What used to be called “food stamps” is now called SNAP, the government’s “Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program.” The program is designed to provide nutritious food to those who can’t afford it – but does that include candy and soda? Many Republican-led states are leading the charge to ban certain items. NBC News Radio National Correspondent Rory O’Neill joined Doug to take a look at where some junk food is no longer available to those who are being given assistance, and what the reaction has been.
