Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yes, the elephant in the room and all of country
music and the news is Garth Brooks, accused of sexual
assault and battery in a lawsuit filed yesterday in Los Angeles.
To ignore something like this and ignore a story like
this is certainly not doing your job. My gosh, we
played this man's music since the beginning of time, but
casting judgment on this and that is a completely different

(00:22):
thing that we certainly not going to do in any
case with this. Because there's a court system for stuff
like this. So many people are asking, what do theirs think,
what's going on? What's your relationship on, and what's this
one and the other thing? Well, it's just this needs
to go through a process and talking about it and
getting on and doing outright defense of Garth or going
after Garth is it's kind of unfair on both sides.

(00:45):
But the facts of the matter. It's a long time
makeup artist and a stylist for Tricia Yearwood. Tricia's had
her on her team for well, I don't know, twenty
thirty years. I think nineteen ninety ninety is when when
she started. And she is saying this person is saying
that Garth had forced himself on her during a work
trip back in twenty nineteen in Los Angeles. The lawsuit

(01:06):
was filed under the name Jane Rowe to keep her animinity.
And she'd been working for Tricia for a while and
just started working for Garth, you know, less than ten
years ago. Apparently the lawsuit itself, it's a pretty great
we're not going into all that, it's a graphic lawsuit,
not trying to avoid anything or it's just not our place.
But she alleges that she was assaulted on multiple occasions,

(01:29):
and only that part of that. It also alleged that
quote John Doe or Garth Brooks went to federal court
in Mississippi recently in order to stop the lawsuit from
becoming public. Garth denied the accusations in court. I claimed
that if her allegations were released to the public, it
would do quote substantial irreparable damage to his reputation and livelihood.

(01:50):
In a statement last night, Garth came out and said
he denied the allegations again, and he also said quote
Garth said, for the last two months, I've been hassled
to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of
what my future would be if I did not write
a check for millions of dollars. It is but like
having a loaded gun waved in my face. And he

(02:11):
went on to say that he refuses to pay hush
money because that would mean, you know, he's admitting to
behavior that he didn't do any end of the statement
with quote, I trust the system, I do not fear
the truth, and I am not the man that they
have painted me to be. People are taking all kinds
of you know, some people are taking that as gold,
and others are obviously taking shots at it. As we

(02:34):
know our society the last few years, this is a
very very super uber touchy subject.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Right.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
In some cases people that have been accused and it
was validated through court would be you who Bill Cosby.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Yeah, Bill Cosby, you had Cuba Gooding Junior also had
pled guilty ended up. I don't think he served jail
time though, And I don't know. It's just you see
allegations like this come out, and at this point, with
this particular situation, who knows what the truth is. It's
terrible either way, and.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
It's not our place to speculate, correct I don't think
it's anybody's place to speculate, but just let it be
in the court and if you want to follow that
and it goes you know, public through the court system
and everything else, and that's you're doing. I mean, he's
a big time artist in country music. He's top tier,
you know. On the other side, he get Supreme Court justice,
and it's tough to even bring this stuff up because

(03:23):
then people still say, well, that's still I'm not getting political.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
But back Kavanaugh is a Supreme Court justice.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
He went through this, the accusations and you know, Johnny
Depp went through accusations never heard and all that.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
My gosh, that way that played out on TV and
everything else.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Yeah, so we just you're like, well, you're in the
country music station, what do well personally, I guess I
can't speak for the company or anything else. Just stand
back and let the court deal. That's why we have
a court system exactly.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
And if somebody does want to sort of follow this situation,
I just really campel them to maybe not listen to
all the people who are taking these hard stances and
already warming opinions and saying, well, this is a lie
and this is a lie, Like you don't know what's
true and what's not. But I think that if you
are interested in learning more, you know, you can check
out the actual lawsuit itself. You don't need to go
through any kind of venue where you're getting weird opinions.

(04:15):
We share it on the Chris Carr and Company Facebook page,
the details of that lawsuit and Garth's statement, And I
think right now all we have is the facts, and
that's just all we're trying to share.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Yeah, I mean, well, you say the facts, but we
have what's what we're told. We have what we're being told,
the facts.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
I'm yes, but I mean, like the facts of there
is a lawsuit and there is a statement, and that
is all we have.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
And they both have one has said this and the
other has yes. Yeah, I mean we're yes. We are
a country music station. We've played Garth for a long time.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
You know. It doesn't mean that we come out and DRIs.
I know for an absolute fact, we just don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
And again, like I said, it's this is awful either way.
If it's a lie, this is a terrible, terrible But
if it is true, that is obviously that is the
worst of the worst the things that are alleged. So
we're just gonna have to wait and see what actually
ends up being the truth and justice will be served
and we will find out.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
So as everybody's asking us or sending us DMS or
phone calls and stuff, it's like we are with We're
just sitting there with you on the sidelines looking at
what is being said.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Yeah, that's it. We don't we're not here to Jed.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Wasn't there back in twenty nineteen where something allegedly happened
or none of that, I don't know, not privity information.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Yeah, so that's what we do. Plays music,
