Cyclones. I got her up

(01:47:25):
to eighty nine pitches fifty three forstrikes. Here's a line shot down the
right field line, a long wayto go for Mescer tries to play it
off the hop, but it kicksinto full territory and macal Wrath will end
up on a second masker trying tochase that one down and think it went
off her leg and that was thedifference between a single and a double.
Yeah, she was trying to globo, then hit her leg and then went

(01:47:47):
into foull territory. She did wellto get it back to second base in
time prevent a triple eighth. Headof the game for the Dodgers. They
get a runner in scoring position rightaway in the ninth with the game tied
at one. Macy Brown the batterand will be surprised at all if we
see a sacrifice bud attempt Aames willbring Esselman in a step or two closer

(01:48:10):
at third, same with Geffrey atfirst, pulls it back and takes low
for a ball. Great strategy, move Brown looking down to coach Adams to
get the sign or dodge Man alittle bit better. Lay in those bunchs
down too, and Ames has respondedwell and been able to get the at
least the out at first on mostof them a ball and no strikes to

(01:48:34):
Brown as she does not square aroundthis time, takes the pitch high for
a ball too. Coach Adams keepingus on our toes here. Yeah,
next for sure. I think thesetwo teams heard that you know you're retiring
tomorrow. They don't want you togo. They're gonna try to keep this

(01:48:54):
game going as long as they can. Well get them all around. I
gotta be out of here by seventhirty. I got breakfast Club tomorrow.
Two old acept in front of homeplate. It'll be the catcher Anderson down
to first to get the out.She and Reeselman got the ball basically at
the same time, but it wasAnderson making the throw of Vogel covering the
bag at first and macol Wreath upto third on the sacrifice bunt by Macy

(01:49:16):
Brown. Well again a well laidbunt, and that was instrumental in moving
that runner. When the runner comesup infield, getting together to talk things
over, get the strategy. Alliameshad one double play, of course that's

(01:49:36):
not a possibility with going on firstbase right now, but prevented a run
from coming in. Macael Wrath isthe runner on third, or will be
after the little conversation ends here,Ellie Doster, the batter, the date

(01:49:58):
right now, you've got to bethinking play at home, Wait at home.
Doster two for three, a pairof it's a single and a double.
She drove in the most recent runof the game. That was back
in the second inning. She alsoblood to write. And on the first
pitch here she sees in the ninththat's in the dirt. Anderson stops it,

(01:50:20):
keeps malcol Rath at third, goahead run on third, four of
the Dodgers, with one out inour second extra inning. Macroth in racing
position down there, one thrown outthe third night time diving back Macarth just
ahead of the tag from Rieselman. It's wrong the throw from Anderson there,

(01:50:42):
and it was very close two andOdo Doster, Maco Rach. She's a
you know, almost in a sprinterstance down there at third. The pitch
slice down the right field line, masker love and foul territory and drops in
but just outside the foul line, midway down the right field line. So

(01:51:04):
Ames catches a bit of a break. There's that ball was just off Mesker's
glove, but in foul territory,so the runner. She was very very
close to making the catch there andfoul territory. Thank goodness. Two balls
and a strike to Doster. MackelWrath back to third. Smalley along look

(01:51:28):
to the dugout to get her sign. Now delivers two and one right back
up the middle for a single. That'll score macel Wrath for Dodge in front
two to one. Here on thetop of the ninth. That was a
well placed line shot right by thepicture. She would hit hard. Pitcher
had no play on that one.Doster with her fifteenth RBI of the season.

(01:51:51):
That's a big one for the Dodgersas they take the lead. She'll
go to the dugout. Oh lookat her who bumped up Maddie Hoshaw the
curtain see runner for the fourth DodgeCatcher. She stands on first with one
out in the ninth, Dodgers outfront two to one and Ashlyn Wills the
batter was. She was incredible, hulking her way, did the dugout.

(01:52:11):
Will's over two. It's a strikeout, a ground out, and she put
down a sacrifice bunter last time upin the seventh squares around here, pushes
up the first baseline, it's glovedby geff returns and throws to first with
Vogel covering. They throw it downto second, but Osa back on the
bag could have tagged her. Asthose sprised, Geffrey didn't save herself the
trouble of making the throw. Yeah, that's why it was kind of what

(01:52:32):
I was thinking. But the runnerwould have been the second anyway. But
the second sacrifice bunt of the inningputs a runner on second with two down,
and me and michaela with the batter. As we go back to the
top of the order for the Dodgers, michaelab over four two lineouts, a
flyout, and a ground out, went to Lynch at shortstop for last time
up in the seventh and takes astrike from Smalley here in the ninth two

(01:52:57):
down, well, and you know, the poor dodgesn't feeling comfortable. They're
feeling good, but they're not comfortablewith just one run lead. They have
a runner on second with two away. It's in the dirt and it's deflects.
It deflects off Anderson that will allowHoshaw to advance the third. On
the wild pitch, the ball droveinside on the right hand batter Micheleb,

(01:53:23):
and Anderson tried to slide over Here'sthe chest protector to knock it down,
but it deflected off to her leftand Hoshaw stands on third with a one
ball, one strike count to thebatter Mchaeleb, and she grounds one towards
the shortstop, high hoop handle byLynch throw the first end, time just ahead
